Especially after factoring the free parking, breakfast and local calls, this place probably saved me $30/night, which was on top of the all ready low rates...No fitness facility, of course, but there's a big health club right up the street that only charged $12 for 24-hours which I took advantage of...About a 15-minute walk to Old Montreal. The staff here was wonderful.

this hotel is not for the person looking for something fancy. It's a nice hotel that Is situated in the middle of all the action. Only 15 some steps off of St. Lauruant st. It has a certain charm that travelers apperciate. Tourists should probably stay some where more exspensive. The front desk was amazing in knowledge of the city and had great recomendations for dinner. I had a great time.

This hotel is not the best I have been to and surely is not the worst. The interior is in good condition. Each rooms have its uniqueness to it. Walking distance to St. Catherines. Free breakfast, free limited parking and free internet connection. Exterior needs some improvement and surrounding area not so impressive but Montreal overall is safe. I enjoyed this place for the little extra things it came with. Excellent staff and were very helpful. First time in Montreal. FYI please make sure your room is on the first or second floor. 3rd floor you would have to take an elevator to 2nd floor before taking the stairs. Great for friends traveling on a budget or backpacking. Overall me and my friend were pleased with the hotel.

The front desk staff at the Saint Andre were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Upon arrival were given excellent information about local sites and activities. A member of our group left her car keys upon departure - the staff were very kind and responsive in arranging to have the keys couriered to her home. Although the view was nothing to rave about, the room was adequately clean and water pressure was good. The downside was the noise, noise, noise! We fully understand that an economic hotel attracts a younger clientele to a city noted for its lively nightlife, however, we were not expecting to be staying in a frat-house! Beginning at 2 am, it was literally a parade of noisy youngsters returning from Montreal’s many bars and discos, but that was not the worst part … besides the paper-thin walls, our room had an adjoining door that enabled us to clearly listen to every word (and every tear) from a conversation between a young amorous couple that did not end until after 5 AM, despite multiple phone calls from the front desk to the room asking them to quiet down. In conclusion, if you aren’t looking for a post-party crash paid, don’t stay here over a weekend.

Our particular room had no place to put a suitcase except on the floor and we couldn't unpack because there were no drawers in the room. Our friend's room had a chest of drawers and was a much nicer room. We were charged the same amount for the rooms although their's was a much bigger and better equipped room. I would suggest a call to the hotel to discuss individual rooms as they varied greatly.

Horrible area, if not with my boyfriend I would have been afraid to walk alone. Ruddy old air conditioner. When we checked in we were given a room that had not been cleaned or changed over from the previous guests. At first the reception did not believe us. Bathroom(s) were both teeny tiny and had no outlets. Shower was even smaller in the 2nd room. Knees touched the wall while on the toilet in the 1st room. Small cheap TV and probably only 3 english channels. Curtains got in the way of the air conditioner, so we had to shut them in the windows. Breakfast was not all its cracked up to be. There was a weird air freshner in the room that made a noise every time it sprayed. The room was worse than a college dorm room. It was right off of St. Catherine's St. but the walk to the decent nightlife and bars was easier to get to via the (expensive) metro. We thought it was ridiculously overpriced for the quality, cleanliness, and service that we actually endured.

The hotel was barely noticeable with a sign that was only about 12 inches long. A very sketchy parking lot was across the street from an equally creepy alley-way. After actually finding the small one-way street (in the summer they close off parts of downtown, unbeknown to us) we parked and were given our hotel room. We walked in and realized that the bed had never been made, nor had the sheets been changed, nor had any of the mess from the previous guests been attended to. Once we brought this up the gentleman at the front desk he quickly arranged to give us another room. Sadly this new room was not much better. While the bed was indeed made, the room was like a sub-par dormitory and the shower could barely fit me into it. We were only given one towel (for 2 people) and when we asked for extra pillows we were once again only given one. The breakfast would have been nice if it were for the "toaster strudel" type croissants they leave for you. The hallways smelled funny, and the whole place was nothing that it was thought to be. Not worth the money. If you're going to spend a night in Montreal, spend the extra bucks and stay at the Days Inn instead.

