WOW !!! What a small room. Barely enough room for bed and bags

Nothing fancy, but a very nice, comfortable, conveinient room - Close to Penn Station and some great little places to eat. A definite bargain!!

This hotel has without a doubt the worst quality-to-value ratio I've ever encountered. We arrived on a hot day in June. The hotel lobby was stifling; the air conditioner in our room (an in-wall, above-the-bed affair) was very loud and entirely inadequate. The room smelled awful. The walls were paper thin. The hotel has no elevator, and we had to drag our luggage up the narrow staircase -- and down, when we canceled and left within the hour. The cost for all of this was astonishingly high. For just slightly more money, we re-booked in a nice boutique hotel with many more amenities. My guess is that the hotel can afford to charge the outlandish prices it charged because it caters to many young people traveling from abroad who can take advantage of the weak dollar and are willing to pile en masse into its funky rooms. More power to it -- but anyone who wants something above the most basic accommodations or a room that's clean and private should look elsewhere.

Location was great, so close to Madison Square Gardens. Hotel was nice and personnel were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and adequate in size though small. Lots of street noise. Cost was very high.

This hotel is good, rooms are clean and nice. However, there's no elevator, so, if you have a lot of baggage, you should think about stay here.

Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the uncleanliness of the rooms did not make up for it. It was very loud in the rooms and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. I will give them credit for having surprisingly large and clean shared bathrooms, which is always a concern when visiting this type of property.

Overall: I got the room looking and smelling better than in some three times more expensive hotels. Pros: Renovated inside; nice painted inside; clean nice room (I had one with bath); no smell in the room; helpful staff; felt safe; Internet; two minutes walking from Penn subway station; 15 minutes walking from Times Square. Contra: very cheap look outside.

Bad location, tiny room, not worth the money. I've stayed at much better hotels with shared bathrooms. The bathroom on our floor didn't even have a towel rack. The front desk was not very friendly. Being a couple of blocks from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden is not a plus, especially since our room faced 8th Ave. There was a huge gap in the window with the AC so we heard street noises all night. I could install an AC better. This was more of a hostel and not a hotel, and I'm betting that some hostels are better. It sucked and I'll never stay there again nor recommend it.

Very satisfied with the hotel. When we checked in, because of availability, we were upgraded to an apartment suite at no extra charge. The rooms were clean and quaint. We will definitely stay here next year!

For the desperate only

I stayed in the Superior room (with a private bath) overnight from Friday 6/8 to Saturday 6/9. I took my younger sister to the city to see a show and some shopping for her 16th birthday so it was just she and I in the room. It was pretty much what I expected for a relatively cheap room in NYC. It wasn't a very large room, but considering all we really were looking for was a place to put our heads for the night it worked out well. The front desk attendant was very nice and helpful when we checked in. He gave us a street map and helped us map out the best places to eat and shop that were nearby and told us what areas to try to avoid. And for check out they held our bags for us while we shopped the day away. For those of you that check in bags make sure to check the name they put on the tag on your bags, they put the wrong name on mine but luckily I was the one who went around to physically claim it. My only real problem was something they really have no control over which people considering this hotel should be aware of. The hotel rooms have EXTREMELY thin walls. My sister and I could clearly hear every word of every conversation the couple in the room next us had as though they were standing directly in front of us. So I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone who plans on either trying to sleep late or go to bed early because the place is constantly hopping. But overall it did exactly what we needed, gave us a place to sleep for the night.

I visited in May 2007. The room was very clean and pleasant with nice furniture. The bathroom was modern with new plumbing fixtures. There is no elevator and one needs to walk up a flight of stairs to reach the front desk. The wireless internet worked OK. The only problem was my room faced 8th Ave. and it was very noisey all night long. So I would not recommend this hotel if your faces the main street.

Air conditioner emitted black soot-like particles onto the bed.

this hotel was quite expensive for what i got, the rooms dont even have a bathroom; you have to share bathroom with everyone in the hotel. thats nasty! the room its so small, you cant even walk in it. You hear every single noise from the hallway, outside, and other rooms. Horrible experience.

It was nothing that I expected, but it served its purpose. 'Nuff said.

For a hotel in New York. This is an excellent value. However, you do get what you pay for. Our room was really loud (faced 8th ave), and the blinds did not close all of the day. Thankfully we had eye masks and ear plugs. Also, the bed was super hard. It was a good thing we were only there for one night, and only were there for a new hours. I would stay there again for the value, but would explore a beter room

Cheap for New York, and it's very easy to see why, but excellent central location. Little things would help (fitted sheets that don't come off the mattress, soap in the bathrooms, etc.). They gave me plenty of clean towels though, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a "fleabag with a certain charm".

Det var väldigt litet och trångt och hade delat badrum. Läget var riktigt bra, praktiskt nära Penn station. Väljer nog ett dyrare och bekvämare hotell nästa gång, men jag tycker man fick vad man betalade för.

Nous étions dans une des chambres avec salle de bain privée. Elles sont vraiment très très spacieuses, ce qui est un gros avantage à NY. Quartier résidentiel pas très animé, mais à 20 minutes à pied de Times Square, 10 minues de l'Empire State Builing et 2 minutes de la sation de métro Pen. Serviettes changée tous les jours et lit refait. Assez mauvais isolation phonique avec la rue, mais nous avons passé un très agréable moment dans cet hôtel tout à fait satisfaisant.
