Gutes Hotel, zentrale Lage, etwas hellhörig

Dies Hotel ist sehr schoen und sehr ruhig gelegen (drauf achten dass das Zimmer nicht unter oder beim FitnessCenter ist, dann wirds ein bisschen lauter, da Fitness Center 24/7 geoeffnet hat.) Ich würde jeder Zeit dort wieder ein Zimmer buchen, vorallem wenn es renoviert ist und somit auf dem ALLER neusten Stand ist.

Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, freundliches Personal, große und geräumige Zimmer - Buchung der Suite wäre gar nicht nötig gewesen (Zufall ?). Nur das Frühstück war relativ teuer, daher auswärts. Gute Lage zu Lake und Stadt/-mitte.

The location of this hotel was great! I could tell that it was an older building and maybe could have used some updating in places but the awesome staff made it worth the stay. Be aware that there is no free parking and valet cost $40 a night!!

Ambassador East used to be a lovely hotel; it has gone way downhill. On top of that, the management and staff do not seem to notice or care. I made myself comfortable and the location was exactly right. The doormen were friendly and courteous. Making the reservation told me in the first place that staff does not care and is not empowered. So I went and made the reservation through Hotels.com -- a great summer deal. Room's carpet was filthy. Had to ask repeatedly for a bottom sheet that went all the way to the end of the bed. Asked for and got a frig and microwave (both old) but the person who brought them did not plug them in properly or check to make sure they were working. I had to do it myself. I hope this hotel upgrades and remembers why they are in business.

Needs some updating but a very good experience. Please note: fitness center is terrible with only 2 working machines.

Stayed for 6 nights while moving my daughter back to school. Great neighborhood, friendly hotel staff, clean room and wonderful history in the Pump Room. Great value. Room are a little tired but clean and comfortable.

Great Room for a Great Price! Right near everywhere that you wuold want to be in Chicago. Near the water, a 5 minute train ride from Wrigley!

The staff all were helpful and eager to help, without being overly in your face! great service, fluffy towels and lots of the little "extras" I'd expect in a much more expensive hotel. Just the "right size" kind of place-----

We found a very inexpensive deal, so with that in mind we were very satisfied. The service was excellent. The surrounding neighborhood was quiet and it was a very simple walk to the Red Line. Our room left a little to be desired - the bathroom door did not latch unless you deadbolted it and the TV was tiny (though we didn't even use it) - but it was about what we'd expect for the price we paid. The best part was that we went to Chicago primarily for a concert, and upon our arrival after the concert and a few drinks, we ended up sharing the elevator ride with two members from the band! Overall very satisfied.

Although, the room at the hotel was a bit tired, we had a suite and for the price we paid it was just about the best value we have ever had. The location is so upscale, close to Rush St. restaurants, the lake, the mansions, Lincoln Park, Michigan Ave and the El. It was incredibly quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is an excellent value, given the location, the historic lobby, and the service. However, the rooms need renovation (carpets are old, air conditioners should be replaced, fitness equipment clunky). I had the feeling that the hotel management was thinking of selling the building.

Anniversary dinner at Pump Room, one of our all time favorite restuarants.

The hotel was beatiful but I'm pretty sure I got a bitten by bed bugs. That was upsetting.

The hotel had so much old world charm that you could feel the history. The location was very convenient to good local nightlife and restaurants. The room was impeccably clean with good furnishings and a comfortable bed. The only issue was that the air conditioner was as loud as a jumbo jet and hence I got little or no sleep during my stay. There was no alternative ventilation because the windows were wired shut. Free internet in the business centre was a big plus but the printer toner cartridge was too low so had to go to kinkos to print borading pass. Staff (doorman, reception, cleaning, maintenance) were extremely friendly without being overbearing or false.

The air conditioner was extremely loud, should have been serviced and the cleaning staff would have noticed it.

Clean and quiet. In Gold Coast part of Chicago, charming neighborhood. About an hour walk to the Art Institute of Chicago. Bathroom didn't have a counter to put all my toiletries, just 2 strips of shelves. Parking isn't free, about $40 a night. There is a public parking lot across the street that charges $29 a night.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The doormen and valet parking were great, the elevators quick, the place was clean and the staff friendly and professional. When we first arrived in Chicago we decided to have our grandson stay and needed a rollaway bed. When we got to the room there were two things we did not like: 1) the room was too small for a rollaway bed and 2) the room was next to the elevator and elevator shaft, which made a lot of noise. When asked to change, the front desk was pleasant, the doorman (same man) came to once again move our things and was pleasant and professional. We did not feel bad asking for a change. The room we got moved to was beautiful, clean and large. We will definitely stay here again. Just count on high cost of parking in the city.

we were told we would have a roll away waiting during our reservation; then told we could not get one once we arrived. After several minutes, they were able to accomomidate us, but I had to get more direct than I like. The rooms were nice, but housekeeping did not vacuum the 2nd day we were there. Overall, nice accomidations and good location for the money.

