Hotel Shelley - Miami Beach

Uns hatten Fotos und Lage sowie die vorhandenen Bewertungen sehr angesprochen - vorgefunden haben wir allerdings extrem kleine, etwas schmuddelige Zimmer ohne jeglichen Stauraum, kaputte Fenster sowie eine immer nach "Kneipe" riechende Lobby (+ Treppenhaus). Die Lage ist sehr laut, was uns allerdings bekannt war und insbesondere and der Bar des Hotels und des dazugehörigen Hotel/ Bar auf der anderen Straßenseite liegt. Wem es gefällt: Freie Drinks für Hotelgäste zur Happy Hour. Positiv: kostenloser Hotelshuttle

Das Hotel liegt ausgezeichnet im Art Deco Viertel und ist nur einen Steinwurf vom Ocean Drive und dem Strand entfernt. Die Zimmer sind modern eingerichtet. Einziger Wermutstropfen war ein starker Geruch in unserem Zimmer, der vom frisch gebohnerten Holzboden ausging. Ein kleiner Nachteil ist der fehlende Parkplatz; es gibt jedoch wenige 100 Meter entfernt ein bewachtes Parkhaus (14$ / Tag). Ansonsten durchaus empfehlenswert.

nettes Hotel der Southbeach-Hotelgruppe, ordentliche Einrichtung, jedoch Frühstück katastrophal und leider einige Kakerlaken im Zimmer, was in den Breiten aber immer vorkommen kann...

The hotels location is outstanding, very close to the beach and just in the art deco district. These were the posulitive aspects. The hotel review says there are parking places at the hotel, but it doesn't tell the price of 35$ over night. The rooms are quite small but nice designed, the shower, as a due to design, floats the whole bathroom. One day the roomservice took the used towels away but didn't place new ones, I had to remind the receptionist at night to care for that. At night some rooms had parties and it was far to noisy to even thing about sleeping, the front desks reaction was to tell the noisy guests to keep the doors closed, musik and shouting lasted till 4 a.m. There is a bar located in the first floor, music can be heard in some rooms in the second floor! Allover, the location is great, the price is ok, but the service was poor. I'd not recommend this hotel for families or just not for partie looking persons.

I only stayed here for one night.. wish it could of been more. the hotel was really good. the whole dark-hallways thing, i found it unique in a good way. and the location is perfect.. i really recommend it.

I just stayed at Hotel Shelley last week and I was pretty much satisfied with the hotel considering the amount of money I paid. Pros 1. Location. 2. Cost Effective. 3. Free happy hour drinks. 4. Good staff. Cons 1. Rooms can get noisy if you are staying on the 1st floor. I stayed on the second floor and I heard no noise from the bar below. 2. Lighting is really poor in the room. Its hard to read a book. 3. No parking at the hotel (Valet service is 30$ per day) 4. Room size is okay for 2 people. 5. No internet in the rooms but then there is internet at the lobby and I am assuming a whole lot of people have iphones with Data plans nowadays.

Rude, Unfriendly and they even take over a week to release the $100 hold they put on your card. Mine still hasnt come off. They did not have any customer service, only cheap drinks from 7-8pm that were done by a really poor bartender. The desk clerk was just rude and very disrespectful too. I dont recommend this to anyone.

It's the perfect hotel for young people or anyone who loves nightlife. Hotel offers happy hours, free drink and free club pass. The location couldn't be better. The room is ok, althought with 2 queen beds the space was quite scarce. Bathroom very nice, very large. The only downside was no space for your cloths, the guardrobe is very small, we were 3 adults in the room and if you're only 2 it's ok you can use the other bed as storage space. For breakfast they offer only coffee and juice nothing to eat but they do offer free shuttle to and from the airport, that's value for money.

The room was alright for the price that we paid. This is what all of the other reviews stated, the only main problem that concerned me was that when I took a shower the tile in the shower was so filthy that I wore shower shoes. The room was very economical, but it is no excuse for a nasty bathroom.

This hotel is very clean and great service. The location is perfect. You are a block from the beach, restaurants, stores, etc.

Young trendy vibe all staff very friendly and helpful the best hotel in the Art Deco district!!!!! 5*****

It's very young, hip hotel, with hip-hop playing in the downstairs lounge and a full-bar next to check in. No elevators tho. Hallway's painted all black and in the room, wall's lined with white leather. Different feel for a hotel, different from all the other hotel I've ever stayed with. Excellent location, one block from South Beach!

