Hotel Reina Cristina - Algeciras

Das Haus hat insgesamt eine exzellente Atmosphäre, nur der Service ist nicht ganz so zuvorkommend, wie man sich erhofft (z.B. Rezeption, Bar), man muss selbst auf das Personal zugehen. In allen Zimmern fehlt eine Informationsbroschüre über angebotene Serviceleistungen des Hotels, z.B. wie funktioniert das Telefon?, wie erreiche ich die Rezeption/den Operator? gibt es einen Room-Service? etc.

- Abendessen sehr schlecht - Personal war total überfordert - Frühstück verbesserungswürdig

Herrlicher kolonialer alter Kasten. Tolles Haus mit Geschichte. Gute Lage, schöner Park, wunderbare Atmosphäre. Jedenfalls in der Nebensaison.

The grounds are lush and beautiful and the rooms are clean and appointed with antique furniture. During a 3 week trip through Spain, this was the only hotel where we found the front desk staff to be curt and unhelpful, however. The concierge would not help us locate a restaurant or answer questions about our morning ferry. We enjoyed a delicious dinner buffet on the patio overlooking the gardens which was reasonably priced and our included breakfast was great.

The hotel was beautiful and exceeded my expectations in terms of what I got for my money. Ferry port was only a few minutes' walk away, and our room was larger than any other I've seen, and quite nice. However, front desk staff were not very friendly and were unable to answer questions we had about transportation out of Algeciras by train and ferry. Overall, our stay here was pleasant and provided a comfortable, quiet stay before our trip to morocco.

WE HAVE STAYED AT THE REINA SEVERAL TIMES AND THE SERVICE IS SECOND TO NONE . THE STAFF ARE THE BEST IN SPAIN AS IS THE OVERALL VALUE FOR MONEY. WE LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT

We chose the Reina Cristina as it was recommended by my sister who stayed there last year. The rooms are clean and comfortable although our AC seemed not to be working. The pool area sadly had not been cleaned out and the area was littered with broken glass and bottles. The food was a little 'eclectic' (sprouts and spaghetti) but plentiful. Staff were friendly and spoke excellent english although they were happy to speak spanish in reply if you try! Its such a shame that this lovely hotel is now overshadowed by the docks - do try it but close your eyes on the way in and out!

Overall the hotel was good and friendly service. Good location because you can walk to the hotel from the ferry port if coming from or going to Tangier. Breakfast buffet (included with our room price) was excellent. Only negatives were: We were charged $6 euros extra for room service because it was order 20 minutes before the kitchen closed and the internet service very slow.

Very convenient location relative to the ferry to Morocco, and to highways. Grounds and exterior very pretty. Room was large and clean, but a little tired. Staff was not very friendly or helpful. Extra daily charge to use the safe in the room. Abundant, secure free parking.

Short walk from the bus stop/port 10 min. 10-15 min walk to historic downtown area, and 30 min walk to major shopping mall. Breakfast was excellent and great value for the money. Staff was helpful...provided maps and directions (spoke English). Would visit again.

This place was excellent! It's where the rich and politically connected people of the late 1800's and early 1900's stayed, met and relaxed in a forested, coastal setting, with a view of Gibralter. Everything was marble, oak, other hardwoods, everything worked - lights, plumbing. Very old and very pleasant atmosphere, very classy. Electric guitar and bass player played in a 1900 style lounge. Great art was everywhere. A self-supporting spiral staircase spun around from floor to floor. Almost too much to take in in one night! The food was top quality including wild fish, fresh salad vegetables, classy waiters and truly good red wines. It was hard to find - the city has long engulfed it, but it's on top of a hill. If you go to Algecirus, Spain, you GOTTA stay at the Hotel Christina Riena!

We live in Spain and visit Gibraltar regularly so we always choose a hotel on the mainland rather than Gibraltar where they are usually more expensive. The Reina Cristina is an excellent hotel for this purpose. We were welcomed by very pleasant reception staff. Our room, though old fashioned was very clean and comfortable with a package of toiletries for each of us. We had dinner and breakfast and cannot fault the food in any way. Buffet service at each meal, The salad bar at dinner was so good I didn't even try the hot food. My husband did and he said it was good. Breakfast, well, whatever took your fancy. All in all a superb hotel. Will use it again

lovely hotel , wouldnt class evening mesl as 4 star food though . breakfast very impressive ,made up for evening ,meal . ...no kettle tea or coffee !!!! would stay there again on b+b board

This hotel is an oasis in the concrete jungle that is the town/port. It is conveniently placed for all transport connections and services to other places. Stayed a few nights on a half board basis in low season. In my opinion this was worth every penny I paid and exceeded expectations. The room may not have had all the latest facilities but the important ones were all present : the room was clean, comfortable and spacious, with a balcony and views to port. En suite bathroom facilities were good, clean and spacious. But in my view the hotel excelled in the quality and choice of the self-service breakfast and evening meals. Hotel has also retained many period features from the turn of the last century. Overall very good value for money.

I stay here on a regular basis and will continue to do so.

Cannot fault this hotel , the building is spectacular , staff attention is second to none , on site facilities are excellent , breakfast quality was amazing !!!!! all set in fantastic gardens . Some people's first view of the location may have concerns (as it is near the port) but not at all !!!! the gardens are so large , and the hotel is situated amongst a mass of huge trees spread over a large area.

