"Needs Room Upgrades"
Bewertet von Gordon aus Idaho Falls am Aug 26, 2009
The only thing I would say about the rooms at the Sahara is the beds are as hard as a rock and the pillows are either too hard or too soft. I only need the bed and it should be soft with support and decent pillows.

The Room lay out was nice. Though, it wasn't in a clean state. The curtains were litterally almost black like they have never been wash since the building was built. The carpets could use a shampoo job. The bathroom shower was not very clean and the mat to through in the bottom had build up on it and was sticky. The shower had no pressure and if fact the party I was with in another room there know you pull to get the shower to turn on actually fell right apart when they tried to turn it on. They had to stick there toe up in the bottom of the spout to get to take a shower. I had a room with a patio. The patio had cigarette butts all over it from the previous guest prior to my stay. The table and chairs on the patio were torn, weather worn (rotted), and just plain filthy. The casino part of the Sahara was ok. I think next time I go to Vegas though I will definately spend the extra 10 to 20 dollars to stay at a much nicer up kept Hotel.

I wanted to stay at a hotel on the strip and the Sahara was a good choice for me. It was not as close to the other hotels, but one can take the monorail from there. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to check in before the scheduled time. I would definitely stay there again.

Expect to wait in line for at least an hour to check-in and pay $6.00 per night additional fees at the desk when you do. I booked a room with a king sized bed and while the room I got was very big the A/C didn't work and 2 of the lamps did not work either. I changed rooms after standing in line again for more than an hour but had to accept 2 queen beds. The new room had stains on the floor, the bathroom had a door that didn't close, tiles separating from the wall and rust in the drains and around the fixtures. I would have change rooms again but didn't want to have to stand in line for yet another hour or more. The casino seems to be under staffed and we were served no drinks while playing video poker at the bar for almost an hour. All in all this is likely the worst hotel I have staid at. If it were not for the easy access to the monorail to get me to another casino I would say it is completely worthless.

I have gone to Vegas for years. I just happened to pick this because friends were staying. My room look liked an episode of CSI was shot there. Stained Red Carpets-dirty bathroom. The line to check in was 45 minutes long and the hotel had just three people at front desk. I guess if this is best you can do then have at it. Very disappointed!

I would have expected a far better experience from such a casino/hotel. We purchased their "Premium Upgrade" special which we received for joining their players club prior to checking in. Upon arrival they had 3 people on a Friday afternoon/evening setting up these accounts for a line that stretched half way through the casino. When we did finally get to our "Premium Upgrade" accommodations, our 4th floor room overlooking the back street of the hotel had furniture that looked like it purchased from a yard sale. Old, beat up, dirty, missing handles..etc. The bathroom had hair on the floor, sink and even in the bath tub. (yech) The whole property just looks old and run down. The staff seemed listless and not at all happy to be there no matter where you went throughout the hotel or casino. The food at the buffet was terrible and way over priced. The coffee shop food was edible, but again overpriced for what you received and again, don't expect customer service with a smile. It seems that concept died with the last of the rat pack. I am not an overly picky person and have spent time working in the resort industry so I understand some things, but with all of the competition on the Las Vegas strip for the tourist dollar, this was just unacceptable. Your hard-earned dollars can be better spent elsewhere.

Walked into the room with already a stain in the carpet. Walked two feet to the bathroom and turned on the light to see the ceiling spackle chipped and browning. Countertops were spotless with the soaps and shampoos, however the floor was littered with long dark hair. The rubber non-slip cover was brown and felt sticky to the touch. Back out into the bedroom and noticed the vibrant colors of the Sahara, then realized our view was perfect. The bed is semi-soft and the pillows are firm. You definitely get what you pay for, we'd rather pay a bit more for the quality of a good night's rest.

