The Westin New Orleans Canal Place - New Orleans

Fabulous location...Within a short walk to Jackson Square,French Quarter,shopping and Cafe de Monde etc...We stay at this hotel everytime we go to New Orleans...We are from Baton Rouge and you can not beat this hotel if you have kids...We just prefer staying on the same side as the quarter and not across Canal...Fabulous POOL on the 29th floor(Great panoramic view of New Orleans at night by the pool...Getting a room facing the river is also a plus...When the kids get tired it is a short walk back from everything....PERFECT in our book.....

Location is easy to move around the city, highly recommend your next stay here.

This could be a fantastic deal but I think the clean up from Katrina is still in progress. Stained carpet abounds and scuffed walls takes a bit away if you are paying a lot, but overall good deal.

Great hotel but my stay was for one night and it cost almost half as ,much to park my car as the room cost.That's nuts.

We loved the hotel. The room was really nice and comfortable. Best of all, we loved the location. It was close to every thing and was within walking distance of all the attactions downtown and the trolley line. Parking was expensive; but, is in most places near the French Quarter.

Close to almost everything that you would want to see in NO as a tourist. Had a great view of the river from the room. The original room assigned to us was smoked in (this happens to be a non-smoking hotel) and so they gave us another room...along with 2 complimentary breakfasts. That was really cool of the hotel to do that. The bed was really comfortable...corridors were really quiet at night....view from room was awesome.

A friend and I went for a music festival. It was a great location; mall and movie downstairs for the less adventurous, yet close enough to the other New Orleans attractions that you could walk to most of them. Try Nola, great fried chicken with a side of greens for an additional cost. Mr. “B's” also has great food like the shrimp and grits.

The only issue we had with the hotel was related to a bit of confusion as to what type of room my family had reserved...a single bed or double bed room. We dealt with two staff members -- the first one, Lillian, was very nice and the second one was not. I must add that most of the staff were polite (not very conversational, but polite). The second staff member I referred to preferred spending time explaining how I must be mistaken (she actually said, "You must be wrong on this."). She spent several minutes searching on her desktop for proof that the error must have been mine. I simply asked the nicer person. Shall I seek another hotel? Is this that big a problem? Finally, the original staff member found the correct accommodations for us, and everyone was happy. Perhaps the second staff member simply requires more customer service training. I will stay there again when I visit New Orleans. I will just stay away from staff member number two

Great Location security for guests safety and friendly staff excellent.

My family enjoyed this hotel. We felt very safe in its location and enjoyed the proximity to the aquarium, restaurants, etc.. Our children especially enjoyed the rooftop pool, which offered a great panoramic view of New Orleans.

Loved the location and the hotel. Very convenient. Close to lots of activity and attractions. Would stay here again. Only complaint was the parking price. The hotel parking discount was $2 and there was no in and out.

this hotel is connected to the shops at canal place-you can walk thru the hallway into the shopping center-this was great especially to avoid the heat and or rain. Just blocks from French quarter and Riverpark and Harrahs casino-all in walking distance.

The view from the lobby of the Mississippi River is amazing. The standard king rooms aren't anything special. Small bathrooms. I would only stay here again if I got another bargain.

This hotel was top notch and would expect to pay a lot more for this upper class hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

This hotel is right in the middle of the French Qaurter, and is absolutely wonderful! The best thing about the Westin was their customer service. I kept thinking to myself "I can never stay in another hotel, and miss out on this exceptional treatment". You literally feel like royalty! My only concern from my stay was that I would visit another Westin in the future, and they wouldn't live up to the service that this hotel provided! ... not to mention the room, overall decor, and amentities! Great place to stay, Great price!

This hotel was by far the nicest hotel that I have ever stayed in. I am a Louisiana native and was in New Orleans for the weekend celebrating my 1st wedding anniversary. The staff is completely amazing and helpful. After checking-in, the hostess personally showed us to the guest elevators. The lobby view is gorgeous! The lobby of the hotel is actually on the 11th floor. The parking fee is not bad when you consider the immaculate hotel. The security of the hotel is one of its best features. In order to get to the upper levels (guest room floors) you HAVE to have your room key. If you are on one of the upper levels and want to go to a lower level, you HAVE to have your room key. Otherwise the elevator brings you straight to the 11th floor lobby with no stops! The pool is awesome! It is on the roof of the hotel and has sunlight hitting it all day long. There is a nice breeze up there every now and then. And the music just adds to the atmosphere. When I first walked up there, it felt like I was on a cruise ship! We are already planning another stay at this amazing hotel!!

If you are looking for a contemporary hotel, away from the activity in the French Quarter (which can be fun as well) then this is a fantastic spot. It is located across the street from Harrah's casino, and is literally on the edge of the French Quarter. I walked daily to Cafe Dumonde and had lunch and dinner in several of the varied restaurant's in the vacinity. Room service at the hotel was prompt and their selection of meals was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and I plan on staying there again.

