We stayed at this room for four nights. The Bay View Room was amazing. There is an awesome view of the Bay. The service was great. The concierge was helpful getting us a rent car, reservations, and shuttles. Could not have asked for anything more from this hotel. If you are trying to decide, my wife and I loved this hotel.

Best service I've ever experienced. Windows were filthy detracting from the amazing views.

This is a great hotel. stay as high as you can because the view is to die for. Get the bay view.

It was a nice hotel. Complementary tea putting in the special basket was wonderful and service was very good. I stayed at 41st floor and the view was spectacle. The interior waa a perfect oriental style.

Great view of city and Twin Peaks/Sutro Tower. Maid service very attentive with turn-down service nightly. Room clean esp bathroom. Furnishings and bed in good condition (well-kept up). Fabulous view of SF bay, Alcatraz, Coit Tower and an unobstructed view of the Transamerica Bldg from the huge picture windows in the hallway to the room! I had complimentary breakfast due to water pipe maintanence inconvenience. Food was excellent and carefully prepared. Food prices were EXPENSIVE, however. A cup of coffee with refills was $5.00 and breakfast with tax and tip would have been about $37. A 5 course tasting dinner menu was $95 per person. The hotel is within walking distance of the Ferry Bldg, home to cheese shops, Acme Bakery, produce stores and many excellent restaurants, such as The Slanted Door and Hog Island Oysters. Parking is also expensive, similar to other 5 star SF hotels with daily rates about $50/day. I used BART and taxis which are much less expensive.

we spent a bday weekend and wanted to be close to union square... its about 8 blocks from union square which was the only turn off. things we loved: a. convenient access to Muni / Bart b. excellent view of the bay / alcatraz / gg brdige from the room. c. awesome room d. complimentary green tea was awesome e. v nice beds and very well furnished room... all clean... f. fastest housekeeping I have ever seen !

I was in town for a meeting and also for a friend's 40th birthday party. This was my first experience staying at the hotel and I was extremely satisfied. I arrived early in the day (approx 11:00am) and even though I was arrived well before the stated check-in time, the hotel personnel made every effort to check me in. When they discovered that they did not have a room available, they offered a room upgrade for my inconvenience. The view from my room was absolutely gorgeous - friends came back to my room to hang out and watch the view as the sun set. Also, every time I passed a hotel employee they addressed me by name! This included the desk personnel, the doorman, the maid, and the restaurant personnel.

My husband and I stayed at the Mandarin for the last night of our honeymoon (we traveled many cities versus going just one place) and could not be more pleased. It had been ten days of travel, and we were tired when we checked in. Probably looked as tired as we felt. However, the staff treated as like royalty. They had our room ready for early check-in but had offered to hold our bags if it wasn't. Everyone we encountered was polite, friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and offered the best view available in SF. I don't believe there are as many restaurants within walking distance as other areas, and those around close fairly early. However, the front desk or concierge is more than willing to make suggestions and public transportation couldn't be easier.

Amazing view, really spectacular bed and they treated us like royalty. The service and the food was impecable. Only thing is they dont have pay per view and just ran up a box of DVDs for us to choose from which seemed sort of not so posh.

the hotel goes from floors 38-48 at the top of the 3rd tallest building in San Francisco so all views are spectacular. Add to this the luxury of the room, an elegant & spacious bathroom, and lots of "extras" like bathrobes, separate dressing area, lots of floor-length mirrors, binoculars, & a chaise lounge - truly a memorable experience.

Our stay was very comfortable and very nice. The hotel staff was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant Silks was extraordinary for both lunch and dinner. If you are in a hurry this is not the place for lunch as service was at a leisurely pace. The location was OK but was in the center of the financial district so not a lot close by. The gym was adequate but not wonderful. There is no spa but massages were available in your room. This was a nice offering because it was quiet and very nicely handled. Room service was very good, food was delivered hot and was well prepared. If you are on a business trip this is a perfect place for you. If you have children it might be a bit small.

From the time we entered the Hotel the staff took great care of us. The rooms were clean the service fantastic and the atmosphere was relaxing. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in the city.

I went there for my 4 years anniversary and had a wonderful time with my girlfriend. The other reviews were right about the view, it is by far the best view I ever had at a hotel. The room was just the right size, with a very large bathroom and the service was great. The bed was the most comfortable I ever had in a hotel with high quality pillows and sheets. Here are some very useful tips regarding this hotel. First, you have to stay here at least once, but don’t get a regular room at least get the second level priced rooms, I upgraded mine for only $15 more and was totally worth it. Second, eat at their restaurant Silk and order the tasting menu it was some of the best tasting food I have ever had, it’s a little pricey but do it for a special occasion and your girlfriend will love you for it. Third, tell them that its your anniversary and the hotel will make it extra special. Fourth don’t park here if you can help it, only valet parking is available and it’s about $57 per night with taxes. Parking was the only thing I didn’t like, but everything else was excellent.

Extremely friendly and happy staff. Everyone seem happy to be working at the Mandarin. Everyone was friendly and courteous. Great location to be downtown, close to the Ferry Building and cable cars. An amazing views!

Our room was next to the elevator and it sounded like we were next to the runway at the airport every time it went up and down. They happily relocated us to a better location. View is spectacular from any room. Service was very attentive and timely, but it should be for this price. Good location, central to most anything you would want to do in SF.

The hotel staff and the service was excellent! Disappointing were the very thin towels and the quality of the shampoo/conditioner. For a hotel this costly this is unusual. The room itself was very nicely laid out otherwise.

The staff at the Mandarin Oriental were the most impressive I have encountered. It seemed nothing was too much trouble for them. The guaranteed high floor (the hotel is only on the highest floors of the building) mean that a great view is guaranteed - although it is of course worth paying a little extra for a view of the bay. The only drawback is that you can't expect to get this kind of service and room cheap, but if money is not tight it is worth the extra.

Unparalleled views of the bay, with binoculars if you are feeling nosy. Silks has a good breakfast and it starts early. The check in staff were terrific making it a very welcoming experience

I would highly recommend the Mandarin Oriental to anyone. The room is large and the view is incredible. The staff was very helpful in getting tickets to events, and extremely professional.

The first and foremost thing I noticed is the staff from the front desk clerk to the server at Silk's, to the Room Service attendant knew my name and addressed me using my name everytime - very personalized service. I have stayed at other upscale and highly rated hotels and have never received this kind of service. The treatment by the staff is top notch, timely, efficient and very hospitable. The room itself was comfortable. The theme is simple yet elegant, not overly done nor generic. It was just right for the moment. The view is spectacular with large windows that open. My only complaint was about the towels. It seems as if absolutely no softener was used, more abrasive to the skin than either myself or my girlfriend cared for. Otherwise, we were impressed overall with the room, the hotel and service. The hotel gets my recommendation

The Mandarin Oriental is an excellent choice for a luxury hotel in San Francisco. It is very well located, the rooms are well decorated and maintained, and if you get a bay view room you have a superb view of the Bay Bridge, the East Bay and Alcatraz island.

Overall, our stay was magnificent. The concierge (Michael and John) who helped decorate our room for our anniversary, our bell man, Devin who drove us to the restaurant, the front desk staff were all wonderful! Customer service of the hotel definitely show its class! A 5 star!! The only comment I have is the ceiling of the room (# 4816) was chipping. We did inform room service when they delivered our coffee so that facility is aware of this. It would be nice for someone to check the room prior to our check in.
