Barkston Gardens Hotel - London

Hotel liegt nur 200 m von der U-Bahn-Station entfernt. Wer eine preiswerte und verkehrsgünstige Übernachtung in London sucht, ist mit diesem Hotel gut beraten. Zu viel Luxus darf man bei diesem Preis natürlich nicht erwarten. Für einen Kurztrip empfehlenswert.

Für diesen Preis würden wir das Hotel wieder nehmen. Hotel liegt sehr günstig in unmittelbarer Nähe zur UBahn und zu verschiedenen Buslinien. Zentrum, Chelsea oder HydePark erreicht man in fünf Minuten. Viele Restaurants, Frühstücksmöglichkeiten sind in direkter Nachbarschaft. Auch den Abend kann man gut in EarlsCourt verbringen. Hotel liegt in ruhiger Nebenstrasse. Größe und Ausstattung der Zimmer sind für den Preis i.O., Luxus darf man natürlich nicht erwarten. Keine Klimaanlage.Safe war umsonst und die Hilfsbereitsschaft des Personals war auffällig gut. Das Bad war sauber, wenn auch nicht mehr in neuestem Zustand.

Meine Tochter und ich verbrachten 3 Übernachtungen im Barkston Gardens Hotel, haben uns gut aufgehoben und sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir wählten das Hotel aufgrund seiner Lage (wir lieben Earl's Court), der Internetbeschreibung und des für uns angmessenen Preises. Das Zimmer war immer sauber und gut hergerichtet, einzig die Dusche könnte etwas weniger spärlich mit Wasser versorgen. Wir werden dieses Hotel auf jeden Fall wieder buchen!

Das Hotel ist hundert Meter von der U-Bahnstation Earls Court in einer ziemlich feinen sicheren Gegend gelegen. Der Staff war freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war für London sehr gross aber etwas abgewohnt. Leider weder Kühlschrank noch Sat TV. Mehrere günstige Restaurants und Bakeries fürs Frühstück in unmittelbarer Nähe, ebenso Supermärkte und Weinläden, sowie Pubs.

Sehr nah an U-Bahn Earl's Court, günstige Frühstücksmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Wasserkocher und Tee/Instant Kaffe, Kekse auf Zimmer. Freundliches Personal.

Die Lage ist optimal und sehr zentral. Gleich um die Ecke ist "Earl´s Court" Haltestelle, sowie Pubs, Restaurants, Marks&Spencer Simply Food etc. Ideal für die Selbstversorgung. Die Zimmer waren sauber und es war ruhig. Die Leute am Empfang waren freundlich. Das Frühstück und der Service waren auch gut.Im zweiten Teil meiner Reise hatte ich ein Einzelzimmer für eine Nacht. Das war allerdings sehr winzig. Länger als eine Nacht hätte ich dort nicht bleiben wollen. Fazit: Für meine nächste London Reise werde ich dieses Hote wieder buchen, da das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

Gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Das Hotel liegt zentral und doch ruhig, das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und zweckmäßig ausgestattet. Der Teppich könnte mal erneuert werden. Würde das Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen.

Einfache, aber saubere Zimmer in guter Lage nahe einer Vielzahl von Ausgeh- und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und nur wenige Schritte von der U-Bahn, gleichwohl ruhig. Personal wirkt etwas brummig.

Prinzipiell gutes Hotel, leider wurde unsere Reklamation (Wasserkocher) auch nach 4 Tagen nicht bearbeitet. Ansonsten gabs nichts zu bemängeln.

Alte stinkende verdreckte Teppichböden, Dusche funktioniert teils garnicht oder spärlich, mitunter nur kaltes Wasser, bestätigte Buchungswünsche werden nicht eingehalten, Rezeption sehr freundlich.

Das Hotel ist einfach, aber sauber und für nicht all zu anspruchsvolle Gäste durchaus empfehlenswert. Obwohl das Hotel zentral, gleich um die Ecke der Tube station Earl´s Court liegt, ist es vergleichsweise recht ruhig. Rundherum findet man allerlei Geschäfte, Cafes und Restaurants. Es gibt im Hotel einen Internetraum, wo man einen kostenlosen WIFI-Zugang bekommen kann.

Liegt in der Nähe der Messehallen. Super U-Bahn Verbindung zum Heathrow Airport mit der Picadilly Line (Underground). Ruhige Lage in einer Seitenstraße, Zimmer war ok und ganz wichtig, sauber! Bett war ok, habe gut geschlafen. Im Sommer keine Klimaanlage, dafür gibts einen Ventilator auf dem Zimmer. Super geeigent für Messebesucher.

