The Lucerne Hotel - New York

Das schöne Boutique-Hotel befindet sich in einer sehr angenehmen Gegend in der Upper Westside mit vielen Gelegenheiten, prima zu essen (in jeder Kategorie). Dabei ist die Gegend sehr zwanglos. Der Anschluss an ÖPNV ist exzellent (mit einer U1/2/3-Station einen Block nach Westen); damit kommt man in 5 Minuten in die Midtown mit all ihren Attraktionen. Das Naturkundemuseum ist nur zwei Blocks nach Osten, und dahinter ist gleich der Central Park. Die Nachbarschaft erschien uns sehr sicher. Unser Zimmer mit zwei Queen-size-Betten war für US-Verhältnisse nicht riesig aber komfortabel. Wir konnten ohne Weiteres mit zwei Erwachsenen und zwei Kindern darin eine Woche wohnen. Der Zustand des Zimmers war erstklassig, wie frisch renoviert. Darüber hinaus ist das Hotel sehr sorgfältig und einheitlich (auch farblich) eingerichtet. WLAN mit kostenlosem Internetzugang war sehr nützlich und hat einwandfrei funktioniert genauso wie der kostenlose Safe im Zimmer. Das Personal war stets hilfreich und freundlich aber nie aufdringlich, was wir lieber haben als die manchmal in den USA zu erlebenden "How-are-you-today-how-can-I-help-you-have-a-magnificent-day-Service-Attacken". Eigentlich wollten wir immer mal woanders frühstücken, aber das Restaurant "Nice Matin" im Erdgeschoss ist derartig gut, kinderfreundlich und mit dem 15%-Rabatt für Hotelgäste für das Gebotene auch preiswert, so dass wir letztendlich fast jeden morgen dort waren.

Wir waren zu dritt (2 Erwachsene und unsere 17 jährige Tochter) in einem Zimmer untergebracht, die Zimmergröße war völlig ausreichend (2 Doppelbetten). Etwas klein ist das Bad geraten, eine Klimaanlage war vorhanden, aber der Betrieb sehr laut. Zur Umgebung können wir nicht viel sagen, da wir entweder mit der Metro (1 Block bzw. 3 Blocks entfernt) nach Downtown gefahren sind oder im nahe gelegenen Centralpark unterwegs waren. Ein Fitnessraum ist im Hotel vorhanden, wir haben ihn allerdings nicht benutzt.

gute lage, guter preis, guter service - dieses hotel ist absolut empfehlenswert. werde es bei meinem nächsten aufenthalt in new york wieder buchen.

The comfortable bed and large room (it was a double) and accommodating reception staff made my one night stay here easy.

Stayed at the Lucerene over Labor Day weekend. Beautiful old-world kind of place. Friendly staff. A nice place to get back to at the end of the day in NYC, only a little bit off-the-beaten-path for a typical day of doing touristy stuff in the city. But also, a lot more price-reasonable than other hotels that are on the beaten path.

The Lucerne is a "home away from home" for us. The staff remembers returning guests...is always cheerful and helpful. The restaurant, Nice Matin is a real plus. If the cable system provided MSNBC everything would be perfect.

The hotel was great; clean, friendly and in a great location. However, during our stay, we had problems with the water. Specifically, it went off, and when it came back on, it was brown and smelly. After awhile it cleared up, but we were unable to receive cold water in our room for most of the visit.

The staff was extremely customer service oriented, the room wonderful and QUIET!

Great location easy to get to via public transportation or car. Great parking rates at nearby garage. Close to parks, museums, restaurants and shops. Safe to walk on local streets.

The thing that stands out about this hotel most is that you really get the feeling that they are there to help you and not to try and squeeze more money out of you. You get a free New York Times each morning if you want it and the concierge, Liz, was fantastic. She spent ages with us talking about the different ways we could best occupy our three days in New York. The things we booked through her were all at the same price you would get on the door of the venue, just without the queues. The hotel itself has lots of character, although as it isn't one of these modern bland affairs the room was a little on the small side but well decorated and kept clean and tidy. Before we went we worried that it was located a bit too far away from Times Square and the other attractions. This was not the case at all as there is a subway station about 100 yards away which seems to run all day and night and is clean and easy to use. There were also plenty of bars and cafes within easy walking distance of the hotel. We would have absolutely no reservations about recommending this hotel and will use it if we ever get the opportunity to return to New York.

I have stayed in everything from hostels to luxury hotels in NYC. This is a very nice hotel; staff was great (gave us a 9 a.m. check-in); room was very comfortable; great linens, etc.; perfect location -- if you love the Upper west side like I do. And the rate was very reasonable. Nothing not to like here.

The staff was very accommodating. I have had smaller rooms at the Lucerne but they placed me in a larger and very nice room.

Very lovely hotel. Walking distance to Museum of Natural History and Lincoln Center. Loads of charming restaurants on Amsterdam Ave.

