We had low expectations for the price. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Location was great. Price was great. Parking included in price was great. Had no problem getting and keeping a spot. Service was great. Room was clean. Request a side street or backstreet room as noise from front street is pretty loud. Exterior of hotel was nice - rooms need a little bit of updating on decor but otherwise everything met our expecations for a motel/motor inn type of place. Great bang for the buck!

I booked a room for one night and we arrived at the hotel just one hour before the check out time because of a late flight arrival. We were tired and wanted to stay one more day in San Francisco, so I asked about the rates to the staff. There were two people at the front desk and they discussed everything in a different language in front of me. They offered me a room at a price that is twice as much what I paid with hotels.com. And the interesting thing was my room (with two queen beds) wasnt available when I arrived at the hotel. When I asked why, I heard a lady's voice from the background telling me that if a guest doesnt arrive before 5 am, they can sell the room. But they did let me and my sister take a shower in one of the rooms being cleaned.

Floors were dirty. Smelled of smoke, even though we were in a non-smoking room. The shower was freezing. I was charged extra for requesting 2 beds but only got 1 bed upon checkin. We were in town for a wedding so got in late and were told if we came 5 min later than we did they would have sold our room to someone else. When I asked about being charged extra for a room I wasn't getting, management (who seems to live on site) said I was lucky I was even getting a room! Bad service, rude staff, wouldn't recommend, definitely won't stay here again.

The hotel is good and a decent price considering I booked so last minute. Everything was good and had free wireless (something the airport does not). Only issue is there is street noise from Lombard and Franklin but just take a melatonin to deal with that.

The parking lot is very hard to get out of, I almost go tinto an accident because I could not see the oncoming traffic. The hotel is located close to Pier 39. They do have a parking lot but you may have to park behind another vehicle.

This hotel was absolutely perfect! It was so close to Fishermans wharf and so clean we couldn't ask for more! AND the free parking was a major sell! The sweetest couple seems to run it, which only added to it's comfort. I even recommended it to my dad who was coming up the next weekend, a really great find!

For the cost of the hotel, it was quite noisy and the room smelled musty. The TV was fuzzy and some channels did not come in. Over all, it was ok. The staff was nice though.

I was happy to find a room downtown with free parking. Apparently that is a big deal in San Fran. But the bathroom was half the size of the room itself. Of course not complaining about the size of the bathroom. The room was just big enough for what we needed. A place to crash for the night. Would like to have had more parking spaces though. We had to leave our keys with the front desk, because we had to double park.

The Francisco Bay Inn was a pleasant experience. I felt safe and comfortable and it was close to what I wanted to see. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable with providing local transportation information.

Affordable hotel on a noisy street. Police/ambulance sirens and large diesel truck at all hours of the night. Noisy even with the window closed. Room was small with 2 double beds but the bathroom was large and recently remodeled. Room smelled of strong disinfectant after housekeeping and toilet kept leaking water. Closeness to Fisherman's Wharf (~1 mile walk), free parking and affordability were positives. Also there was a microwave oven and refrigerator in the room. Parking is tight and if you don't get one of the few spots, be prepared to park behind someone & leave your keys with the manager. Overall, if you are looking for a cheaper hotel in SF near the wharf with free parking and you don't mind all the noise, this is the place for you.

The room we were given was next to the elevator and the elevator shaft was part of the room. I got the king bed, but that was almost the entire room. A desk chair also took up part of the small space left over, but there was no room for the desk or our suitcases, or us. The "closet was a rod over one of the night stands. I asked to change rooms, but they said they couldn't. I checked in just before 3. They also said I asked for a king bed, and that was what they gave me. Unfortunately, I had prepaid for 4 days.

