Klar, das Gebäude ist beeindruckend fasziniert. Das wars aber auch schon. Die Damen an der Rezeption sind weder freundlich noch zuvorkommend, die Abfertigung der zahlreichen Gäste (auch Busreisen) ist nicht anders als im Pauschalurlaub auf Mallorca. Die Gästeschar ist bunt, gehobenes Publikum eher die Ausnahme. In der Bar wurden pausenlos Eishockeyspiele auf zahllosen Bildschirmen gezeigt, stillos. Im Zimmer findet sich ein Tablett mit diversen kostenpflichtigen Artikeln (u.a. Plüschtier), alleine schon das Hochheben vom Tablett wird elektronisch erfasst und kann zur Berechnung führen!!! Insgesamt haben wir uns wie in einem überteuerten und überbuchten Flughafenhotel gefühlt.

Traditionshotel mit viktorianischem Charme, in den dreissiger Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts gebaut. Mitten in Downtown, also ideal für Stadtbesichtigung, Restaurants und Nightlife, alles zu Fuß erreichbar. Frisch renoviert, mit tollem Service.

We always search for vintage hotels for our trips and The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver did not disappoint! Well kept and in a great central location with the new Canada Line to/from the YVR Airport less than 3 blocks away. The bed was very comfortable while the bath soaps/lotions were of high quality. The only thing we would change would be the very thin toilet paper used. Staff were helpful and friendly and there's loads of places closeby for shopping and dining. If you're a dog lover, they even provide two handsome dogs for your walking pleasure!!

The Hotel is clearly a good hotel, with the best location in Vancouver... but it is old. Our room and the whole floor smelled old and musty. The service was not great either, I feel that for the price you pay the people working at the Hotel should be more friendly. All in all, it was a good stay, but not great!

We had a one day stay just off the cruise ship. Actually we could have walked to the hotel. Great location - parking was $33 but that is to be expected in a city. Overall great experience, especially for a quick stay.

Room was nice, ckeck in was VERY slow - six guest stsnding in line only one clerk, location was excellent, parking at $30 is WAY over priced.

We loved the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. We had one of the least expensive rooms but it was clean, well-maintained, and incredibly quiet. We felt like we were staying in a friend's charming old home.

The Hotel Vancouver (as the locals say) was a fantastic hotel right in the middle of the city. It was easy to get anywere from here and if you didn't know where to go or what to do, the staff was great at helping out. The rooms were nice, as was the overall quality of the hotel. The staff was friendly and attentive and I loved the hotel mascots. (2 yellow labs) I got an unbelivable rate when I stayed but I think it is a lot more expensive during the prime tourist season. Overall, a very nice hotel.

This hotel was AWESOME. Not only is it located within 1-2 blocks of a variety of restaurants, it is also next to shopping for all wallet sizes and tastes and a fabulous art museum. The valets were gentle to our lowered sports car and offered great nightclub suggestions for us 25-35-somethings. PS: The hotel also has gargoyles. That just made the place super cool. :)

Best value for a hotel ever. Extra clean with a strategic location downtown. 1 block away from awesome shopping, and across the street to Tim Horton's (Great coffee!). This particular Fairmont property is better than the one on the waterfront (which is several blocks away) because it's closer to the action. The waterfront fairmont is too far to walk to the good shops, but too short of a drive making your car a liability and a nuisance. The Service was outstanding and the restaurants in the hotel were incredible. Book this hotel, you wont regret it I promise. John K

The Fairmont is a beautiful, stylishly old hotel just off of the water in downtown Vancouver. The staff is top-rate and highly accomodating. The room was spacious, clean and the beds ultra-comfortable! Food is great but expensive, however, fabulous restaurants are in easy walking distance.

Gorgeous hotel with lovely rooms. I wish the restaurant or room service was open later, but that's my own problem. If you want to take a walk that isn't about shopping, ask about the hotel dog - they have one you can borrow to take for walks! Great location, wonderfully maintained, and kind staff. I'm hoping to go back soon.

