Rodeway Inn Civic Center - San Francisco

Nach 3 Wochen Rundreise in Amerika kann ich sagen, dass es sehr sehr viel bessere und billigere Motels/Hotels wie dieses gibt. Wir hatten in den 3 Wochen Urlaub kein schlechteres Zimmer gehabt.

Good size room with two queen beds. Very clean. Bathroom was a bit small and could be updated.

We were going in not expecting much, just wanted a cheap place to stay that had free parking. We were suprised to find a mini fridge that worked great in our room. If your not looking for anything fancy, (and aren't hoping to get advice on where to go from the guy at the front desk, hes got a pretty heavy accent!) this place will definately do the trick.

The hotel was close to the filmore which is why we booked it. no ammenities to speak of except a refer and micro in the room. the tenderloin is close I would stay away from that area. japantown was alright but nothing to do there after dark. ok hotel good price.

kinda like one of those hotels by the side of the freeway. decor bad, room big, set up was kinda creepy. Fridge and microwave was cool, maid cleaned up my room when I arrived early. DO not come here if you plan on romance or want ambiance. Very basic, but comfy, quiet and good customer service

The price was ok for the fact, that the Inn is 10 walking minutes away from downtown (shopping, Cable Cars,...). The neighborhood wasn't the best and I wouldn't have walked there on my own (a lot of drunk and homeless people). The rooms were clean but I've seen better maintained once. The "speed elevator" did it's job but took about 2 minutes to get from the first to the 3rd floor ;D

They had free parking, which was nice, and it was centrally located, though in a somewhat dodgy neighborhood, but it's right on a major bus line that comes straight from Fisherman's Wharf, and is within walking distance to Chinatown, all the city buildings, Market Street... Overall very affordable, met our expectations, great location.

staff was nice. cheap... only in the room to sleep so it was perfect. fridge and coffee pot a plus.... free parking!!!!!!!!

I liked the hotel - the room was clean and tidy, the staff was nice and friendly The location is very central (couple of minutes from the Civic Center).My only concern was that the neighborhood (Eddy st.) is really empty at night and seemed to be not very safe. So I would recommend caution when walking there after sunset. Overall, I'd recommend this place to other travelers.

I was very impressed by my stay. I drove from So. Cal and was ready for a break. Arrived earlier than check in and maid made it a point to clean my room next. Check in and check out was not a problem. Location was great for me. Was able to walk to meet friends then drive about 7 minutes to Fisherman's Wharf. PLUS, could see my car from room. That put my mind at ease since I was moving all my stuff and was in back of my truck. Major plus! My room had fridge and microwave (no extra charge) AND FREE WIFI!!!! This is not a 5 star hotel, but it did exceed what I expected (definitely, not a rat hole).

In downtown San Francisco, so close to public transportation to get anywhere in the city. Parking was included. Good internet service. There were no problems with the place, served as a necessary place to sleep and take showers. We were there to explore the city not hang out at the hotel.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Owners/front desk people are from india so it can be difficult to understand them, but they are very well meaning and helpful. Great location for walking pretty much anywhere--if you are flying in, do call them about the airport shuttle service they provide. It costs $15 each way rather than the $40+ that a cab costs.

My wife did not like it at all but she wont deny the room was clean. It is a few blocks from Civic Center very convenient in my opinion. However there are many street people surrounding the area you know this is San Francisco something to be concerned about good restaurants near by. The only big drawback is the parking very limited and not to comfortable. Some narrow parking spaces with pillars next to doors during my stay I saw three cars with paint scratches one of them mine. I will stay again maybe without the wife.

this hotel is conveniently located and has all the essentials in the room to make the stay comfortable: microwave, fridge, and coffe maker. The walls are somewhat thin and do little to veil the noise from the garbage pick up truck in the morning. No need for alarm clocks. Overall, I would stay at the hotel for business travel.

great value for money

For the price I paid through this website, at this location in SF, I don't think you can beat this hotel. I will always stay here when I go to SF unless either my budget or their prices go way up.

I was a bit worried, because of the low cost and other comments saying it was a bad area. This place was great! The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, and well-equipped. At first my travel partner didn't believe the room would have a microwave and fridge, but it was really everything I could have needed. I will definitely remember this place for my next trip to the city. It's a great way to travel on a budget.

The front desk was hard to understand, but the location was good. The room was clean. The surrounding neighborhood was sketchy, but never felt in danger.

We took a different route than what i printed out on mapquest and got kinda lost, We called the hotel to get directions or to help us out, She didn't speak english well, had no clue where we were or where her hotel was, she said she was on mission street, the hotel was on eddy, There were fences with sharp dagger looking things on the fence, which led me to believe we might get robbed or in the ghetto. Was not as close to the fishermans wharf as led to believe. The hotel key wouldn't swipe through the door and had to keep getting it re-keyed.

If you are looking for a quick place to stay the night and nothing else, this is the the place to be. The price is the reasonable - and the location is convenient. These are a plus for anyone looking to spend more time sight seeing than at the hotel. On the other hand, if you are looking for a place with more than just the basics, you may want to consider other options. Over all, I would stay again, but not more than 1 - 2 nights.

The hotel room was clean but the place itself was run down,messy and drably decorated.The walls were thin and the dustmen came by twice in the middle of the night..The worst thing about it was the area.Bag men and ladies on every corner,lots of mess outside,shouting and smashed car window glass everywhere. I do not recommend you stay here unless you are on a very tight budget.

