Also keine Premiumqualität. Aber der Service ist sehr gut, das Personal nett und die Lage top.

Bewertet von Edward aus Fairfax am Sep 7, 2009
This is a budget hotel in NYC. Concerns: No lobby to speak of. Tired building. Small room, tight for a couple, bed against the wall so you have to get out of bed at the foot of the bed (or climb over your mate), blank walls in our room, a loud window air conditioner, a dark, small bathroom and worst, the room had a disagreeable odor, perhaps from a prior smoker (not allowed) or a cleaning agent. Positives: A good, responsive staff, a flat screen TV, little amenities in the room and bath, a good shower, a comfortable bed and quality towels. Best: The location for the price. So would we recommend this hotel? Only to some people. This hotel is not for everyone. To those who want this great locale but also want their comforts, I'd say there are better choices.

Bewertet von Leon aus Dallas am Aug 12, 2009
This was my first trip to New York City. I am a college student that needed a nice trip to go on alone for spring break. I knew that, being a "creature of comfort", I needed a hotel that didn't have an excess of amenities that would keep me inside each day for longer than necessary. However, it still needed to be very comfortable to return to after a long day of walking around. Park 79 gave me just what I needed: a standard, cozy room (maybe a tad "small" to some people) with a very comfortable bed, and a nice, clean bathroom. I have a "thing" about bathrooms that aren't mine, so it was just what I needed. There were options to choose a room with a shared bathroom on the floor, but I just booked a room with a private one, and was not disappointed. I also enjoyed the free Wi-Fi Internet access. The staff was always friendly and willing to help with advice on where I needed to go while in NYC. I was always greeted, going out and coming in, with a smile or a "hello" (which I surprisingly don't get, everywhere I stay). What I loved most about the hotel was the location! Being less than a block away from Central Park made for enjoyable, scenic early morning walks to get the mind and body in sync. There were also a few subway stations nearby, which basically made all of Manhattan (Midtown, Times Square, etc) accessible within minutes by train. I'm a quiet person, so I appreciated being close to all the sights and sounds, without being right in the middle of them all the time. I ended up just wondering around by foot most of my trip, but still kept a subway metro card handy with a few bucks on it, when needed. I am already anticipating a return to NYC soon, and Park 79 is on my short list of hotels where I will consider staying. Again, not the most ideal hotel for larger families (4+), but great for single travelers or couples needing a nice and affordable place to stay.

I went to the hotel alone, and as a guy I think it was definately a great place to stay. I stayed in a room with a community bathroom, but it didn't matter much, no one was in them when I need to use it. Also, there are two on the floor. I love the location of the hotel and that is the main reason I stay there, and the cost is one of the best in the city.

We expected a very small room and weren't sure if we had a private bath from the hotels.com email confirmation. But, the actual receipt assured us that we did, so we went ahead thinking we might have to fight for one. But, they upgraded us to a suite and enjoyed a small but comfortable, room with two rooms. It was very nice. We were very happy with it all. The elevator was tiny.

The hotel is located on a quiet street, a short walk from many shops and restaurants. It's far enough off the beaten path that it feels like you're with the locals, but it's close enough to the subway line and the Park that you can easily enjoy the best of the city. I recommend it for a short stay in the city - though maybe not for too long as the room was a bit cramped.

There was a mix up on rooms when we first arrived - we were put in a double room instead of a twin room. It took two nights to sort out but eventually we were in the right room by the 3rd night. The shared bathrooms weren't really a problem as they were always available. More importantly the rooms were clean, towels and sheets changed daily. I was travelling with a laptop, and left money lying around the room on occasions - pleased to report not a dime went missing. Couldn't fault the location of the hotel - only one block from Central Park, and a 20 minute walk to Times Square. There is also a great selection of restaurants and deli's to choose from for breakfast.

Yes, it was small, but it was a great little room. It was at least 50-80 dollars less than other "budget" rooms for the same night, so I was a little nervous about what we were getting into, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was nice, the room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Again, it was small, so a larger person would not be comforable - the toilet was in a bit of a tight spot and the shower was just a smallish stand up stall, but I was very happy and would stay here again anytime. I had one of the first floor rooms.

we made reservations 3 months in advance for a double w/ euro shared bath. when we arrived we were told they "upgraded us" to a private bath. the room was cut up and aprox 7ft.x 11ft.with the bed against the wall. the bath was again cut up and the toilet area was 24 inches wide and a person could get on the toilet by backing into it and again walking foreward in order to clean. when you leaned over for the sink you had to open the door behind you for enough roomto bend over... and finally the shower door could only open half way before hitting the sink and therefore you stepped in sideways. addionally it was all done, floor, walls to ceiling, in black charcoal tiles making appear like a small spooky cave. when we asked for a different room the clerk kept repeating "we gave you an upgrade" in a sort of arrogant fashion. the next day we were finally given a room with shared bath and it is all old with the double bed against the wall and no pictues on the walls. old furniture. sort of creepy. i will say the location is great., lots of shops and near metro and aprox the center of central park. felt safe and easy to get around. new york!!!

She had a great time and loved the hotel with the wonderful, mirrored elevator (thought I was in Paris!)and the "cozy" room. Location perfect for restaurants and museums within walking distance. Would return with gal pals, sister and grandkids, but my husband would find the bathroom just a bit too small to turn around in! All in all, a really nice place to spend a couple of days seeing the sights. Quiet, good neighborhood, great value for my money.

We plan to utilize Park 79 henceforth when we visit our son and his family. Clean, upgraded, convenient location, friendly staff, fair price, good coffee in the lobby every morning. Of course, the rooms are small - I calculated 138 square feet, but who cares, you're in your room only to sleep and "play." My only complaint is the doors could be sealed better to help keep hallway voice noise to a minimum.

This hotel was great! My room was extremely small though, but it was only for one person so who cares? I didn't spend much time in my room. I opted for the private bath and that was small too, but very clean! I did peek into another room and it looked a bit bigger than mine so I'm sure some of the other rooms were probably bigger than mine. The bed was very comfortable and you can't beat the location and the price. Two blocks away from central park and 2 subway lines. This hotel definitely met my needs. There are also great restaurants nearby, including Sarabeth's which is right around the corner on Amsterdam. My only one caution about this hotel is that there is no carpet on the hallway floors so you can hear everyone dragging their suitcases down the hall and that can be kind of annoying. My room was right next to the lobby so I heard all the noise from the lobby and the hallway. My first night was fairly quiet though and I slept great. But my second night I didn't sleep as well because of all the noise. Also, there were always random suitcases sitting outside in the hallway no matter what time I came in. I'm not sure why they were there but it was very strange and looked very sloppy. Other than that it was a great stay. I'd definitely stay there again.

If you are looking for a nice room to stay in for a trip to NYC, this is definitely a place to consider. Room was a decent size with an extremely comfortable bed with nice sheets and down bedding. Only minor issue was that the bathroom was separated, but it remained pretty clean except for the occasional lack of hand towels to dry your hands after washing (there is a sink in the room, though, so you can wash your hands there). Staff was very accommodating and made several wonderful recommendations. We also had an issue with the hair-dryer, called down and there was someone up to fix it with in a minute; very helpful.