This is a VERY old hotel that is in major need of renovation. The location was good for what we wanted, which was the beach for the air and water show and Hugo's Frog Bar. They were all within walking distance. So it was just ok but think will try somewhere else next year.

The front desk was very friendly, and the bed and towels were soft and comfortable. The carpet was a little icky, and the tv was tiny and fuzzy. Pluses and minuses.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, especially as it was only 3 blocks from the beach and there were good restaurants close by. Staff was very accommodating. My only complaint is the gym equipment needs updating.

Gorgeous Hotel! A little gem off North Beach and very close to the Gold Coast. Within walking distasce of shops but not in the heart of them.

The Ambassador East is a lovely, older hotel in a nice location. However, the room we were given was very small, and the bathroom was one of the smallest we have seen in a long time. Valet overnight parking was expensive - $40.00/night!

Great location if you're coming into town for a CUBS game. 5 blocks to the Red Line and then only 4 stops on there, gets you to Wrigley. Very friendly neighborhood with grocery, liquor, bars and restaurants all in walking distance. Felt very safe. The beach was only 2 blocks away so there was a lot of foot traffic and lots to look at. Had a great time. Only wished the hotel had a mini fridge and microwave, but other than that, it was great!!

The room did not cost much, and it showed. I thought I was getting a good deal at a nice hotel, and while the lobby and public areas of the hotel that I saw were VERY nice, the room had large stains on the carpet, and it had a view of the fire escape and a wall. The bathroom door didn't latch, and the shower was dirty. I wouldn't go back again. I stayed at the downtown Holiday Inn the next two nights and found the room to be MUCH nicer. (and cost lots less)

The Gold Coast location is excellent; 2 blocks from Rush Street, 4 blocks from the Red Line train. The Hotel itself is older, and historic. The staff was very friendly, but houskeeping could be better. I'd stay there again.

The Ambassador East Hotel was described by the door man as being in the "Beverly Hills of Chicago", and I'd have to say, not being from Chicago of course, I have a hard time arguing with that. Surrounding homes in the area sold for as much as $3,500,000. Needless to say, we felt very comfortable and safe at all times. The staff was very courteous, and left messages letting us know that they would clean our room whenever we needed, as they were very excellent at respecting our privacy door tab. My only minor complaint was that the window curtain was damaged in the room we stayed in. For the price payed, and considering the quality of the hotel, I would have expected that to be taken care of before the room was rented out to us. Overall, I would give the Ambassador East a rating of 5/5.

We were looking for a hotel with an old Chicago feel. This hotel met our expectations and then some. It was convenient to Lincoln Park, downtown, places to eat, and close to a bus/train. We were happy it was not in the center of downtown, but in a beautiful neighborhood that was safe and serene. The decor was traditional and gave the hotel a distinctly "home" feel. The only downside would be that any extra frills cost a good deal extra. However, for the price it was worth it.

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It's in a nice neighborhood within walking distance to a lot of places. We were a little disappointed that the wireless wasn't free but they did provide 3 computers at no cost for us to use.

It was 2 blocks from the beach. I went there every day at 5am to see the gorgeous sunrise over Lake Michigan!!!!! Great location for all shopping and sights also. The Pump Room has great food and great service.

Only downside was the room we stayed in was dated. Great location.

While the surrounding areas were great, the staff friendly and the common areas decent, I found that our actual room was deplorable. The carpets were filthy, the bathroom was out of date and the bathtub looked "dingy". The top linens on the bed were old and the shades and sheers on the windows were ripped and torn. The hotel had no modern amenities and the hallways were hot! I realize that this hotel is considered "vintage" but the charm is long gone. The convenient location is the main attraction. I would not stay there again until they had an "overhaul" on everything.

Room was small for three adults but it was clean and the service was great. Close to Lakefront and Wrigley Field was 3-4 stops on the metro. No breakfast available and elevators are tight are the only negatives. The parking is 40 dollars a night at the hotel but we were able to find a spot around the corner.
