The Marcel at Gramercy - New York

Das Hotel hat eine super Lage für eine Sightseeing-Tour durch Manhattan. U-Bahn in 3min fussläufig erreichbar. Liegt zentral, so dass Lower und Upper Manhattan bestens zu erreichen sind. Vom Hotelzimmer waren wir sehr positiv überrascht. Stilvolles, sauberes Zimmer mit ausreichend Platz. Wir hatten sogar Blick auf das Empire State Building. Insgesamt ist das Hotel einfach nur zu empfehlen.

Hotel ist unter Preis-Leistungsaspekten OK. Plus: recht gute Lage, relativ ruhig, Gäste-Lounge mit kostenlosem Internetzugang und akzeptablem Frühstück. Minus: Zimmer sehr klein, sehr wenig Tageslicht durch Fenster zu dunklem Innenhof, Klimaanlage extrem laut.

Wir wuerden wieder ins Hotel Marcel gehen Sehr moderne und saubere Zimmer

Es gab keine Probleme beim Einchecken in das Hotel. Jedoch bekamen wir zunächst ein Zimmer für 2 Personen mit einem ca. 1,40 x 2m Bett. Wir sind kein Paar, sondern Vater & erw. Sohn. Das Zimmer war mit einem kleinen Schrank, dem Bett und einem kleinen Tisch praktisch voll. Das Fenster OHNE Tageslicht!!! ging in einen Schacht, da liefen permanent die Kühlagregate des ganzen Hauses. Es war unerträglich laut! Das Zimmer war für den Preis unzumutbar. Nach Beschwerde an der Rezeption erhielten wir ein angemessenes schönes Zimmer. Ruhig, Tageslicht ordentliches breites Bett. Alles ohne mehr Geld zu verlangen. Die Lage des Hotels ist zur grünen Subway gut gelegen und von dort aus ist man überall in Manhattan schnell... Alles im allen haben wir uns nachdem überstanden Schock mit dem Zimmer und dem Tausch wohl gefühlt.

Das Marcel-Hotel hat zwar kleine "Standard-Zimmer", punktet jedoch mit Sauberkeit, Freundlichkeit des Personals und moderner, designorientierter Einrichtung. Die Lage in der 23. Straße ist perfekt für den Urlauber, der nicht mitten im Theater-District wohnen möchte und eine etwas gemütlichere Gegend sucht. Es gibt viele bezahlbare Lokale in der näheren Umgebung. Allein die Aussicht von der Dachterrasse im 10. Stock ist einmalig. Wir kommen gerne wieder in dieses Hotel und in diese wunderbare Gegend - Greenwich Village und Gramercy-Park - alles wunderbar zu Fuß zu erreichen.

Sehr klein, aber ok

war schon zum 3. oder 4. Mal dort. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis besonders diesmal für ein Hotel in dieser SuperLocation unschlagbar. Unbedingt Zimmer in höheren Etagen verlangen, weil seit kurzem gutgehende Vinothek im EG. Hatte Blick auf Empire SB. Rezeptionsdame und -Herr sehr aufmerksam. Hübsche Lounge mit free Internet und Coffee im 10.Stock + Dachgarten. Continental Frühstücksbuffet für knappe 13$ plus tax ist nicht teuer.

War ein angenehmer Aufenthalt im The Marcel at Gramercy. Zentral gelegen, hilfsbereites Personal, stilvolle Zimmer. Die Terasse gibt einen Extrapunkt.

Ein schönes Hotel in guter Lage mit attraktivem Preis. Zimmer gut ausgestattet, wenn auch klein. Service und Frühstück OK.

tritt durch gute Lage,freundliche Bedienung,sowie angenehme Extras hervor,ein weitere PC im Frühstücksraum- wäre wünschenswert,da es immer wieder zu Wartezeiten kommt.

Neu und sauber! Nettes Personal!

Wir haben uns vom ersten Moment an sehr wohlgefühlt im Marcel. Das Hotel ist gut eingerichtet und das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut. Super Lage. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer im 7. Stock zur Hinterseite. das Zimmer war sehr ruhig und sauber. Die Einrichtung war sehr geschmackvoll und das Zimmer sehr schön, wernn auch etwas klein (hat uns nicht gestört). Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Personal war ausgesprochen nett und zuvorkommend.

