Getting to the hotel from the train station was so easy. It was my first visit to Venice and I found the hotel without asking or getting lost. As you get off the vaporetto at the Rialto stop, the hotel is just across the canal. The hotel is located in a very lovely and busy area. The rest next door is perfect for the experience of people watching and the view of the canal, but the food was not great and very expensive. From the hotel to Plaza San Marcos it is a short stroll and very interesting with lots to see on the way. Would recommend but next time in Venice I would stay some where else just as charming but not as expensive.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel after traveling to other parts of Italy. We enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and its old world charm. It is right on the canal next to the Rialto Bridge. It is an easy walk across the bridge to the taxi stop. They also offer a free trip to Murano for a glass blowing demonstration. Perhaps the best part of the hotel is the chairs they have out front that are available to sit and people watch throughout the day. Plus, the restaurants next to the hotel are wonderful. The only downside to this hotel is its layout. Most rooms are away from the only exit. The rooms are centered around a center stairwell and with the lack of insulation in the walls, you hear everyone walking up and down the stairs.

arrived to Hotel after making our way from disembarkation off the Princess cruiseline only to be told by front desk clerk that "they had no rooms" for us or the other couple just ahead of us; he wanted us to "take a room at one of their other Hotels" located in center town (this hotel is right off the Grand canal at the Rialto bridge - a wonderful location!!); the other Hotel had no A/c; we had both prepaid in America and he really did not care; we argued and stood firm that we would not go to another Hotel and we wanted our rooms we had paid for!!! finally he gave the 1st couple a room; but told us he only had a room for our 1st nite that sleep a single but he'd add a bed but it would be VERY small and it was !! we had to crawl over our siutcases and beds to get to the bathroom; but the next day we did get a larger room as he'd promised! I LOVED the location; it was close to catch the valperrto water taxis; close to great foods, lots of night life and shopping; we even walked to and from St. mark's square by just following the crowds of people and it was only about 10 mins from our hotel; the Hotel is older but A/c is good, brkfst was good, and front desk was good to have, and spoke english!

All the hotels I've looked at in Venice were very expensive and this one came up inexpensive. For the price the hotel was great. The only issue is that the walls are thin so you can hear people at night if they are loud, but I could always put ear plugs in! The location couldn't be beat! A++++

Very friendly and helpful staff. They took the time to talk to us about our cultural differences which made us much more comfortable interacting with the local people during our stay. The Staff took great care of us. Only downside - I don't think the Hotel Management gets along very well with the Restaurants on either side, which is understandable due to the excessive early morning noise made by the restaurants.

lovely location, you walk out the front door and the Rialto bridge is just to your left. I stayed in Venice during the weekend of the Festa del Redentore and the helpful concierge gave me lots of information about the best place to see the fireworks (go to Lido, San Marco Square is way too crowded!) This was a comfortable and charming hotel - and by charming I mean that the room was quite small for the rate I paid, but that's what you get when you book a room for one of the biggest festivals in town. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends & stay here again.

Our holiday to Venice was greatly complimented by our hotel, with its wonderful Venetian feel and impressive hospitality. We arrived and had to wait half an hour, as there was a problem with getting our room ready, however, we were given a larger room, which was pleasing! There are no lifts in the hotel but the hotel staff will take your bags. The concierge was so helpful, he directed us to a great student bar area (around Accademia area) and also arranged for us to go to Murano (where all the glass factories are) - for free! I'm not sure if the way back was free because we bought something, but we took the waterbus back right around the Laguna. The bathroom was very clean and comfortable. There was plenty of room to spread out, we also appreciated the safe and the tv, in the room. The breakfast room was cosy, with cooked and continental food. For us, a great features is its location. It is on the grand canal, which means from Piazza le Roma (bus station), you can just hop on the waterbus and in a short while you're there. It is on the other side of the beautiful Rialto Bridge - a little mission in itself with the luggage. Piazza San Marco is a lot closer than it looks on the map, so you must walk everywhere to see the beauty of Venice! (And the Marconi is a perfect starting place).

the best thing this hotel has going for it is its location, you are very central to see all of venice. we did not have much dealing with the staff, they push a free taxi to the glass factory but they do not tell you that you will have to pay for the taxi back and while you are there they put pressure on you to buy someting, the hotel was very clean and the breakfast was very good, plenty of food and a good selection. all in all a good place to see venice from.

They also gave us great advise to maximize our only one full day in Venice!!.

When we checked in, the hotel staff knew we had booked our stay with hotels.com and paid significantly less than other patrons. They took us to our room which was one of only two rooms that had a different entrance than the main hotel. The other rooms in the hotel looked very nice, although we were not allowed to stay in one. The hotel staff however was great for recommending different places and experiences around Venice and even had a complimentary boat ride to Murano.

This hotel is centrally located -- within easy walking distance of everywhere in Venice. Plus one quick trip over a bridge from the water taxi stop. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is fine - consistant with a very old building. As for food, though tempting, do not eat at the restaurants right outside the hotel located on the Grand Canal. Way overpriced, mediocre food. The hotel staff warned us but we got thought we would try. Instead, go around the corner to trattoria -- great food, good prices.

Great location - right on the Grand Canal, overlooking the Rialto Bridge, however it doesn't mean your room will. Be prepared to carry your luggage over the steps of the Rialto bridge and in the hotel (no elevator), although the hotel staff will help you. Watch out for the restaurants downstairs. They will ask you to come in. Looks are deceiving. Because of the location they look romantic but the food is not great. Trattoria Alla Madonna - restaurant around the corner from the hotel is worth checking out!

The Marconi hotel is located in an excellent position adjacent to to the Rialto Bridge and is therefore very easy to find (a bonus not to be underestimated in Venice). The hotel initially looks a bit 'shabby' compared to hotels in more modern locations, however if one considers its setting, then it is totally in keeping with the general atmosphere of this wonderful city. Our room was very 'venitian olde worlde', but with a modern (small) bathroom. The room was cleaned every day. The Staff were always polite and helpful, and the continental breakfast was excellent. I would definitely go back.
