Ramada Limited Downtown Vancouver - Vancouver

We stayed in this hotel only one night as we were leaving on a cruise ship the next day. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a few hours to kill that morning and they were more than happy to recommend places to visit in the amount of time we had. The hotel room is small, small but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was updated and clean. Picture New York City sized rooms. Everything was in great condition, the beds were comfortable and best of all there was no street noise in our hotel room. The breakfast room is hot but the breakfast was decent, I think you need to get there early for eggs but they had pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, rolls, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, anything you might want to breakfast. I recommend this hotel for the price and because I don't mind small hotels when I travel, I am more interested in being outside anyway.

There is an area in Vancouver between Gastown and Chinatown best avoided. There is nothing wong with this hotel but it is situated near enough to the area described for panhandlers to near at hand. At night it is best to go towards Burrard Street.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights Aug 2009. We loved the room--small but certainly big enough, charming and with character, not corporate. Very comfortable beds, nice linens, very quiet, attrractive furnishings, clean. No view, but who cares? We spent our time outside downtown anyway. Easy walking distance to Gastown, Chinatown, Canada Center, Downtown. Vancouver is a very compact city and you can walk nearly anywhere. The hotel itself is in a zone of just a few dicey blocks, but it was not a problem at all. Valet parking for the car, which is an addtional cost, but worhtwhile to keep it safe. If you need to get it other than between 7 am and 11PM (say, to catch an early ferry), it is worth getting instructions from them the previous day re: how to find it. The valet actually walked us to the lot the previous evening so we could find it, which was helpful. It's okay to park the car in front of the hotl for a few minutes while you load/unload--traffic is light enough in this area that it was not a problem. Breakfast is in the basement, not very charming and there were no hot dishes--just bagels, muffins, apples, coffe and juice, cereal. Enough to start the day, nothing special. But the room and the hotel proper are great, full of charatecter and in good shape, great location and the price is right. We would stay there again.

The hotel itself was fine, although room was very small and air conditioner was a wall unit variety. The neighborhood was poor and bordered on unsafe. Seedy old partially boarded up building right across the street! Would not walk around the area due to the location.

During the day the hotel location was fine, close to transportation and convenient to locations such as Gastown and China Town. At night the character of the location went dramatically down hill.

Rooms were dark and unfriendly, havn't been renovated for a long time, lack of windows, stuffy air, poor breakfast. But: good location, ok value for money

We stayed here before a Cruise because of the location. Close enough to walk the seawalk and to the terminal. Room small but clean. Nice for one night stay.

Good overall....Construction in the area was not pleaseant and gave the hotel a rundown apearance.

I just called my bank now, after I noticed a pending transaction from RAMADA Hotel and don't have idea what is this charge for. I do clearance while I checked out and there is no any extra service/charge except the room service. This is my second time getting service from the hotel and I was 100% satisfied in the first time but now don't have confidence and trust to book again in this hotel.

Great location in the downtown area and a short walk to Gastown. The complimentary breakfast was great. Only problem for us was parking our car. The overnight parking rates in downtown Vancouver is fairly high, and so is the hotel's valet parking.

Hotel is right on Pender - walking distance to chinatown, robson and glanville streets. There's plenty of sketchiness downtown, so be smart when walking around at night. That said, even the bums and druggies were polite. The hotel itself was nice on the inside, wiht the roooms appearing to have been recently updated. The only downside is that sometimes people go to Vancouver to party, so we had a lot of noise with people returning to their rooms after a night of drinking. No biggy, to be expected. I'm just saying don't expect a "peaceful" nights sleep.

This was a great hotel for the value we paid. It is within walking distances to every place we wanted to go, Downtown, Chinatown, by the water. The hotel is old, but the renovation made it just like almost new. It's clean, friendly service personnels. The elevator is very small and slow just like other previous reviews. It wasn't a big deal for us since we are on the 2nd floor, so we walked the stairs for our excercises. The free breakfast was another good value, yes the basement was warm as expected from the reviews, but it was OK for us because it's not summer yet...lol. Overall, it's the best value hotel for the price you pay. Don't expect it to be a five stars hotel, because you're not paying the 5 stars price. I would rate it at least a 3 stars, and I do recommend people to give it a try. The location is great, but you might just see a few homeless around once a while, not a big deal though.

