Grupotel Gravina - Barcelona

Leider entpuppte sich das kleine DZ mit Doppelbett als ein EZ mit einem 1,40 breitem Bett, das direkt an der Wand stand. Die 2. Person konnte nicht von der Seite ins Bett, sondern mußte immer von unten in das Bett krabbeln. Es gab auch nur einen Nachttisch, der als Ablage für beide diente. Zimmer hatte nur ein sehr kleines Fenster, welches gering Licht ins Zimmer ließ. Zimmersafe war nur gegen Gebühr. Ansonsten war das Zimmer sehr ruhig. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers und Bades waren gut. Hotel gut gelegen zu Shoppingläden und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Freundliche und hilfbereite Servicekräfte, gutes Frühstück und kostenloser Internetzugang trösteten uns über das Minizimmer hinweg.

Gutes 3 Sterne - Haus, sehr zentral gelegen. Hatten 2 Mal Glück und einen guten Preis bekommen. Beim dritten Versuch eine Woche später fast doppelt so teuer. Innen wurde das Haus neu designed, ganz gelungen. Zimmer teilweise sehr hellhörig.

Anständiges Hotel in zentraler ruhiger Lage

Die Standard-Doppelzimmer sind eher Einzelzimmer mit einem kleinen Doppelbett. Man kann sich darin kaum um die eigene Achse drehen.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang mit einem Glas Cava. Zimmer angenehm gross inkl. Bad. Sehr umfangreiches und qualitativ hochstehendes Frühstücksbuffet, dank Rabattcoupon der Reception erschwinglich. Restaurant mit feiner Küche und moderaten Preisen.

für dieses Hotel spricht, eine Superlage, nur 3 Minuten von Plaza Catalania, alles in nächster Nähe, man braucht kein Taxi, Airportbus in nächster Nähe - kostet nur 3,90 zum Flughafen, nicht unbedingt schön ist der Blick in den Hinterhof - ist aber ja egal, leider ist kein Frühstück bei Zimmerpreis inkl., alles im Allen ein sehr guten Haus - hat aber auch seinen Preis. Für ein Kurztrip, wie bei uns 4 Tage lang ECHT EIN SUPER HAUS

The location could'nt have been better. Right in the centre but quiet at night as it's on a side street. Staff were very helpful. Would return.

Being from San Francisco and admitted "heat wimps", we made sure to spend the extra money to book hotels with air conditioning. At Gravina, the a/c control is a simple on or off. The only problem is, the only thing that turns "on" is a mechanical noise to make you think there's air coming - there isn't actually any air. We had a "superior doble" rom, which actually had plenty of space for us and our bags. When we complained, we were offered a move to a room 1/3 the size and after 5 minutes we realized the condition of the a/c was exactly the same. So we stayed in the larger room and begged for an electric fan, which the hotel did provide. The a/c in the lobby was considerably better and as we sat in the lobby bar trying to cool off, we overheard other guests complaining of the heat in their rooms, so it appears it is a hotel-wide problem. Though we had indicated to the reception desk that we did not feel we should be paying the same price for a fan-cooled (but not de-humidified) room that we'd booked for an air conditioned room, the gentleman on duty at check--out either was uninformed of the situation or feigned ignorance rather well. In addition, the neighborhood is a tad dicey - if you walk to the left and down to the Ramblas you are on a skinny stretch of street that seems to be the in place to buy punk clothing. Turning to the right out of the door and then to the right again, you are on a main street heading to Placa Catalunya. Don't do the breakfast! It's too expensive (15 or 17 euros!) and it's a "full" breakfast - but the food isn't well cooked and the one morning we tried it (thanks to "50% off" coupons from the front desk) I was sick most of the morning.

Truly exceptional service and advice regarding local safety/restaurants/tapas from the front desk staff. The free Internet and cafe/bar/restaurant onsite was convenient and much appreciated. They even gave out a 50% off coupon for their breakfast buffet. Clean hotel. The beds were hard, but this appears to be the norm with other hotels as well. Conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the Las Ramblas district. My family would definitely stay there again!

