The service is one of the best....by the second day i moved to the presidential suite oh my god!is beautiful,,,by the time they finish everything is going to be the best in Santo Domingo-DR They finished the gym,they doing the pool and casino ,I heard that the renovation is going to cost $60 million dollars! LOVE THE JARAGUA!

Stayed 3 days once more this past week and like all my previous stays, nothing really to complain about except for the wireless internet signal in the room is very low. Best value for the money since I got a deal from Hotels.com "stay 3 nights and get the 3rd night free"

The hotel is one of the best in the area. the location is very good. Close to all the local spots. Cab service is good. Very safe but security would not allow vistors, which was the only bad downfall if your there alone. Casino was also a good spot. Overall I'll do it again

Hotel described the room as garden view. A better name would be parking lot view. Further, the Hotel eliminated the option of self parking. Thus, charging for valet service for each day. This was the last time I will use Renaissance Jaragua. Eventhough I travel to Santo Domingo five times a year.

We stayed at this hotel before and after our cruise. Just to clarify, the hotel is not on the beach and there is no beach nearby. The hotel is across a busy road from a rocky shoreline. The hotel has a decent pool and you can see the sea from the pool deck, but the traffic on the busy road is a little annoying. The hotel is in the city and relatively close to the cruise ship terminal, but we didn't feel safe leaving the hotel on foot. The Dominican Republic is definitely a third world country. There are two restaurants at the hotel. We ate at the main restaurant several times and the food was pretty good. The fitness center was above average.

The tower area was very nice we were in the garden area. It was an older part of the hotel. We felt safe on the grounds but would advise not going off the grounds. The pool area was great but closes at dark.

I didn't know what exactly to expect. But was pleasantly surprised. Helpful staff and a well kept property. The Casino was the exception....weird crowd and expensive drinks ($8 or $9 for a Presidente beer) in the bar next to it.

We found all employees spoke English and we found a great tour guide from the concierge. The hotel desk gave great exchange rates too!

I had decided to stay in Santo Domingo after finishing my cruise. When I arrived at the hotel I had to stand in a line for over an hour to check in. Once I'd done that and taken my things to my room I went to the "dining room" for something to eat. Again I had to stand in a line for nearly an hour to wait for a table. There were tables free but the staff hadn't cleared them and the kitchen couldn't cope with so much work. I finally managed to place my order for lunch. When the food came it was not what I had ordered. When I re-ordered and finally received my meal which was cold and not edible ! I was very disappointed with the service and for a Renaissance Hotel I found the standard very poor.

Our room was completely freezing. We changed rooms and still had the same problem. There was no option for a heater and the AC was off. The windows were locked shut. We slept in sweats while it was 80 degrees outside. The location is quite a ways from the colonial zone. You'd definitely need a taxi. The service was not that great. I expected more from a hotel associated with Marriott. Toiletries were the only plus. All in all, keep looking if you want to enjoy your stay in the beautiful city of Santo Domingo.

The Jaragua is a casino property with very active evenings. The guestroom experience is good as far as comfort offering a bed with pillowtop mattress Egyptian cotton linens and very fluffy pillows. The bathroom was not impeccable but it was clean. The food at the little cafe was very high quality with amazing service and delicious pastries.

I am very dissapointed the hotel on three of the four days i did not have hot water for a while and was not able to shower.I was on a very strict schedule due to the fact that i was in the city for business and i seems that everytime i was going to shower there was no hot water. I would like to be refunded or some type of credit for this inconvience. For it to be such a highly rated hotel i was very dissapointed at the continual no hot water issue.

I had a wonderful experience while staying in the Jaragua hotel. I heard from some friends that it was a really nice hotel and I wanted to test it out myself.The location is fantastic!I really enjoyed looking at the ocean, especially night. The casino is so good, the food,the employees and the cleanliness is just excellent.Actually I am planning on going back soon.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Great bed. There is very nice night life in the hotel with live show and dancing. Breakfast was very nice. The staff is very pleasant and accomodating.

I stayed in the Jaragua for 4 nights.... 2 nights tower, 2 nights garden The pluses: Breakfast is great, casino is decent and open 24 hrs, tower rooms are nice and garden rooms are more "liberal" to guests but not all the time. Bellboys and Casino security staff nice and useful for the in's and out's of santo domingo Pool is very nice and bar is conveniently priced for a pool side drink or three The minuses: NOT 5 Stars.... at all.... Front desk is incompetent and extremely lazy. If you book the most expensive rooms on HOTELS.COM and it says it comes with a balcony and salon area IT DOES NOT. You get a deluxe room. When we mentioned this to the supposed head manager, he offered to move us from tower to garden after he showed us the room, it was larger and same price, though beds were less comfortable. They told us they would move the bags and put us in our 2 rooms in garden area and would be done by 3 pm. My group and I went out all day to the colonial area of SD. When we came back at 5:30 pm another"shift" of desk people were there and had no Idea what was going on or who we were. After 20 mins of them looking lost on the computer and our group yelling at them in spanish, they figured it out and said our bags would be moved. We went back to our old rooms to move our bags ourselves, they were sitting unattended in the hall way. We grabbed them and a passing maid said nothing. Not even buenas dias. Anyone could have taken our bags. This was aggravating and they did not seem to care. The hotel was decent... NOT 5 STARS... Service was sub par... have seen it once would not go back. Saw many other hotels at the same level. And much like the rest of the hotels in DR, the casino and lobby gets PACKED with "street workers" at around 10-11 pm... and it stays that way til the early morning. And you cant bring any of them back to your tower room. Have fun! Thanks for reading.

The rooms are spacious and I had a very nice view, the bathroom needed some updating and if you lay down by the pool don't expect quite and tranquility. The music from the children's area can get a little loud.

I found the hotel outstanding, lots of space, very clean & comfortable. I only recommend to show a picture of the bathroom. It was roomy and well design with tile floor & a wall mirror. Should be in the pics.

If you are staying with your family or you are visiting for business, this hotel is great. However, if you are single and happen to meet someone that you would like to back to your room for a drink, Forget it! The hotel staff will bother you about your guest not being registered. It is really ridiculous because if you paid for a room for two guests and you happen to be by yourself, why can you not invite someone to your room if you'd like to?

The only thing they have to improve is the concierge service. I've atayed at this hotel many times and the service is excellent. Recently though, some of the concierges are not dominican, and they don't have a clue about the city of santo domingo. I think a concierge has to be familiar with his/her local city.

The hotel is literally falling apart. Exterior doors that dont close or lock, or unlock for that matter. Dirt all over the floors and counters. Pool area not attended to, food all over the place, children urinating in the pool.The most terrible place I have ever stayed and will never return. The list is endless.......
