Electra Hotel - Athen

I've heard that most rooms at the Electra are spacious, but some are small. We selected a "standard" size room with one bed, and were put in room 812, and it was apparently one of the small ones. But the worst was the bathroom - it was so small that you could barely close the bathroom door once you were inside the bathroom (and we're very thin people!). Other than that, we have no complaints. The room was very clean and well-kept, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the location can't be beat! So maybe get a larger room, but it's a nice place to stay.

The location is prime but the hotel is not really good. Bed is very uncomfortable and you can hear guests in the room next door. Wouldn't stay again at this hotel but definitely would look for a place in the same area.

Hotel staff was very friendly. Greeted us right away, and although I speak a little Greek, they were more then comfortable speaking English. The room was a good size, clean and well taken care of. Closet area had plenty of room for both drawers and hanging items. Room had a refrigerator fully stocked, electronic safe and a flat screen which had HD channels. The hotel's location offers easy access to Plaka, Monastiraki, Syntagma Square, The Acropolis and other Athens must see hot spots. It also sits at the top of Ermou St. which is an outdoor mall/shopping area. My only complaint is tht the rooms are noisy. You can hear the room next to you but it wasn't too bad.

Great location at a great price. Bathroom is extremely small, but new. Quiet day and night.

I went to Athens for a conference so I consider myself as a business traveller. Location was my first consideration. The hotel is situated just off Syntagma sq so the location is brilliant. However, you can get a much cheaper hotel if you're willing to walk for 5 minutes more. My biggest disappointment was the Internet access. The speed was so slow you couldn't do anything other than checking emails. Even doing that was a pain. Note that Electra Hotel isn't Electra Palace Hotel. I made the mistake thinking there were swimming pool and other facilities. There weren't!

Great location for the tourists, close to many attractions.

Very convenient location for visiting the main tourist sites, and for shopping. Hotel itself was not that impressive- room was not totally clean and smelt of smoke. No view at all from our window

great location, close to bus lines and the underground and major attractions in the city, very modern and up to date interior, staff were very helpful. They were happy to bring us ice every evening after a long hot day of exploring. The morning breakfast was extremely good for European standards. I highly recommend this hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would return here.

Great location, friendly and responsive staff,clean and comfortable room, excellent buffet breakfast, we will go back to it soon.

Great location and the rooms were nice.

The hotel and its location were great. The location was actually outstanding. The hotel restaurant was excellent both for breakfast although we avoided the restaurant in the evenings because of the waiter who was arrogant and nasty.

The Hotel Electra has one of the best locations in Athens and is convenient for all the sights and all the nightlife. Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced it is a great bargain !

Large (even by US standards), clean, very modern rooms. About the best location you could ask for - off Syntagma Square, just across the street from the metro. The hotel is on a street that's closed to traffic and lined with shops, street musicians, and buzzing with activity day & night. You can walk to the Acropolis, the President's residence, Olympic stadium, Hadrian's arch, and many other sites.

The Electra hotel is a very nice hotel in a very trendy part of Athens. The hotel is on a pedestrian street in the fashionable part of Athens. The Parliament building and national gardens are across the street. There are a number of eating and upscale shopping opportunities and a metro station is just a block away. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. If there is a negative, the bathroom is definitely on the smallish side. If you have just a couple of days in Athens, this is a great choice.

The air conditioning in the room did not work the second night. Other than that, our stay was very good.

We had a great stay at this hotel. They were very accomadating allowing us to check in early and when we had an early flight they even provided us with an early breakfast. the location of the hotel is central to everything and located in a very safe area. We were very pleased and would stay here again.

The hotel is located very conveniently for an unfamiliar guest of Athens. Loved their service, their breakfast and clealiness. Would stay here again if wanting to stay in the center of a a city! No complaints!

Right in the middle of Syntagma Square. Just a few blocks from the subway drop. Found it very convinient and worth the money. Nice breakfast was included in the stay. I would stay there again.

In the heart of the Plaka district, right off of Stygmata Square and Stygmata subway station and bus stop, and within walking distance of all major landmarks. Standard rooms were adequately sized, however, bed was very firm.

The hotel location is close to metro easy to access all of athens. Rooms and bath are very small. Staff is very professional and helpful. Buffet breakfast was very good. Overall a good place to stay.

Great Hotel in Downtown Athens! Within walking distance of shopping, great resturants, and historic sites. I would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel Electra is located across from Syntagma Square and is conveniently located, with a Metro station about 400 feet away. It is within easy walking distance to the Plaka district, the Roman Forum, and the ancient Agora. The staff are excellent. Moreover, the hotel serves a substantial American-style breakfast each morning. For those who get tired of Greek food (and the high prices at the restaurants), there's a McDonald's just across the street. An important recommendation: Don't exchange currency at the exchange booths but use the hotel instead. You'll get a better rate. Our only complaint was that the walls are very thin. We stayed in room 404 and were frequently disturbed by the people in the room behind us. If only the hotel would invest in some additional insulation!