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds are VERY firm and the room was hot much of the time. We were there in late June. The lobby is cool and comfortable but our 3rd floor room was always too hot. There is no temperature control just an on-off switch. The breakfast is GREAT!

The Grupotel Gravina was simply marvelous!! We were close to the Rambla, a beautiful old cathedral, many restaurants with reasonable prices, shopping galore and nearby metro or other transportation. The clerks were very friendly and courteous at the desk, and even offered us a glass of champagne if so desired at check-in time. The room was ready for us soon after we arrived after an all night flight. We felt safe, and one day even returned from the bakery with lunch to rest in our hotel room. This is an excellent choice, and also so kind to accomodate children. The clerks also speak a bit more English and it was much easier to ask them specific questions. They also have a little breakfast if so desired and a full cafe/wine bar too on the premise. It was a little more money than we usually spend, but totally worth it as you are so close to walking the Rambla, the Placa de Catalunya and the bus touristic. It is just a bit off the north part of the Rambla. You basically have access to the airport using RENFE just a few blocks away. The hotel also offers you detailed maps of the city and information. A Great Choice!!

The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring Barcelona. Hotel staff were very helpful and the welcome glass of Cava was a nice touch. The buffet breakfast in the hotel is expensive for what you get but the 50% off vouchers given on arrival give you the opportunity to try it.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gravina. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great ... close to everything but on a quiet street. I would definitely stay again. We had a balcony room with a nice view The only negative I can think of was the very small elevator.

The hotel was in a good location close to placa catalunya and la ramblas and provided a good base for sight seeing. The petite double room was on the small side with no view but was very clean and provided everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us a very welcome glass of cava on arrival. They also provided us with lots of tourist information which was useful. The hotel is perfect for travellers who want to see the city and just want somewhere comfortable to sleep that is affordable.

My wife and I could stretch out our hands and touch each other from end to end in our room. There was one big pillow, which kept hitting the light swtiches located on the headboard directly above our heads. One of the most annoying aspects was a telephone table mounted to the right hand side of the bed, which made it very easy to bang your head if you turned over in the night. The double bed was pushed against the wall, as there was no other choice. this meant that the person on that side had to crawl over to get out in the need arose during the night. On the other hand, the bathroom was huge and looked recently redone. I'm not sure why they decided to invest in that instead of the room itself. This room made those I've stayed at elsewhere in Europe seem spacious.

Room tiny,no view no space, bed tight to two walls, no storage for suit case, could not open fridge door fully due to proximity of bed. tea coffee facilities consited of two platic cups two tea bags and 4 coffee satchets at a cost of 3 euros per day. staff were good polite and friendly. the site was very close to centre of city.

The hotel is nice and cheap. The service was good, people are friendly, breakfast is incredible. The only complain was about the cigarette smell that was very strong in nonsmoking room, I kept windows open 3 days in raw to make it disappear. And walls are very thin, the neighbors upstairs were very noisy. Happily they went to sleep much earlier than me, and woke up later. Otherwise, everything was great, very good location (4 min to metro and main square), even hotel provided me with bottle of champagne and fashion magazines. Hotel is quite old but clean. I think it is very nice choice for this money and location.

when yiu receive a good welcome from freindly staff your holiday starts off on a good note

I stayed five nights here and was very satisfied with the hotel and my room (which they upgraded gratis to a double). The only problem is that the walls are paper-thin. You can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are saying and doing. I had an infant on one side and an amorous couple on the other, so I got less sleep than I would have liked. Otherwise this is an excellent value.

In general, the Hotel is good. Service at the front desk was good and timely. The rooms are clean, but they are small. Very close to where the action is in Barcelona. Beds are rock solid, after 3 days you get used to them. Service at the bar is very good.

We were met with sparkling wine after a late flight into Barcelona, which was a nice touch. In fact, the staff was always helpful, and service was good. We had a triple room for our family of three, and it was fine. Not great. Not bad. Fine. We didn't pay for great, so the only big complaint was that we could hear our neighbors... at 4 AM. If you're a light sleeper, the walls are too thin. With that said, the location is outstanding. Our son really appreciated the free internet access in the lobby. I think it was a fair standard in Europe for the rate, but an American would rate it 2 stars.