WE arrived late, but check-in was pretty easy. When the first person in out party used the restroom, the paper holder fell off the wall. I used a wash cloth and it had so many holes in it that you could lay it on a newspaper and read the daily happenings. Overall the room was pretty clean, and there were plastic cups wrapped in plastic. This casino was not as well ventilated as I would expect and the room smelled a bit like old smoke. I do think hotels.com did the best they could on short notice, (we arrived a day earlier than planned originally)and they did great on our reservation for the hotel we stayed in the rest of our trip. kudos to them ! I would only stay at this particular hotel if there was nothing else available anywhere else on the strip. This hotel is the last stop for the monorail north on the strip($13 per 24 hrs pass) which closes down at 2am. It is a long walk if you stay out very late !

This hotel seemed scary. I stayed there as a child 20 years ago on trips as a child with my dad and I remember it being a nice hotel. The Sahara has really gone downhill since. As an adult going on trips for 10 years to Vegas this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When we checked in it was an hour wait in line just to check into our room. I could understand if this were a busy holiday weekend but not for a Sunday night stay. I have never had this experience at any hotel ever. The room we got looked like it was run down, stains on the carpet and the rom was not clean. I had to request another room to stay in. It took 3 hours before they put us in a cleaner room. My girlfriend was put in a bad mood after all of this and it put a damper on us the rest of the night. Overall the hotel and casino staff were rude. Even other quests shared the same opinions with us and how they would never come back to stay. It was a lot different compared to how nice it used to be staying there as a child. It is sad to see how much they have let the place go downhill so much.

The location is on the northern end of the Strip. Great location to stay on a budget. The room in the Tunis tower looked good although there were some stains on the carpet and no main switch at the entrance; I had to walk in the dark to find one of the lamps and turn it on. The A/C can be controlled but I heard a fan noise all night long even when it was off. There is no breakfast included but a coffee shop is available at the check-in area. A breakfast buffet is served at one of the casino's cafés, still expensive ($15). Outside the venue, it takes some time to walk to the nearby casinos. The opposite side of the Strip is a construction area. There is a direct, covered pathway to the monorail station.

The Sahara was a wonderful hotel for the limited budget we were working on . The pool was very large -and Clean. We got free tickets to the Dinner Buffet-which was terrific. We also went to the Magic show with Rick Thomas- AWESOME!!Then we went on the Nascar Cafe's rollercoaster ride called Speed- AWESOME!! Casino floor was adequate with plenty of gaming tables/slots etc. I took a little beating but the wife won 300.00 on slots. The Sahara is next to the monorail and you can ride that up and down the strip to other Casinos/hotels/shopping outlets for about 10.00 round trip or you can purchase a unlimited ride pass for a little more. All in all we had a good time here, and we would stay here again and also recommend it to others. Only negative was the a/c in the room was controlled by hotel- Not us. It was a little warmer than we're used to- so we stayed out of the room as much as possible- and stayed naked most of the time in the room !! Have Fun !!

This hotel is old and shows it. Cracked tile, wallpaper pealing, etc. But everything worked and the room was clean. It's the last stop on the monorail so it's easy access to the rest of the strip. The buffet is not fancy, but fine. It's a great deal for the cheaper then motel price the Sahara is charging right now. If you only need a hotel to crash for the night, then this is it. The only downside is the extra fees this hotel charges. In addition to the fees charged here at Hotels.com, they Sahara will charge another fee per night when you check in. It's still cheap, but not as cheap as the listing leads you to believe.

We upgraded to a premium room and compared the the standard that some of our friends had I am totally glad I did - I recommend that for sure. Dollar Black Jack tables are only at this casino and they have five cent slots so that is a good deal. The hotel is not at all close to the major attractions and the best way to get around is the monterail. USE IT! I would probably pay more for a better hotel room next time. I booked the hotel because a special package that was offered. The room rates for the strip was the lowest for a 3 day weekend. The casino is in need of upgrade and a good cleaning. When I was checking in I was informed that the room I had reserved was in the old tower and had not been upgraded. For an additional fee I could upgrade to the new tower which has been upgraded with new carpet and a coffee pot. I ask how old the new tower was they said it was build in 1984. This tower had forced a/c with my own control of temp. We did do the upgrade and was very thankful we did. Watch out for the add on's to the hotel bill. No one said anything for a daily fee. The main reason for the stay was it was my wifes birthday and we came for a concert and to spend time at the pool during the day, I give the pool an excellent rating, the cabanas were very reasonable and they came with lunch, fruit basket and plenty of water with ice box. Unfortunately the customer satisfaction is not a priority to management at this hotel. For example I forgot to give my discount coupon for breakfast until I had paid and when I handed the coupon to the cashier I was refused my discount. They said that management had told them no one gets the discount after they pay. they tried to call management and never got through. I realize it was just a few dollars, but isn't it to there best interest to satisfy the customer? After this I decided that my business for food, ect would be appreciated elsewhere. So for a few dollars savings they lost alot more than that. Overall I rate this hotel very below average and at this time my wife and I would not stay there again.

