We booked as family with 2 kids, had a 2 room suite under the roof (6th level). A/C was out of order and couldn't be repaired during 3 days, so we got free breakfest buffet instead (which was _very_ good). Wooden window frames in bad condition, need repaint. Rooms small but spacy enough. Hotel staff kind and very helpful. We would book again.

I stayed at the St James because it was supposed to be the best. I was completely disappointed. We checked in and the A/C was broken in the room. I called the front desk and they said all they could do is give me a fan. They would not relocate us to a different room. That night we wanted to have some wine in the back outdoor restaurant. We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited for someone to bring us a menu. After about 25 minutes we decided to leave. Do yourself a favor and save your money for a hotel that wants your business. I sent a complaint letter to the hotel and they never contacted me. The hotel and management are a complete joke. There are some nice hotels down the street.

I love the central location, the courtyard and clean public spaces BUT the hotel has failed to deal with problems of plumbing (no water in the first room I was assigned) and frankly filthy carpets in each of the rooms I have stayed in over the last 3 years. This time the carpet was so dirty that if I'd had the energy I would have checked out and gone elsewhere. In the meantime they seem to have spent millions on the public spaces : clearly got the wrong priorities.

Overall I was satisfifed with my stay at this hotel. I must state though that the hotel is in process of renovations. The front salons were bare of furnishing. Not what was shown on the internet at all. The bedroom we were given was very small and the decors were tired. The bathroom was adequate and very clean. The room was airconditioned, the window was on a side street, yet the noise was minimum as they were double panes. The internet was easily accessible. The staff was very qualified and most helpful. The meals offered by the hotel though served in a very lovely inner courtyard were extremely expensive. One cafe alone cost 4 Euros or about $5.60. A complete breakfast was about $32.00 Yet, The hotel is next to a cafetaria which served decent "quick" meals at affordable prices, and especially good cups of cafe for about $1.60. At meal time, however, numerous tour bus stopped there, so it tended to be very crowded. It is extremely well situated, close to the metro, and autobus lines. The Louvre is within walking distance and so is the place de la Concorde, and the Champs Elysees, La Madeleine, and so forth. I am glad Hotel.com found this hotel for us as there was a "special" rate when we accepted their offer. Under the same condition, we would return to this hotel.

The St. James & Albany Hotel/Spa turned out to be ideal accomodations for us---but not upon our initial arrival. The hotel has a number of 'quadruple' rooms that sleep 4pp. We had resered one for 4 nights. We arrived early (noon) and asked if our room was ready. It was. The first room (#622?) was towards the back of the building, facing out on a quiet side street, two rooms, 4 twin beds, worn carpet, blah. We requested a move and were immediately sent to room #219. This was a two-story, loft-like room facing an interior garden/courtyard. Quiet as possible at night. Upstairs had a full bath and an extremely comfy king size bed. Downstairs had a fold-out queen and a twin/trundle with a half bath and a decent amount of 'living' space. Closets were adequate. Decor was traditional, nothing fancy, carpets a bit worn, but nothing to get hysterical about. Remember---it isn't the Ritz. Windows were 12 feet high and the light was brilliant. The hotel lounge/restaurant/courtyard menu was delicious and the service was fantastic. Pool was fun for the kids if a bit claustrophobic. We got out early (10ish) and were back for a refreshing dip by 4pm each day. Breakfast in the cellar is superb---but not cheap. The location of the hotel is TOURIST central, but if you are only staying for a few short days it can't be beat.

Bewertet von Todd aus Summit am Aug 10, 2009
We were very disappointed and felt stuck in a wholly unacceptable room for six unpleasant nights. First they put us in a small standard room with street noise, even though our reservation was for a superior room. From the second night and for the rest of our stay they had us in a superior room with no functioning air-conditioning. It was like a sauna in the room. They gave us a small fan and a portable AC device, but it had no coolant, so it never cooled for more than an hour at a time when we put in quantities of ice cubes from the bar downstairs. The hotel management did not really seem to care and were not responsive to our daily requests to move us to an acceptable room so we could enjoy our stay. This was our second stay at the Saint James & Albany Hotel, but it will have to be our last.

The only thing bad about this hotel is the pool. I have small children and it seems that adult hotel guests believe they should not be included. I feel the staff needs to realize that there should not be any discrimination against well behaved children and should take account that their parents paid a lot of money for an executive suite.

