Americas Best Value Inn - Athen

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and clean. Good value - will probably stay there again.

We heard noises from the adjacent rooms such as water running, etc. This is an old motel that apparently does not have or has very little insulation in the walls. We were awakened about 6am by the next room's shower noises. Otherwise it was a good rate and seemingly clean.

Wallpaper peeling from walls. No covers on smoke alarm or bathroom fan. Only two light bulbs in bathroom fixture that holds eight. Overall very bad experience. Does not live up to its name America's Best Value. Way over priced.

Hotel staff was very helpful but outside of staff, the hotel itself is completely rundown. The pool was not usable since it was filled with scum and all the pumps were not working. There was only one functioning ice maker that we could locate in the whole hotel so had to ask desk staff for ice. The bed was comfortable and window unit kept the room fairly cool. There was an extremely limited selection at the breakfast bar. We were forced to stay at this hotel as it was the only one available when we were making reservations without having to drive several more miles and it was way overpriced. We will never stay here again.