My wife and I had wanted to stay at the Hotel Vancouver for years, so I booked a couple of nights for our tenth anniversary. We were very excited, but to be honest we came away disappointed. The public spaces, especially 900 West, are wonderful. But our room was nothing special - quite large but with very little furniture, making it seem a bit gloomy. It wasn't minimalist and sophisticated, just empty. The service was excellent; what you'd expect of so grand a hotel. But unfortunately, the bedroom is our abiding memory.

I've stayed at the Fairmont in Vancouver BC several times and loved it each time. For location and luxury (and surprisingly reasonable prices at the last minute or during their slow season), it can't be beat. One caution though: they recently changed the rooms so that if you touch or even slightly move anything in the minibar -- including two large bottles of water sitting on TOP of the dresser -- the price of that item will be automatically added to your bill. I moved one of the bottles and had to contact the front desk to let them know that I didn't drink the water, I just shifted the bottle over a bit. They removed the charge from my bill, but it's a ridiculous system that makes the hotel living space feel less welcoming. Automation can be cool, but in this case it's downright cold.

Our stay at the Vancouver Fairmont was absolutely wonderful. The location of the hotel was absolutely perfect for romantic retreat. The Vancouver Fairmont is close to great restaurants, spas and shoppping. For all you pet owners out there: I would highly recommend you stay at the Fairmont. Although the Vancouver Fairmont doesn't have the usual dog friendly ammenities(dog treat, dog bowl, dog blanket)it more than makes up for it by its positive attitudes towards pets.

For the cost, you would think parking or Wi-Fi (internet connection) would be included.. We know many locals, and even they thought the parking charges were excessive.

Loved the hotel. Beautiful. Really enjoyed the Greeting Dogs. Great touch. My only issue was with the late night wait staff in the bar. Acted like we did not exist. Terrible service from them.

Overall we were happy with the hotel and room except for the fact it was a bit noisy on the 3rd floor (we stayed on a Saturday night) and people in a neighbouring room smoked cigarettes all night long which wafted into our room, followed the next morning by a very strong smell of what we assumed to be canabis. Which is not ideal when you have a 6 month old child in the room! We had organized a late check out but decided to check out early due to the smell. When we mentioned it on check out the girl at the desk didn't really seem bothered by it other than to say if the neighbours left a smell in the room they would be charged but did not make any attempt to compensate us (however we didn't push the issue). Aside from this, our stay was pleasant.

I booked a night in Vancouver after a 7-day cruise. I was off the ship by about 8:00am and walked the five blocks from the port to the hotel. I asked if they could hold my bags 'til I could check in but the room was already ready for me. The staff was helpful and unubtrusive. One thing that bothered me is that they didn't have their own shuttle to the airport and thought it was convenient I had to pay for it. Guess though it was standard for all the downtown hotels 'cause we went to everyone on that shuttle.

Stayed two nights on the front and back end of a cruise. Room was not ready on the front end of stay - little disappointing after taking the Empire Builder train from Milwaukee to Seattle and then bus to Vancouver. Was really ready for a shower and nap! Once we got in we were not disappointed. Clean, large, comfortable rooms. Staff was great. Had a drink in the lobby bar while waiting and got good recommendations for dinner/lunch. On the return trip, our ship docked by 9:00 and they were able to get us in our room early by 11:00. Very nice staff again. Only drawback was price - but very fair price for market. You get what you pay for. Would absolutely stay here again.

My first experience with the hotel was rude customer service over the phone. My second experience was rude service at the front desk. As a hotel with a four star rating, at the price they charge, we were expecting to walk into a lovely room. Instead, we had a very small, mediocre room. We were told the rooms had been remodeled, but we could not figure out what had been updated. The bathroom was unbelievably small, and the grouting around the floor was nasty with soil. When you sit on the toilet, you have to raise your right arm to avoid smashing your shoulder. For us this hotel stay was to be the one big splurge we gave ourselves at the end of the trip, but turned out to be the biggest regret. I would recommend anyone thinking twice about staying there. Save the money and stay at a Marriott instead. The room and the service will be more enjoyable.
