This was my second stay at The Adante. On both trips, I found the hotel to be more than adequate for my purpose--reasonably priced, located close to Union Square, quiet, clean, friendly, close to public transportation, and close to eating places. I think it's a great value for the money.

The hotel has an excellent location and it is surprisingly inexpensive. My room was quiet, clean, and surprisingly spacious. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The cleaning staff had trouble keeping the right number of towels, but the front desk gave me some when the cleaning staff failed to. Internet service was intermittant in my room and even at the computer in the lobby. The wireless network kept going up and down. The front desk staff had no access to the router(s) and could not reboot them. They also did not know the password for the lobby computer so when it rebooted they could not log on until business hours. Overall, I recommend it and I'd go back.

We went to San Francisco to run in the marathon. We thought we would find a less expensive place to stay since the trip was already costing us so much. We found Adante Hotel. What a mistake. I'm not normally the complaining type of person, but this place was disgusting. I understand this is an old place but there is no excuse for some stuff. After the first night we woke up in the morning to find that we had bites on our faces, back, chest, arms and legs. We look around to see if we could find any bugs in the room and we didn't have to look far. All over the room and bathroom, BED BUGS we literally crawling up the walls. I have never seen anything more disgusting. Bed bugs are easy to control.....with proper cleaning. Alright bugs aside, this hotel has very low water pressure and very soft water. I can't stand extra soft water. This may not matter to you but it make it hard for me to shower. My next complaint is definitely the location. I wasn't expecting the cheaper hotels to be right in the middle of the action, but this is in one of the worst areas in all of San Francisco. You honestly have to walk past the local soup kitchen to get to the local attractions. This area is very popular for homeless people, and they are relentless about following you and begging you for money. Lastly, since this is the cheapest place around, it is very popular with the young crowd looking to come in and get as drunk as possible. These drunkers kept us up until 5am with their yelling and arguing, probable due to the paper-thin walls. Alright that's enough. If you are desperate and really don't care about anything, stay here.

Just an old hotel. Price was right and the location was good. Small room. Limited tv coverage. It was exactly what I expected. Restaurant was closed. Dont know why. If you are going to spend most of your time out then there is no reason to buy a fancy hotel room. Beds were a little soft and old. Murals in rooms were pretty cool. This is the kinda place that if the walls could talk..... I am sure that at some point in the history of the place it was a flop house. a lot more character that a Holiday Inn. I will stay again.

I liked the hotel. Here are a few things to know: 1. It's not that close to things. Be prepared to walk. You'll need to take the BART or MUNI or taxi to many areas. Union Square is about 10 minutes away. 2. Bring a Ethernet cord if you want in-room access. There is wireless downstairs, but I had trouble accessing it. The hotel has them for rent for $5 per stay.

This hotel is about what I expected for the budget we were on. I would stay there again, it was definitely clean and luckily I took the advice of other reviews and requested a room not facing the street so it was a nice quiet stay. There's something charming about old hotels, and the tacky murals somewhat added to this charm. Bathrooms are nice and big and beds were comfy. The room itself is small, like the other reviews said, but good enough for a place to sleep. The only thing really lacking was the service. The guy at the front desk wasn't knowledgable about the hotel ("I think the Ice dispenser is on the 3rd and 5th floor" when it's actually the 3rd and sixth floor) and not helpful at all. I asked for a tray to bring food up to my room and he told me there was one in my room instead of getting me one! Luckily a very hardworking housekeeper immediately got one for me.

The hotel is close to Union Square (~4 blocks) and less than a 15 minute walk to Powell BART, light rail (MUNI), and bus stations. I think if it's closer it'd have been better but for the price I think it's already quite convenient. A number of fast food places and restaurants are near nearby. The hotel and furnitures in the room are not very 'new' per se but clean and tidy. Bath room is newly renovated in my unit. Internet is provided in room but you need to bring your own cable otherwise you can rent for $5 at the desk. Wireless is accessible in the front lobby area only. Overall, I would recommend the hotel for who want a decent and fairly convenient place without spending a lot of money.

The Adante Hotel is a great little place nestled in the middle of SF's Theater and Shopping district. You are literally across the street from two great theaters (the Currin and ACT). Two blocks from Union Square and the beginning of the Cable Car lines. Additionally great eateries abound within a 5 block radius (David’s, Max’s Opera Cafe’, and Tommy’s Joint). The hotel is small, unpretentious and very very clean. Breakfast is free though unremarkable. All in all a great value for the money.

I was really only looking for a clean bed to sleep in that was close to the sights that we wanted to see, so I wasn't put off by the 'funkiness' of an old hotel (not even the bad kitschy paint jobs in every room). The Adante Hotel could have been all right for my purposes, but the list of annoying little things just sort of piled up so that it wasn't the 'bargain' that it seemed to be when I booked the room. First of all, if you drive here like we did, you'll be paying a premium to have your car valet parked (for us, each night of parking cost half as much as our room rate!). It also takes a half an hour for your car to arrive each time you need it. Location is a bit too close to the 'Tenderloin District' (porn shops, pimps and drug dealers) for a family vacation. The wireless internet in the lobby didn't work on our computer. The room was relatively clean - though the floor was sticky in spots... The bed was clean enough but very saggy (my back was sore every day), and only had a sheet on top of a mattress, no mattress pad. Because this is a 'vintage' hotel, it means that a lot of things simply don't work. The elevator wasn't working for 2 of the 3 days we stayed here (we were on the 4th floor, it was fine if you're young and strong like us, but would have been impossible otherwise). Our toilet was slow the whole time, and then clogged completely on the third night. When I called down to ask the front desk for assistance THEY TOLD ME TO COME DOWNSTAIRS AND GET A PLUNGER! I wonder if they always have their guests perform the routine maintenance of their hotel for them?!? Thankfully this was on our last night in town and I was happy to move on in the morning.

The hotel was in a very centralized location. A little close to the ghetto, but super convenient to all parts of San Francisco. The valet parking company they used is super shady. They scratched the back bumper and side of my car and stole $6 in cash that I had put in one of the compartments, which means they went through my car. Don't leave ANYTHING of any value whatsoever in your car (even a mere $6). The front desk staff could have been a bit friendlier, but I think the location of the hotel made it worth the stay.

1. I called before my arrival to make sure where I can leave my car while I was checking in. I was told to leave it in front of the hotel and they would call the valet service. Once I got there, the receptionist said "drop it off yourself. It's not far" I said I was told there is valet service when I called half our ago. And he was very reluctant to call. I am not familiar with San Francisco and driving around those one-way streets was not comfortable with me. He was really rude about it. 2. I was never told there would be a room deposit while I was checking in. The receptionist asked to verify the card I paid with and give him a positive ID and then swiped the card without even letting me know it was for a charge!!!! 3. A different receptionist gave me directions for an attraction and they were WRONG! 4. The day of the checkout, the receptionist was watching a movie on his laptop and while I was trying to talk to him, he kept looking at the screen.. I know it was a movie because he had it on full blast! And then when I tried paying for the parking, he had no change to give me back! Did I take up too much time from his movie? Because he didn't even look for change! He just said he doesn't have it! 5. The room was overall clean and the location was GREAT! It is just blocks away from Union Square. The price was ok for the room, but the service SUCKED! I would rather pay more and have people that at least smile rather than being just plain rude!
