"good hotel bad parking"

Good hotel, but parking is expensive, all the hotel offers is $28 valet parking and street parking is not available. The best bet is to park at the public lot (50yds down the street) and just leave your car there and walk everywhere. You cannot take your car in and out of this lot.

The only complaint is that the ac wasn't cooling the room below 76. We came in late so we didn't complain. The hotel location is in a good area to walk the french quarter, riverwalk, bourbon street, or gamble at harahs.

Hotel Management is terrible. They fuss at you for things other people did or do. I will never stay there again. Glad to be away from that hotel when there are so many others that are really great. Hotels.com is a great place to find a hotel.

The check-in took almost 45 mins and I was the only one at the desk the room had been reserved..I had a confirmation number and all and still took 43min (exact time).. the room was no available that was reserved and then they had to check to see if the room that was given to me was clean because it showed somebody had moved out of the room to another room....the toilet seat was broken off the toilet on the floor....the bed had be used and the AC didnt work.....so i figured thats why the moved the previous guest......since I had already paid for the site I was stuck like chuck.....the location was great but the hotel stay was an experience that I could have enjoyed a little better....

The room decor was nice, along with the size and price. However, I were disappointed when there wasn't enough lighting and eventhough there were two (2) lamps, neither had light bulbs. We thought we were getting a good price for the room until they said parking would be $28.00 per night. That turned my smile into a frown. Travelers beware.....please check the price for parking prior to booking a room in or near the French Quarter. It will cost a bundle. Other than that we had a blast! Thanks

The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was great close by to Canal Street, Harrahs, lots of shopping and restaurants. We walked to Bourbon and Decatur without any trouble.

The staff is very nice. The room is another story. You pay for what you get. It looks nice but it does have it's problems. To turn on the shower on look for the black nob at the bottom of the handle,this will say you 5 min. I wish they would clean the room a little better, you can tell by the bathroom floor. But it is a great room for the money and location. And I am sure they would have cleaned if I asked because the staff were all nice. I would stay again.

Room is in a great location for Bourbon Street, shopping and Harrah's. Staff was very friendly. Att first we were in a room without a window but after asking they moved us to a room with a large window with lots of light.

The first room was a box with no window and hardly room around the bed to move plus the air conditioner did not work well. Got moved after several hours and complaints to a much bigger and nicer room with good air conditioner and windows. There was an additional phone charge and a room safe charge that I felt were hidden charges above what I agreed to pay by the on site hotel. I guess there will be a sheet and pillow charge next. Overall, too much of a hassle to use them again or recommend this hotel.

We weren't expecting much after reading other reviews but did not experience the same issues as others. The room was reasonably clean, shower was hot and bed was comfortable. If you're expecting room service or to be greeted by a friendly doorman or concierge, stay somewhere else! There are no amenities such as room service, pool, or robes (although the wardrobe said one was provided it was not there). Our in-room safe was broken, the curtains were off the rods, we got body lotion instead of shampoo in the shower but other than that it was a pretty tolerable room. The restaurant next door was nothing to write home about.

The biggest and overal the only problem i had with the hotel was the room we were in had a motion sensor on the thermostat for the AC. it was extremly warm in the hotel room and it seemed the only time the AC would kick on is when you opened the door . the hotel staff was extremly friendly and helpful . One of the valiet guys even helped us with our bags to the room . im hoping it was just the room we were in . for the price even with this problem i would go again . i would just drag a fan with us next time lol

I liked my room even though it had no windows. It was a nice, cool place to retire to. I really liked the staff and felt very comfortable there. The hotel is just off Canal Street and so very well placed so you can walk to the French Quarter and Riverwalk easily.

The hotel is in a Great location! However, it is old, not very up to date. The bedding appeared as if it had been used for the last twenty years. It was worn, torn and frayed. The room matched the bedding -- visible dust on all the baseboards, bathroom floor appeared to be the original flooring, bath fixtures were rusty, TV did not fit into the recessed area and the beds were very cheap iron poster beds that were attached to the walls with galvanized brackets. The hotel also charges a fee to use the in-room safe, even if you don't use!? Lastly, they have a room service menu which included breakfast but, the restaurant is not open for breakfast!? Needless to say this property needs quite a bit of attention. Even given the price I paid, I would not stay there again.

I was diappointed with my stay at this hotel. It seem to be one thing after the next. We went through five or six rooms before we came across one that was half way okay to stay In. Then we valet the car and when wanted our car they told us we could walk and get ourself it was freezing cold that night. The maid never came to fix the bed or bring more towels. There was a big trash can sitting in the hall way by our room that smelled horrible. I hated going back to the hotel. This was the worst hotel I every stayed and I have travel many places

The staff was very helpful. They stored our luggage and valeted for us hours before check in and even allowed us to store again after check out so we could stay in town longer. Everyone was very helpful and polite. There was an unpleasant smell in the halls, but the room was great. Will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel, with an outstanding rates and within a few short blocks of the French Quarter. Equally distant is Harrah's Casino. If your room isn't getting cold enough, simply call down to the front desk and tell them and they will send up a repair man. Within 5 mins you'll be getting that much cooler air!

