I had the most amazing experience from another era at the Queen Anne. What it lacked in little luxuries (no valet)it more than made up for in experience. The moment that I walked into the lobby, I was in love. Every detail made me feel as if I was staying in a hotel in San Francisco in 1910. What a delight-fantastic staff, amazing lobby, great for hanging out and playing cards by the fire. I loved staying in this hotel. The breakfast was not gourmet but it was free and substantial enough to get me through lunch while saving cash so that I could splurge on other things throughout the day.

The Queen Anne is a completely gorgeous hotel, very Victorian throughout, and our stay was superb. The location, too, in Japantown, was ideal for getting around the city, as it is smack in the middle of everything. Our only complaint would have to be that the continental breakfast is a bit lacking. All that aside, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I celebrated our first year wedding anniversary at the Queen Anne Hotel. The customer service was excellent! We planned to stay one night, but the next morning we decided to stay another night! Why? Well, let's say the bed was sooo comfortable we slept like babies and hey the atmosphere was so relaxing! Every morning continental breakfast is served, which includes, pan sausage, boiled eggs, danish, toast, bagels, fresh fruit, cereal, and juices. The only difficulty was the parking, but it was out weighed by everything else. Oh, and to top everything off we stayed off Octavia Street (my name :)! We will definately be taking our parents to this hotel with with character, comfort, and romance. This was the best find ever! You have to stay at the Queen Anne Hotel!

Bewertet von einem Hotels.com Gast am Jul 19, 2009
The Queen Anne was a unique experience. The place was filled with antiques that appeared to be left from the previous owner which was a Episcopalian all girls school. Everywhere you walked you can find something new and interesting to look at. The lobby had a fire going in the fireplace and was a very comfortable place to sit and chat. Plus there was mention of a friendly ghost in room 410! How cool is that? On a more practical note our bathroom appeared to have been renovated recently and was quite nice. If you like the usual boring, standard next to the airport type of motel the Queen Anne may not be for you. But it certainly was for us!

This place was fantastic. If you like a hotel with alot of character and uniqueness not seen in the every day chain type hotels, stay at the Queen Anne. The continental breakfast was great, the room was spacious, and even though they are kind of tagged as a B&B, every room has its own bathroom, which exceeded my expectations. And, it's only about a 15 minute walk (mostly flat and downhill) to Union Square. My wife and I will definitely go back and I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Frumpy, but full of character. A wonderful really old building with great tall windows, a bit over the top with Victorian red velvet and worn around the edges, but not like any other hotel. Bewertet von Cynthia aus Minneapolis am Apr 13, 2009
This old Victorian mansion, remade into a bed and breakfast style hotel is delightful. The furnishings are authentic - even though I suspect some of them are newer the decorating has remained true to the period. We had a King sized canopy bed in our room as well as a fireplace, in which we enjoyed a fire each night. Breakfast is so-so, but enough to get you out the door with. The staff was great at making resturant suggestions as well as with directions to different bus lines. We purchased a 3 day Muni (bus/cable car) pass for $18.00 per person and used it extensively. I believe the cost may be increasing due to economic issues, but it would be a bargin at 20.00!

If you don't mind doing without some modern niceties, like level floors, strong water pressure in shower, this is a good hotel for you. The decor is very nice and we enjoyed our stay. The wireless Internet did not reach our room, but I was able to get Internet from the comfortable chairs & sofas in the lobby, by the fireplace. Continental breakfast was not great, but was acceptable.

First trip to San Francisco, this hotel was recomended by a friend. I wasn't sure about it at first but my girlfriend persuaded me to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a character and charm all of its own. It was like walking into a museum of yester-year. The Staff were very helpfull and cheery. We went on the Ghost walk on the last evening of our stay(which was fab). The hotel is supposedly haunted with a great number of sightings on the fourth floor. We had a great time, great experiences and met some nice people. The hotel is situated in Pacific Heights with good transport links.

Bewertet von Cara aus Fresno am Sep 15, 2008
I loved the lobby and the furnishings in the lobby level...my room was on the 4th floor and could use some new curtains and paint. At the very least, they need to launder the curtains and replace the carpet... and perhaps repaint the trim around the doors. The carpet was that dreaded dark green color and pretty old and since I travel so much for business, I have come to think of it as a "coverall" color that doesn't enhance any decor I've ever seen. With a little TLC, the rooms here could be great. The bed was comfy and for being such an old building, it was fairly insulated from the noise of the room next door. I did have the room directly next to the elevator and I expected (correctly) this to be noisy. The lobby staff were hospitable and helpful and very professional. Since this is a B&B, you cannot get room service, but they gave me delivery menus and there is a comprehensive little grocery store right across the street with ok wines and cheeses and snacks. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

Having lived and worked in San Francisco for many years the lack of A.C.-- central heating -- having to go to the 1st floor for ice posed no problem. Sure its old and a bit tattered but then again so am I and the place reeks of history, character and possibly a few ghosts. If you are a plastic fantastic this is not an appropriate domicile for you. Nice staff, free coffee, tea.and a laptop in Lobby. Also some kind of free breakfast that I wasn't able to work into my busy schedule. Also only a block or two from japantown that like hotel isn't overun by obnoxious tourist.

I don't need a lot, so if you want a lot of fancy hotel stuff this isn't the place for you. Also it's an old building, so you kinda want to rip out all the carpets and clean everything. Not that the place isn't clean, it is, but it's not new. If you're into old world Victorian you'll love it. The room was super cute, and the bed was really comfortable. I can't say enough about the service. Everyone was very nice, and very helpful. Plus they had a complimentary car service in the morning that would take you anywhere in the city except the airport.

The Queen Anne was cozy, comfortable and friendly. The staff was very helpful about everything I asked of them. Just two suggestions: 1. improve breakfast which was just okay and could have been presented in a more attractive fashion. 2. Redecorate the entire hotel. It has so much potential - great space, interesting architecture, large rooms, wonderful woodwork. It just needs an overhall with new fabrics, furniture, pictures in the rooms - at least, mine. Despite my suggestions, I had a very nice stay, and it was well worth the money.

If you're in the neighborhood, you should check out the lobby and dining area -- they're very interesting with all the Victorian decors. Overtaxed front desk reception, was unfriendly and curt! Due to phones ringing, guests asking questions and checking in. Inside corridors need paint badly, inside rooms dingy paint jobs and little attention to details is missing. Room was quiet, sheets were well worn, so the "bed and breakfast" aspect went totally missing. Breakfast in the mornings was a disappointment with minimal food for what should be a continental breakfast.
