This was my second time staying in Earl's Court while in London. The City Continental is typical of the 3 star hotels in the area. Small rooms, good prices, good staff, and great location to get into and around London. Tube is 1/2 block away. My only complaint is the price of their WIFI and the fact that it is not very good. It was very slow and intermittant during my stay. I did get a refund when I complained about it.

The single room is very small, that was expected. The decor was severly lacking which could have made a huge difference in making a small room visually comfortable. None of the decor matched which really gave the room a "bargain basement" feel. Short of that, the idea was to save as much as possible to be in London for a week and for that this sufficed, I was hardly in the room. I got exactly what I paid for. It was clean and comfortable for my stay.

we just needed a cheap room that was close to the earl's court station for our last night in london; so in that regards the hotel was great. however, i wouldn't recommend it for any more than that. the room was a million degrees with the heater not on, and we also had to ride the lift to the third floor and walk up the tiny staircase to our room. someone with a lot of luggage wouldn't have an easy go of it. the shower pressure was great; but barely lukewarm. the shower stall itself was tiny and one of the sliding doors was off it's hinges on the bottom. if you have a "more to love" type of body you aren't going to love the shower:)

The hotel is very conveniently located, a mere 2 min stroll away from Earls Court tube station but in a quiet side street. The hotel itself is quite old, but they do their utmost to keep it clean throughout. The room I stayed in was small, with the sink in the room itself. The bathroom is ok with a good power shower. The reception staff was friendly and eager to help. Don´t be fooled by the mention of complimentary internet in the rooms, that´s not the case. You have to buy vouchers to go online, which are quite expensive. Breakfast is included and reasonable, nothing out of the ordinary though. If you book early enough this is a cheaply priced accommodation in central London (zone 2), very close to the Natural History Museum and Royal Albert Hall, and a 10-15 min tube ride away from Oxford Circus.

Ok, 1st the good: Great location Clean Decent price Now for the rest: There was no hot water for the last day of our stay. We called at 10pm to alert staff. Found out the next morning that while this was 'noted', nothing was done. In fact all that needed to be done was to restart the boiler (maintenance told us this the next morning) Unfortunately, by the time this was done (9am), it would take 2 hours for the boiler to warm up. Thus all guests checking out or heading out for biz (us) were screwed. Why wasn't the issue taken care of the night the problem was reported??? The beds were horrible: mattresses sunken in with springs poking out everywhere. From the moment we walked in, we got a frosty reception, and our request for free internet was dealt with in almost an angry manner. No excuse for the handling of the hot water situation. If this is my business, I'm refunding and someone is getting reprimanded/warned/fired. Inexcusable.

This hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Earl's Court station on the Picadilly line. Very easy to get around London from there and a great price considering the location. However, the hotel room for my single bed was very very tiny. I already knew this from a previous review so I wasn't disappointed and I worked around it. Not a big deal. Also, the hotel has wifi but charges for it. The receptionist suggested that I could go to one of the many internet cafes around the Earl's Court station where it was significantly cheaper. Breakfast in the morning was a great selection... three kinds of cereal, bread and a toaster, many kinds of jam, croissants, and yogurt. Breakfast costs 5 pounds. The room was quite comfortable though it was small. Even though it was the middle of winter, I wasn't too cold. The bathroom was quite good and the shower got as hot as I wanted it for as long as I wanted. I would recommend this hotel for the price and location if you're willing to be a bit flexible with the room size.

where do i start how about my entry into the hotel the receptionist wasn't pleasant at all. i was met with " what's your name". She also stated that i had been charged for my stay and i hadn't even checked in. I was told that continental breakfast is served from a certain time however they i would have to pay for it, if you've charged me for my stay before i've even arrived why not charge me for the breakfast? Once i received my hotel key i noticed my room was on the fourth floor and the elevator only went to the third. i had to carry my suit case up two flights of stairs to get to the fourth floor. once there i entered my room to find my bed had no sheets my door had no latch to lock. the heat was well above average. i also was required to pay a deposit for a television remote and a a/c remote. The bathroom wasn't to my expectations my toilet didn't flush. Since i had been charged already i expected a bathtub there was only a shower when i opened the shower the door hinge fell off which showed me if i was to take a shower water would be all over the place. my television was tiny and didn't work.

Bewertet von Trisha aus Omaha am Okt 1, 2008
If you aren't planning on spending your entire trip in your room (and why would you?), this hotel is a great value with great city access! This hotel is located just around the corner from the Earl's Court tube station, which made it a great hub for visiting London. There are also several restaurants in the area as well as at least two markets, if you want to pay less for a bottle of water or throw together a meal of your own. I was prepared for a tiny matchbox of a room, but our room with two twin beds worked fine for two adult women and their suitcases. You will be living out of your suitcase, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The bathroom was spacious, but a lot of the room was taken up by the huge tub and there's not really any counter space. But we still managed. There were a couple of nights we noticed noise from the hallway, but we never noticed anything from adjoining rooms. We didn't have too many interactions with the staff during our stay, but they were helpful when we needed them. For an older building, it was very well kept and definately served its purpose well. With the proximity to the tube, you can get anywhere quickly and the price is right!

While this hotel is in a great location (Earl's Court underground tube is very close) the hotel was not that impressive. The room was tiny, the reception staff were not very helpful to someone who has never been to London before, and the condition of the room was very bad. The floors squeaked every time anyone walked on them (including the hallway when other people would go to their room late at night) which was noisy, the window in my room rattled which made it hard to sleep and the condition of my bathroom was bad. They say they offer complimentary toiletries - they do not. If you are looking for something cheap and don't mind noisy floors when you are trying to sleep and dirty bathrooms, then stay here. I was not at all impressed.

This hotel is an incredible value. The rooms are nice and clean, of ample size, and newly refurbished. Beds, etc., very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Best of all, the location! It is 1.5 blocks from Earl's Court Tube Station, giving you access to all of London. There are grocery stores and pharmacies nearby for shopping and a bunch of nice restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance. There are even 3 laundries close by. Perfect for an affordable, pleasant stay in London. Only caveat: The lift does not go up to the 4th floor, so be prepared to climb steep stairs. Breakfast was marginal, but okay. I'd go back tomorrow.

I was a little disappointed with the hotel. The room I stayed in was absolutely tiny - barely room enough for two twin beds side by side. Considering the price, I was expecting a bit bigger room. Moreover, our room was right next the stair case with a swinging door, which would bang shut every time someone entered the hallway and wake us up at all hours of the night. The room itself was clean, although neither the beds nor the pillows were very comfortable. The only real positives I can think of for this hotel are that it is a couple blocks away from the Tube station - although Earls Court is a bit out of the way - and the price is reasonable - for British standards.

Also, the Earl Court Metro is on the Piccadilly line. That line connects directly to Heathrow. In the neighborhood, there are good pubs, restaurants, food stores. Vårt resesällskaps rum var i sämre skick än vårat. Allmänt: När renoveringen är helt avlutat blir detta ett utmärkt alternativ, om man söker ett bra beläget hotell till en överkomlig kostnad.
