Sebastian really knows how to treat his guests. I felt as if I was visiting a friend in Germany instead of a hotel. He offers a wonderful breakfast, and bar. Both the building and furnishings are quaint, and it is conveniently located within 2 blocks of three nice restaurants, and 4-5 blocks of both the Hirshgarden (Munich's outdoor beer garden and park) and the Nymphenberg Palace (Germany's answer to Versailles). The S-bahn train (Line #1 or #8 are 35 min. to the airport) is a 5 block (700m) walk. Tram 17 which will take you downtown in about 15 minutes is also a short 4-5 block walk away.

We stayed for two nights in Hotel Laimer Hof, and were very satisfied with our stay. The room was large and clean and very quiet at night. The breakfast spread was good. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. The hotel is very close to Schloss Nymphenburg. The only two things of which you should be aware are that the hotel is on the very outskirts of Munich (so much so that several maps of Munich do not depict it), and so it takes a while to get into town (about a ten-minute walk--or five if you're a fast walker, I suppose--to the Strassenbahn and then about fifteen minutes to the city center). Also, the parking lot only has room for five cars, and it was a bit difficult, when we arrived late, to find on-street parking. If you don't mind the trek, though, this hotel has lots to recommend it and the price is definitely right!

This hotel was so charming and quaint and off the main street in Munich, located on a quiet little street. Our room was beautiful and clean and the owner was very friendly and helped with information regarding the locations of bier gardens and things to do in the area. It was every bit as pretty as the picture and the breakfast was awesome! I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back. Lisa and Art

We stayed in the Laimer Hof 2 times during our trip to Europe. It was a great place to start the trip. We were able to check in early and start our jetlag recovery with a very nice walk close to the hotel. There is a palace and beautiful grouds just a few blocks away. We stayed 2 nights before we came back to the US. Sebastian and family are very gracious folks who will do all they can to make your visit comfortable. This is a small German hotel, very clean with a nice breakfast included. I would reccomend it highly and would not even look for something different if I were to visit Munich again.

Cozy, comfortable hotel in a great location in quiet neighborhood close to public transportation. Sebastian and his staff are the most friendly, personable, knowledgeable and hospitable hotel staff I've ever met.

Sebastian is the only reason I would return. Not in a happening area of Munich, but nice if you like peace from the crowds and chaos of the inner city. Sebastian goes above and beyond to accompany any need. He personally sat with me to teach me the area and good spots to hit while visiting. Not good for younger travelers, best for a mature getaway!

The quality of accomodations and, especially, the level of service was above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely plan on returning to Hotel Laimer Hof Munich on my next trip to the area!

Bewertet von Sharon aus Seattle am Jan 11, 2009
As many have already said, Sebastian knocks himself out to give guests advice and help (though some of his advice turned out to not be the best, so second opinions or your own horse sense should be checked as well), as well as the young man who works the night shift who fielded several "emergency" questions. My only big complaint is that the whole place was freezing, bone-chilling cold (except for the breakfast room in the morning). We stayed in many other hotels during our trip during the winter cold snap, and only this one was cold. I don't think they had the heat on at all--our radiator was cold. Also, I don't really mind small rooms, but ours was very small to the point of my bruising my knees several times on the brass bed frame just trying to move about the room. Also, the bathroom window leaked water overnight, creating a puddle on the windowsill where we had stowed our travel kits (there being no other surface or cubby to put them). Finally, a fuse went out or something, so our TV (and built-in clock) and wall light stopped working. We didn't report it, so I cannot say how responsive they would have been, but I am guessing they would have indeed tried to fix the problem.

If you want a hotel that is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Munich - stay here. Great family run hotel. This hotel is located admist the homes of the local Munich residents and gives you the real Munich experience. Don't worry, its only a 5 minute walk to the tram station or a 10 minute walk to the train (S-bahn) station. I prefer the 10 minute walk - the S-bahn is much faster and covers more locations without having to transfer.

Bewertet von S aus london am Aug 18, 2008
A very plesant trip with a very friendly owner who gave us plenty of info. Only problem is that my wife complained about the walking distance to the station to get into town which was 30 mins. So if it raining or you are not keen on a walking then this is a problem. We were very tired after shopping and so it would have been best to get a taxi. Room was a bit small but clean and it had a nice fan to keep us cool. Parking was on the street and safe (they do have about 4 off street paking spaces but they are not necessary)

Loved this hotel! It was in quiet neighborhood with excellent Italian restaurant a block away. Sebastian showed us how to get around Munich and told us how to use the tram. We told him we were going to Paris the next day and he even gave us information about Paris since his wife is from there. The breakfast was very good and hospitality incredible!
