Copthorne Hotel Manchester - Salford

I stayed here for two nights at the end of August two thousand and nine for Arsenal game. Thought hotel was located excellently. No more that ten minutes walk from Old Trafford stadium. Thought hotel was lovely. Staff very pleasant. Plus hotel also across the road from garage so excellent for getting treats and excellent for motorists going on a drive about city, you can refuel here. Also excellent for eateries from KFC to Pizza Hut and Harry Ramsdens just a couple of minutes walk down Trafford Rd therefore no need to travel to find a meal. Stayed in a Quey facing room. Best decision I made. What a lovely view to wake up to in the morning. Room was lovely as well. Plus theres Sky Sports on the tv for sports lovers. Come here. You wont regret it.

Very good hotel which is just located nicely for Manchester,best thing to do is catch the 200 or X5 bus as this caused quite a lot of confusion when we first arrived.Sky TV in the bedroom is a nice touch too. Ideally located for the Trafford centre and Old Trafford.Manchester was a little disappointing but China Town is a must and very good value,overall the hotel is ideal for a couple of nights away.

My boyfriend and I stayed while we went to the Manchester United match. The room was lovely, clean, firm matress and a really clean en suite. Its pretty close to Old Trafford stadium, about a 5 minute walk which was great. This isn't exactly the place for shopping or a good nightlife as you have to travel into town for these things although the Lowry outlet mall, is close about a ten/fifteen minute walk. The food is a bit pricey but as it is a four star hotel its expected, a little over rated but nice all the same. The staff were great very helpful, however if travelling try opt for the bus as taxi's are pretty expensive even when booked through the hotel and the bus stop is just outside the hotel. The metro link is also just down the road. All together, a good hotel, clean with friendly, helpful staff.

Great location for Old Trafford and Lowry Museum/mall. Very friendly and helpful staff. easy access from motorways. Rooms at front hear noise from main road which often went on till early hours. All in all good value and will definately stay again.

A pleasant location overlooking the quay, the downside was the room itself. A dirty bathroom, with soap scum and grease all around the bath and tiles, cold water pressure low cleaned teeth in bath! broken lampshade. and bulbs not working, definately not worthy of the AA 4 star rating. I am still waiting to hear whether they have found my phonecharger only housekeeping has the answer .

The location is great - nicely out of the city centre so very easy to get to by car. There is a large free car park which will save you about £16 / day compared to city centre hotels The tram link couldn't be closer (exchange quay station is just over the road - takes 15 minutes to get to Moseley street which is the closest stop for Deansgate, or 20 mins to Picadilly Gardens) There are plenty of restaurants about 5 mins walk away and the Lowry is about 10 mins walk away. The hotel itself is modern and stylish, the rooms are all of a high standard with all the amenities you could need. The staff are friendly and knowledgable about the local area. Considering the breakfast is a self-service buffet its of a very good standard, and there's someone to fry eggs on demand which is a nice touch. There is a large terrace overlooking the Quay which is lovely on a summer's evening

I was very impressed with the hotel it was worth the money charged, my room had view of the quay and was very clean. Had to wait a while to book in but was there early and room was ready so they let me have the room a bit eariler. The breakfast was lovely but did have to pay extra for this do think it sould be included in the price. If i ever stay in Manchester again I will always first tray and stay here.

We booked the hotel at the last minute after getting tickets for take that. . Our choice was based purely on reviews we read on line. Clear directions , A warm welcome and secure parking created an excellent first impression. The hotel maintained this imaqge throughout our stay, One observation rather than a critisism....if you are expecting a lot of guests to return at the same time after a local concert, please ensure enough bar staff. Not fair on the guests or the Bar staff

On arrival,there was nobody available to help with our bags from the car into the hotel.Going to dinner in the evening,after being seated we had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes before being asked if we would like a drink,and at that time,there were approx seven diners in the hotel restaurant. I have to heavily criticise the breakfast voucher system the next morning. Had to queue for approx 15minutes,as every guest were asked if they wanted the bill attached to ther room bill,or were they paying for breakfast there and then. Are well travelled and have never experienced such a crazy system.

the staff in the hotel were very approachable and nothing seemed to be a problem, the hotel was very clean and lovely surroundings at the quayside.

The disappointing thing is there is no airconditioning. The good things - close enough for Old Trafford and the food was good.

booked this hotel for the Champions league final and was very impressed, perfect location for Old Trafford, right next to Metro. The only problem was our lock broke in the morning so we were locked in!! Even after this I would recommend this hotel to anyone, Clean, Tidy, Good Service!!

Great hotel and price for the location... 15 min walk to Old Trafford and right next to the metrolink! I only wish there were more restaurants in the area.