Close to Las Ramblas and walking distance to the pier, it was great. Clean, great employees who told us where to go and what to eat. Free internet in the lobby. Great full breakfast! Way exceeded our expectations. We even had an unepected balcony.

Hotel very central, very clean, breakfast good, rooms small but very adequate. Definitely recommend for short trips to Barcelona

Hotel was centrally located and the staff was polite and helpful. However the bed was very uncomfortable, lumpy, small, and against a wall which made getting up inconvenient.

room was very clean and the bed comfortable though the room was small we were aware of this on booking, larger ones were available. breakfeast was very nice but we would not have paid 17eur each (50% discount) evening meal was nothing to write home about. all staff were very friendly and helpful

Good all round, close to La Rambler and some great little bars. Quiet but near main bus routes and tube stops. Only slight thing is that if you like power showers, the top floor didn't quite blow us away.

Well, impressed from the start. Stayed in another hotel in barcelona last year and this was so much better. Location excellent as near the main catalunya square and only a short walk to the Ramblas. Room iself was pretty big and clean which is what you want. Note: had booked the superior one as recommended by other travellers who had stayed here.

I was very impressed with the Grupotel Gravina. The Wi-Fi worked great and it was very clean. My only negative comment is that the rooms are very small.

Located steps away from Plaza Cataluna, Las Ramblas and other notable sites/tourist venues, we felt it was a good choice. Not the hotel's nor hotel.com's fault the USD$ is so poor against the Euro right now, otherwise it would have been a better bargain. But, all in all, quite satisfied.

PROS Great location, blocks off the Plaza de Catalunya Excellent Service We had the two twin Superior Room and it was large by European standards Air Conditioning worked well CONS The beds like most European beds were pretty hard There was a lot of noise from the street below, so if you are a light sleeper this may not be the place for you. The second tower is connected to the first but you have to leave the elevator, go up stairs then get a different elevator; so if you have much luggage it can be a pain.

Basically the room was accessed thru a maze of corridors and lifts and was very noisy meaning i got little sleep. The bathroom smelt quite whiffy but was OK once you shut the door.

This hotel is so impressive we are planning another trip and will definately stay here, the room was lovely, clean and modern, the reception was very smart and the staff very friendly, very close to metro and located just off the top of La Rambla, plenty of bars around and the ice cold glass of Cava went down very well on our arrival on a hot day.

We just wanted a place to lay our heads at the end of the day and this was perfect for that purpose.

Very central and on a quite street all services and tourist attractions within walking distance.

Excellent location. Aspects of the hotel were 'a little tired' but for price and location it was perfect. The glass of cava on arrival was a nice touch. The hotel appears to be several building knocked into one and we had to take two elevators to get to our room. But okay.

There should be tea/coffee available in the rooms with the kettle instead of glossy magazines,the interconnnecting door should be locked and unable to open from either room. Any problems need to be sorted out there and then not 'wait for the maintenance man at 7.00am the following morning. and if you hear a noise ring for reception'. If you were in an emergency you would not be able to do this!! The safe in the rooms should be free of charge. The cups in the room should be china not plastic.

This hotel is very well located to walk to the main sights of Barcelona, yet in a reasonably quiet location. The rooms are comfortable, but bring your own tea if you want a cuppa. Price is ok considering it is central. (No taxi costs or Metro's needed).

Staff was extremely friendly upon check-in, and helpful during our stay. Very convenient location and good value. 24/7 free internet access. Typical small European room, but adequate considering how little time we spent in the room!

First of all, hotel locaion is great, just at the heart of the city, easy to access to everywhere by metro or by foot. But if you travel with car, the parking is very expensive 26Euro per day. The room is not good, at least the room we stayed has wired smell, really small and no air flowing. Things are not very clean. The best thing about the hotel is staff are very nice and friendly, they will tell you and recommend places to go and eat. Especially the Japanese girl during the evening shift is very knowledgeable and friendly. Also the wireless is free in the hotel.
