This hotel is beautiful, upscale, and a great value for the price. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms have free beverages and AC, and it is located right next to a Metro stop making traveling to and from the Metropole very simple. Overall this hotel was one of the best European hotel experiences I've ever had.

The Hotel was very convenient and central to all the tourist sites. The Underground was in front of the hotel. It was easy to use the public transit. Would recommend the purchase of a 1,2 or 3 day pass for use on the city trams, underground and certain museums. If you go to the tourist office in the old town square, you can purchase it or u can purchase it on line. You have to try the beer in Belgium. This hotel provided a few complimentary beers in the lil frig. in your room. The hotel does not offer a reasonable breakfast. You may go into the inside mall across the intersection, as u exit the main entrance of the hotel 2 your right (don't recall the street name.) There is a bakery that offers a continental breakfast at a reasonable price. Lots of restaurants in the immediate area. Try Belgium raffles, it is a most and Mussels for dinner. They are both a great experience and treat. Good luck and happy journey to all in Brussels.

Well-informed, friendly, and helpful front desk staff, particularly the concierges. Excellent, substantial breakfast buffet. Spacious, sunny room overlooking the Place Broukere. Good A/C. Marble bathroom, large tub and shower, two sinks. Dozens--literally, dozens--of very good restaurants within three blocks. The only downside: slightly sketchy neighborhood within a one-block perimeter of the hotel itself. But we encountered no hassles at all during our eight-night stay.

The hotel room air conditioning did not work. I called for assistance, but was offered only to wait 20 minutes until it worked. It didn't. It was too late at night to fuss with, so I took a sleeping pill. Ask for a room with workng air conditioning and then you will like the hotel.

I loved the hotel overall, but we experienced a serious problem with a concierge request. We requested that some important papers be faxed (which they did at a very reasonable price), but the process took a lengthy time, and when we returned for the original documents, they were not to be found. The documents were never recovered, and we now have personal info floating around Brussels. This was a great disappointment amid an otherwise great experience.

Hotel itself is magnificent, beautiful architecture. Rooms are not big by modern standards, but not tiny and are very nice. They offer upgraded 'business class' internet service in the room for an additional charge, but the basic service is very over-priced at 20 euro/day. Being nickeled-and-dimmed for a basic service like checking email is my only complain, just factor it into the price.

The hotel is lovely and well maintained, with impeccable service befitting its five stars. The location was very central, close to the train station, the Grand Place and restaurants away from the touristy spots, places where Belgians eat. The room was large, quiet and very clean. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

While this is a 5-star hotel in location, service, and beauty of lobby, the room was more like a 2-star in the US. While large, and having a very adequate bathroom. the room had two tiny twin beds and two old desks and chairs. There wasn't any place to store clothing except in a small closet. Not a single dresser drawer to put your socks. But that's Europe.

The lobby was elegant. Staff allowed early check in ( 9:00am ). They were completely helpful throughout our stay. Our room was large, with 10 x 12 terrace. We opened our terrace door and the smell of sweet belgium waffles cooking came through. Room was clean, bed comfortable and quiet! The property is centrally located, and within walking distance to all attractions. It is one of the oldest hotels in Belgium, but still modern with a European grace. I can't say enough good things about it. I would stay again absolutely.

We were in Brussels for 3 days. Beautiful hotel and great location. Close to Grand Place, Rue Neuve for excellent shopping and excellent area for any type of city transportion system. The room was spacious and very nice. My biggest complaint about the hotel was the air-conditioning or 'lack thereof'. They assured us the a/c was working and sent a technician to check and adjust the thermostat. It didn't work, we were sweating. We again asked them about the a/c and they sent a portable 'cooler' which uses ice to blow cool air. Once the ice quickly melted, there was no cool air. For the next two days we were VERY uncomfortable and sweat. They never asked if we wanted to change rooms which led me to believe that all the rooms were the same and that it was not individually regulated in each room. I might use the hotel again but ONLY in the winter.

Very professionally run, all of the staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. Great location. Metro entrance 100ft away, Grand Place and St. Catherine's areas each not even a 5 minute walk away. I was in new wing of hotel in room that lacked the old world charm of the hotel's public areas, but it was clean, large (even by US standards) and sunny. Big bathroom too. It also had a ton of closet space. Room service avaiable 24x7. The one meal I ordered was tasty and elaborately presented.