Das Hotel ist sehr chic renoviert und das Zimmer war in einem hervorragenden Pflegezustand Die Zimmergröße war gewöhnungsbedürftig da rund um das eher sogar kleine zweier Bett nur jeweils ein guter halber Meter Platz war Aber man ist in NYC ja nicht um sich auf dem Hotelzimmer aufzuhalten Wir waren in einem der unteren Stockwerke und hier ist die Straße extrem laut Schlafen war selbst bei geschlossenem Fenster nur mit Ohrstoepseln möglich Da das ganze Haus ab einer bestimmten Außentemperatur zentral geheizt wird hatten wir zudem Sahara ähnliches Klima im Zimmer Das Zimmerpersonal und die Techniker sind sehr freundlich und machen einen guten Job An der Rezeption ist der Service stark personenabhängig Die Nachtbesetzung sollte man besser nicht um Hilfe fragen man bekommt ohnehin nur dumme Antworten Die Tagbesetzung hingegen war professionell und bemueht

Im Marcel fühlt man sich wohl Schöne schlichte Zimmer

Eine gute Adresse für alle, die einfach etwas zum Übernachten suchen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, das Zimmer (Einzelzimmer mit Queensize-Bed) stets sauber und ordentlich, ebenso das Bad. Es gibt wohl auch ein Cafe oder eine Lounge im Hotel, die habe ich aber nicht besucht. Einziges nerviges Detail: Vorsicht bei der Minibar! Laut beigefügter Karte hat man alles automatisch gekauft, was man länger als 20 Sekunden aus der Minibar entfernt. Ansonsten alles Klasse, jederzeit wieder!

The hotel is fine overall. The beds are too short, I'm 5'8". the main problem for me is that while everyone is making efforts to be more ecologically sensitive, the hotel is not. Towels, even though I hung them up were washed, and I believe the sheets were too! The worst thing is that styrofoam dishes are used for breakfast as well as plastic plates and spoons. Not only is it very unecological, it also diminishes the class.

We had the standard room that was no larger than a cattle crate. There was not sufficient room to open our cases on the floor even. However, the place was spotless and the decor was very trendy. We loved the location, plenty of bars and restaurants around without being in the middle of the tourist areas. Great spot for doing uppertown and downtown from.

The Marcel was a pleasant experience while taking a long weekend vacation with my wife. The hotel staff was very attentive and ready to help even though our rooms weren't ready at the time of check-in. Rooms can feel small and there's some maintenance that needed to be done to our room's bathroom. The location was very accesible to any kind of activity and within walking distance of any subway stations. Overall, the Marcel in my scale from 1 to 10 deserves a very strong 8.

The first room we were given was so small. The window looked out onto an airshaft. We asked to change rooms and the second was a bit better but not much. I have never stayed in rooms so small. The rooms were positively claustrophobic.

I thought the room was very cute. I enjoyed my stay. I didn't stay for an extended period of time but it was a relaxing environment and I honestly didnt need the assistance of the staff but when I did encouter the staff they were friendly. I would come back here again.

The room provided (booked for two adults) was too small and the bed was a full and not queen size. The room was next to exterior HVAC equipment (no view) and noise was too loud to sleep

-room was completely slanted--leaned to the left--we were quite dizzy -air conditioner didn't work for two days (couldn't open the window, they didn't have any fans, all the rooms were booked those two nights so they couldn't change our room) -the hotel finally redeemed themselves by putting us in a nicer room for the remaining nights (with AC thank goodness)

many thing were wrong with this hotel. the first room we were given was on the second floor and over looked a huge pile of trash outside the window. we moved to another room. Later we found out that the minibar fridge did not work. Then the AC broke down. Also the shower/bathtub doesn't drain. In general poor maintenance, and poor response to our complaints.

Hotel is centrally placed for walking in a safe and respectable area on a quiet street, although distance from subway felt like miles in the extreme heat (I visited in Aug when it was 95 deg and obscenely humid). Decor was stylish and in good order. I was in a single room at the back of the hotel which whilst very clean and modern, had no natural light other than a small window facing onto an enormous floor to roof pipe so all light was obliterated. The aircon was very noisy and leaked water all over the carpet. When I mentioned this to the reception they put an enormous fan in the room to dry out the floor - no apology or offer to move me to another room which was disappointing. My second room was a lot better, it was at the front of the hotel. The only downside was the size of this room - very very small, to the extent there wasnt even a wardrobe, it was literally 3 hooks on the wall with some coathangers. The lobby, lifts and main walkways did not have aircon so were boiling the whole time, but the 10th floor guest lounge was great; fantastic views, free internet and comfortable seating. Breakfast was served in the guest lounge - I can't comment on its quality as I ate out, but from what I saw of it, it was a basic cold buffet and I would suggest that you could get better elsewhere. So in conclusion, nicely presented hotel in a good area but some improvements needed, and put your foot down if you are offered single rooms at the back of the hotel.

I loved this hotel. The room was great and the decor was fun! Standard room is a little small so I upgraded to king room...Much better!! Everyone was friendly and accommodating!

