Marks Hotel - Glasgow

Lovely hotel in the centre of Glasgow. Great location on Bath Street where there are good bars and places to eat. Great value for money when compared with somewhere like the novotel.

The hotel itself is wonderful. Don't drive there however. The traffic is awful and there's no place to park to unload your bags...the car park they use is 5 or more blocks away, and the directions they give you to get to the car park are very confusing. After we got the car parked, the rest of the stay was wonderful.

The room was clean. The staff were nice. It's good that the WIFi service is complimentary and I could surf in my room comfortably.

good clean hotel but the room was a little stuffy due to the poor air con and the window being locked in the tilt possiton. can get noisy from outside

this hotel thinks that it is enough to put some trendy wall paper at the wall to be a boutique hotel but fails. However lLocation is fine. staff friendly but why are the beds so short (and I am only six feet 1) and are the rooms so hot? if you book over the internet price is fine

This hotel was only a short walk away from Glasgow Central Train Station. It was perfectly positioned for shopping too, with Sauchiehall Street (one of the main shopping streets) just 1 street behind the hotel. The hotel itself has 7 floors, all look identical to eachother. The rooms were very spacious & decorated nicely & fashionably. The reception staff were really helpful & service was good. They recommended some nice nearby places to eat. The room service menu was quite nice, although because I didn't get in until late both nights I stayed there, I was unable to sample the menu! Room service stops @ 10pm, the only thing that's available after this time are cold sandwiches (which are available 24hrs). I would definitely stay here again.

i was staying with my boyfriend at the marks hotel for 2 nights for my birthday and it was great . i could say i loved it. no problems at all my first room was a back room was very pleased but the shower didnt work .. due to this they moved us up stairs to a room at the front of the hotel.. BIG BIG window hehe .. rooms very clean spacious nice decor the only thing i would put down as not liking so much is the furniture the room is soo beautifull.. the furniture just didnt fit .. if the furniture was changed to mach the sexy wallpaper and the feel as a boutique hotel/room this hotel would be on point..

Hotel was in a brilliant location. you simply stepped outside the door turned to your right and all of Sauicehall Street and Buchanan Galleries were a minutes walk away. very safe location bus stop opposite side of street. Room was gorgeous booked a double got a double with two single beds. The food in the restaurant was gorgeous and they did meal deals before a certain time making your money go a long way. Stayed here for 4 nights, didnt book breakfast as we liked to sleep in and get a late one. would defineltely return to this hotel..

Great location, went for a girls weekend, the hotel was a perfect location for us, shops around the corner, short walk to the theatre.

Rooms are quite small, ok for one person overnight. had booked a smooking room but when checking in found out hotel was 100% non-smoking. If i was spending more than 1 night in Glasgow would stay in the Premier Inn it would have been the same price and the rooms are twice the size. Also they have a deal with Buchanan Gallaries Carparking which is 3-4 blocks away yet there is another carpark right next door, and if you get it right, is cheaper to park in.

great central location, very modern and clean, walking distance from shops, train station and bus station. wil be using hotel next time we're in glasgow.

all really well apart from no aircon, and room sevice not making up my room on the 2nd day.

Having stayed at the Mark's hotel previously on a few occassions, I knew what to expect in the way of room cleanliness and comfort. For the first time we went to the restaurant to eat and I was sorely disappointed. We were served drinks in cracked glasses. The waiters were busy chatting to each other, the service was slow, we never got the jug of water we ordered and my steak was like leather. I had a quiet word with the duty manager, who was disinterested in anything I had to say. In the end we got a reduction on our food bill, but given there are lots of places to eat around that area, I doubt I would go back for the food. To top it all the waiter made comments to me, which were not very nice, so best option is just to book a room and eat out

Hotel is in a good location and room was comfortable and quiet. Views from back of hotel not great but this means that they are away from street noise. We would certainly stay there again.

Ideal for a weekend in Glasgow. Close to both stations, shops etc. The car park was a bit of a nightmare to find but once we had negotiated the one way system it is v close to the hotel and with the discount not a bad rate either. I found Bath St a little bit noisy but everyone else in my group slept fine so maybe that is just me! Would probably stay here again.

I never been to glasgow before and I have to say that the hotel was perfect for that, good comfort, efficient staff, well located and most important no surprises!! I would highly recommend this hotel! thanks

My friend and I were very impressed with Marks hotel after our weekend stay. The location is great, close to the train station, shops, bars and restaurants. We had asked for a twin room and actually got a single and double bed. The room was spotless and had a great shower and hairdryer. And although we were on the first floor and right on the street it wasnt noisy at all. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that we had booked a smoking room but there was no ash tray! I would definately recommend this hotel, however, great value for money.

really good location right beside main shopping area and the stop for glasgow flyer bus from the airport. well decorated modern hotel staff friendly enough, good hotel bar with cheap drinks. rooms a bit on the small side but adequate. dont really know what makes this hotel 4 star. never tried any of the food. room did have a hairdryer and iron which was very handy. overall very perfect for people on a budget but who can afford more than a hostel or B&B.

The room was spotlessly clean, we had a room on the 7th floor so it was nice and quiet. The shower was also nice and powerful. The location of the hotel was great, right next to the shops and restaurants. No complaints and would definitely go back there again.

we had a double room which was very well decorated, very clean and very comfortable. The staff were also very polite and friendly.

Our first trip to Glasgow and this hotel was great. Clean, comfortable and located close enough to walk just about anywhere (about 4 blocks from the Buchanan subway stop). Nice rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was limited and a bit too expensive for what was offered but it in no way took away from the hotel itself. Cheap breakfast is easily found in and around the neighborhood.