The price was right for this particular hotel, the few complaints that we had were minimal. The room was clean and the bathroom was large. We understood the parking problem as we didn't have a car to worry about. The vending machine took our money without getting a refund from the front desk. Also, we arrived early and wasn't able to "check in" before 2 PM, though they were nice to hold our luggage while we waited. Don't expect too much for the continental breakfast, brewed coffee would have been better than instant. Again, minimal problems, we would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

I would have been prepared to give a glowing review of this hotel, it was very clean, well taken care of, conveniently located, and we got it for a very cheap price. Then I accidentally left my cell phone in the room when we checked out. To be clear, I know for sure that we left it in the room, and I know exactly where it was sitting. I thought that my wife had gotten it, but later found out she had not. When I called the hotel to inform them that I had left it, they immediately became very defensive, saying, "you must have left it somewhere else, that sort of thing doesn't happen here", meanwhile, international calls were being made on my phone. The managements absolute refusal to look into it indicates to me that they are in on it. As nice as the hotel was, I cannot recommend to anyone a place that places so little value on taking care of their customers, and may even be willing to exploit them.

Nice and clean room, did not expect that after reading all the reviews. Only minus: pretty loud, I slept good, but for people who have a light sleep,this is not the hotel to stay at...every thing else was good. Parking was also ok, had a first row parking.

The rooms were small. For the price it was a good value. Esp in San Fran. We would return for another stay. The breakfast was very limited expect to eat out. My room had a microwave and frig in it. Parking was cramped but that was O.K. most places in SF have no parking or charge for the same. Staff was friendly and helpful. Office was very smokey due to staff member smoking in the office. Owner appears to live on site.

great location, rooms where very nice, beds where comfortable (better than motel 6 but not comfort inn)only prob was we reserved a King size bed and when we got there the only room they had open had two twin beds.

The Hotel is a good price. The parking is the problem with this Hotel Stalls are so small that I had to crawl out the passenger side door. If you arrive late you have to park behind someone and leave your keys so they can move it. Not what I want to do...

Hotel was easy to find and in a very convienient location for public transportation. Parking was free, so we just parked the car there and took the bus and cable/street cars everywhere. We had a seven day muni-pass that covered all the San Francisco public transportation options, and got us within a block of the hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff during the day was very friendly, some rooms could be very noisy from street traffic, but we had a room facing the back alley so it was quieter. Neighborhood was very nice and we felt safe at all times of the day.

For the rate I ended up paying, this hotel met and exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly and very helpful. After my initial two night stay I wanted to stay one more night. The manager let me stay in my current room and granted me the original hotels.com rate. After paying for the extended stay I promptly left to explore the city. What I didn't realize was my checkcard remained at the front desk. Upon discovering this a few hours later, I checked with my online banking page for the last transactions, called the hotel and the hostess told me what had happened. She even went so far as to put the card back on my nightstand upsstairs after housekeeping finished in my room. Now that is service.

Parking at the Francisco Bay Inn is a joke. You have to leave your key at the front desk so they can move your car in the very tiny "lot." They left my car's lights on and ran down my battery. I needed a jump from another person staying at the hotel as they did nothing to help and denied using my lights at midnight.

This was the 2nd time we stayed at the Franciscan Bay, and it still met our expectations. Nothing fancy...just a clean room. You can hear street noise; you are in the city!! Close to a lot. A fair walk to Fish. wharf, but not far from giradelli. Parking is interesting. If you get there later, you have to double park and give the office your keys. I was a little uncomfortable, but it was fine. Will stay there again

This hotel is really nice. It's not at Union Square, but the location is still good. You can walk to Fisherman's Wharf in 15-20min. They also have free parking and we still got a spot at about 8pm. Internet was very good, too. The rooms are small, the bathroom is huge. Clean & comfortable. We stayed there 3 days and would do it again!

The room, while kind of small, was comfortable and very clean. The only issue I would have is one most hotels in San Fransisco have, parking. While they offer free onsite parking, they don't have enough spaces for every room. The spaces they do have are tiny so driving an SUV made parking a problem. Also the business next door to the hotel either parks in some of the spaces or blocks in people already parks in spaces. While the front desk can call them about this it makes it a hassle. Also since the parking is limited and on a main street, if you don't get in early enough to get a spot there is the worry about not being able to park at all. This made me a bit worried to leave after a certain hour for fear of having to park a mile or so away when I'd return.

