Pacific Sands Motel - Santa Monica

If your looking for modern luxary, forget it, BUT! 1950's, this is it. Great price at even a greater location. Rooms were very clean with a hodge podge of old mix and match furniture and 2 prong outlets. Open the drawers to the scent of a old vacant century home. Literaly within very short walking distance of the best Santa Monica has to offer, 3rd-4th st promenade, pier and easy access to the Blvd. Can see and here the ocean. NO AC but, as long as it's in the 70's, not a big deal at all with the beautiful Pacific breeze. I will stay here everytime.

Good location but the whole building is run down. If I was incredibly drunk and just needed a place to crash it would have been fine. The rooms need some serious attention, severely out of date. The staff wasn't thew most courteous in the world either

This hotel was right on the beach, close to the Santa Monica Promenade, close to the highway, but in poor condition. It was very outdated with bad lighting, an awkward set up, and old everything. For the cheap price, you do get what you pay for.

This hotel is dated, but clean. The location of the hotel is excellent and it is the best hotel/motel value in the area. I went for one night and it was perfect. Good price, great location.

This Motel is dated. However, it was clean and in a great location and price.

This hotel is very outdated. However it is across the street from the beach and the pier. it is also 3 blocks from the shopping. We did not have to spend any money on a cab to get anywhere and were free to stumble back to the hotel. It could use a makeover but it was very clean. I would stay here again.

The room was clean. It was very run down and out-dated. It looked like the owners were not interested in making any improvements. The pool was a mess when we arrived, but had been cleaned by the next afternoon. Excellent location, right in the thick of things. Within walking distance of shopping, restaurants & entertainment and has city bus service available within a block. I did not like the fact that we were charged to park at the motel, in addition to paying for the room.

Room was exactly what I expected from the reviews and for the price. It's not what your looking for if you want to stay at a luxury hotel, but great for the price if you're young and want to go out and see Santa Monica's night life.

The motel is located in the perfect place on Ocean Avenue across from the Santa Monica Pier which is why I chose it and was on a tight budget. I saw the price and knew I was taking a chance . . . it was a flea bag in all ways. Scary in a creepy way. I could tell the maid service does the minimum work. Bedding old and soiled, but clean sheets. During the night there was a horrible fight in another room and I call 911 !! One of the women was on her cell phone screaming and cursing till 4 a.m., it's that kind of place. NOT a place to feel safe or comfortable. Just a "crash" pad kind of deal. Management was nice. Ugh, not a good place BUT if you have to economize, then ....

Rooms smelled, it was noisy. We paid to much per night and was very disappointed. We will never stay there again and will not recommend it to anyone.

Not bad, room was clean... OLD and MOTELish... Kinda mad I had to pay 7$ a day to park... but it is right on the beach... Loud at night, have to keep windows open because no AC. It was fun, great pictures and Snta Monica is great. Management needs to keep the high school kids quieter... but so what? its SO CAL

Mediocre. Rooms are filled with that smell of old, humid, run-down furniture. Creepy decoration. People at the receptions are unfriendly, awkward, not helpful.

The location is great because the motel is directly on the beach. The rooms and the beds are not very huge but for the money it's ok. The motel is old but clean. For parking you have to pay 7 $ per day! But the motel has WiFi and this is free.

The location of this motel is great. the guy in the main office didn't seem to really care or want to be there. He didn't give off as though he wanted to help. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything thats going on in the other rooms....and i mean everything. the door lock didnt make me feel safe at all. and you pay extra for parking even if you stay at the motel... when it came to being clean i cant say it was the best either. But location is excellent, you are across from the pear all the resteronts in the area are great and the Promenade is walking distance. its an ok place for a one or two night stay but longer than that i'd put a little more money down and stay at a hotel down the street

The location of this hotel is great. Santa Monica is beautiful and this place is on the main street with the beach on the other side and the pier right there. My boys (18 and 23 and perhaps spoiled)and I stayed there. They like fancier places but I can sleep anywhere. The price is great when you compare nearby locations. This is an old beat up place and not a place to "hang out" but it provides access to Santa Monica that can't be beat.

NO ac, Everything is out dated, Uncomfortable beds, not so great door locks, and you have to pay extra to park each night at a lot far away.

Old needs improvements but great location

wonderful location right across the road from the pier - pleasant service - but this is an old building just waiting to be torn down

the pacific sands has a great location but is so shabby and out of date that we decided not to stay. Perhaps we should have known based on the price. If the owners would do a major renovation it could be wonderful given the location, but until then, I'd stay away.

ROOM WAS CLEAN AND BEDS GOOD. CENTRAL TO LOTS OF BEACH ATTRACTIONS AND TOURIST SPOTS..NEAR TO COFFEE SHOPS AND RESTRAUANTS, MOVIE THEATRES, SHOPPINGM THE BEACH!!!!! THIS HOTEL IS FOR YOUNG OR MATURE ADULT(S) THAT WANT A PLACE TO STAY WHERE DRIVING IS MINIMAL AND ONE'S SHOES ARE MADE FOR WALKING. PARKING OK...

Trying to check in was a hassle that night. They lost one of my reservations and tried to get away with it by giving me two rooms and a half. I'm sorry but I wanted six doubles not 4 doubles and a twin.

Parking was inconvenient since we had to park in a back lot some 100 yards from our room No coffee maker or tea in room. Bath towels about the size of hand towels, Not a lot for the money but our fault because we didn't read the reviews before we reserved the room.

Pacific Sands is on Ocean Avenue, across the street from the Palisades Park, walking distance to the pier and the beach, or the other way, to the 3rd Street Promenade. Be fair warned, this is NOT a luxury hotel. It is clean, has all the basics, and the front desk does answer the phone. The staff are polite, though I would never acuse them of being overly friendly. The hotel has free wi-fi but make sure you ask them at check in. I went to my room, got ready for bed, and called them for instructions, and they told me I had to come back to the front desk. So, I had to get dressed again and walk downstairs for them to hand me a piece of paper with a username on it. I asked the front desk, "couldn't you just have read this number to me over the phone?" And he replied, "no." As I said, no prize for overly friendly here. One of the interesting points, you can sign up here for various different city tours or amusement parks tours. Parking is down the alley from the motel, the walk is not far but some might be afraid to walk down a dark alley at night, even though it's only 100 feet away.

The things I liked: - the good position in Santa Monica, very close to the pier, main street and 3.rd street. - the very good public transportation service to downtown LA, LAX, Venice etc. - the old fashioned building and rooms. - the good heating in the room (very important in winter also in LA). I was scared because of the very poor acustic insulation of the room but I was lucky and the neighbors were not too noisy.

all you will get is a good location here. needs paint, curtains, this place is still in the early fifties, except for the wi-fi and tv's.

the hotel had no air conditioning or fans in the room-it was extremely hot-the "concierge" told us to open the window therefore leaving our family vulnerable to no gooders entering our room thru the window!@!!!!!!!!
