A clean hotel with good staff on the front desk - Dale was exceptional and looked after us brilliantly! We are a family of four with two teenage children and we stayed in Vancouver for 5 nights. The hotel is clean and comfortable with a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast has to be eaten in your room as the hotel does not have a restaurant/dining room. We left the car in the hotel car park for our entire stay and walked to all the places we visited in China Town, Gas Town, Robson Street, Stanley Park and Granville Island. They are all a good walk but quite comfortable. The only criticism I have was that a few electrical sockets/switches in the room did not seem to be securely fixed in the walls.

Outstanding hotel--tremendous value. Beautiful, spacious suite, well-appointed, sophisticated decor. Quiet neighborhood. Small, intimate, plain lobby belies the lovely ambience of the rooms. Recommend highly. The two younger gentlemen who manned the desk in afternoon and evening were charming, helpful; the only sour note was the surly, rude older guy who was at desk during night, and early am.

We were pleasently surprised at how nice this small hotel was considering it only had a 2 star rating. We loved that it was on a residential street and conveniently located. It appeared to have been recently renovated and was very clean and new.

Yes, the hotel was good, you can tell it was originally an apartment complexe later fixed as a hotel... but that is Ok. The parking is bad, narrow spaces and narrow and sharp turns to get into the parking lots.

Recommended to us by friends - years ago - we finally got back up to Vancouver and got the chance to try it out. Location couldn't be better, nice suites and though it was more than we usually like to spend on a hotel room it was well worth it. The kitchenette saved us some money as we ordered too much food from a nearby restaurant and it was nice to have leftovers for breakfast!

Our three night stay began after arriving from Seattle. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two members of the staff and provided with a comfortable room and hotel parking. Our hotel room was spacious with a king size bed and queen size sofa bed which were very comfortable. Our unit had a complete kitchen which served our purposes for snacks and leftover dinners and dessets. The location of the hotel was central to Stanley Park, downtown, Chinatown, and Grouse Mountain, all of which were on our agenda. The hotel was also close to Denman Street where you could find many different and wonderful restaurents. Davie Street also provided an opportunity to try many tasty desserts. It was one of my best selected "sight unseen" choices I have ever made.

My husband and I were thrilled with our stay at Sunset Inns and Suites. We got a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite (I'd booked a studio) which was huge, clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished. I can't believe it's the same price as a much lower end hotel. The location and parking are fantastic. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel. We'll be sure to stay there again and tell our friends.

This hotel was really really nice....it was cozy and comfortable and very convenient for us. We had a great view and the room was very clean and appealing.....Secure parking was available, and also very convenient. The staff people were more than accomodating...as we arrived early before the room was ready....we had an appointment so the front desk person stored our luggage for us......the morning breakfast was very nice and the coffee was delicious.....absolutely no complaints....I would recommend this hotel to anyone

We came to Vancouver for 2 days for a short getaway. We parked our car in the hotel's free gated parking and never had to drive during our stay. The hotel is a pleasant 20 minute walk to Stanley Park via the seawall walk. From the hotel it is also easy to access the ferries (Aquabus and False Creek Ferry) which can transport you to other city attractions. The staff is helpful in giving recommendations for getting around the city and what to see. The hotel is close to numerous excellent restaurants and cafes. The room was fantastic with a fully equiped kitchen. My husband and I would certainly stay here again!

This was a great apartment size hotel room with a dining table for 4 as well as a kitchen with fridge, stove, oven with dishes and pots. We were 1 block from a main street with a multitude of restaurant choices. Parking was in a gated garage below the building so we didn't use the car till we checked out. The front desk was extra helpful with a map of the area and suggestions. We will definitely stay here again. The entire apartment-room was clean with a very comfortable mattress. The only problem I found was with a chair that had a broken leg and limited TV channel access, but main channels were available for the basics.

Hotel was very close (walking distance)to most of Vancouver's attractions. We rented a car and never took it out of the parking lot. Very clean throughout although the view to the north overlooked the neighbor's dumpsters. Staff was very cheerful and helpful. Parking, while "tight" (don't bring a Hummer,)was safe and secure. Would definitely recommend to those on a budget.

Having read other reviews about this hotel, I was interested that a two star hotel was rated so higly by other users. We decided to stay here due to several key factors; 1.)It was close where my son lived, who we were visiting, 2.)Great price compared to other hotels in the area, and 3.)Free parking! On arrival, we were told our room was not quite ready, so we drove around Stanley Park for an hour. When we got back our room was still not ready, so we waited in the lobby for another hour. (This is the only reason I did not give this hotel 5 stars). We were told we were given an upgrade...why, I don't know, but the room was fantastic...it was more like a small apartment than a hotel room. The hotel is close enough to either downtown or the river to walk. Parking anywhere downtown really is at a premium, so although it was a tight fit, FREE parking was a big plus. I would defenitely stay here again.

we stayed in this hotel from thursday thru sunday. this was my first trip to vancouver, but i will say this for the hotel: it is amazingly quiet, its on a residential street (but still only a block from some food and shopping) and there aren't many room on each floor so you don't hear a lot of foot traffic noise (which is a typical complaint, at least for me, in hotels). friday and saturday, of course, were a little noisier, but not like other hotels i've stayed in. the room was nice and was clean. the staff was helpful and friendly, especially the cleaning staff). the bed and furniture were comfy. the location seemed pretty central. there is gated, free parking. the breakfast isn't anything special by any means, but they never seem to be. i kinda wish they had a pool/sauna, but everything was great other than that. i would recommend this hotel to others.