After arranging early check-in for no extra fee, I was told I had to pay an extra $20 for early check-in (which I did't do). Finally, at 3pm, I had to wait almost an hour to check in because the servers were down. Now for the room....the 21 inch tv mounted to the wall didn't work, the toilet didn't flush, the shower had a half door so the whole bathroom flooded, and the non-smoking room absolutelly reeked of old cigarettes. I did inform the desk clerk of these things and got a smile and a shrug in return. Also, the room is super small, no chairs and hardly any room to put your stuff down. On the positive side, great location, complimentary cocktails from 7-8pm, and very cheap (I suppose I got what I paid for). On a side note to those visiting SOBE for the first time, find a parking garage (which the city runs) near your hotel. It will only cost $20 per 24 hr period....If you let the hotel valet, it will be $30+ per day, and you never know who's getting in and out of your car.

The location of the Hotel Shelly is definitely one of the best if not the best on South Beach for the amount of money that you would be expected to pay in a prime location. Best perk "open bar"!

Great location in South Beach. We stayed on first floor and the halls are black like a haunted house. Not sure why they are, just kind of strange. The room was nicer than I expected, and everything was decently clean, though I don't think we got one towel/sheet that didn't have a hair on it, and the sheets didn't seem to fit the king sized bed properly. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Saw one cockroach during our 3 days there; no other bugs though. Hotel was loud at night, but mainly because other guests like to stay up partying all night (this is South Beach after all, and it was Memorial Day weekend). Room keys did not work well. We went through 8 keys and 1 worked. Other people seemed to have the same problem. When I was checking out, the woman at the deck said you can't put them in your wallet or other credit cards will deactivate them.. Not sure if that's why ours didn't work, or why they didn't tell us that to begin with. Check in/check out is slow, so don't be in a hurry. They forgot to clean our room the second day, and we got back at 6pm to a dirty room. I asked them to please clean it, and it was clean within 15 minutes. So no complaints there. Not too bad for it's location and price. Would recommend, but just don't expect 5-star hotel cleanliness and service.

Okay so we get there and the hotel is in the middle of all the shopping centers, there was NO parking we had to park in a deck like 2 blocks down(ended up bein 35.00) then when we got in there, it was nasty & smelled bad. We finally get our key and go up the stairs, I was lookin around corners scared something was goin to jump out at me like in a haunted house. Get the the room and the keys dont work!! (the halls ways are dark as crap too) as we are tryin to get one of the keys to work, two girls walk by and say "oh girl, you mind as well as soon as you come in get the guy to reset your door keys, we have been stayin here 2 days and if your door keys get to close to a camera or cellphone they wont work!" lol could this get any worse?!? so i go back down and the guy fixes them and comes up with us the get in. We get in the room and my friend goes to use the bathroom and two roaches go runnin! yeah roaches not lil bugs or water bugs!! so we go back down and tell him we cant stay with roaches! so we get another room, we go up and the key doesnt work!! SOOOOOOOOO DONT STAY THERE! IT IS MORE FOR IF YOU ARE AT A BAR AND WANT TO FIND A PLACE TO STAY TO HOOKED UP!! CAUSE YOU WILL DEF. HEAR IT ALLLLLL NIGHT!!

Good location right around the corner from the strip. Nice happy hour everyday with free drinks. Will definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I have stayed in Miami several times. We were looking for a cheap hotel in a good location in South Beach for a night out and we found it. Walking distance to beach, Lincoln Road shops, restaurants and bars on Ocean Drive (check out Mangos for Salsa fun) as well as the more upscale bars, clubs and hotels (check out Shore Club, Plunge and The Florida Room for almost guaranteed good nights out - but pricey). I honestly expected worse for the money we paid and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were polite and friendly and the beds were comfy, nice clean rooms, decent bathrooms with good shower and nice fresh towels. Excellent fridge and bar snacks in your room. Would stay again. Can be noisy - but everywhere in South Beach is, although there was absolutely no noise at night in our room (we stayed on the 3rd floor).

The Hotel Shelly is in a great location - easy walk to the beach, shopping, great places to eat. Rooms are comfortable enough - although could use better lighting. The staff is friendly enough, but they didn't actually get things done (aka we asked for another towel, it never came. We asked for ice - never got it). Good value overall for the price and the location.