The staff were great! I made a mistake on my dates on the reservation and she didn't hesitate to find me a room and waited until I got it straitened out. I was very comfortable there and if I have to go back to see the same Dr, I will stay there again. My friend and I did get stuck in the elevator because we didn't know the outside door had to be closed too. I laughed and took pictures of Nell ringing the buzzer so someone would know we could not get out. We had a good time there. For the price you won't beat it.

Great location for my needs. Romm was much cleaner than the last time I stayed at this property. I would stay here again.

Very cheap, good location, goo room, brekfast free Perfect for 2 days

I stayed here for close to ten days, the hotel is a good deal for the location. Located in the heart of San Francisco, getting everywhere was easy. The room was clean and well maintained, the linen clean and the housekeeping staff were pleasant and took good care of us. The microwave in the room was not working, but this is one of those things that can happen to anyone. Other then this item, everything was perfect, I felt comfortable and safe and my interactions with management went well. I have a service animal with me and it took a bit of education on my part to get them to understand that the dog was licensed by the State of California as a "therapy dog" and had been afforded special privileges in the state, similar to a seeing eye dog and by law afforded the ability to stay at the hotel and not classified as pet. All went well for us and we would recomend this hotel to others.

Despite some reviews, I thought the Rodeway Inn was a great deal. I'm familiar to San Francisco, so I knew about the area before I checked in. It's very close to downtown, and there are lots of restaurants in the area. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. I couldn't ask for anything more, really.

this hotel was in a very bad part of town. did not feel safe at all. It was load all night. people walk around out side. (i think hokers) the TV did not work very good. the room was not very clean. walls did not look so good. bath room need to be clean a lot better. The neighborhood was so bad people doing drugs and selling drugs.

I was a bit scared at first before I got to the hotel because I didn't know what to expect. I read all of the reviews from people that had stayed there before and they just put a lot of fear in my mind. But, once I got there everything was different. LISTEN!!! for the money that you pay for the room, there should be no complaints at all. It is a great hotel to stay in, if you are in San Francisco just for a day or two. It is conviniently located. You get what you pay for your money. Are there some areas of improvement with the hotel? Yes, there are. Is it hard to understand what the manager is saying? Yes, but so what. I managed to get my key and they were very accommodating.

Very run down room, and location in the middle of downtown SF. Use as your very last resort. I came into my room, and none of the light switches worked. I had to enter the room (at night) and find all of the individual switches to the bulbs. The bathroom was very run down, due to the age of the building.

The room was supposed to be non-smoking but was not. The location was convenient, but not in the greatest nieghborhood. An employee saw me get something out of my trunk, which was full of stuff, and told me not to leave anything in my car. I told him my trunk was packed full and I couldn't take all of it to my room. He just shrugged his shoulders at me. The parking garage is open all night and apparently they don't have any overnight staff, which made me worry about the security of my belongings. But it was the cheapest hotel in the area so I guess I got what I expected.

Walls were filthy, wall and nightstands had what looked like blood stains, elevator filthy, people sleeping on the streets, chair was broken and stained. I expected much more from the name Rodeway Inn, staff barely spoke English.

I woke up about midnight to go and have a smoke and a homeless lady was in the hallway. The hallway that should only be accessed by hotel guests. If you looking just for a place to lay you head this is it.. Nothing more. Jeremy

Actual is not as nice as described. Non smoking room is not smoke free.

Free parking in San Francisco. That should sell you instantly on this hotel! True, it's NOT in a good area, but I never felt unsafe, just uncomfortable with the homeless and others in the area. But, a plus for the hotel is that it lies directly on a bus line, and it's also within walking distance of the cable cars, so honestly if you're just going to be using the hotel to sleep and a place to park your car for the duration of your stay, it's ok. The room was CLEAN and ABSOLUTELY OK. Ours was just light, because the streetlight was outside our window. Otherwise, the room was cleaned every day and it locked securely - and seriously, if you don't want to pay for an expensive hotel room in SF, this is really ok. Not the best hotel ever, but for the price I was satisfied.

I've stayed at other Rodeway Inns when I travel for work and while I know I'm not getting 5 star service, this particular one was a little lower on the satisfaction scale. The neighborhood is on the "eclectic" side. The front desk adamantly warned me NOT to leave anything in my car due to break-ins. I understand this can happen anywhere but when the front desk is pushing this detail you know you're in the wrong neighborhood. Finally, my iron did not work and when you're traveling for work this is high on the list of priorities. It took 25 minutes to get someone at the 24 hour front desk and another 10 minutes for him to understand what I needed before we went to another room to poach their iron. And what iron did that room get? You guessed it, mine. The one that didn't work. This all happened at 1:30 in the morning but still... I did get a late checkout even though they do not offer it. That was good.

ONLY COMPLAINT I HAD IS THE HOT WATER WASN'T WORKING .. IVE STAYED THERE BEFORE AND NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM AND I FAILED TO ASK ABOUT IT DUE TO THAT WASN'T THE BIGGEST DEAL DUE TO THE CONVENIENCE OF WHERE HOTEL IS AND GOOD BUY FOR THE $$$

The water for shower is cold. I never experience this in any hotel. They said they are fixing this but I didn't see any repairing work going on when I checked out.
