The Edison Hotel - New York

Dieses Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen und für ein 2.5 Stern Hotel super! Das Hotel ist aber relativ alt und daher sind die Zimmer nicht mehr super vom Komfort her.

close to times square and nice quiet hotel Restaurant was closed at time of our stay due to health inspection regulations but was open on our last day of stay so we had breakfast there. It would be nice if they could do a breakfast deal for families similiar to the hampton inn group. Big spacious rooms and very comfortable beds.

Was very disappointed with my room. Brought my nan to New York as an early 70th birthday present. Booked two doubles & got one double. Complained to front of desk & told the hotel was full & I agreed verbally (which was a lie) so couldn't be moved. I told them I agreed there was two of us for two nights, I would never agree to accepting one double. We were then told come back at noon the next day which we did. Then at noon we were told come back at 2pm which we did again (wasting more of our time in NY). We were put in a room with two singles which was better but not what we paid for. The plus side of the hotel is it's location you can't fault it but the front of house staff are very rude and not helpfull. I would recommend this hotel purely for location & if you book twin beds.

Ok so it's not The Ritz and is still expensive for what it is however compared with everything else in NYC this place is on the cheaper side. It oozes character and is ultimately right in the midst of things with just a couple of blocks walk into the heart of Times Square. It's clean, a little dated and frayed around the edges but the bed and pillows were the most comfortable ever and the room is a reasonable size for a short break. I was recommended this hotel by someone who had stayed there twice and I would definately go back again and would pass on the recommendation to all.

room service when call needs improvement.

I booked based on Hotels.com recommendation. The price was excellent for a convenient location. I had a nice corner room with two views - one of the Hudson River. I would stay at the Edison again.

This old hotel is really great. The rooms are clean and big enough. All the staff is so nice and helpful. The resturant downstairs has really good food and service. The location is easy access to downtown Manhattan, Library, park, theatres and Chinatown.

Great Location, It must have been a good hotel in 1930's, but has never come out of bthat era and is in drastic need of facelift, new decoration and furniture.

The first room I was given was disgusting!!! There was mold growing on the walls and on the shower curtain. The bathroom was also not cleaned. I found hairs in the sink and in the bathtub. Also the towels were already used and just haning over the shower. I called to switch rooms and spoke with a foreign lady who could not speak English, I had to ask to speak to her manager. He tried to tell me that we could leave for an hour and come back so they could clean the room, but he couldn't pay me to stay in that room even if they cleaned the bathrrom because really what could they do to the mold?!? He still wanted me to wait an hour before I could be assigned a new room. I told him I will be downstairs in 5 minutes for my new room and I'm not waiting. The new room was better, but not by much. Although it was more spacious and it seemed to be clean the dingy smell and overly outdated room was not worth the money. This hotel was ridiculous! They even make you charge for ice and internet! Please find somewhere else to stay!

very snobby front desk personnel, unhelpful, seldom makes eye contact during conversation with clients, don't bother to help even with smallest requests, for example, we were told to wait in the lobby for over 2hrs for our room to be ready when we arrived on time, I asked the clerk for a knife or scissors to cut the tag off my new sunglasses, he basically shrugged it off, the guy who works in the gift shop helped me even though it doesn't fall into his job description.

Although the hotel is in Times Square, the room was a dive, horrible bed, bedspread, old big television, toilet running and leaking water, manager never assured us he would transfer us to another room, nor did he have anyone come and fix the toilet. All the staff I encountered were rude and unprofessional, especially the manager, who later lied when I went to check out the next day. Booked for 3 nights left after 1 night. I would never stay there or in Times Square area, too many tourists. The Radisson Lexington and the Roosevelt were beautiful hotels, wonderful, friendly and professional staff and quality sleeping facilities. I loved the Roosevelt, classy.

between the ratty hallway, the smelly wet paint from room next door (made us think what on earth happened in there?), cheesy decor and hard-as-cardboard bed, this was a bizarre lodging experience. my daughter & i who were only staying for one night, felt like we were on the lam or filming an episode of "Law & Order" -- in a room where something not-good was going to happen. The toiletries were in tiny sample pouches. i couldn't get consistent hot water. we couldn't wait to leave. the price was good, and we were only in hotel for 8 hours, so it met our short-stay purposes. but even 8 hours seemed too long in this place

The Edison is located right in the heart of Broadway's theater district. It has security, valet parking & is an outstanding value.

The hotel is located 1/2 block from Times Square which was great. The room was a nice size and very clean. The only negative was the air conditioner which was not working properly so even though it was on, I woke up during the night feeling very warm which kept me awake most of the night. Other than the A/c I would definitely stay there again.

I was very impressed with the hotel for the price we paid. The location was PERFECT!!! The room was clean. I would have preferred a bigger bathroom with a counter top (it was just the sink), but, for one night, I can't complain. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!!!!