Conveniently located, I would say ideal location; very helpful enslish speaking hotel staff. Free parking. Negative part is inside the room; first, worst bathroom ever seen: toilet seat virtually touching the wall, I had to tilt sideways when I sit there; so I avoided using it during my stay. Low quality refillable body wash; no shampoo; I ended up buing them from local store. Old fashinod standing bath; No platform in bothroom to put your bathroom stuffs that I had to use toilet flush water tank to put my bathroom stuffs. Few english TV channels, navigated through remote controller with non functionling keys. Very old noisy air-conditioner, curtain was blocking the AC vent so had to fold up and tie the curtains with my wife's old hair clips. In overall, had nice stay in Montreal, very beautiful blend of nature, history and modernization.

I did as much research as I could before booking here and my actual experience was outstanding. The closed off section of St. Catherine Street was literally steps away and kept the whole family entertained at times. We were literally within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go. Staff went above and beyond the call of duty and the room was clean and we had more than enough room with 2 kids and 2 adults. Only drawback was the back parking lot. if you can park on the side, do it.

The rooms are very small but the whole hotel was remodeled and the rooms are hardwood floors and stylish modern bathrooms. The continental breakfast was a nice touch, delivered right to your room. The one major complain I had was the complete lack of parking. The parking situation is REALLY bad. There's a small alley way that only fits compact cars and a tiny lot in back that was VERY hard to park in. Other than that it's a great hotel in a good location for the money.

The Hotel St. Andre is conveniently located in the village and is within walking distance to everything I did: namely drink, shop, and Notre Dame. I'm from Boston, so I'm used to walking and being here was just like home. Plus, the Hotel is only 2 blocks from the Metro; which is relatively easy to navigate. As for the rooms, the room I was in was very dormitory style (circa 1970); but some of the rooms have more modern furniture and layouts. Regardless, the Hotel St Andre was perfect for what I needed: a place to sleep and store my clothes. Plus, having a private bath was a bonus. My only complaint was the bath tub needed to be cleaned when we arrived. It had been rinsed; but there were multiple hairs already in the tub, which is off putting when you just arrive. The staff was VERY nice and had suggestions for shopping areas. Plus the provided a better map than my guide book. For 2 stars, it's well worth the price. I would stay here again!

I found the hotel to be more than adequate for my needs. I just needed a place to stay for the night and wasn't looking for a lot of amenities. The staff was polite and courteous. I was traveling alone so the size of the room wasn't an issue. The elevator does not go to the top floor so if you can't climb stairs I would suggest you alert the proprietor when booking. There is a spooky alleyway right next to the hotel you should be aware of. There were people lurking in there but nobody bothered me. Of course I'm 6'1 and don't get bothered anywhere really.

The main desk guy was one of the nicest people I've ever met and gave me all the information I needed for exploring Montréal 'toute seule'. On the positive side of the ledger the staff was extremely helpful welcoming and the hotel was conveniently located near both the Metro and a wide variety of restaurants. Breakfast in bed was a nice touch, the shower was excellent, and the free guest parking was a huge plus. My only negative was that the room was -- as others have said -- very small. Even if we had unpacked, we would still have been climbing over our luggage.

The St. Andre perfectly suited our needs, as far as location and price. My boyfriend and I were just there for an overnight stay, but our visit coincided with Montreal Pride festival, and the St. Andre was right in the middle of it all. Very close to many gay bars and on rue St. Catherine and great restaurants on rue St. Denis- which was a plus for us. They have a first-come-first-serve parking lot, and we were lucky enough to get a spot, since parking in that area is sketchy and/or expensive. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast in bed delivery was perfect. Only complaint was the bedding- it was threadbare and just overall icky. I woke up a few times thinking I was getting bit, but my boyfriend slept fine. Also, our bathroom towels had holes in them. So, in hindsight, I would recommend bringing your own topsheet, pillow cases, and a towel if possible! Happy travels.