Location was great. We were on the 3rd floor but no elevator with lots of lagguage...it was not a fun. But it is only one block from Ocean Drive. There are lots of shops and restaurants around the hotel. We did not spend much time at the hotel anyway so it is OK for a shower and sleep. Bathroom needs a little more space.

When I checked into my room, the bathroom had NOT been cleaned. When I say had not been cleaned, I mean it looked as if someone had food poisoning the night before and the cleaning crew decided they didn't want to clean it. So I immediately called the front desk and asked them to clean the bathroom again. I left the room for the remainder of the day but when the evening came, I laid my clothes on top of the bed because I was unsure if the sheet were cleaned! I decided to go downstairs and find a new hotel at 4am because I just could not sleep. The free internet did not work and but luckily was able to pick up a signal from a nearby hotel. For the same money, ended up staying at a better hotel, better location and best of all, it was clean. Sorry but this is not worth it. Hotels.com should drop this hotel.

After reviewing a few hotels, I contacted a friend in Miami to see which one he would recommend. He stated that Hotel Shelley was a good pick. I arrived and was pleasantly surprised by the exterior. Hotel Shelley is a much older, historic boutique hotel. I was greeted promptly by the valet and escorted to the front desk where my reservation and room were ready to go. Throughout my stay the customer service was much better than many chain-hotels. From the valet to the front desk, bar staff and housekeeping-All were very attentive and wanting to ensure that I had what I needed for an enjoyable stay. The location is perfect. One block from the ocean & beaches and a few blocks walk to the famous Lincoln Road Mall. Hotel Shelley is surrounded by great shopping, restaurants, and other boutique hotels. The front of the hotel features a nice outdoor patio area perfect for enjoying a cocktail or people watching. Inside, the main areas are split up into the front desk, lounge areas and a very nice bar area. This hotel is dark inside with walls painted an off-brown color. This just adds to the ambiance and experience. Guest rooms are not huge but are well appointed and clean. Parking can be a challenge anywhere in South Beach but the Hotel has a number of cost effective recommendations. Just ask when you check in. Remember that Hotel Shelley is not a 5 star luxury resort and I would not recommend staying there if that is what you are expecting. However, if you are looking for a memorable experience in South Beach at a historic hotel that is close to everything for a great rate, I think you will enjoy your stay. I have already referred this hotel to others and will stay there again on my next visit.

great location! right by high end shopping stores, gift shops... great party hotel.. free happy hour from 7-8 was good!! --- my stay was during spring break and it was great!!!

There were multiple drunken fist fights and screaming matches going on in the hallway between 2am and 3am that the hotel did nothing to break up when reported. Overall the rooms were very loud and the service was non-existent. The music from the bar in the hotel lobby is pumped until the wee hours, and could easily be heard in our room on the first floor throughout the night. A fuse also blew in the morning when I was using the blowdryer, which stopped the A/C. We called the front desk, waited a half hour for someone to come down, and eventually just checked out cause we couldn't bear the heat.

I stayed here with my friend for one night, a Monday. The room was not ready when we arrived, but conveniently, if we paid $20 it would be ready in "30 to 45 minutes." It was not. Our room was small and tastefully decorated. Very deco. The bathroom was very small and had large clumps of hair left on the floor. Our room was close to the bar area, thus we heard every sound in the lobby. During the Happy Hour, very Loud Techno music was playing and patrons were yelling and howling. This died down for a while and restarted around 11:00. We had an early morning flight and needed to sleep. Check out was easy and they did have a shuttle to the airport for free.

If you are looking for a place to stay close from the turist attractions, ata good price, this is it! If you are going on bussiness don't go to this hotel or you will wake up everyday on a bad mood. The best hotels, with the best people, and the best spots to go to are from 15th street and up...anything lower than that is that....lower quality

The perfect hotel for the perfect party weekend. I stayed at the Hotel Shelly for a bachelorette party and it couldn't have been better. Close to beach, bars, and cafes. Fun and friendly hotel staff and a great happy hour.

The hotel is dark, the hallways are way too dark, but the staff is great, the room was clean and the location was excellent.

The happy hour is really awesome and they have useful shuttle service to airport for free.

Hotel is clean and nice but as with other reviews problems with service. Was told we had a double room in the morning, then when back to check-in only room left was single.