Outstanding value for the money! Had a wonderful breakfast and dinner buffet.Wonderful service- close to ferry to Tangier. Situated in a lovely park like setting. Very quiet. This hotel is "steeped in history"

What a lovely hotel,kept in excellent condition.The hotel and grounds are magnificent and made my choice of hotel for my next stay in Algeciras very easy.

The hotel is set back away from Algeciras. Beautiful, well kept grounds, friendly helpful staff, both in reception and the Restaurant/bar. Nice pool area, and a patio to eat outside if you wish. We had a 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking the port of Algeciras, and Gibraltar, worth asking for this, as not all rooms have a balcony, or face this way. Good facilities, pool, indoor pool, sauna, tennis, mini golf etc. Very good food, excellent buffet breakfast and dinner.

the hotel was a bit hard to find, especially since we arrived in the evening. it's a beautiful establishment, the amenities lived up to the expectations set by pictures on their website. however, the room we got was less impressive: the bed and room were clean and the air-con worked, but don't expect fancy stationary or elegant lighting. all in all, if you really had to stay in algeciras, i'd say get this place, i think you'll like it.

The hotel itself looks nice, and it is built within a park -so to speak- so it can actually be very nice. They have a bar, a large restaurant, conference room, TV lounge, and several facilities outside the hotel. However the rooms were very small, and sometimes located far away from the reception. My room had a view to the parking lot, and a friend of mine could only see a wall. The staff's English skills were also nearly non-existing, although I could usually manage to explain what I wanted. All in all, the hotel was nice and beautifully located, but the rooms were very disappointing.

I thought the hotel was a good deal for the price... the only thing was that the telephone in our room didn't work. We'd been traveling for a week and wanted to call home, so the phone was pretty important to us. Staff didn't seem to care about the phone and were very reticent to help.

We stopped off here on a train trip from London to Morocco. It's an easy walk from the hotel down to the port and the hotel is large and with good facilities - a nice pool, large rooms and a good buffet style breakfast. Probably not suitable as a destination in itself though.

A very good hotel with a vast parking space and a very firendly atmosphere.

The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. A+ on that front. The common areas look like they havent been updated since the 1940s, and I LIKE THAT! It is just charming, charming, charming. You feel like Cary Grant could wlak in at any moment. The bathrooms were nice, but they should upgrade the room furniture. The TV was small and the wireless didnt work half the time, which was very, very frustrating, plus a 9 euro charge per day (youth hostels have it FREE - why cant a 3-4 star hotel?). There was no room service. When I asked, they said you go to the buffet, tell the waiter what you want, and they bring it to your room. That's room service to them. The air conditioning in the hotel was completely broken, but thankfully it was not needed. My room had a balcony & it is VERY breezy there. This was a great place to stay for visiting Gibraltar.

The ad doesn't do the hotel justice. It is impressively located in its own wooded grounds, easily accessible but quiet enough. Facilities good and clean. Food plentiful but lacked variation. Naff charging for water or orange juice with dinner when it is free with breakfast - otherwise excellent value. Want to stay there again!

Hotel hors du temps situé dans un superbe parc. Le personnel de la réception, hautain et méprisant ,est indigne de cet ex-palace. Chambres parfaite et vue unique. Un véritable havre de paix dans la fournaise andalouse...

Trevligt prisvärt hotell. De tillhandahöll babysäng utan problem, trots att vi inte meddelat detta i förväg.

Hotel ottimo spazioso con accesso a internet veloce peccato che la giornata non era delle migliori altrimenti avrei fatto un tuffo in piscina.le camere sono enormi. lo consiglio anche per l abbondante colazione

Avkopplande omgivning i stor park och fin atmosfär. Dålig frukostbuffé. Den förväntade juicen var utspädd saft. Tyvärr inte ovanligt i Spanien trots ett överflöd av inhemska apelsiner.

Hotellet var ganske tomt for folk da jeg var der. Litt utenfor sesong vet jeg, så det virket veldig stort og litt tomt. Mat og service var veldig bra og hotellets basseng ble en liten oase for meg som var på jobb i området. Hotelletrommet var rent og stort, men litt "kaldt" med tanke på interiør. Grei avstand til shopping området og fint fortau å gå på. Enkelt å finne frem.

Hotel charmant, très bon accueil, proche de l'arrivée de bateau mais pas de nuisance sonore à noter. Nous avons mangé le soir sur place le buffet est copieux et bon mais ce n'est pas de la grande cuisine.

Kamer veel te klein, bed te smal, te weinig meubilair (tafel en stoelen ontbraken); goede badkamer; een eenpersoonskamer die verhuurd wordt voor twee personen.

Het hotel is erg mooi, zeker als je de deprimerende omgeving hierbij in ogenschouw neemt! Kamer is redelijk basis, maar moet vroeger erg mooi zijn geweest.

L'hotel si è dimostrato migliore di quanto c'immaginassimo guardando le foto e leggendo le recensioni. Molto elegante, pulito, silenzioso, completo di ogni comfort, con buffet sempre vario e ricco. Ottimi i secondi e i dolci, accettabili i primi, ma del resto gli italiani con la pasta sono molto esigenti. Bellissimo il parco. Unica pecca: il letto un po' piccolo.