This was a most disappointing stay and certainly not up to 4 star standard. The dining room at breakfast time was utter chaos. The lightting in the bedroom was abysmal which made it very difficult to read. This hotel needs a wake up call and the person who "gifted" them four star staus needs his/ her eyes tested.

This is a delightful and convenient location. the room was very comfortable with a nice view and everything you could need BUT out of 20 or so Radio Stations there was no BBC radio 1, 2, 3 or 4 - the most listened to channels in the UK. the energy saving lamp bulbs were all very dusty and one did not work they had no kippers for breakfast - not a massive big deal but if its on the menu it should be there

Stayed overnight.The bedroom was roomy and comfortable.We requested a 'quiet' room on the top floor and this was fulfilled. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, tho' the dining room was understaffed and the staff were 'run off their feet'!

The hotel is convenient for Old Trafford, a bit of a long walk to Salford Keys if you want to dine out or go for drinks. The bedroom was fine but the grout on the bathroom wall tiles could do with being re done.

This was my second time to stay in the hotel, and again I was impressed by the attentive staff on what was a busy match weekend

We enjoyed the hotel as it was so close to Old Trafford, and the bar scene after the game was enjoyable and upbeat (OK they won)

Bedrooms and bathrooms are not four star standard, they need a complete refurbishment and updating. We booked a standard double, not knowing that all standard bedrooms front on to a busy road and are beside the metro station, we moved to a quieter room but had to pay an extra £20 per night, it should be stated that standard rooms are noisy rooms on websites when booking.

We booked this hotel for its convenience, not quite in the city centre and yet only a short tram ride away. When we arrived there were a lot of people milling around the bar, they were having a Christmas party and were about to go through to the dining room. We were welcomed at the reception desk and advised that the party would be moving through shortly. Unfortunately, because of the parties, we wouldn't be able to eat in the restaurant, but food was available at the bar. We found the room to be nice and clean and ideal for our needs. When we went down to the bar, the crowds had cleared and we were able to have our food in relative peace. Highly recommended. There are the local attractions of the Salford Quays to investigate and the shopping outlet but as our purpose was for Christmas shopping we will have to visit them again. We would certainly use this hotel again and recommend it to our friends.

We found the Copthorne to be a nice, clean and tidy hotel. We have used it many times when attending a concert at the nearby Lowry Centre. The hotel represents good value for money as a hotel.com room rate, but now has plenty of competition with other hotels recently built in the same area. All in all, worth it to stay here and have no complaints whatsoever. Secure car parking available at hotel which is a bonus.

Enjoy staying at the hotel the room is very clean and you get a warm welcome as you walk through the doors. The only problem I found was that I rung up at 2am to order my paper in the morning and they told me it was too late. After speaking with the manager I did get the paper complimentary. The breakfast is great and very filling.

we stayed at the copthorne for a football weekend and we found the hotel ideal with old trafford only around the corner, the hotel was very clean,the staff were helpful, it has a small bar that gets very busy when theres a match on,it has a nice restaurant but not cheap, food was ok, not much outside the hotel in the way of local shops or pubs, the war museum and lowry centre are just a short walk,if you are going to old trafford for a match this is the ideal place to stay

my wife and i,along with a group of friends decided to book here as i knew it was a very nice area(salford quays)and most of us had tickets to see United at Old Trafford.the hotel was very modern,stylish and comfortable.on arrival our rooms werent ready but we received half price breakfast vouchers for our inconveinence.the staff were all very helpful and pleasant and breakfast itself was top class.it is only a 5 minute brisk walk to reach the home of the(english and european)champions.it costs £9 in a black taxi to city centre and £19 to the airport.this is the best hotel i have stayed in Manchester.definately will go back!

My husband and I booked the Copthorne for two nights during our trip to Manchester and we loved it! We had no regrets ... the quality of service was excellent as was the condition of the hotel. Room was very clean although it became very hot during the night as there was no air conditioning. However, overall I would highly recommend the Copthorne Hotel to anyone ... couples and families.

Really disappointed with the hotel, was more like a premier inn than a 4 star hotel, on top of this the shower head didn't work so I wasn't even refreshed in the morning. A waste of money for even the cheaper price I paid.

i was there with my son for a visit to the rugby league grand final at old trafford and then to man city v liverpool the next day. a nice weekend! the hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable. it is a five minute walk from old trafford and obviously ideal for anyone visiting the ground for football. we did not eat in the hotel but there are lots of restaurants just a two minute walk from the hotel. the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. overall i would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting manchester

Comfortable well-postioned hotel in great postion for doing business in Manchester

Stayed here the night after a Man Utd game. Close to the ground and not overrun with football fans either before or after the game. Very convenient and very accommodating. Would definitely return again.

