Hotel Regencia Colon - Barcelona

Als Schwesterhotel des direkt daneben liegenden 4Sterne Hotels sind der Service und die Zimmer wirklich sehr gut. Dass es kein Restaurant im Hotel gibt kann man angesichts der vielen Bars in der direkten Umgebung bestens akzeptieren. Es war ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt, auch wenn es nachts auch mal lauter war in der Umgebung. Sehr gerne wieder!

Dieses Hotel ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt für eine Stadtbesichtigung. Bus und Metro sind in unmittelbarer Nähe. Obwohl es direkt am Hauptplatz liegt, war die Nacht absoult ruhig und störungsfrei. Leider war ich nur eine Nacht dort.Ich kann mir aber ohne weiteres vorstellen, längere Zeit dort zu übernachten. Dieses Hotel kann man nur weiterempfehlen.

Hotel staff very helpful and informative. Only thing missing in the room was a kettle - would have been nice to be able to make a cuppa.

we were booked for the regencia colon, instead they moved us to the colon, which was next door. i guess the other hotel was booked. no problems though. the staff was nice and right out the front door was the cathedral. great location for seeing the sites. the metro was only one block away. i enjoyed my stay here.

Good Hotel in center . Staff very friendly. Room was good, You could hear your neighbors but it was fine. Price was decent. I would go back. Note: for internet they send you to wifi only at sister hotel across street. Internet cafe with cheap phone calls too is 3 small blocks away.

If you want a hotel reasonably priced in a great location in Barcelona, then this is for you. The major disadvantage is exactly the same reason - it is so centrally placed that there are always a lot of people around and so the area tends to be very noisy all of the time. If you are a light-sleeper then this is not for you. When I arrived I had a room that had a connecting door to the next room. The door was paper thing which meant that when the people next door were talking it was like they were in my room with me. This was disturbing in the middle of the night! There were also people in there who kept trying the door. I spoke with the staff and they were very helpful and understanding and they changed the room as soon as they could. The staff generally were very nice and helpful. Wi-fi is available with a code generated by the desk, but you have to go to the Hotel Colon next door and it only works in their lobby.

Starting with the positive, this hotel is situated nicely. The location is wonderful, just one block from the cathedral and a couple of blocks from Las Ramblas. We walked to everything with ease because of the great location. The price was high, but given the location was acceptable. The room, however, left much to be desired. We got a corner room, which was small due to its location. Perhaps the other rooms were more spacious, but this was very small. The bed was hard as a rock and didn't even give when you sat on it. Furnishings and linens were extremely dated and worn from use. The downfall of a great location is street noise, and this hotel has plenty. Against our better judgment, we attempted to sleep on the hard bed, but obviously couldn't get comfortable. But even if we could have found any comfort in the bed, the street noise kept us awake all night. It echoed into the room as though we were reveling along with the passers by. As though that weren't enough, every time we or our neighbors used the toilet or ran the water, a high pitched aria of screeching would fill the room for several minutes. Perhaps we should have taken that as a sign to get up and go join in on the fun outdoors! The room was very clean (floors, bathroom, etc.) and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was overpriced. The common areas need a deep carpet cleaning (lobby & stairs)and the interiors would benefit from an update. We wouldn't stay here again, but if you do, ask for a room in the back. That won't soften the bed or eliminate the ear piercing pipe sounds, but it may minimize the street noise.

perfect location for seeing Barcelonas sights. We walked everywhere from here as it is so central. The hotel is spotless with helpful desk staff. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Great hotel in a fun area. We were not out late at night but the area great and really fun to walk around. Less than 10 min walk to PL Catalunya. Can easily take autobus from airport and walk to hotel.

I had read that the rooms could be noisy. Although we seemed to be overlooking a quiet area, it was indeed a bit noisy. After the first night I slept with earplugs and was fine. The location is fantastic, an easy walk to La Rambla, the tourist bureau, good restaurants,shops. If want to book tours,buy bus tickets,book shows, I strongly suggest you go directly to the tourist bureau. The front desk will only accept cash and has limited information regarding what each activity entails. The same goes for restaurant recommendations. I got the strong feeling they refer places they have a deal worked out with. The first night we took their suggestion and found ourselves surrounded by tourists. Bathroom amenities are satisfactory and better than other hotels. If you want a washcloth, you will have to ask for one. We never saw ours replaced. The safe is a little tricky and they will probably have to demonstrate how to use it. We did not take advantage of the buffet breakfast 12Euros, there are too many places to enjoy a light breakfast for much less money. Overall we were satisfied with the hotel,mostly because of the location and the safety.

This hotel is in the heart of the Gothic area just steps away from the famous and beautiful Barcelona Cathedral. I don't think you could find a better location. Walls are a bit thin and the beds are a bit hard, but considering the location and price, I can't imagine finding a better deal. The staff was incredibly courteous and helpful. After a pickpocket got my wallet the front desk allowed me to use their phone to make all the international calls I needed to notify credit card companies and banks totally free of charge. Rooms are larger than I expected based on general feedback I had heard earlier regarding the size of rooms in Barcelona. If you want to be in the middle of things and are willing to give up a little comfort this is the place.

This hotel puts you right in the center of the Bari Gotic. It is next to a big plaza and feels very safe. Excellent choice for single women. The decor is kind of drab but the staff is helpful and friendly and the rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Nothing fancy but totally serviceable. Breakfast is a bit pricey considering all the cafes nearby. And if you are sensitive to noise you might request a room at the back. All in all a good value and quite satisfactory.

