Very friendly and helpful receptionist, a bottle of bubbly was waiting for us when i emailed ahead to say it was my husbands birthday. Excellent room (deluxe), although paying for the view wasnt worth it as it was a view of walls of the park, rather than the park and I doubt this would change anywhere in the hotel. The maid service was lovely and regular and the black out curtains and double glazing made it perfect for siestas. didnt eat there as 50 euros for a starter was prohibitive in our opinion! Would recommend. 10 minute walk to the spanish steps

went there for our honeymoon. Staff rude and unfriendly. Not one member of staff congratulated us. The room was tiny not enough room to swing a cat. This hotel is marketed as a 5 star but you can rely on this when i say it is only deserving of a 3 star rating, The real 5 star is around the corner the eden which we discovered albeit too late. The overall feeling is one of superior staff who clearly believe they are more important than their customers forgetting that it is the clients who pay their wages. Will never ever ever ever return to this disaster of a 3 star hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed at the Splendide Royal for 3 days and very much enjoyed it. The hotel is quite nice, with a classic feel and decoration and v clean. It was quite hot in Rome so air conditioning was key - it was a huge relief to come into our cool room after walking around in the heat all day. We had a junior suite and while the room was nice, it sure felt a bit cramped, but as a US traveler we are spoiled and this is Rome after all. The only other complaint was the bed, which was a bit hard (was two beds put together). Location was excellent. Service was good, but this is a 5 star hotel and I didnt think service was quite 5 star. This was a v good stay but I'm still looking for that awesome 5 star experience in Rome . . .

Beautiful hotel in a very central location. We were able to walk safely to shops restaurants and sights. Michelan star restaurant expensive but the view of Rome at night was spectacular. We stayed at "Spendide Royal" at the beginning of our trip and enjoyed our stay so much we booked it again on our return from the Amalfi Coast. My only disappointment was not having breakfast but at €35 was too pricey ( but I am sure it would have been amazing) Would definitely return and recommend area. Full of 5 star hotels! Only problem no ironing allowed in room, very hard when living out of suitcase, but all Italian hotels visited were similar.

This is a great hotel. I know it is a bit more expensive than some others but it is truly worth it. The decor is very 'old world' like a Roman Palace and I traveled with my Mom who is over 60 and she adored it. The location is fantastic, 3 minute walk from Via Veneto, 10 mins to Trevi Fountain etc. Rooms huge, bathrooms same and so well kept. Hotel about 10 mins in taxi from Termini, do not pay more than 12 euro from there. We will be going back !!

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. We did not get what we paid for. We paid for a city view and there was only a view of a tree. They also advertise a complimentary shuttle which is non-existent. We requested a wake-up call every day and got nothing. I asked for an alarm clock and they didn't have one. The bed was like sleeping on concrete it was so hard. We were also supposed to have a full breakfast buffet, but they only had it on the weekend. I will never stay at any hotel associated with this group of hotels.

Small enough for that boutique feel but with all the mod cons you would expect. Breakfast overlooking the city is a nice feature. The Mirabelle restaurant for dinner on the top floor has fabulous views, great food and wine but nearly Euros 200 per person for 3 courses with wine. Our deluxe room was huge, beautifully decorated, good aircon/heating and well soundproofed from the busy road. Good location for sightseeing with a 10 minute walk to the underground at Spagna or Baberini. Lots of good restaurants & cafes nearby. Hotel has no pool or spa. Need to have room fourth floor or above to see over the trees of the Villa Borghese. Very friendly and helpful staff all spoke English. Would definitely go back but only when sterling recovers, Rome is generally very expensive.

This hotel was wonderful!! The breakfast that was included wasnot only excellent, but the room where it's located is charming, with a magnificent view of Rome including St. Peter's. You couldn't ask for more in food, service, and excellent cappacino's!!! I loved all of the people who worked here. I had read in other reviews on hotels.com complaints about the hard pillows or beds and I have only this to say: I have a really bad back, and after walking all over Rome for hours on end, coming back to the hotel in pain, every night I slept on that "hard bed" and every morning my back was better. So, there is a lot to be said for harder beds. I slept great, as the hotel is extremely quiet; it was the perfect break one needed from noisy Rome. Very close to the Spanish Steps, very close to the Galleria Borghese (we walked to it our first morning there), and a fairly inexpensive taxi ride to the Forum, Vatican, etc. We were glad we stayed here because the surroundings are beautiful, not crowded and dirty. We walked to the Trevi fountain every night, and if by 11:00pm, I didn't want to walk back, for 6 Euros, we were back at our hotel quickly. In terms of staff, I have never been at a hotel that had better staff. This truly is my favorite hotel: for staff, for breakfast, for location, and for price!!! Thank you Hotels.com for finding it for us!!

A beautiful hotel with exceptionally helpful staff, nothing was to much trouble for them. My friends luggage was left at the departure airport and the hotel took over arrangements, it arrived safely at the hotel the following day. The only down side is the use of the hotel terrace. This can only be used by dinners, so there is no where to sit if you just want a drink. the hotel suggested we sat in the resturant reception but that was what it looked and felt like. This is the only restaurant on the hotel and it is very very expensive.

The hotel is great in terms location but the service is very lacking for a 4-5 star hotel. I ordered room service and was told it will take 30 mins. After 1 and half hour later the food comes and it was served cold. The bathroom was very small and the tub did not drain at all. Not worth the money but the location was good to all the sites in Rome.

This is a lovely hotel, and very charming. The location is superb and the staff were wonderful. Breakfast on the terrace is the perfect way to start your day in Rome. My only complaint...Two words...MINI BAR. Who on earth pays that much for mini bar items and why? And the room service menu was the same. If you ordered a club sandwich from the room service menu and took a G&T from the mini bar, it would set you back over 45 euro's! Each! :-O

We were on a "once in a lifetime" trip through Europe & made the decision to spend the extra money for a 5-star hotel while in Rome. The Splendide Royal was a bitter disappointment on many levels. The hotel was extremely difficult to find as it sits at the end of an obscure and narrow one way street which incidentally were lined with "Gentlemen's Clubs". Our intention was to drop off the rental car after we checked in, but the doorman said he had no knowledge of the nearby Hertz drop off location so we were forced to pay a 42 Euro overnight parking fee. The next morning we discovered via the concierge that the drop off was just steps away from the hotel. We arrived around 10:30 PM exhausted & hungry and wanted to throw ouselves in bed and order room service, but the front desk told us room service was closed and there would be no food until breakfast. Once in the room, our bed was so hard that my hips were bruised by morning and instead of the quiet room on an upper floor that we requested, we were stuck on the 2nd floor facing the a/c units and back staircases of a neighboring building. Also, our room was next to the maid's chambers so they started slamming doors around 6:30 in the morning. The blanket on the bed was thin and worn and the pillows were hard, flat, overused foam. We took our list of concerns to the front desk manager the next day and asked to change rooms with a softer bed, a better view, and get down pillows and a down duvet. We were told that there were no more rooms available & they didn't have down comforters, but they might have some down pillows. We were so disappointed with the inadequacies of the hotel that we just wanted to check out and get a refund of the unused days. After spending most of our day in the room trying to resolve these issues, we were finally shown another room that was smaller and directly over the noisy hotel entrance on a busy street, but the bed had down duvet on it. Eventually, we stayed in our original room