The Copthorne at Salford Quays is one of the best hotels that I have stayed in. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels.The entrance to the room is by a key card, and mine was very difficult to use. Even one of the staff had a problem with it but maybe I was just unlucky with it. You can breakfast or dine overlooking the Quays. It is just a short walk to the Quays, where the Lowry Centre can be found. I would definitely like to return

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for quality of room, facilities and serv ice. Booked a quayside room which afforded super views of the Manchester Ship Canal. Plenty of opportunity for jogging and riverside walks. No gym/pool but free access to nearby Esporta Club. The location couldn't be better for the business traveller. Away from the insane hustle and bustle of the city centre but easy access on the tramline (Exchange Quays) to the centre of town. Lots of restaurants nearby - I dined at the Lime Restaurant, just opposite the architectural masterpiece which was the Lowry Centre. Breakfast at the hotel was sumptuous - the Continental was so comprehensive, there was no need for a cooked breakfast to bolster one up for a day's work. Will be happy to return when the occasion arises.

Good clean hotel, the staff were friendly and efficient. I didn't eat there so I cannot comment on the food. My room was comfortable and clean. I had a good nights sleep. No air conditioning though and the room was quite hot. My room (316) was on the road side of the hotel, I slept with the windows open and I didn't hear the road noise. Easy to get to and good parking. One plus point was the alertness of the car park security. I had to go to my car late at night to get some computer gear. My car was in the corner and security were obviously monitoring the security cameras as they came to check that I was meant to be there. Maybe they have a lot of car crime though or worse, I look like a criminal.... Good experience. I would return.

My husband and I travelled to Manchester for an interview and stayed for one night at the Copthorne Hotel, Salford Quays. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. Our room, a Classic Double, was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed (including an iron and ironing board). We had a drink in the bar which was also friendly and comfortable. We didn't want to stay in the city centre so the Copthorne was ideal, easy to reach by car. There is a tram stop directly across the road from the hotel, which was also ideal as it only took a few minutes to travel to the city centre. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Copthorne next time we visit Manchester. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We had an excellent time and would definitely go back

Hotel is located in a industrial part of salford along with other hotels, office blocks and some restaurants which are conveniently located a 5minute walk away from the hotel. Checked in swiftly at the hotel all very efficient. Room was a decent size overlooking the carpark but no matter we werent there to stare out of the window all day! The biggest problem with this hotel is the heat, the room was unbearably hot and stuffy even with all the windows open. Unfortunatly the windows are only able to open slightly from an angle which im sure is to deter peole smoking out of the window! But does not allow enough air into the room to breathe and have a good nights sleep. Also I would mention the shower was very hot also and even the coldest setting was still hot and not at all cool. Im just glad we werent there on a hot summers day! The staff were excellent and helpful when we wanted to smoke outside by the quay. But I will say prices for drink and food are expensive. If i was to visit salford again I think I would look for a hotel with air conditioning which i dont think is too much to ask from a 4 star hotel!

The hotel was perfectly position for getting into manchester city centre, two minute walk to the tram stop and the trafford centre which was 5 minute drive away. The staff were very welcoming and the hotel has a very nice lobby area. However the room in which we stayed (a classic double room) was very dated and in desprate need of been modernised. However it was clean and had everything we required.

Hotel room was fine, however had not been properly "reset" after previous occupants; the minibar had not been restocked, the wake up call had not been reset (resulting in us being woken up at 5.30 AM on a Saturday morning). No major problems, but little irritations. From a hotel with a £180 walk-in price tag, I'd expect better!

On arrival the staff were very friendly, chatty and welcoming. The hotel is out of town but ideally located for Man Utd football ground and the metro link into the centre was situated just over the road. We did not eat at the hotel it seemed a bit pricey for us but there was a garage over the road selling snacks i.e. sandwiches, pasta etc.,. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of space in the room and fridge, iron and ironing board were welcome extras. I did find the room too warm during the night even though it was freezing outside.

Really nice hotel at a really reasonable price. Don't expect a cooked vegetarian breakfast though.

whilst first impressions were very good room very nice and clean that bathroom was very tatty and the towels had stains on them.

Have stayed at many hotels over the years, this has to be in the upper best quarter, not particulaly expensive for the weekend I stayed, very clean and tidy, good sized bedroom and bathrooms, and its trump card has to be the fact its only 50yds from the metro station, meaning once parked up for free, mobility to the centre cannot be any easier

The room we were given bore no resemblance whatsoever to the rooms shown on the hotel website. It was dark, dingy and very outdated. The window did not shut properly resulting in an unwelcome breeze throughout the night. Service was not of 4 star standard. Staff congregated outside our room the next morning, shouting and laughing and generally being a nuisance. On the whole, we were thoroughly disappointed with this hotel and its service standards.