I paid the same price I've paid for a hostel room the last time in San francisco, but the experience was 10.000 times better. The front desk clerk was very nice and we got in very quickly. The room was very good, spacious and clean. They have everything you may need in the room. The king size bed was great and the overall made me very satisfied. We spent 2 nights there and will def. Come back whenever we are in San francisco.

I was very pleased with the location and the condition of this place.Free parking is a definite plus. The bathroom was spacious and clean.Beds were comfortable. This place is overall a great deal if you are not expecting all the luxuries of a five star hotel.

At off-season rates, this motel is a great deal. Our room was spacious, although in a previous stay, had a very small room... must be luck of the draw. Parking is included.. a huge plus in the city. The location is good and the staff was pleasant. The only downside, the continental breakfast..I never expect much, but at least hope for a cup of coffee.. they had only instant coffee granules & hot water! (they do provide a packet of coffee for a small in-room coffeemaker).

The elevator was a little kitchy, and squalled its way to our floor. Our room was clean and comfortable, not musty or aging. The bathroom was spacious and new. The parking really is free and fairly safe. We're hoping to return to this hotel on our next trip to the city.

We found the accommodations much nicer than we expected for the low price. The room was very nice and included a nice continental breakfast. The only complaint was that we had no car and were told by the night clerk we could let a friend who lived in the area use our parking when she came to visit, but the hotel managers, who were there the next morning, would not honor his offer, and they made her pay to park there. This caused us some embarrassment, and we felt it was poor customer service.

For the price of the stay and location i would recommend to stay there. Theres a steak house within walking distance its near the golden gate bridge and other acttractions.

I would never stay in this hotel ever again. The service was bad, we found a roach in our room. As if that was not bad enough the elvator was ancient and the room they palced us was in front of the elevator. The area was dark and it did not feel safe, especially with the elvator on the other side of the door. When we asked to be moved to another room all we got was additude. They told us that they could not move us till morning and that no else has ever complained. Needless to say that did it we walked around and found another hotel to stay in. When I asked for a refund they told me I had to go thru the website I booked it on. It was a big hassle and not worth it at all!

Nothing outstanding. Would recommend if you did not mind staying in a simple hotel. Pretty decent for the money. Convenient location, including parking and continental breakfast. If you need luxury, do not stay here. If you are fine with comfort and location, and are only using the rooms for shower and to sleep, this is a great little hotel.

My title says it all. I'm a college student and was hiking, cycling and touring all around the bay area for a week. This place was an awesome base for a few days of that trip. The location is top notch as it is on the far eastern end of the marina-area Lombard street strip - closer to the areas I really wanted to see - downtown, BART, etc - but still not far from Presidio, Golden Gate, etc. The room was very clean and did NOT smell of smoke. Fridge, Microwave, coffee maker were clean. Bathroom bright and clean. This is all I want. Free, safe-looking parking in a bright lot was a big plus! They even let us park our car early in the day (10am) before we could check in. Other reviewers have reported this as well. Continental breakfast gave me some calories (I have low standards for that) - nothing exciting. This hotel is supposedly family owned.

The staff was very rude, the people upstaris were very noisy, room was small, very close to the street so you can hear every car that goes by. The free breakfast was a joke. And not to mention, the staff was very rude!!!!

Wow. We were really impressed with our experience. We looked at many accomodations in the city and wanted to be close to fisherman's wharf. We had read the reviews and did not experience any of the poor treatment that others talked about. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful...it took my husband longer to check in because the people in front of him were having trouble with their credit card. The clerk was very helpful and patient in helping them. I enjoyed the hot chocolate available when we arrived at the lobby later in the evening. It was chilly, and it was a nice addition. Our room was very clean. The bathroom was huge, although lacking a lavatory counter to put cosmetics, etc. on. I improvised by using the ironing board. The room included a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer and iron/board. The location was great, but it is a fair, but enjoyable walk to the wharf. We never felt uncomfortable or threatened after dark. Very good value, especially if you are not planning on spending alot of time in your room. The free parking was an added plus. Will definitely stay there again.