Stayed in the Junior Suite with wife and son. It was a very clean, comfortable and stylishly decorated room. I would stay here again.

I had booked a "Standard Room" online. Although the room and the bathroom were very clean, the room itself was too small and almost completely taken up by the bed making it impossible to walk around. Also, outside the window was an extremely dirty alley with a view of air-conditioners and rear-ends of other buildings!! ne couldn't leave the curtain open at all. I don't know how other categories of rooms are, however, it's still worth it for the price.

First of all room was too small-felt like a closet! Then the airconditioner made noise and was hard to sleep. The sink in the bathroom was too shallow and had to be very careful not to splash at us.

The Marcel is truly a boutique hotel and my stay there was relaxing. The staff were very nice and they genuinely seemed to enjoy their work. The only drawback was the AC in my room did not work, so it was pretty hot. I only stayed there one night, so it was okay, but it would have been difficult if my visit was longer.

Overall the hotel was quite nice. The room was a bit snug, especially near the entrance - door barely cleared bed. I found the night mgr. to be sassy, but not in a good way. He was rude and not helpful. Day staff was lovely.

Our five-day stay at the Marcel exceeded my expectations. Typically small rooms as one expects in NYC, but friendly and helpful staff, clean and well-appointed rooms (just missed having bureau drawers,)a very reasonable hotel.com price, and a great location convenient to the 23rd st. crosstown bus and all major subway lines made it an ideal location for engaging all the city has to offer.

Brilliantly located hotel, local to access both uptown and cheaper downtown districts (where the bulk of New Yorkers live) - so you feel like one of the locals, yet only being a ten minute walk to Fifth Avenue. Great view of Empire State Building from the roof-top terrace. Rooms tend to be on the small side if you ask for Queen bed rooms so opt for the kingsize if budget can stretch but very nicely decorated - we had a fairly decent view from our window & natural light. Very helpful & friendly doorman. Nice Italian restaurant literally downstairs (although a bit pricey) and a side bar great for pre-dinner cocktails or night caps. Would definitely stay here again if came back to NY.

We were pleased with the room, though quite small, it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again...

clean rooms, a bit slick and cold. Extremely rude service at the front desk-seemed very put out at a request to hold luggage for a few hours after checkout.

This hotel was a great find - thank you Hotels.com! Rooms were very small but to be expected in Manhattan. The rooms were clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions, locations, accomodations, etc. The location was great with numerous restaurants within walking distance. The outside deck on the 10th floor was a great place to hang out, relax and read a book with a view of the Empire State Building as an extra perk!

the experience at the hotel was outstanding and it was indeed value for money. What I really liked apart from teh excellent location was the quality linen on the beds and the great pillows after a day of shopping.

We were supposed to stay two nights at The Marcel but on arrival we were told there had been a water main break and we were sent to another hotel on E. 62nd St. instead for one night. That was a big disappointment because we chose The Marcel for its location near the East Village. We did get to spend the second night there and it was fine. There's not much to the hotel itself apart from a good location, clean beds and relatively quiet rooms - but then ,what else does one need?

Very clean, well-equipped boutique hotel in a vibrant area. Plenty of restaurants, bars, diners, etc. Close to subway. Standard room is quite small and only good for one person. However, it was very clean and well taken care of. Free NY Times and use of computer/internet is nice touch.

I generally stay in this general vicinity of NYC and love how convenient it is to everything. This hotel though was a huge disappointment. My bed was more like a hammock and the overall comfort and amenities of the hotel were absolutely lacking for how swanky the hotel tries to be in appearance. I wouldn't stay here again - the bed was absolutely uncomfortable, the TV didn't work and the business center with access to free internet was closed for many hours the day I arrived so I ended up paying the fee for wireless service. Won't be staying here again.

As others have said, the room was small but adequate. We were on the 2nd floor and the floor squeaked. Had there been guests beneath us, they would have been quite irritated. On the plus side, the personnel were delightful and helpful. The lobby was pretty. We loved the location. The free computers on the 10th floor was nice, and the rooftop was an unexpected bonus.

The room was larger than I expected. I was expecting a tiny cube - one of those where you can't open the bathroom door all the way because it hits the bed - but this room was plenty comfortable although it is small. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings up-to-date. I recommended it instantly.

The rooms are varied not cookie cutters. Mine was nice but not really well suited for working in room. My colleagues room did not have a closet or ironing board. And I found my room a bit dark. That being said the linens were wonderful. The bed was super comfortable and the room was quiet - A huge bonus if you are not used to sleeping in Manhattan. The 10th floor lounge is lovely and has a nice balcony with great views. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