If you are a couple that is looking to be in the center of it all in Athens, this is an affordable and overall nice hotel. Rooms aren't the biggest and bathrooms are quaint at best, but for the price and location, it's well worth it. It's right on the same street as the best shopping in Athens and is literally 300-400 yards from a main train station. Other than a single person, the reception desk was very helpful and offered excellent service. There was one person that seemed as though we were bothering her every time we asked a question or made a request. Other than her, everyone was great. They offer great tours right from the hotel, so ask them and they will schedule everything right there for you. Wifi is also available at 17 EU / day, which isn't that bad. Nice breakfast and nice dining as well. I give it a 3 1/2 stars as opposed to the 4 they boast only because of the size and age of the rooms. Service and location 4 1/2 stars.

The staff is very helpful. The breakfast is delicious. The location is terrific. The rooms are very small. The mattresses are uncomfortable, not firm. The A/C is not strong.

The location of the Electra is right in Syntagma Square, a block or so from the Metro subway station, right accross from the Parliment building where you can see the changing of the guard, and on a walking street with many shops and cafe's located close by. The hotel was clean, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our room rate included buffet breakfast which was fine, there was a variety of foods to choose from, not just the typical rolls and coffee. Our room (a double) was on the front of the building (street side) and we had a balcony overlooking the street with all of the shops (like in the photo on this hotels.com website) the door to our balcony opened and it provided wonderful night breezes. Although it is not a brand new hotel, our room was updated recently, and the hotel was well kept. We requested in-room wireless internet access, and that was readily available (for a fee of course). I would definately stay there again.

The hotel is modern, clean and well-run. It's right on a busy street full of shops. It's close to the metro station, Parliament and well within walking distance to the Acropolis. The room is pretty comparable to standard rooms in the U.S., except the bathroom is pretty tiny. But it's modern and has all you need, including a real electric hair dryer and a nice shower. They put two twins together to form a king but they're made up as twins, and the beds were pretty firm. Seemed like a good deal, but still expensive since the dollar is so low against the Euro.

This hotel exceeded our expectations on several levels. From its easy location via subway from the airport, we had only a short block across Syntagma Square to the hotel. We arrived at 10:30 am after a long overnight flight and were given our room immediately. The bed was very comfortable, the room reasonably spacious and clean. I wanted to bring the showerhead home, it was so good. Staff were very nice, many speak English, wanted to make our stay pleasant. The included breakfast buffet was generous, with great coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice every day. Athens is a walking city and it is easy access to everything you come to the city to see from this location on Ermou. Street is event in itself, lots of high end shops and shoppers, interesting street performers and actors. Would recommend this hotel for a visit to Athens.

This hotel more than met our expectations, great location, wonderful hot and cold breakfast items and very comfy clean room and bathroom. Would not hesitate to book this hotel again

Air conditioning was practically non-existent, the room was very small, and the floor creaked. However, on the plus side, the breakfast was quite good with a lot of variet¥.

The Hotel Electra was terrific. Located right in the heart of the shopping district, but also close enough to the sites to walk almost everywhere. Staff was great, rooms were large (compared to other European Hotels I've been in.) Really enjoyed our stay and would definately recommend.

Our stay at the Hotel Electra was extremely comfortable. We were steps from Syntagma Square metro stop, right on Ermou (major shopping). The staff was helpful and polite. The breakfast was excellent, and included. The bed, lumpy. Major problem with the shower, as the handheld showerhead would rotate on its own under the power of the water pressure, causing a wet mess in the bathroom.

Our stay at the Electra was amazing. The location was perfect.

Located in downtown Athens, it's a less than 5 minute walk from the bus/subway station (we took the bus from the airport - about 45 minute bus ride). Acropolis is easy to get to via the metro subway. Hotel is very nice & pleasant - a bit pricier, but worth it. Room is a decent size for 2 people. Quiet at night. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Just remember that drinks provided in the mini-frige in the rooms are expensive, including bottled water. Overall, highly recommend (if you're not on a tight budget)& plan on staying at this hotel again in the future.

Situation idéale : près du centre, du métro, de l'Acropole et de Plaka ; service très correct et pdj idem. Malheureusement, chambrs et sdb sont minuscules et donnent sur une cour intérieure (seules les twins -trop rares- sont un peu moins exigues et donnent sur la rue Ernou).

Hyfsat hotell, juste personal, bra läge. Dubbelrummet vi hade kändes ganska trångt men var i övrigt ok.

Her manglet vi ingen ting. Svært sentralt beliggende. Renslig og god service. God mat - spesielt nypresset appelsinjuce til frukost.