This hotel has no parking for guests so they charge $25 per night to pay a neighboring hotel's parking lot. Though it provides valet service for free, it does not cover 24 hours. If you have to leave at a time that valet service is not available, you have to "look" for your car yourself which makes it very difficult and inconvenient. I left very early in the morning and got so soaked in the rain trying to find my car in a not so safe neighborhood because the hotel front desk employee was not helpful at all. Thank God an individual walking in the street helped us. Worst thing was the hotel employee had an argument with this helping individual who was trying to help us.

I was pleased to be able to find such an economical, yet comfortable hotel downtown. The front desk staff were extremely helpful, even checking channel listings so I could watch a Formula 1 race one night. Very close to many of the attractions, with most downtown attractions & shopping only a few minutes walk. I used the hotel to visit a trade show at Canada Place, and found it very convenient, and suitable for business travel.

Hotel is located in heart of downtown area, easy 6 block walk to convention center. There are many restaurants in the area to grab a bite to eat. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was an added bonus. Many things to choose from including hot french toast or pancakes. Bagels were fresh and delicious. Only downfalls of hotel are the super small rooms and the price for parking. Parking cost was about half the cost of the room itself. But as long as you figure that in your budget, it is a great place to stay!

I stayed from 01/11/09 to 01/13/09. Although the hotel website said free wireless internet, on checking in the front desk staff said that it is currently out and not working. It only after 24hrs that it came back. This is a clean hotel with a very tiny room.

Stayed on the 4th floor and could pretty much hear everything going on around, above and below me. The cleaning staff were friendly and did a failrly good job. The location is very convinient but the hotel could use a little sprucing up.

Front desk employees were always courteous and helpful, especially in helping to meet individual needs. Great location on Granville Island allows for easy exploration of North and South Vancouver; if it's too rainy out, there's a great book store and coffee shop right around the corner.

Nice location, inexpensive and has a great breakfast.

The hotel is very well maintained, the rooms were clean, the service was very good with friendly and helpful staff. The neighborhood is not that bad people who think this is "skid row" have never traveled to places like San Francisco or Reno. The panhandlers are not aggressive & leave you alone I felt very safe walking the street at all hours of the night. The neighborhood reminded me of my own San Francisco neighborhood (Hayes Valley). I'll be back to the Ramada Limited Downtown Vancouver.

Breakfast room is too hot. Like a sauna. Items available for breakfast not good.

This hotel was withing walking distance from Canada Place (cruise ship terminal)so that made it convenient for our one night stay. We felt the price was a little high for this hotel. The room was TINY and noise levels are TERRIBLE. Walls must be extremely thin as we could hear every time someone came down the hall and what they were saying, especially after 10 p.m.at night. Our room was located just next to the ice machine (avoid this at all costs) so extremely loud. The bathroom had a very musty smell, especially after showers were used which brought moisture into room. Staff was friendly and professional and hotel is very secure in that you have to insert room key into elevator slot to gain access beyond first floor. Area around hotel pretty rundown but within a few blocks walking distance is Gaytown (near Canada Place) which has several nice restaurants and shops

I loved the convenience of the location but wished it could have been a little more reasonable in price for the size of room. It was pretty small and felt dark inside. Not a room to "hang out in".

Close to the cruise ships and the harbor -- very friendly and helpful staff.

I felt like I was sleeping in a shoebox because it was such a tiny room for four people. However, the staff was very helpful and accommodated all of our luggage while our room was being made up (I checked in early). The breakfast was nice too. I thought the cost of parking was a bit excessive. Other comments focus on the seediness of the hotel area, but I never felt bothered by this...but I'm from Berkeley, CA, a home for all homeless people.

Small room, good breakfasts, unappealing area of town, no place to pull up with your car in front of the hotel. It was good for a night stopover, but a bit too much for a few hours of sleep.

The room was very cramped quarters. There were homeless beggars walking around the sidewalks at night and in the morning. The breakfast room was in the basement and was about 20 degrees too hot.