We had to get a last minute hotel and I was expecting a paying much more for much less. The room we were in was small but the service of the hotel was wonderful. One block away from Broadway was a great location. Tons of restaurants nearby. The maid service was great. I plan on staying there again on my next stay.

Good value and a great location but, the desk staff leaves a lot to be desired. Once you work through the "attitude" the rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable.

Loved location on Amsterdam in a vibrant neighborhood, near oodles of restaurants and shops. It was only short walk to Central Park & Natural History Museum. Did change rooms; rooms in higher floors are quieter. Need to like to get out, as no store or coffee shop, but nice restaurant attached, on the mid/high end.

reception was less than good. Blew all fuses in the room. But Clean and nice room.

My stay at the Lucerne was pleasant: rooms clean and well-appointed. I was there only one night. Was surprised to see that there was a charge to use computers in the business center. And since I have dust-mite allergies, the carpeting, heavy drapes and shammed pillows caused me some problems with allergies.

friendly, efficient staff, clean and decent-size room, convenient cafe with good food and drink and outdoor dining until late, located in the heart of the upper west side near the subway, Central Park and museums.

We walked to the Natural History Museum which was the main reason for our visit. The staff were really helpful and cheerful. The room was great - spotless and nicely decorated. Good beds. Sparkling bathroom. We could even open the window and hear the New York sounds. Excellent value.

It was a great experience, the Lucerne was the perfect choice. The service, the location, and the staff were wonderful and even if the rooms were a little small, they served their purpose because there are so many things to do in NY that you do not spend a lot of time inside. The subway was close, and everything worked perfect for us....I will reconmend The Lucerne to my frieds and I will be staying there in the future.

I have stayed at many NYC hotels, and by far the staff at The Lucerne were the most friendly and willing to assist in any way to make my stay perfect. They offer both self parking and valet.

We made a spontaneous trip to NY and booked a room here. Very reasonable price and is one block from the subway, a couple blocks from Central Park, and a quick taxi ride (think we paid about $7) to Time Square. Hotel was very clean and room was loaded with a flat pannel tv, free wifi, bathroom was well equipped, and the beds were comfy. Didn't have time to try out the gym, but it seemed to have everything you could need.

This hotel way exceeded our expectation. First, the location was perfect for our family stay. Located right next to the museum, and central park, one block from the metro and bus pick up. The staff was splendid. Room was clean, comfy, and everything expected. Sure, smaller than many other hotels, but for NY, probably the norm. If we return, we will look this hotel up for sure.

Would stay here again without question. Lobby beautiful, and rooms much larger than comparable hotels in NYC. Highly recommend

Very comfortable, clean, and classy room, though a tad small. Great location to visit the American Natural History Muesum with my kids, and great restaurants all within a few blocks. Felt very safe walking around in the neighborhood also.

I've stayed at many hotels while traveling and I have to say the Lucerne is an incredible hotel. I have paid twice as much to stay at hotels that are not nearly as nice as this one. The room was beautifully decorated. The bed was luxurious and comfortable. The bathroom was impeccably clean and spacious by NYC standard. The staff was cheerful and professional. I wish I would have planned to spend more time in my room so that I could enjoy all the comforts at little longer.

We were impressed by the location of the hotel (subway, restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy). The Hotel room and service exceeded our expectations. The front desk people and the Bell men were always looking out for you, I've stayed in many high priced hotels in New York and all over the world and I want to say the Lucerne does not fall short to the big name hotels. We will be back!

The hotel was in excellent condition, clean and modern. The location was unbeatable, walking distance to everything on the upper west side. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We required special weekend service and they were understanding and willing to help. Would recommend this to everyone.

The hotel staff was excellent. The hotel itself was very well-kept, and the rooms were very nice. The only problem is that they don't have cots. I was traveling with two of my friends and one of us had to sleep on the floor.

Great hotel and a suprising value. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Room and bathroom were exceptionaly clean. We picked the hotel primarily for location...but will now use the hotel going forward for any other visits.

This hotel beatifully located on West 79th street between Amsterdam and Broadway. Around the corner from Zabar's (quick breakfast) and morning jog in Central Park. Block away from Natural History museum. Rooms clean and confortable, shower excellent, wireless good, service excellent.

Fantastic- service was great and Hotel was everythingwe wanted.

Very clean, nice and quiet, the beds were so comfortable and the staff was pleasant.

I chose this hotel for its location based on reviews like this. I booked the suite because another review said the rooms were small, but my suite was roomy, clean, and very comfortable. The cafe next door was conventient and terrific. The neighborhood is convenient (subway very close) and has many nearby, delicious restaurants. I will definitely stay here again.

Clean, clean, clean hotel. If you are a clean freak like me you must stay at the Lucerne. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Lots of close amenities too. Thanks for a perfect NYC stay !