Very good location. Decent hotel. Bathroom renewed. NO room service. Not enough towels / complimentary soap (they always took it away!) PHONE did not work and COMPULSORY FEE for phone, but it doesn't matter if you use it or not...

This hotel did not mean my expectations. No hotel parking I had to pay for valet parking just to have a parking place. Hidden fees upon arival, and our room was not clean (found an old cheese cracker behind TV) The rooms were very small and you had to order out for room service

My girlfriend and I decided to take a spontaneous trip one sat morn over breakfast...we looked at each other and said that we'd rather be having breakfast in the quarter so we looked up a hotel for the night and hotels.com recommended the Pelham for a very reasonable price and the service was very hospitable...great beds too

Stayed here for a night; the receptionist was a girl around 16 yrs old. She was texting in one hand and reading a book in another and not really bothered about the guests. If you are just looking for a place to stay and have no concern about customer service etc. like me, this is a pretty decent place to stay. Its close to Harrah's and the French Quarter, that's all that I needed.

That and some other "amenity" fee..upon checkout, you get a second bill for 23 bucks w/that on there which they don't tell you you pay when you check in or when you book the room and pay their "fee." Plus,I found a nice, dirty box of cigarettes stuck to the inside of the drawer beneath the TV, there was no soap, and the water barely came out of the showerhead. Lovely.

We stayed for two days at the end of October. The heat was not on. The highest temp for the two days in the room was 61 degrees. We were not told of all the hidden charges until we had checked in. Extra for the phone, the internet, whether we used them or not. Pet charges were way above reasonable, and the parking was $28 per day. The next time we stay in New Orleans we will try to find a better hotel.

We ended up paying TWICE the money we were lead to believe it was going to cost us. We paid Hotels.com and we paid Pelham Hotel with all their extra added on charges that we were not given a choice whether we could pay or not, i.e. in room safe, local telephone use. The room was not clean, i.e. had old kitty litter in the bathroom corner & black dog hair on the bed blankets. Initially we were placed in a room without any windows and one (1) lamp--you could not read a book in bed due to BAD light. Our "reserved" room had been given away the day before per the reception desk. After complaining, we were given a larger room with 2 windows so we could read in bed. This was the room with kitty litter in the bathroom & dog hair on the blanket, yet they claimed it was "cleaned". NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!! Taken for a ride

I wasn't considerably pleased with the hotel but I just needed a convenient place to sleep and shower and I didn't want to spend too much. The location was good and they let me check in early which was wonderful. The staff was charming, but the room was less than satisfactory. In the three nights stay, I only had housekeeping visit once and they left no towels, new toiletries, or coffee replacements. I called to request towels twice and finally had to go to the front desk to get them. The toilet was backed up all weekend and never flushed properly. The television stations were all static and I was not at all pleased with the extra daily charges for conveniences I did not use. Although I can't rave about the hotel, it fits what I paid for the stay so it's proof that you get what you pay for in The Big Easy or anywhere.

This was my second time staying at this hotel. The first stay, I was in a room with a window, this time no window. If you could get a room with a window, it is decent for the price. Without a window, definitely not worth it.

Upon check-in we were shown a dark, drab room w/out windows, more like a prison cell. Then shown another, larger room with large windows but a weird lay-out. No privacy curtains on windows. Room had not been properly cleaned and hotel looks run down. Price was ok but regular price listed is a joke. The only good point was the location close to French Quarter and Casino.

Hotel has potential, very nicely decorated with a historical feeling to it. Location also good, next to the casino and only one block off of Canal St. But service and maintenance are bad. Water pressure was terrible, lighting in bathroom was poor, A/C system in ceiling leaked condensation onto floor. Also heat and A/C are motion-sensored, so you have to be in the room for them to work. If you're gone a long time, it takes forever for the temperature to straighten out when you get back. Valet parking is a horrible price and is really slow, but since the hotel uses somebody else's parking garage, it's your only option. Constant construction and road work around the hotel, but that's probably normal for anywhere downtown. Will try somewhere else next time.

first of all, when we arrived we were not "greeted" we were ordered what to sign and where to go. The lady at the fron desk was less than hospitible. We were told there was a mandatory fee per night for phone and internet and since there was no parking at the hotel there was a hefty valet fee also. When we got to our room we were shocked-there were no windows! i've never been in a hotel room with no windows before and i have to say it felt like a storage unit. the housekeeping service was just as hospitible as the front desk lady and they grunted at us daily. also, at one point we called down and requested a wake up call. we were asked if we didn't have an alarm system in our room-we didn't. we also never received a wake up call! we were very unhappy with the customer service of this hotel and the actual hotel didn't make up for it. it was average at best. the listing says there is a restaurant and bar on site and we never saw that. to make things even better, when we checked out and had our car returned to us, it had been wrecked on the way back. it wasn't a terrible accident- but it had been driven into a wall and the back was scratched up from what appeared to be a concrete wall. the valet service sent someone over to take a photo with their phone and give us a couple of little papers but in the end it seems our insurance will have to pay anyway. we had a great time in new orleans despite the terrible service at the hotel- the location is great! but we we will never stay there again nor will we reccomend this hotel to anyone!