The breakfast was supposed to be free and it cost us 34$ for orange juice and a fruit plate. If you want a good view of the city do not stay on the 14th level because the view is blocked. The pool was nice. Parking is 18$ each day if you do not move your car. Vallet is 36$ a day but your able Togo as you please. Hope you enjoy the hotel:)

The Hotel is close to everything!! The hotel literally sits on top of a mall (hotel lobby is on the 11th floor - on top of the mall and parking garage) with food court so shopping and dining is not a problem. It's also right across Harrah's casino so for all you gamblers out there, this is the perfect hotel for you. And soon as you walk out of the hotel, just a couple of blocks away (about an eight of a mile is the french quarter, the most popular destination in town!! The Hotel has all the amenities we were looking for (Nice and comfortable room, pool, wireless internet with fee of course, very well kept and serviced room and lobby). I would recommend this hotel to everyone, the only thing to watch out is Parking at their parking garage! We got charged a whole lot even with the hotel parking discount! Make sure to look around for a cheaper parking. Other than that, Our stay at the hotel was way better than expected!

The staff of The Westin are second to none! From the valet, to bell hop, to receptionist, and wait staff. Guests are treated like they are the only reason the hotel is open for the day! The view from the lobby to watch the boats and barges float silently down the Mighty Mississippi is a sight to behold. Make your reservation and prepare to be pampered!

I was wary when I saw this hotel was a few blocks from the French Quarter, but on arrival I found it to be perfect!! It is in a great riverside location that is just a block away from the quarter. I found it to be a nice refuge from the Bourbon Street din...Having Harrahs next door was nice to go do the slots for a little time each night. the riverside walks were perfect to stroll down at night to the clubs,restaurants and shops. Bourbon Street is only up about 5 blocks. I used the pool every morning to start out the day. another great convenience!!there is a small mall at the base of the hotel and it has a cinema in it. We went to 2 movies during our stay to relax after a hot afternoon in a "cool environment", again a great convenience. We stayed for 5 days there and I found no problems, just a nice clean friendly hotel with those wonderful "heavenly beds". Using Hotels.com I found some very decent reduced rates from the published hotel rate!! I looked at some of the French Quarter hotels but found that this location has so many more amenties to use around it, for the amount of days we were there. The Aquarium is right there also. It is a safe location and we walked everywhere from there. I highly recommend this hotel for location,views, cleanliness and the surrounding amenities. It was a perfect "ground Zero".

We loved how family-friendly the hotel was. Upon check-in, we were given a kids club bag for our 9 month old that contained a night light, a rubber ducky, and outlet covers. We were also able to use a complimentary crib. It was nice letting her crawl around the room with no concerns. The hotel is convieniently located right behind the aquarium, another plus for the family vacation! Also has a great pool and an amazing view! Can't beat it!

Really have nothing bad to say about this place at all. We wanted a nice hotel that was close to Bourbon street, but still quiet. This place was perfect. Checkin took no time at all, the room was spacious and had a great bed. The lobby was on the 11th floor, and had a great view of the river. The only gripe that I have was trying to get to the parking area. We spent a good 30 minues trying to figure out where to go, and when we finally called the hotel, they were able to guide us in. Definitely recommend this place.

GOOD: The doorman Fredrick was an absolute pleasure to deal with each day we stayed. The location of the Westin is excellent, easy walking distance to all parts of the French Quarter & Downtown area. If you stay here, I strongly suggest getting a river view room that overlooks the Mississippi. The room was a very comfortable Westin room. BAD: Upon check-in we were assigned to an already occupied room. After a return trip to the front desk we were assigned to a handicap room which was not that bad in itself, but had a major leak on the shower nozzle which had water spewing everywhere when the shower function was used. We discovered this after we already had to have maintenance come up to the room to the TV because it was not working. Response time to the TV problem was 1 hour. Also there was an additional charge on my CC when we returned from the trip. When I called to investigate, they stated it was for the mini bar which was never used. They removed the charge. All things considered, you can find a much better value for this area of New Orleans.

Excellent location at the foot of Canal Street. Quiet and comfortable. Used pool and it was very good. Did not dine there with all the other area eating establishments. Valet parking very expensive - $36 per day.

Very convenient access to the riverfront, CBD and French Quarter. Very secure and in the best possible neighborhood. Right in the middle of everything in the CBD/ French Quarter areas of New Orleans.

Very convenient to both conv ctr and French Quarter. Free Starbucks in lobby and clean comfortable room with great view was all I needed. Only drawback is the main entrance is on a desolate street so walking there late at night from Bourbon may make some a bit uncomfortable.

A very convenient location. The elevators were a little scary, but aside that, everything was good.

My daughter and I visited the Aquarium and IMax on our stay. The hotel was great. The pool was perfect. The price was very good.

I love staying at Westin hotels, i love their beds and the overall comfortness of the rooms. This one is just a few blocks from Bourbon, and right next to Canal. The only problem is the parking. they charge 36 a day to valet, but other than that, awesome stay.

We traveled with our 2 year old and wanted something close to aquarium, insectarium and the quarter, this hotel fit the bill. Views from the hotel room were awesome and our daughter loved looking out the window, views from the 29th floor pool deck were unbeleivable. Security was good, no access to elevators without a room key, parking was convenient in the garage (though pricey). Only cons are the hotel needs a little updating, especially with the carpeting (fraying edges). But overall the room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful and the bed comfortable.