This is a very well situated hotel across form Tuileries and Louvre and convenient to just about all of Paris by foot or nearby Metro. Many nearby restaurants, cafes and great shopping just steps away. Interior courtyard rooms overlooking central terrace are amply sized and quiet in an otherwise noisy Paris neighborhood. While we were there, they were undergoing a lobby renovation which was slightly disruptive in terms of circulation and diminshed grandeur. We were told that some rooms had also been renovated althouh our rooms, both a two-level suite on our first 3-night stay and an Executive-level suite of the outbound trip were quite threadbare and certainly hadn't been renovated in quite some time. Bedding was confortable. Hotel has decent but rather expensive bar. Hotel staff was very friendly and moderately knowledgable when booking nearby restaurant resrvations. All in all, a great location and a pretty good value in Paris.

Fantastic location for Louvre, Musee d'Orasay & Place de La Concorde + metro station across the road. Staff are helpful & attentive, which is what you should expect from this sort of establishment. The hotel is being refurbished, so the front entrance is closed & access is on the side street. There is minimal disruption inside, and I'd expect the room we had (7th floor) to be refurbished, which is why the room price (& remember this is central Paris) is a bit cheaper than similar places.

Think twice about this hotel. The location is great and it's nice that there is a pool and steam room but the rooms really do not live up to the number of stars and photos on the site! Sink leaked in our bathroom. Paid equivalent of $66 dollars for two hamburgers and french fries at the restaurant and they had run out of hamburger buns and served us on regular sandwhich bread. Housekeeping super loud in the hallway too early in the morning and you have to ask them to be quiet. All in all, would not go back again. Misrepresented on the hotel's site for sure!!

I know its November and renovation has to be done sometime, but I would like to know when I'm booking. The main entrance off the the Rue du Rivoli is inaccessible and we had to shuffle down a side street with our luggage. In fairness the staff were helpful and the book -in procedure was seamless. The room was comfortable and well heated. We stayed for one night only and went out to eat .Returning at 10.30 pm for a quiet drink we were amazed by the presence of 3 young musicians who amongst other things, sang a 10 minute version of Purple Rain-not conducive to a quiet drink. When we asked if there was anywhere a guest could drink without being 'entertained ' we were greeted with a blank look of incomprehension. The breakfast was listed at Eu24 per person which must be the dearest in Paris. However it forced us to discover one of the great delights of Paris ---Angelinas -Tea rooms built in 1903 one block away. Do not miss.

We couldn't have been happier with the location of the hotel. Walking distance to everything a tourist could want as well as local neighborhoods. We had a junior suite which was comfortable and had the courtyard, which was our view, been something to look at, it would have been almost perfect. As of this review ( September 9, 2008) the hotel lobby and main entrance is still under renovation and entering on the side street a half block around the corner was a little inconvenient as our taxi driver refused to go down that street and dropped us at the constructon zone. The hotel staff was very helpful in seeing to it that there was a taxi waiting for us at the crack of dawn. We would definately stay there again.

You can't find a better location than this hotel. We had a junior suite which had a down stairs living room with toilet, the sofa made into twin beds for our kids. Upstairs we had a room with master bath. The decor is simply but I understand some rooms are being renovated. The room was very clean & quiet. The lobby reception was located in a temporary area due the the main lobby being remodeled. The bar is very nice and the price of the house wines is reasonable. Live music in the evenings is very pleasant. The staff was always professional and helpful. (Fellow Americans, just remember to be patient, polite and classy, the French are used to sophistication, we witnessed several displays of ugly obnoxious & rude Americans while in Paris.)

This hotel is in a fantastic location. Our junior suite comprised of 2 rooms joined by a small hall with a toilet, and a bathroom. There were 2 televisions and a minibar. Although we got a good rate for our room the price of breakfast (24 euro) and drinks were very expensive. We avoided these, and bought food from the nearby shops for picnics. The swimming pool was great, although at first we felt intimidated to be quiet by the gentle music playing on the 1st day. We tried to keep our 3 and 4 yr old quiet. By the next day more children had arrived and the relaxing spa atmosphere had diassapeared along with the music. I felt sorry for those expecting a peaceful haven. While there are many attractions nearby, the hotel is also well situated for restaurants and shops. On a negative note we were dissapointed to have no hot water on more than one occasion in our room.