We had a little problem finding this hotel, because it doesn't look like a hotel at all. The clerk referred to the rooms as "Travel Apartments" and that is a very accurate description. The "room" we stayed in was actually a 4 room apartment with a livingroom/dining room, full kitchen, a big bedroom and a very nice bathroom. There was even a good size balcony with a couple of chairs and a small table. We were so pleasantly surprised at how comfortable we felt here and wished we had stayed longer. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Upon check-in, the clerk gave us a map of the city and spoke to us for at least ten minutes about where all the best restaurants, bakeries, brewries, sightseeing was located - and all his info was right on. I had occasion to speak to at least three different employees here and they were all as nice and helpful. This hotel is located one block from a main street, where there is all kinds of bustling activity, yet the street it's located on is mainly residential and very quiet. We were within walking distance of just about everything and again, just a block away from public transportation. The continental breakfast was small, but very good, with fresh croissants, bagels, fresh fruit and juice and coffee. They also have a coin operated laundry, with free soap. As this was our second of four destinations, it was really nice to be able to wash our clothes so convienently. We were very impressed with this city and will definitelty be returning and will definitely be staying here again. Top Notch at a great price!

I choose the Sunset Inn & Suites based upon past reviews. I was looking for a larger space within walking distance of downtown Vancouver's major attractions. The hotel definitely met my requirements and exceeded my expectations. The standard suite was very roomy - like being at home. The bathroom could have had a larger counter, however that was the only downside. One night my wife and I walked to the Gas Town district. It seemed a lot closer a thought. Catching the ferry to Granville Island was a breeze with the ferry stop only minutes from the front door. On our next visit to Vancouver, my wife and I will certainly stay at the Sunset Inn & Suites again.

On arrival we were upgraded to a suite room which had a view towards Grandville Island. The room was very clean and was a huge space - great for us as a family with a small baby. The staff were helpful although not the most friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the area. Close walk to great restuarants, all the best areas in Downtown Vancouver, the water, Grandville Island. We didn't use any transport except taxi to and from ferry terminal. Overall a fantastic hotel for the rate we got.

The idea of the hotel is great, very large suite with cooking facilities etc. However, the bedding was less than clean. the bed covers were white and clearly hadn't been changed since the last visitor maybe even a few before that. This was very off putting. they need to pay urgent attention to this.

We had an executive suite. The hotel room was spacious, clean, and seemed to be newly remodeled. Overall the room was in great condition, and even had a small balcony that was pleasant. The only downside to staying here was that the beds were uncomfortable. The king bed in the bedroom was rather soft and seemed to sag a bit in the middle. That wasn't too bad, but the sofa bed in the living room was horrible. The frame was a bit broken, so it was hard to set up. And the mattress was quite possibly the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever had to sleep on. I could feel every spring and the bars in the frame. It was so uncomfortable I moved the mattress to the floor to sleep. Everything else was great, but I wouldn't want to sleep on that horrible bed ever again.

The room was very nice. Good amount of space. Free wi-fi. Huge TV. Hardwood floors. King size bed. Kitchen. I have never seen hardwood floors in a hotel! THe staff was friendly. Parking was secure and there was no extra parking charge. They gave us a late checkout. The only negative is that our room overlooked Davie Street which is a bit of a party street and there was some street noise late. I am a bit of a light sleeper. Apart from this we loved the hotel. I imagine if you get a room that faces Burnaby street noise would not be an issue.

Quickly, The person working the front desk was not helpful...(actually the person working the afternoon we left was in terms of driving directions)...the hotel and its parking structure look old and brokedown...only one elevator worked (they were fixing the other one for a month it looked like) and the ride to the seventh floow was like straight death...cleaning maids come into your room and or knock every five minutes in teh am to clean your room and we had an obnoxious Asian family staying nextdoor that was loud as hell....Also, the hotel was doing some construction work and i could hear hammering through the walls starting at 8 am on a Friday morning....

Our first encounter with hotel staff was one of only two downsides to the entire stay. We arrived at midnight and the desk clerk was away from the desk, leaving us with no entry into the lobby since the doors were locked (pass-key entry only)as a security precaution. We had to bang for several minutes on the doors to get anyone to respond (to which he did, rather sleepily) and then gave us the wrong key to our door. But I had read other positive comments about the place and they all proved true. It turned out to be a wonderful stay and we would definitely return. The room was very clean, comfortable, and sufficiently spacious for my wife and me (we had the standard room). The full kitchen and dining area are a real plus for the money. Also, we had a balcony that looked out to the mountains. Ask for a room on an upper floor for a good view. The cityscape alone is quite something. The other staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. We loved the surrounding neighborhood. It was vibrant and felt very safe although the restaurants are a real mixed bag when it comes to quality. The public transportation is very good throughout the city and everything was quite accessible from our hotel although you can pack a lot more in your stay by renting a car (the city is extremely easy to drive in). I also chose this hotel for its free parking and, while it's a bit tight, it suited me fine and it was safe. It can be directly accessed from the hotel lobby to the rear. The only other downside was the complimentary breakfast. It's limited to just a few cold cereals, bread, bagels, muffins, boxed juice, a bowl of fruit, and coffee. It's sufficient if you are okay with the basics. You take it all back to your room and they provide a free newspaper they slide under the door each morning so, sitting in your own dining area, it's a nice way to have breakfast. All in all, a great city, a very good hotel, and a most enjoyable stay. H
