For the price we paid for off season/off parliament travel, it was great. It was about a 30min walk to the center of town from there, but the walk sends you right through a nice park and the king's palace. Only draw back was that the hotel's pool area was under construction so all of those amenities weren't available.

Bewertet von R aus Lancaster am Aug 25, 2009
On arrival, the hotel foyer was cordoned off due to repair works. This did not provide me with a relaxing welcome. At first sight of the room it looked fairly clean. However; my son went to bed and discovered what I can only describe as human vomit type stains on the duvet cover and the bed sheet below looked as if it had been slept in previously as it was full of human hairs. This was disgusting. The hotel did then send somebody to change it. The next morning, my son looked under the bed and discovered a tennis ball sized ball of fluff, a 'Hula Hoop' crisp snack and a piece of fruit. (an orange!) I had to tidy under the bed for the hotel. This is disgraceful. I then used the leisure facilities. What a joke! The builders were chipping away with hammers and elecrical equipment on entry to the pool. This was quite dangerous as I had no footwear on and ended up with feet full of dust and chippings of tile on my feet. I was also concerned about me having a wet body and the fact that there were power tool left plugged in on the floor where I was walking. All in all, this hotel stay was poor and spoilt my visit to Belgium

Bewertet von R aus Dublin am Aug 13, 2009
The hotel itself was very aesthetically appealing, comfortable and maybe even luxurious. The pool however was smaller than it appeared in the photos and was a bit of a building site while we were there as they appeared to be doing maintenance. I requested a king bed but got allocated a queen bed. On the morning of departure, a bill was slipped under our door which was completely wrong. They charged us different rates and even whacked on a breakfast bill of 50€, even though we had never eaten anything in the hotel. All in all, poor unfriendly service and staff but a nice hotel room and hotel location.

Bewertet von Drew aus Tucson am Jun 22, 2009
Very convenient to European Parliament, but a bit of a hike to downtown -- great for walkers but non-walkers would have to figure out the frequent buses. One block to major bus pickup area and restaurants. Had powdered coffee in room -- would rather have been able to brew it. Cost $4 Euros for mediocre cuppa at the bar. Expensive Internet, but not unusual in Europe. Overall, excellent and would choose this hotel again next time.

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel, as it fully merited its 5 star rating - comfort, little extras, cleanliness, and friendly staff. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent if the surroundings were a little on the stark side, and breakfast bar arrangements are rather awkward.

Bewertet von Gabe aus Arroyo Grande am Feb 25, 2009
This is an good hotel, especially if you are there for business with the EU parliament due to its location. However, I was traveling as a tourist. The hotel is distant from the mainstay of Brussels tourist attractions. If you are public transportation savvy, this issue is mitigated. The rooms are larger than the typical European hotel. However, the Deluxe Room is not well suited for 3 travelers. The rollaway bed takes up all the free space. If you are traveling with more than two persons, either split up into two rooms or upgrade to the suite. Breakfast is overpriced. Save your money and go to the nearby plaza to have breakfast at one of the many restaurants there. While the bar is also overpriced (what hotel bar isn't?), the bar-tenders make great drinks and know several drinks from around the world. If they don't know it, they are more than willing to make it for you. As a former Asst General Manager at a California resort, I was impressed with the level of service given at the hotel. Reception/front desk staff were always helpful and the Concierge was always on point. Many of the employees are student interns from Les Roches (Swiss hospitality school) which adds a truly international feel to the hotel. Overall a good experience and will return while on business.

We (two adults and one ten year old) stayed at the Renaissance for a weekend in February, and found it fantastic. Although it is at the heart of the EU district which is quiet at the weekend, it is ten minutes walk from town or the train station. The staff are lovely people, the pool is very nice and the place is spotless. Our room was huge with separate sleeping areas, and a dressing room. Like a suite really. The bar staff were nice and the prices were just a shade over the regular street price for a glass of wine. However, the breakfast is very expensive and I would recommend eating elsewhere.

The hotels.com price for this hotel was great--much lower than I would've expected for a 5 star hotel! It was a beautiful room in a beautiful hotel. And the bed was very, very comfortable. The hotel was very close to the European portion of the city; if someone were on business in that part of the city, the hotel would be great. The hotel was a bit further from some of the tourist areas of Brussels, but the hop on/hop off buses were not far away.

Great hotel with everything you need for a relaxing few days. Staff were friendly and helpfull. Room was lovely. The only problem was that the air conditioning didn't work very well which meant we had to sleep with the window open and it was pretty noisy with the music at the nearby bars going on until 1am. It's a lovely walk into the centre of brussels and only takes around 15-20 minutes. I would certainly use this hotel again but would probably upgrade to a club room.

Bewertet von George aus New York am Aug 25, 2008
By "European Standards", this is truly a 5-Star Hotel. The only difference to a US Hotel of this calibre is that the basic room will have 2 twin beds,(or 1 King), instead of 2 Full beds. Other than that it has all the amenities you would expect from a Hotel of this class. Spacious room,(for Europe), with full size desk, lounge chair, table, minibar, real closet, full bath, garage for your rent a car, fitness center, jacuzzi, and even a swimming pool, (rare in a European urban hotel). This is a purpose built hotel, (about 10 years old), not a converted historic building or renovated hotel from the 19th century, and therefore it shows in the quality of the hotel. The staff is very nice and helpful and the location is good in the diplomatic quarter,(5 minute walk to the Royal Palace and 15 minute walk to the Grand Place). The only drawback I can find is that certain amenities are extra, like parking, internet, minibar and breakfast. However upon arrival you can upgrade any room to "Club Level" or something similar and it will include all of these extra amenities. I would recommend this hotel to all that want high level comfort and service at a reasonable price.

Nice, centrally located hotel in Brussels, 1 minute from Louxemburg Square (plenty of bars with outside sitting area). Friendly staff, nice, comfortable room. Bit small for 5* hotel but perfectly acceptable. The only shock - underground parking. DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR THERE, find space on the surrounding streets. For the most part, was a good hotel. But be warned...just because you put a do not disturb sign on the door, it doesn't mean your request will be respected. They will first knock to disturb you. If you don't answer, then they will call to disturb you. If you still refuse to answer, after you leave, they will leave a terse note telling you that no matter what; their policy states every room gets checked every day. Out of the way in a quiet square with a few expensive restaurants. Cold pool, but great exercise room that is a health club. So don't expect users to be only from the hotel.