The hotel was in very well maintained, the rooms were clean and spacey, the service was very good with friendly and helpful staff. The neighborhood was not favorable, being located in 'skid row'. During daytime the area was ok but having been outside after nightfall with my older mother and 2 little children I certainly did not feel comfortable. Once back to the hotel I did feel perfectly safe and comfortable again. The fare for overnight parking in the area I felt was overpriced.

It was one of the most inexpensive hotels in the area. Excellent location, great staff, breakfast was very decent and better than a lot of free breakfasts most hotels offer. The room was small but very clean and comfortable enough. Valet parking is fast and convenient.

The staff at the Ramada were very helpful and eager to serve. Parking was valet only and was an extra one time fee. The elevator was very small and held 4 people without luggage only. The room was a bed and an amoire as well as a very small bathroom without counter space. Our room was next to the icemaker which was noisy all night. Free breakfast was served in a small, hot room.

People at the reception desk were all helpful and friendly. It was in a great location, and the breakfast was very decent.

The hotel was nice. The rooms are small but ok. The problem was the doors into the stairwells. Very loud and made it very difficult to sleep at night.

Nice hotel staff with free internet service and a fine breakfast included. Close to the cruise ship port. Discount given at the friendly bar next door, Jager's, on food for hotel guests. Unfortunately downtown Vancouver is troubled by homeless and drug addicts looking for a handout, which is not the hotel's fault.

Much less than expensive ones nearby with mor e amenities. Breakfast included, including eggs added to the value.

The hotel was lovely. It was within walking distance from the port and about a $30 taxi ride from the airport. The staff was wonderful. We arrived and they knew who we were and were very friendly. The view from our room was lovely. I would not say much for the breakfast though. We decided to eat elsewhere.

I was visiting Vancouver on a last minute quick business trip and needed a cheap place close to downtown. I chose Ramada because it was cheap enough and was very near to where I was conducting business. With a 2.5 star rating, I was expecting a run down and old "make do" kind of hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel staff was very courteous and helpful from beginning to end, the room itself was small but enough for 2 people, the furniture and bathroom fittings were all brand new and they are very flexible in accommodating to changing reservation plans. The buffet breakfast was better than expected and most importantly for me, the hotel was is walking distance of not only the downtown area but also restaurants, malls and tourist attractions. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel. Overall, my experience was excellent and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Vancouver.

This hotel is very old and it shows. We were somewhat close to the elevator and every time it went up and down our room would shake. Our room was also very small. Downtown Vancouver is like the ghetto, very dirty and spray paint everywhere. I will not return to the Ramada and most likely won't return to Vancouver. I stayed there because I've never stayed in a Ramada that wasn't way above average, now I can't say that.

This Ramada Limited on the edge of a changing Vancouver BC downtown neighborhood is a wonderful restoration of an historic building. The interior is pleasing in its colors and textures and so sparklingly clean that it looks as though the restoration was done yesterday. Bravo to a staff that really cares about the facility and the guests.

I stayed at the Ramada for three nights. It was a pleasant experience over all. The room wasn't anything special, nor was the view. There isn't anything extravagant about it, and therefore it isn't too pretentious. The price I paid was very reasonable, especially considering the outrageously expensive places nearby. Everything I needed was in walking distance and I spent most of my time wandering aimlessly around downtown Vancouver without a map and easily found my way back to the hotel. The hotel staff was very pleasant, professional and always eager to help. I would recommend this hotel to travelers and humble sightseers, people who might not need a pool or spa or workout room, but just a nice place to sleep and clean up after a long day of hiking around and attending business meetings. The continental breakfast was a perk, since restaurants are super spendy in the downtown area.

The staff was very friendly, the location very central to all things (Gastown, Robson, etc.) and the area directly around the hotel felt very safe. Except for the additional $25 parking charge per day (though on your checkout day, they very kindly let you keep your car in parking till 5pm with no extra charge), it was great. Small rooms but who cares - you should never be there anyway except to sleep! Breakfast was your average - not too great, not too bad - type of "free" hotel breakfast.