The hotel was fairly clean, however the beds were old and uncomfortable. The shower kept getting cold and hot. The air conditioner did not work good at all. When you called for room service they didn't answer. There was no ice or ice machine. The location of the hotel was great, and the price was good.

air conditioning is very spotty!!

The location of the hotel was the only nice thing about the Hotel Edison. Upon arrival our room was still being cleaned well after the 3pm check-in time. Once we were finally able to go in the room the toilet did not work so we then had to switch rooms. No comps were even offered for the aggrivation and inconvenience. The service was terrible and something as simple as ice for your room costs money. The pictures displayed on the web page look nothing like the room you stay in. Parking cost is ridiculous. The outragious price of stay is not worth the cost what so ever.

This is the thrd time I stay in Edison Hotel. Its proximity to Times Square makes it a pretty handy place to be in N.Y. The hotel is not new, but it is very confortable and clean, offers good auxiliary services (such as wireless internet access),and its staff is very courteous ad customer oriented. I do recommend Edison Hotel either for doing tourism or business in N.Y.

for the price i paid in the middle of time square it was a perfect room. it was small but right next to the hotel and theatre we were going to. we really only wanted to the room to sleep and change so it served its purpose perfectly. if you're looking for luxury you probably want to go elsewhere. but if you just need a place to crash for cheap in a good location and still feel safe, this is the perfect place.

I stayed in the Queens suite which was an extremely small room but given that it was NYC in the heart of Times Square it was expected. The staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend this hotel if you are not looking for a room too pricy in the heart of Times Square.

The hotel is literally one block from Time Square so you can walk to local shopping and eating. Great service, very clean all around especially the room which was a standard size, not too small. It is a older hotel, but what it lacks in luster it makes up for in location and quality of rooms.

Right near Radio City Music Hall, etc...easy to walk to everything I wanted to see and experience.

Old hotel not very well kept. For NYC this hotel should be spotless! Also they charged us $67.00 per night to park our vehicle. Next time I will get my vehicle a room -- it would be cheaper.

Not very luxurious, but you can't beat the price and the location...1/2 block from Times Square.

The location is great if you want to go to theatre or be near Times Square, but the room was terrible. The room was shabby looking with peeling paint, awful bedspreads, dirty curtains and the beds were very uncomfortable. The bathroom had no ventilation and the place had a musty smell. I stayed there about eight years ago and liked it, but the hotel has definitely declined since that time. i could never recommend this hotel in the condition it is now in.

The Edison is a short walk from the heart of NYC/Times Square and is an excellent value for the traveler. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

While this hotel is a bit older than some the cost was excellent for the location and the parking. Finding parking in Times Square is trying at best. The "in and out" parking for $32 could not be beat. The only two complaints that I can think of are the older air conditioner that did not cool very well and the fact that we were double booked our room. While they upgraded us to a larger room for free, this was not "fun" to deal with at 2:00 am when we checked in.

Although the room was EXTREMELY shabby it was also clean which is whats most important to me. We really were just sleeping there and the beds were comfortable. The location is good, right off Times Square. I would pick another hotel for my next trip but we did get value for the money we spent. We were able to get a suite for the same price as a regular room at nearby hotels. That really came in handy after a week with the kids.

the hotel had a great location, but no ice!!! you had to pay for ice. and our shower head was broken and sprayed more outside the curtain than inside the shower. the valet was nicest people out of the whole place, the desk people could use a attitude check! other than that it was a great stay and they even let us check out late with no problem. i would stay again and this time i wont forget the ice :)

I've been living in the city for over 2 years, but I needed a place to stay temporarily. This is a good not-to-expensive, clean hotel with a fair rate.

Have stayed there many times because the price is reasonable and the location is ideal because it is so close to Times Square. They seem to make gradual improvements, although the rooms are on the small side but okay for the price you pay.

Edison hotel has a great location if you are trying to stay in Times Square/Broadway District. The lobby is bright and inviting. Doorman checks to make sure that you have a key, before you go up the Elevators. The transportation desk located in the hotel was amazing. Got a super price for a shuttle to the airport. The room itself was fairly small. The bathroom was tiny as well. However, only staying one night made it acceptable. I had 2 problems with the hotel, which were minor. The first being. I needed an extra pillow and had to call down twice to have someone bring it up. The second thing..no vending machines/ice machines on ANY of the floors. The giftshop had Pop/Water, but it was warm. However for the price and the location I would stay here again.

*Excellent location if you are there to soak in the touristy part of NYC. *Like most things in NYC there is a charge for everything, including ice. *professional and helpful staff *older property but it has its own style and I loved that part about it

good value for the terrific location; the adjoining neat lounge/piano bar was an unexpected surprise

For the price, it was fine. So close to Broadway, it was extremely convenient.

I was not a fan of this hotel... It was okay for the money, however there are many hotels within walking distance to Time Square that are cleaner, better amenities, have decent beds, and are clean for the money. I wouldnt recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