Mine was a single room, and very very small, so hot and at times oppressive. The personnel though was extremely helpful and kind. The breakfast good. I would strongly recommend it for a short stay. Its extreme closeness to Earl's Court underground station makes the difference.

we went for 2 nights. first room damp, sheets damp, furniture old and beds lumpy with springs. no hot water. second room no better. kept awake all night with water flooding down sides of hotel.no hot water. room 3 - for second night - better but still very tired. this hotel makes econolodge in america feel like the waldorf. don't risk it. it was a miserable experience.

the room was noisy. At the beginning we got a room right next to the power room, the machines were so noisy throughout the night. the next day, we changed a room but it was really even NOISER! BOOM! Boom!! it was extremely noisy upstairs! midnight and early morning were so noisy!!!

I had selected this hotel as my base for the London Marathon weekend for the following reasons: value for money; proximity to a variety of good quality restaurants/pubs; and proximity to Earls Court Tube station (very important for getting to the start of the London Marathon in Blackheath). I had a single room,which I found very clean and comfortable, but like many previous reviewers I did find the floorboards to be creaky, and the hot water could have been a bit warmer. I cannot comment about the quality of the bar and restaurant, as I preferred to buy food and drink in the local pubs and restaurants. Would I stay at the Barkston Gardens again? Yes, hopefully next year if I get through the Marathon ballot.

I must admit I wasn't expecting too much considering the price I paid. I fully expected teh bed to be vertical in a space saving, credit crunch style! However the double room was fine, spacious in fact. Woodwork was a little tired, but clean nonetheless. Very convenient for Earls court and only 2 minutes walk from the tube station. Wireless in teh room was weak and I couldn't have worked from there, signal was better in the bar...Fancy that! Would recommend the hotel overall though

We stayed for a few days and were given a room on the first floor. The room was large and out of date- the couch in the room was falling in and difficult to sit on, the carpet was pulling up from the floor at the seams around the walls and in the door frames. We couldn't control the temperature in the room so it was sweltering at night and we didn't want to open the window because being below street level- the people walking on the street and talking were easily heard with the windows closed. The bathroom window was drafty- leading to an unpleasant shower experience and the window was only covered by a sheer- nice when the street can look directly in to you sitting on the toilet or stripping to get into the shower. The elevator took forever so we took the side stairs except when we had luggage. Overall- the service was okay, I would suggest requesting a floor above the second floor if possible and maybe your room will be in better shape than ours but for the price and the short stay we were having- it wasn't worth the trouble of switching.

Well located in central London - steps to the tube stop. Great front desk service, large en suite rooms. Clean facilities and tastefully decorated.

A fantastic location with a lot of nice restaurants, and the tube station literally two minutes away Our room was a reasonable size and seemed clean. However on our second night we found a cockroach scurrying across the floor, and when we complained about it, the manager acted like it was a regular occurance and blamed it on the weather. if you ask me, cockroaches in a room arent acceptable under any circumstances

The staff is not exactly helpful; moreover there is one of the clerks positively aggressive towards the guests. I tried to talk with the manager during our 5 days there and was no where to be found her (I know the manager is a lady because her name was in a board in the entrance). When we booked, breakfast was supposed to be included, but we were rudely and forcefully told by the clerk when we arrived that it was not. The best feature is the Earls’ Court tube station around the corner. Probably the second best is the restaurant Benito Bistro, an Italian cuisine place with great food. Pity the best features do not correspond to the hotel amenities! The room was on the 4th floor but once there, we came to find that we had to carry our own bags up a steep flight of stairs (no one would help up) up to the “middle fourth floor”. The room: floorboards were creaky and all the lights took a few moments to flicker on, a junky old TV that can get five of the BBC channels and nothing else, the mattresses definitely needed improvement.... the room cleaning was amazingly good and a tea/coffee service was always ready on the bureau. The bathroom was ok except for a weird shower system which only works if you turn the faucet’s handles several times in both directions!!! Computer and internet wireless provided at the lobby level but there is no printer and the desk won’t print anything for you. Not even receive a fax without a charge. The hotel/service/features are enough for a very very tight budget traveler but; (even when the fare wasn't real cheap) .... for the same money and in the same area, there are a lot of real 3 star hotels.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms. Very convenient to the Underground. Looking forward to booking with Barkston /gardens again.