We stayed two nights as a pre- cruise stay over and fell in love with it. It is right in the middle of the Gothic area of the city. It was easy to get around from the hotel. We took the Airobus from the airport. It drops you off at the city center which is only a couple of blocks from the hotel and easy to walk. The hotel was clean, comfortable and centrally located. I would give it a 5 out of 5.

A superb location next to the cathedral, we were on the spot for walking round the old city and minutes away from Las Ramblas. Very welcoming staff and our room was quiet and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. I will definitely stay at this hotel again if I go back to Barcelona. The location was great with easy access to anywhere we wanted to go. There were 2 adults and 2 teenagers on the trip and we all loved the hotel.

The hotel is in a good location, very central to the Gothic area. The only problem is the noise. You can literally not get to sleep. At night time there were people on the streets and you can't get to bed. In the mornings, you can hear everything incl. the cleaners, the lift door slamming. Worst yet, someone came by our room door and knocked, then ran off. It is extremely noisy so if you want some rest after walking all day, wait till you get home to your comfy bed.

It was a delightful stay in a good location in the Gothic Quarter. Pleasantly surprised at the excellent front desk service. All were very helpful on places to see, where to eat and made it easy by getting reservations to a show and restaurant. It is tucked away...a tad hard to find...heard the noise from outside...but was a great value. We'd certainly go back because of the location and the value.

Hotel Regencia Colon is an extremely good deal for budget business travellers, such as teachers. Located just off the Cathedral plaza, it provides immediate access to the historical part of the city, while offering a quieter environment. The hotel is clean and secure. While no breakfast is offered, it can be bought for 11 Euro plus tax at Hotel Colon across the street, plus there are multiple cofee shops and restaurants in the area.

The overall hotel experience was good. The hotel’s location was great. The hotel and the room were clean. The staff was very helpful with suggesting places to go and eat. No complaints. The room size was fine for the 2 days we spent there.

Hotel is right in the middle of las ramblas and the gothic quarter. hotel staff was excellent, informative, and helpful. Great place if your looking for a place to crash after a long day in Barcelona. Great hotel!

A great location just off a wonderful square. It is a 3 star so dont expect anything more but is perfectly functional. The whinning scooters outside are as much a problem here as everwhere else in our lives. Good value when compared to other hotels in Barcelona. If you are visiting for the sights rather than luxuriating in a hotel then it is ideal.

We found our room to be clean and hotel to be in a great location by the cathedral. A good breakfast was offered at 11 euros,but no other amenities.

The Regencia Colon was situated close to everything we needed to do and see in Barcelona. The Bus Touristic stop was just across the square and we were only a few blocks away from La Rambla. The staff was wonderfully helpful and all but one spoke beautiful English. Our biggest complaint was the hard bed and furniture- moving guests above us on our second night (we have no idea what that was about). By the way, the picture of this hotel on the website is that of the Hotel Colon located in front of the Regencia.

The location was great. Everything was nearby. A little scary to walk at night time. Very clean & good price compared to other hotels in the area. Bathroom was big & we even had a balcony.

The Hotel Regencia Colon was an excellent value for the money. It was clean with a suberp location close to the cathedral, Hop-on Hop-off bus, and the Gothic Quarter. We thought the breakfast buffet was "free", but we were charged for it. Also, the hotel made a tour reservation for us for the following day, but then refused to take a credit card and demanded we pay for it with cash. This REALLY strapped us for money!!!

This hotel was in an excellent location. Parking was available at a reasonable rate. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Location was great for the gothic quarter, but I have never been in a hotel with thinner walls. We could hear people talking as if they were in our room, people lightly in the next room sounded like they were in my bed! There was also a very powerful cleaning smell in the room when we first entered, furnishings were not very nice.

We found the hotel staff very obliging, and the location - just by the Cathedral square and not far from the metro - is ideal for sightseeing. At night it's not particularly noisy since the hotel is in a quiet street, and we had no problems. Breakfast is good, and the staff genuinely seem to care. Comfortable accommodation - not OTT but not too spartan.

For the price this is a great hotel. Clean, intimate and best of all has a fabulous location just off the Cathedral Square. The delicious breakfast is an added bonus. For the price this is a great value.

This was a charming, convenient, boutique kind of hotel. The rooms were very spacious and were nicely equipped with good linens, flat screen tv, refrigerator. The staff speaks excellent English and are very helpful. It is located in the heart of the Gothic district and is very conveniently located for exploring Barcelona.

A fantastic hotel and location, I would highly recommend it. The staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious, clean and well kept. The bathroom was also a good size and again very clean. The fantastic air conditioning was a haven from the sweltering streets. The location could not have been better, stepping out immediately into the old town and its colourful markets, and wandering distance from all the major sights. We hardly needed to use the metro. Definitely spend at least a morning or afternoon on the beach, a great way to relax after sight seeing. The Hotel is great value for its location and facilities. I would defintely return to Regencia Colon.

Great location to the historical district of Barcelona!

This hotel was great, especially for the price. The location is very central to tourist attractions, great food, and great wine!! My only complaint was that it is loud outside-at all hours- when you are trying to sleep!!

This hotel has a perfect location to the oldest part of Barcelona, the Ramblas, and the waterfront. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our only concern was the traffic noise during the night, which seemed to be due to a nearby major thoroughfare. It did not keep us from sleeping well or enjoying the benefits of the central location. We would definitely stay there again.

We were very happy with our hotel, it is in the perfect location to tour Barcelona. It is the step sister to the Hotel Colon, it stands right behind the big hotel, but you can still see the Cathedrel of Barcelona from your room. The front desk staff were polite and professional, but did not go out of their way to be tour guides. Rooms immaculate. Good value for your money.