It's a typical Las Vegas strip hotel. It's one of the last of the original hotel/casinos on the strip and as such has much history. The pool is very nice although it has a max depth of 4 feet so no real swimming or diving can be done. The only annoyances I had was checking in. There was a line 15 to 20 people long with only one person doing check in. The other was no carts to assist in hauling luggage from the car to the room. There is bell service but I prefer to haul my own. It took me 2 trips and it was hot.

The hotel staff assigned us a room that they knew the air conditioner did not work. Upon spending 3 hours talking to them the finally assigned us another room which had water following from the ceiling. The food buffet was closed exceptfor dinner and was very limited as for food selection.

It did not have a safe, that would have been nice. Also no refrigerator, but we managed. Over all very nice, I would stay everytime I am in Vegas.

It's sad to see how the Sahara has not been maintained. It was once the place to stay in Vegas but need a complete makeover to compete with other hotels on the strip. However, for the price and the fact that most people don't spend a lot of time in their rooms while in Las Vegas, it was a good deal.

Hotel rooms need improvement. But very good for the price i got it for. Did not expect much but they should at least have better TV systems and mattresses.

The hotel is "old" and needs to be restored. We paid for an upgraded room and it was large but very "dated".

I was less than impressed. While the bed was comfortable, the box springs was disgusting. Was a non smoking room that smelled like smoke. Kept running out of hot water (how does that happen in a hotel????). Air conditioning only worked intermittently. NASCAR grill is overprices for so-so food. 2nd Worst buffet in Vegas. On the positive side, we had multiple rooms in our party, and they did their best to accomodate us being as close as possible. Check in was slow, but there was a lot of people for a Wed night. Staff was very pleasant. Beer was cheap, and bartenders, dealers, everyone who worked there was very nice.

The room was an excellent value for the money. The one negative I noticed was that the carpet in the common areas of the hotel lobby had many stains.

The hotel overall is great. If you are just going use it to sleep and get ready to go out. This is the hotel for you. The service was great. Did not have any problems. If you stay there, you have to at least get a premium room for it to be decent experience. I would stay again for the price that I paid for. Didn't spend much on this hotel.

Everyone I personally dealt with were really nice and overall I had a great experience. The only thing that can be changed is there isn't any Air conditioning on the elevators, or the room floors. Other than that it was a great experience. Cheapest hotel on the strip. :)

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay on the strip then this is the place. If you want to have a LV experience not so much. One advantage is that they do have $3 dollar tables and penny slots. The staff was great but the room needs to be remodeled. Carpet was torn, bath tub had chips and need repairs

The Sahara charged an additional $6 fee upon check-in for the use of the exercise room and shuttle, even if you aren't going to use it. Also, our room was in poor condition (bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, toilet leaked, AC was pre-set and the room was somewhat warm)

When I booked this hotel, I knew the rooms would not be on the level of a Renaissance property, but there are basic things that regardless of the price, one should expect. The carpet should be clean and not torn. The plumbing should work. You should not have to pay $6 to be a member of a club that you don't want to be a member. Tables and cabinets should not have paint chipped off and discoloration. Yes, you get what you pay for. Needs improvement.

Room is very hot and there is some kind of smell in the room.Rooms seem like very old. And there is no fridge or microwave. And also the service is very bad. Be prepared to stand in long queue to check in to the hotel. Their staff works very slowly. It is a pain in the neck.