The title says it all! Me and my mum stayed at this hotel for 2 nights midweek and had a very enjoyable stay. Hotel is in a great position location-wise and even though it's very central with pubs and clubs and busy traffic around we found it very quiet inside the room. Really liked the room, it had everything we needed and was very well laid out as was the bathroom. The only thing i did find was the bed was v.hard and I did find it a bit uncomfortable, although my mum found it ok. We would go back again.

The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. The hotel was better than expected and very good service from all the staff. Food in the resteraunt was very good and value for money. Bar prices very competitive with public bars in the area.

We had a very important business meeting the next day. Unfortunately the hotel experienced a burst pipe which resulted in the alarms going off at 11.30 approx and were awakened and when we phoned reception we were advised to vacate the premises. When we arrived downstairs water was cascading through the reception roof. There were only 3 inexperienced staff on duty and they obviously did not know what to do. The fire brigade arrived 40 mins later. Soon after they allowed us back to our rooms. At around 5am the alarm went off again for 5 mins. We phoned down and was told not to worry. It went off again 15 mins later for 5 mins and we ignored. When we checked out next morning the staff didn't seemed bothered about our experience.and no apology was offered. We wouldn't take the chance staying at this hotel again. For a four star hotel we were very disappointed.

Great Location and friendly staff. Our bathroom door couldnt be locked but apart from that it was a pleasant stay. Some of the sheets had small holes in them but I guess that didnt really matter that much. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained.

Overnight stay for a Friday. Room very clean and reasonably comfortable. Not luxurious by any means but simple and practical. Well priced and would stay again. Staff helpful and friendly, even when they had had a burst pipe and water was cascading into reception.

The hotel is very central. The decor and cleanliness and decor were second to none. It was just a pity our stay was blighted with noisy residents, after numerous calls to the night manager i had to dress and go down to reception to complain only to be told that, "the room doors were fire doors and people don't realize and let them slam". After explaining to the night manager that it was more than a banging door, retired back to bed stating this would sadly be our only stay at their hotel

A well earned shopping trip spoiled by unhelpful bar & restaurant staff (Reception tried their best), Unable to supply a bottle of water! Residents not allowed to cary their drinks to their rooms! Nasty smell of fish in the place!

We found the Marks Hotel on the internet and liked the look of it. We did read some reviews which said that the staff were unfriendly and the rooms not very clean. However, we found the staff to be extremely helpful, appearing at our room within a couple of minutes when we couldn't operate the tv! The room was very clean (& we are quite particular) and the bedding of high quality and beds very comfortable. The room was spacious with a double bed, single bed, small table and two chairs. We didn't eat in the hotel as we had booked room only. We will definitely stay here again.

This was a great hotel with a very modern exterior design that really made it stand out and hence easy to find. Very centrally located, the rooms were lovely and so staff were probably the most friendly and accomodating that I have come across. I need to return to Glasgow at least twice in the next 4 months and we will be staying here.

Very clean, tidy and modern hotel. rooms are very comfortable and bright. Really central for shops and clubs. Only stayed for one night, would stay again

Marks Hotel is right in the centre of Glasgow; I chose it because it was very close to my conference venue, but it would also be very convenient for shopping, theatre, eating out or nightlife. Very high standard for the price. Not quite Malmaison, but at a little over half the price it was a lot closer than I expected. I've paid similar prices for rooms that are little better Holiday Inn Express just because they've had a location as good as this. Marks manages to combine quality and location with a reasonable price. Definitely recommended.

Incredibly noisy hotel (both from street noise and other residents). Probably over-priced as well.

Marks seems to try at being a good hotel, but they just don't have it all together. We had a room adjoining our traveling companions', but noticed several hours after check-in that there was no shower curtain. When we mentioned this, they moved us to a different room - so we packed up again and moved to a different room on the opposite side of the hotel. Much ado for nothing, it seems. The staff were friendly enough, but seemed disjointed.

This hotel may not seem much upon entry but it is a great hotel. The rooms are comfortable and exceeded my expectations. The staff is warm, friendly, and willing to help. The location is just a couple blocks away from the Bus Station, Train Station, Shopping District, Great Food, Movie Theatre, etc. If you want to go somewhere further away, taxis pass every couple of minutes and the front desk will gladly call one for you to be ready to go when you are. The room service is great. If you order hot breakfast for one it will feed two with food to spare. Overall - A great hotel and if I go back to Glasgow, I will surely stay here!

A nice and well presented hotel ideally situated near shopping and nightlife areas. Very comfortable rooms. There was only one lift in operation and it was very slow but that would be nit-picking. Will be back.

Nice hotel in the centre of glasgow. Breakfast was good but expensive !! Room very good size and cleaned to a good standard.

We loved our stay. The rooms were huge, modern and extremely clean. Staff were freindly and helpful. Excelent value for money.

A very nice boutique hotel in the perfect position for exploring all that Glasgow has to offer. The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely individual. The bathroom however was a little dated and not what you expect compared to the individuality of the rest of the hotel, although still perfectly functional. The hotel staff were helpful, although reception seemed unable to cope with more than one person at a time, even with two staff on duty. The hotel bar served very good reasonably priced food, but expensive drinks! All things considered, a great place to stay in a perfect position for exploring all that Glasgow has to offer.

I was very pleased with the friendly staff and chic furnishings of the hotel. The hotel was located very close to shopping and city center attractions. The only request would be for air conditioning, but other than that it was a great hotel for our vacatioin.

Stayed for just one night.Nice sized rooms very clean.Friendly and helpfull staff.Triple rooms excellent for 3 people having a double bed and one single.Very well stocked bar with a really good selection of beers and spirits.good breakfast set you away nicely for the day and decoration was nice and funky.Fair price and very good value for money if you shop around the web.