After reading the reviews,I expected better.Maybe I'm too particlar.It's a small boutique hotel on a deserted street.I wouldn't advise walking alone.In fact,I forgot my phone in my car & my husband wouldn't let me walk to the car alone.The rooms are very small.The bed comfortable.Pillows too flat.Showers only.It was just OK.I Wouldn't recomend it to my friends.

AFTER ARRIVALING AT THE HOTEL THE BELLMAN INFORM ME THAT IT WAS NO FREE VALIDA PARKING WE HAD TO PAY 30.00 PER DAY OR PARK ACROSS THE STREET, SO WE PARK ACROSS THE STREET, I GET THE OUT TO CHECK IN AND WE WAS TOLD THAT THE ROOM WAS READY SO I GET THE KEY AND GO TO THE ROOM I COULD NOT GET INTO THE ROOM WITH THE KEYS I HAD SO I WENT BACK DOWN TO THE FRONT DESK AND ASKED COULD SHE MAKE SURE THE KEYS WORK PLEASE SHE SAID AND I QUOTE THEY DO WORK SO I WENT BACK UP TO SEE AGAIN THE KEYS DON'T WORK SO I GONES BACK DOWN TO THE FRONT DESK AND THEN SHE GIVE ME SOME MORE KEYS THAT WORK ONCE INSIDE THE ROOM W\IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A KING DELUXE ROOM WELL IT WAS HOT THE AIR WASNOT WORKING I CALL DOWN TO THE FRONT IT TAKE MAINTENCE AN HOUR OR AN HOUR AND THE HALF TO COME FIX THE AIR, AFTER THAT IF IT WASN'T ENOUGH THE WATER WAS NOT GETTING HOT AGAIN I CALL THE FRONT DESK AND SHE SAID LET THE WATER RUN, I SAID THE WATER HAD BEEN ON FOR 30 MIN AND STILL COLD SO I WAS TOLD THAT NO ONE WOULD BE IN UNTIL TOMORROW SO I SAID OK AND HANG UP, THE WATER GOT HOT AFTER 45 MINUTES OF CONSIST RUNING DIDNOT STAY HOT BUT 10 MINUTES THE HOUSEKEEPING WASNOT ANY BETTER WE WENT OUT TO TAKE SOME BUSINESS AND CAME BACK THE ROOM WAS STILL DIRTY WE WAS GONE FROM 8:30AM UNTIL 5:30PM AND AFTER WE GET BACK INTO THE ROOM HOUSEKEEPING CAME TO THE DOOR, I WAS UPSET MY EXPERIENCE WASNOT A GOOD ONE THIS HOTEL NEEDS A LOT OF IMPROVEMENTS

The staff at the hotel was very nice as well as the location. However the hotel its self needs some TLC. The first room that we checked into did not have working hot water in the shower so they moved us. The second room was much better but the air conditioner did not adjust and it was freezing cold. Wasn't horrible but could have been better.

An old, elegant hotel hardly noticed on a small, quiet street. It is only one block from the great Canal Street and one and a half blocks from Harrahs Casino ... where you can get one of the best buffet breakfasts for much less than the typical price. The hotel was completely renovated in 2007 and has modern bathroom fixtures etc. The staff was friendly, but poor at following up on complaints or requests. The first major drawback is the poor housekeeping. The room lacked a chair so was promised one pronto, but provided. This continued in spite of repeated requests the second and third day. (Oh well, I could lace up my shoes while sitting on the toilet stool!) Also, the glass top of the night stand was very unclean and never cleaned during my stay. Another annoyance was the bath drain stopper had to be physically pulled out since the drain lever was not working. Also, the air conditioning seemed to be stuck at one temperature and not adjustable. The second major drawback are hidden fees unknown in advance of booking. Internet Access is charged every single day ... even if not used. The Room Safe is charged every single day ... even if not used. These charges should be communicated upfront. This could be significant! If you can put up with these drawbacks, the reasonable room price and hotel location are excellent.

When I initially stayed at the Pelham Hotel on last year, the rooms were clean and there were no additional fees regarding phone usage etc. On my return trip, additional fees were assessed and the rooms were not well kept. Someone entered my room to clean eventhough I had a do not disturb sign on my door. This was very unnerving to know that someone had entered my room. The staff was not helpful as far as "on street parking." I was not pleased with my second stay at the Pelham Hotel! Native New Orleanian Visiting Home
