Hotel XIX Siecle - Montreal

Das Hotel lag in direkter Lage zum Vieux Port sowie so zentral, dass Montreal bestens erkundet werden konnte. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel waren gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Das Zimmer war sauber und ruhig. Der Service war gut, die Mitarbeiter waren stets hilfsbereit. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet ist zu empfehlen. Es bietet nichts außergewönhliches, aber genug um sich für den Tag zu stärken.

Große, schöne, saubere Zimmer. Internet gibts allerdings nur vom Computer i.d. Lobby aus gratis, am Zimmer nur dial-up und das gebührenpflichtig.

Hands down, one of the best hotels I have ever experienced. My husband and I kept saying to each other: "I can't believe we are getting this much for the price." The rooms are absolutely enormous, with 15 foot+ ceilings and an expansive, luxurious bathroom. Nice view, soft sheets, and the room itself was SILENT at night. I am a light sleeper, and we didn't hear a single sound from the street or the other guests, even though we were on the 2nd floor. Very reasonable, very luxurious for what you pay.

Overall this is a great place to stay in a great area. The hotel really have an older feel which fit in with the Old Montreal neighborhood. Our room was beautiful; painted mostly with reds and with ceilings high enough for a basketball gym. The staff was courteous and friendly, although I remember having to wait for awhile to check in. We were just here one night, so I didn't get to try out everything the place had, but I'd recommend this place if you're looking for something moderately priced that will still feel very classy.

thought, for the price and its prior ratings, that this hotel would be something very special...it wasn't. the lobby, although rather small (this is a rather small hotel, after all), was nicely done. But, check-in desk was miniscule, they were "pushing" the valet parking (not noting alternatives such as free street parking (weekend), outdoor parking at $10 for the night, or self park at the adjacent indoor parking facility for $8 less than valet. the room was clostrophobic - high ceilings, yes, but small, cramped and not particularly well outfitted. The bathroom, small, had recently been redone in a black and white harlequin floor pattern - new, undamaged, attention getting...but, "over the top" in contrast. Biggest "moan"- the slamming doors of other rooms. The regular metal-on-metal slam of doors made for a restless night...regularly being woken up by slamming doors. Won't be staying here again...for sure.

Across from the Westin in the perfect location between the old port and the trendier st. catherine district, this hotel was fantastic. English-friendly staff, very helpful concierge, gorgeous library-themed open lobby, and extremely large rooms given the location and price. I plan on returning to Montreal, and I plan on staying at the XIX Siecle again.

It's located on a street w/ banks in Old Montreal, so it's quiet at night and and on weekends. (actually, it was quiet everyday.) A few minutes to the st. Paul st. w/ restaurants and tourists. The room is spacious and beautiful. The WiFi was at times slow and kept disconnecting, but it was free. Parking was also very reasonable. The staff was nice and helpful but some of the young staff didn't seem too knowledgeable. It's a small hotel and most of their guests seemed quiet. So, even though, you could hear all the noise from the hallway, it didn't bother us. We'd highly recommend it!

We booked this hotel about 2 months early and received a great price. It was a great location, right in the midst of old town. The service was exceptional. I asked the receptionist how to get to the Montmorency Falls and she not only gave us directions, but printed the directions out for us. We'll stay here anytime we go back. Highly recommended.

The location of this hotel was great, within walking distance of Old Montreal, metro, restaurants, museums. Just down the block found a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Comfort of the room was fabulous and sufficient blankets for the bed was provided without having to ask for them. Highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

The title says it all. Our stay was satisfactory to exceeds expectations in every aspect. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay above a 3 star hotel, but pay less than a four or five star.

Staff was excellent, room was clean, large and comfortable. Located in the heart of old city, walking distance to restaurants etc. Highly recommended

Granted, at the price we paid I wasn't expecting the Four Seasons, but still I was disappointed by the room and the overall service. Room was very clean but shabby with scuffs on the walls and a broken door on the wardrobe. Mattress and pillows were institutional at best. Concierge staff was pathetic -- I've received more thorough and enthusiastic help at a chain motel. I expected to get what I paid for, which wasn't much, but ended up with even less...

Valet parking was expensive. $22.00 per day plus tip everytime you need your car. This should be defined in the hotel description. Thje location, room and staf were great!

I wasn't expecting such an amazing and quaint hotel. The staff was very friendly and the entire atmosphere was very personal. The rooms are beautiful with ceilings probably 15 feet high. It is center of town 1 block from the convention center and other attractions. They give umbrellas on loan any time you need one. Limited room service but operates 24/7. Small hotel and part of the reason such personal service.

When I booked this hotel it was due to the low price and location near Old Montreal. I did not realize how nice it would be! The sheets were ridiculously comfortable and there was a huge jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The only complaint I have is that the window didn't open, but with such a large window it's probably a safety issue.