The Metropole had an enchanting lobby, with very kind and attentive staff. The location was excellent (literally, the metro is right there - hence the name). We were walking distance from Grande Place, which is where you tend to end your evenings. We were also walking distance (15 min) to Central station- where we could grab a train for our day trips. The only discomfort was that the air conditioning wasn't working properly- but our nights were so cool we just slept with the windows open. We had a balcony room, which was great! The bathroom had just been remodeled- marble, etc. It was a perfect hotel for our purpose - nice, not expensive, historical, and a 5 star rating.

We went to Brussels to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary and spent 6 very happy & comfortable nights in this Hotel. The room was large, well set out with a large very comfortable bed, the pillowcases were changed every day, always pristine & clean. The bathroom again was large and kept scrupulously clean with soaps etc being renewed every day. The only 2 complaints we had (quite minor ones ) were the complimentery mini bar wasn't refreshed as promised on 2 occasions which also meant we had no clean glasses to drink from, and there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The location is also excellent, just a few minutes walk from the Grand Place, an abundant selection of bars, restaurants and all types of shop you might desire.

It's billed as the oldest hotel in Brussels and it was obviously a showpiece in its time; however, it was much too overpriced for the value. I had booked a standard room at a discount and was upgraded to a better room. The room was confortable, spacious with a good kingsize bed, though some of the fittings had seen better days and their was a bad stain on the carpet. The entrance hall was magnificent, the rickety lift fun and the service by staff excellent. It is also very centrally located for tourism. The breakfasts were ridiculously expensive. I would certainly recommend it for the service but rooms could do with a bit of a makeover.

The room service 3 times out of 5 forgot to refill our minibar, but when we called it was refilled imideatly. The free minibar is nice. There was not tea, or coffee station in the room. And hair dryer was very difficult to use. But location was great, one step away from the metro station and close to the center and shopping.

The Hotel Metropole is the oldest hotel in Brussels. The beds were very comfortable with extra pillows in the closet. Ours was not the finest room but then we had a very steep discount due to our length of stay. The hotel is close to shopping and tourist spots and many places to eat. The continental breakfast is outragously priced(even higher than some current reviews have noted) even if you want just a cup of coffee. but there is a great coffee/sandwich shops just a few steps from the hotel in the North (Nord) passage. Sitting at the hotel's side-walk cafe was the highlight of our stay. Even if you don't stay here, go in for a visit and relax at the cafe.

My husband and I had very high hopes for our 3-night stay at the Metropole Hotel. From the second you enter through the old-fashioned turn-style door, you feel the grandeur of the space. From the marble interior of the lobby or the vastness of the piano lounge in the adgacent lobby, to our over-sized room, this hotel exceeded any and all expectations, and is by far, the nicest hotel my husband or I have ever stayed in. The attendants at the front desk, as well as the conscierge were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The location is amazing, only a few blocks from the Grand Place, and yet right off of "De Brouckere" metro stop (which was very easy to navigate to if coming from Gare du Midi train station). Our room was spectacular, remembering usual sizes of european hotel rooms. It contained a king size bed, a private hall-way leading to the bathroom, heated towel racks in the bathroom, a complimentary mini-bar (containing 2 Coca colas, 2 Stella Artois, and 2 bottles of water) stocked daily, an in-room safe, two closets, a desk with wi-fi access and chair, a sitting area of two chairs and a table next to the large window that opens out to a small, but functionable balcony (just large enough for two adults to step out for a smoke), and then what appeared to be an additional closet door, that when opened, was actually a full-size tri fold mirror. All with plenty of floor space remaining even after unloading several pieces of luggage!! And I probably took over a dozen photos of the white wrought iron chandelier in the shape of leaves and branches adorned with crystals that hung over our bed. Yeh.... this hotel is nice! Now, I will say this, because of the events taking place on the world's stage while we were abroad (the struggle for the Gaza Strip, Dec. 2008/Jan. 2009) there were protests comensing further down the street from the hotel, so we were wary to wonder too far. It was also dead of winter with highs roughly around 20 degrees Farenheit. For both reaso

This hotel was very nice. We got a free upgrade, and our room was very large, even by U.S. standards. We had a veranda and a nice view. The elevator is old, and I got stuck in it for a few minutes before someone came and got me. It was the old-school kind of elevator that has the grate that you have to pull open when you enter and exit, which is a pain when you're carrying luggage. Internet through the business center is very expensive, but there's a cheap internet cafe down the street. The hotel restaurant is very expensive, but there are many cafes and restaurants nearby. The shampoo was the tiniest little bottle I've ever seen, barely enough for one use. What a way to save money.