We were meeting friends of ours in Miami Beach and they were staying 4-blocks from us but paying 4x the price we paid. Very cute art deco style hotel. Interesting lobby and front porch overlooking Collins Avenue. Room was small but had everything in it with a beautiful bathroom. They had a free cocktail hour from 7-8PM and coffe and juice in the morning. Also, they told us about parking our car in a garage overnight (at our own risk) and we paid only $20 for almost 24 hours. Hallways are dark, no elevator, so be prepared to walk up the stairs.

Within walking distance to the beach is a a plus. Many restaurants to choose from in the location.

Pros: *Great location - walk to the beach, walk to restaurants & bars, both upscale and budget, walk to shopping. *Great lobby & front porch - many hotels reserve their front for a restaurant, Hotel Shelly has guest seating so you can relax outside and people watch. *Reasonably priced mini bar - seriously. *Well maintained and cool looking. Modern decor and ultra comfy bed. *WiFi everywhere (lobby, bar, in rooms). *Friendly staff. Cons: *No parking. There is a public lot a few blocks away for an additional charge (not included with room). *No closets or hooks to hang clothing in the room. Seriously the only hooks we had to hang clothes on were IN the shower *No restaurant, vending machines or ice. You have to go across the street to another hotel to fill your ice bucket. *No spa or fitness center/gym. Guests can buy a pass (not included in price of room) to Crunch about 5 blocks away. *Small room - very little floor space, shower only (no tub), the only shelf was packed with 'mini bar' items, the fridge was packed with 'mini bar' items.

Hotel Shelley was exactly what we needed, and expected. It is not a four star hotel...I think some folks on this website don't understand what the star ratings mean. About us: married couple, mid/late 30's, no kids, just down in Miami for a few days to thaw out from the brutal Chicago winter and partake in the Miami Spice specials. Things we liked about Hotel Shelley: fantastic location (heart of South Beach area, two blocks from shore), updated interiors (marble/glass bath, small flat screen tv), and service (room/towels cleaned each day, free happy hour, free coffee/juice in the mornings, beach towels from front desk each day). Also, our first floor room was at the far end of the hall, so it was rather quiet. We ran the AC all the time and never heard any noise coming from the lobby. Some people have been concerned about dark hallways (they are) and noise from the lobby. Neither was an issue for me and my wife, but I could see how a different room location, etc. might make those things more irritating. The room was indeed quite small. My wife and I had to maneuever around each other to get to the bathroom, use the dresser etc. Again, not a big deal for us...but if we weren't a married couple it would be a pain. Also, no closet in our room. So no way to really hang anything. We just utilized the dresser to lay clothes flat. Finally, we arrived at airport around 10:30pm. Last free shuttle for the night was supposed to leave airport at 11pm...and of course it never showed up. There was another couple waiting there (almost 2 hours!), so we ended up splitting the cab fare with them to get to South Beach. Irritating, but not a show stopper. Overall, we were satisfied...but we had realistic expectations. I would definitely recommend this hotel for low maintenance married couples. On the other hand, I would not recommend this hotel for young families or those people that need more space to feel comfortable. You will feel very cramped... By the way, we had sunny skies and

I parked my car, showed up at the Shelley, waited ten minutes at the front desk, and they told me I had been booked at a different hotel, the Kent, which was under construction and four blocks down the street on Collins. I never got to stay at the Shelley, because they switched me to a different hotel!! The Kent was OK, but not in as convenient a location, and it was under construction, and the internet did not work....

This hotel was clean, convenient & comfortable. The location was convenient for dining and valet parking was vital. Reception was very helpful. The only thing we didn't like was the brown walls and carpet, quite a dark looking place.Otherwise, it was good place for the money.

The walls are paper thin, and on top of that, the maids make as much noise as possible.

This small hotel was a bargain in a great location. Everything was in walking distance--shops, beach, and restaurants. A couple of issues were: we did not like the dark hotel hallways. Also, we didn't have any towels in the room and when we realized called down to the front desk. After waiting 30 minutes and still not receiving the towels, called again to have no one answer the phone. My husband finally went downstairs to get them to find the desk clerk chatting with a couple of girls. Not a really big deal because we would definately stay here again.

This hotel is one of the better ones on the block. Other nearby hotels had a decor that was very dark making it impossible to see in the room (i.e. the Chesterfield). However, the Shelley's decor was very light so this wasn't a problem.

After our cruise we stayed an extra couple of days in Miami to enjoy our honeymoon a little longer. We found a diamond in the rough with Hotel Shelley. It was a great place, very clean and comfortable, close to everything South Beach has to offer, and we found it at a great price.