Room was basic but clean and good value. The bed was comfortable and location was good the only down side was the room was very stuffy even with window open

I stayed at this hotel for one night, on my way through london, and it was a pretty nice place. Its about a minute's walk from earl's court tube station, and theres a boots, sainsburys, tesco (I think), and a number of other smaller market-type places, as well as a bunch of restaurants and fast food locations. The hotel was very clearly a bit old...the floorboards were creaky and all the lights took a few moments to flicker on, but other than that it was a nice place. The room was extremely clean, theres a nice assortment of tea and coffee available, as well as a junky old tv that can get a few of the BBC channels but nothing else. It was smallish, of course, but larger than I thought given all of the reviews, and the bathroom was huge. Overall, its a tiny little hotel thats been kept in fairly good shape.

Fairly spacious and very clean rooms, at a fairly low price as far as hotels in London go. Only negative would be the insanely creaky floorboards in the rooms! But will be using this hotel again later in the year when I'm back in London. Very convenient for the Earl's Court tube station too.

Terrific location right next to Earls Court tube station. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was quiet and spacious. Decor dated and tired but bed comfortable, bath large and staff friendly. Overall, I thought this hotel was good value for money, especially in the west end of the city, and I would definitely stay there again.

I recommend this place. It is easy to get to from Heathrow, and the desk staff were friendly and responsive. The rooms are tiny but clean. A decent deal for a quick trip to London!

My room was big, and the bed was comfortable. Everything was very clean, and the bathroom even smelled like eucalyptus! It was a great experiance, and I'll definitly stay there again if I go back to London. The continental breakfast though was very dissapointing, expensive, and not very good. Eat out.

After spending a few nights in a mediocre hotel which definitely was less than its indicated three stars, Barkston Gardens came as a very nice difference. It had the chair, desk and a spacious bathroom that I needed for my preparations for a conference talk.

They just started providing internet access right after I left. Location is VERY close to the underground. Floors were quite squeaky. Room was expectedly small.

Great hotel for the price and location. Very close to the tube, dining, shopping, and bars. Very nice staff. Would come back and recommend to others.

The location of this hotel is perfect- Barkston Gardens is a 5 minute walk to the London Underground, at the intersection of the green and yellow line, so it has easy access to all main sites in London. However, the service and ambience of the hotel left something to be desired. After we checked in, we were pointed in the direction of our room, with our bags. After going through a series of doors, we came to find that we had to carry our own bags down a steep flight of stairs (no one would help up) into the basement. While most rooms had elevator access, apparently the basement rooms did not. We settled in to our scantily clad room with no clocks and dim lighting. Each night of our stay there was something happening. Night 1- Our neighbor was pounding on our door, telling us to turn off the shower because she couldn't sleep. Apparently whenever our water was running, the noise was unbearable through the paper thin walls. Night 2- a child had gotten lost in the hotel's many hallways and was screaming in the basement for a near half hour before the receptionist came town to lead him away. The fact that no one heard him did not give us much courage if we were ever in trouble. Both days we tried to switch rooms and were told there was nothing else available. Needless to say, we were relieved to leave as we hoisted our bags back up the stairs and through the many doors, happy to see sunlight.

The best thing I liked about Barkston Garden hotel is its great location - just about at the entrance of Earl's Court Underground station. Other points to note are the cleanliness of the hotel is clean, and friendliness of the staff. On the other hand, the room that I got wasn't quite of the size I had expected. There were constantly creeking noises coming from floors and roofs. The room was pretty oddly located - in the middle of the flight of stairs. I was not sure whether I was staying on the first floor or the second floor! For this cost, the room TV was too small in size. Moreover, I was surprised that in spite of the cost, breakfast was not included. On the whole, I would probably stay in this hotel once more - not for the experience but for its accessibility.

For the cost of this hotel, it was very good. The rooms were not as small as stated by previous reviewers. Location was great. Two minute walk from Earl's Court Tube station.

Room very "shabby" for a three star hotel and for the price, but the location not far from the underground was good. We had read all the other guests' comments and thought that maybe they were just being "picky". Not so, many described what we experienced. Perhaps the hotel gives out the low-quality rooms to hotel.com guests because the hotel has already received payment. (We even checked in right on time just in case the hotel saved the "shabby" rooms for late check-in guests.)

Comfortable, clean excellent service.

For the price I paid, this was a fantastic hotel, just across the street from a tube station and tons of restaurants. We had a great time and the room was clean and very cute.

I like this hotel, because it offers great value for money. Always booking single rooms, the size of my rooms varies from very small to really huge. I chose the hotel as an alternative to an appartment in London and it works quite well. With more than 50 nights per year I definetley recommend this place.

Does what it says on the tin - very inexpensive but comfortable for its class.
