Insgesamt : nettes Hotel, netter Service, nette Leute.

The hotel personnel was rude and anything you ask for, they don't have. We went out on the town one time and came back to the hotel and was advised the valet parking lot was full and there was no where else to park. But I am staying at this hotel, and there is no where to park. Their attitude there is very bad. Their towels in the room were dingy and nasty looking. The room smelled like dead rats. I would never stay at this hotel again. I would like to recommend Country Inn and Suites that is located around the corner.

Hotel built into very old building... routes to rooms are equivelant to a rat in a maze. Initially given an inside room that had no windows at all. Non-functional ice machine (it was 95 degress outside). Minimal visitor information in the room including NOT mentioning the fact that their continental breakfast was only from 7:30 to 9:00am.

The only bad things were... There was supposed to be an iron & ironing board in the room, the closet was bare, just wasn't there. Holes in the bed sheets. A picture I believe that was supposed to be hanging over the bed was sitting sideways next to the TV cabinet. The good things were... The room got plenty cool for me. The bed was very comfortable. Loved the wet bar area, coffee pot, garden tub, wood floors, & work space.

I never imagined that we would have to request a window in our room! Upon arriving we found a large brick wall where the window would be and a tiny tv. Not to mention dirty towels still on the shower rod from the previos guests. When I notified the front desk of the dirty room they said " someone will be right up " needless to say they never came. The hardwood floors were so waxy that if you didn't have on rubber soles you would fall!

The air condition unit would make this loud noise almost every hour on the hour and would startle me--I barely got any sleep. The room was very small and needed fresh paint. There was a dead cricket in the bathroom which also needed fresh paint and some real cleaning--the grout was very nasty and didn't look sanitary. The bed sheets nor the comforter looked very fresh. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

This is the second time we've stayed here on a trip to New Orleans. The hotel does not have the best ammenities, but for the price, this is a great hotel. The location is perfect and the staff are friendly. Beware, we've been charged a fee (~8) by the hotel on the way out both times.... still worth it, but factor that in. Parking was free both times, but I think it was because we booked through hotels.com.

I should have learned my lesson from my January stay. There is always a free parking voucher on the website, but somehow the Ambassador never honors it. Also, a resort fee of $8 is added once you get there. I booked here for convienence to French Quarter, but I did not save a dime with all the headaches this place gave me.

The hotel is located on the other side of Canal St., but not too bad of a walk for the nightlife. The room didn't have real windows, so make sure to set alarm clock. The bathroom need to remodel. The tiles in the restroom was kind of dirty. Besides the restroom the room was great for its room.

This could be a really charming hotel. The staff is really nice and tried hard to please. However, the cleanliness is not great. I thought the first room we had was dirty because there was a layer of dust over everything and the sheets and towels had stains on them. We got another room and realized their first room was actually clean because the 2nd was worse than the first. Overall (I can say that since I saw two of their roooms) this hotel needs to work on getting the rooms totally clean. The walls had dark marks and white patches. The bathroom tub had mildew and mold stains. The floors were horrible; corners were clean, tile grout in bathroom had stains. Way too much dust over everything especially since there is no carpet. Towels and sheets had stains and hair on them. Stayed the entire time due to budget issues (we did get a good rate) and didn't have time to find another hotel, but will not stay there in the future. It is a shame because the staff is great and the location is great and this hotel has the potential to be a great boutique hotel with a great new orleans feel.

I had stayed at the Ambassador once before and had a dreadful experience involving reservations but I was willing to give the place another chance. This time, the only problem was when I discovered I had been given a non-smoking room instead of the one I requested. But our room was most conveniently located to the front of the hotel and my wife had no problem stepping outside to burn one with the other "nicotine misfits."

We have stayed at this hotel many many times but will not be returning anymore. The beds use to be sooo very comfortable. They have done away with the pillow mattresses and the big nice duvet covers. I did ask the front desk if other rooms still had them but they do not. It is now a hard hard mattress with those thin thin blankets that grandparents have.

My Ambassador hotel stay was everything I wanted and more. Great service. Great room. Great location. (I attended a conference at the convention center.) There is only one thing. They charge a mandatory $10 a day fee for the internet and continental breakfast. The owners need to include that in the hotel rate. I understand they want more customers. But it is underhanded not to include it in the price. Now that you know this though. Stay at the Ambassador.

This hotel is convenient to Harrah's and the Riverwalk and offers a comfortable room for a fair price. However... Upon check-in, I noticed a sign at the front desk that stated there was a $7.95 per day fees for the use of several services such as phone, internet, etc. Since I didn't avail myself of any of these services, I asked the clerk upon check-out not to be charged for them. She stated that it was on the web site and that I had to pay whether I used them or not. While I visited many fine restaurants in New Orleans while there, not one of them tried to charge me for a dessert I didn't eat nor want. This is similar. Why should you be charged for something you didn't use? The room rates for the hotel are certainly reasonable and would be even if they just rolled the $7.95 into the room rate. To foist it upon customers as they do left such a bitter taste for me and my wife that I would not go back. Indeed, I intend to complain to everyone that will listen and will do my best to discourage others from going there.

This hotel is located within the more quiet business district, but within walking distance to french quarter. We arrived and had an interior room that smelled heavily of smoke, but the staff was extremely apologetic and switched us to a room with a window. Great service, staff was very helpful! I would reccomend a room with a window, interior rooms feel a bit small.

The exterior facade of the Ambassador Hotel and the lobby are very impressive from the pictures on the internet and even in real life, but that is where the charade ends! This would boutique hotel has long been forgotten! The concept is that it is an old, historic boutique hotel full of old world charm (exposed bricks, hardwork floors, and marble accents). Unfortunately the furnishings have not been replaced in only God knows how long and the place doesn't appear to have had a good cleaning in years!!! It was completely disgusting! The towels and bed linens were dingy and I was afraid to shower or even get in the bed. I let the water run for about 15 minutes befor getting in the shower, because the tub that used to be white was beige from the lack of cleaning. Had it not been for the fact that I didnt check in until 11pm and that I had pre-paid through Hotels.com, I would have gone to another hotel!!! This hotel experience reminded me of when I was in college living in campus housing that did not allow guests of the opposite sex to stay oernight. In order to spend "quiet time" together, one could rent a motel room not far from campus by the hour. Often, students would overstay their time and the housekeeper would knock on the door in an attempt to evict them so that she could quickly run in, change the sheets and put in new towels for the next couple. This was done at the low, low price of $10 an hour!! It was disgusting then, and far more disgusting now; a la Ambassador Hotel - cheap and nasty! I itched all night night long and slept maybe 2 hours; I checked out as soon as the sun rose. I would not recommend this place to someone I hate!!!

We were on the bottom floor so we could have a window. (upper rooms with windows were full) Looked out window, and homeless people were sleeping across the street in the alleys and such. Kind of scary, but where in NOLA isn't a little? Only complaint from hotel is the air wawsn't able to be thermostatically controlled. It was either on meat locker or off. We had a cow staying above us, and being as there are beautiful hardware floors, we heard every single move across the floor. Food at restaurant was great. I would have let my kids stay there with me, so no big complaints. Caddy-corner to Harra's Casino, and very close to the riverwalk.

Even though this is what I had paid for weeks in advanced, two teenagers slept on a hardwood floor that night. No cots, no beds, or even extra blankets avail. We were also suppose to receive free valet parking but were told the parking lot was full and we had to drive around and find our own parking and at our expense. I do not recommend this hotel