Staff were very friendly, accomodating and helpful. They provided lots of personal attention and consideration

The location is right in the center of Old Montreal and walking distance to all areas. The staff was very friendly and very helpful and pleasant. We would stay here again.

Great Location nice room friendly staff

Would absolutely recommend this hotel. The hotel staff was wonderful. The room was comfortable, clean and the linens were fabulous!

Beds were very comfortable and rooms in very updated conditions. Just don't ask for the economy room. There is one tiny room on each floor which we got as we booked the economy price. Every other room was very large. Staff was very helpful and hotel is centrally located and easy walking to old town and some parts of new. Don't eat the breakfast at the hotel, walk out about 2 blocks to get a nice hot breakfast for less. They do have a nice 24 hour room service menu for a light dinner if you come in late at night after restaurants close. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Great location in the heart of the old city.

The staff was helpful and all spoke English. The location in the old section was very convenient to sight-seeing and there are two metro stations close by. The room was very nice, the bed was quite comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel seemed updated. Could have made a bigger impact if (i) mattresses were replaced and (ii) mini bars in the room.

We stayed at Hotel XIX Siecle primarily because it was within walking distance of the train station, the touristy/old city, and Notre Dame Cathedral (we wanted to attend Mass there). The hotel exceeded our expectations in terms of convenience, cleanliness and roominess. My 6'3" husband usually complains about how cramped and small hotel rooms are -- not here -- he actually made the comment that the room was built for giants because it was so large and the shower head and bath were high enough that he didnt have to worry about hitting his head.

Our room was 25'x25'. Lovely staff and hotel.

The hotel was in a good location for staying in Old Montreal. You could walk to everything. There is a lot of construction going on in the Old Montreal area, but you are able to get around. The room was nice and very clean and they had a comfortable terrycloth bathrobe with the room.

Only thing it needs is hi-def televisions. Other than that, this was a great hotel!

The hotel XIX Siecle is located in the banking section of old Montreal. In fact, the hotel was originally a bank that was converted to a hotel in 2001. As such, it is ultra modern in an elegant facade. We loved the friendly, comfortable service and the location is simply the best. We will stay at this hotel whenever we visit Montreal.

The hotel was clean and quite nice, the rooms were large and very clean, however the noise insulation was poor and they allow dogs. Our neighbor had a dog that barked all night long and it was as if the dog was in our room. It was extremely frustrating, I cant understand how a hotel would allow for the convenience of some guests to the discomfort of all surrounding them. I would have wholeheatedly recommended this hotel except for the dog issue. So my suggestion is if you are going to stay here, make sure your neighbors dont have pets.....

We staid three nights. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I found the bed about right but it was too hard for my wife. The hotel was beautifully warm after bitter days in late Winter Montreal. We were in the hotel's best suite and for a high class hotel, I thought Hotel 262 was very good value for money, especially as parking and breakfast were included. The hotel is beautiful both inside and out, though the area was a little scary at night because it was very dark and quiet. Perhaps it was the season. All in all a very good experience.

I was originally going to opt for the cheapest hotel available as I was only to be in Montreal for one night, but after reading various reviews detailing problems at those hotels,decided to spend a few dollars more and selected Hotel 262. I could not have been happier with the choice. The location is great, the room was beautiful and beyond clean. Another poster has mentioned the excellent concierge Fritz, and he is indeed helpful and welcoming. The only caution I would have to others is that the name is now 262 but the signage and some interior branding is still Hotel XIX Siecle. This wouldn't have mattered except that I had gotten directions from Mapquest that were woeful and put me nowhere near the hotel. i therefore stopped at a visitors center and the agent originally couldnt help me until I remembered the former name. He then knew exactly where it was.

They were very kind. They were always helpful to make our trip enjoyable. Room was fancy.

Fritz is the evening concierge and man is he a friendly guy. He put up with my terrible high school French and gave us all sorts of great materials on the Highlights Festival. He always had a smile on his face when we came through the door and made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself is really nice but the real reason to stay here is our man Fritz. Couple that with reasonable rates and a great location (the Metro is two blocks away, the old port is a 5 minute walk) and I have a feeling we'll stay here again the next time we're in Montreal. P.S. Fritz rules.

This is not the first time I have stayed at Hotel XIX and I would never stay anywhere else in Montreal. The hotel itself is beautiful, charming and in a great location. The staff is absolutely wonderful-first rate. Rooms are gorgeous and clean.

Outstanding hotel in great neighborhood

The service and staff was excellent. Within minutes of our arrival, our luggage was taken in from the car and the car was taken away and parked. Everything was very easy. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel at any price.
