I would say that this is an ok hotel but not for everybody. We are a family with two young children - 2 yrs old and 8 months old. We had a few bad experiences but there are also good things to say. Good: 1. Housekeeping is great - fast and delivered all our requests. 2. Nice crib for our 8-month old. It is not the usual pack-and-play. It is big, sturdy and easy to move around. 3. Large area - the bedroom is separate from the sitting area. Bad: 1. One front desk personnel was rude when I said all of a sudden, all our 3 room keys (kept by different people) stopped working. She insisted it is because we put them in our purse. She gave me a new set of keys and without putting them in my purse, I tried them all - nothing worked. Someone else had to re-program the keys before they worked. I came back to the person to say that the problem has nothing to do with where I put my cards and she said, well, that's what we were supposed to say. (Definitely not the type of service I want from a hotel staff.) This whole process took a while and if I didn't have any other family staying in another room, it would be a disaster with two young children. 2. Food court is not accessible when you are with children. 3. Not much to do in the hotel if you don't gamble. Bad/Good: 1. Confusion with valet parking but valet staff was nice and helped resolve the issue.

We had a two-bedroom suite overlooking the water. The views were fantastic and the room was very comfortable. Price is a bit steep but the two-bedroom suite sleeps four comfortably and has a very nice living room for small family gatherings.

We enjoyed our stay - it is close to the airport and we could hear the planes up to about 11:00 p.m. The hotel was under construction, which didn't really pose a problem. My biggest complaint is the lack of places to eat. The food court was pretty good, but they could use a nice place for breakfast - the coffee cafe was not open while we were there. The pool and hot tub were great and overall we had a nice stay - rooms were very nice.

Very nice upon arrival, hotel room was good size, clean and comfortable....casino not too loud and just the right size.

Clean, spacious room. Good value for the money.

One of the best deals in Richmond and right on the Canada Line.

My wife and I went on vacation to Vancouver for our one-year anniversary. Overall, we had a good experience. The room was excellent, and we were happy with our stay overall. There was construction going on at the hotel, but they did a great job keeping it out of sight and sound. The food options weren't great, though we did have a good experience at their high-end restaurant. If we are in Vancouver again, we would stay here again, for sure.

The hotel is under construction. No place to eat. Very far away from everything. Could not get the air conditioning to work. People were very unhelpful and not very friendly.

we stayed at the river rock casino resort as a family of 4. we are not gamblers by any means but this did not effect us in the slightest as the casino is well placed away from hotel. rooms very very clean and staff friendly beyond belief - nothing was to much trouble. there was alot of work going on at the casino in readiness for winter olympics but noise was not a problem. only slight problem was noise from elevator. we could hear this in our room. overall very pleased

I first arrived coming up the back entrance due to a serious backup at the tunnel. The hotel is located in what appeared to be an old industrial area. The service of the staff was outstanding. The minibar in the room was broken and we couldn't use it to keep our items cold during our stay. I placed a call to the front desk and within five minutes a refrigerator was at the door waiting to be used by us. Valet attendants were very polite and I didn't have to change my seat after they drove my car. I had a very cool view of the Vancouver airport from the room, complete with landings and take off occurring directly over our room. The room was mostly sound-proof. The sound from the jets wasn't too bad. The only problem I had was that construction began at 7am and it sounded like these guys were banging on the wall inside my room. Very unpleasant.

Nice rooms, not too expansive but a one room suite was configuable for 2 adults and two kids. We had the least expensive rooms, on the 5th floor, which don't have much a view (a cooling tower) on the East tower, but that was fine for us. We tried two restuarants: the Buffet which is really pricey for families, but is a cut above the usual steam table fare that "buffet" conjures up. We wouldn't do it again - Richmond has great restaurants and this one seem over priced. We also tried the food court - this was surprisingly good (nice stirfrys and noodle dishes), but located in the casino, so your children can't accompany you there. Roughly $10 (CDN) per dish. The riverside location is a bit sketchy, a pretty industrial neighborhood, but nice views of the (industrial) riverfront. Again, not an issue for a family who's interested in Richmond and Vancouver sights. There is a elevated train station under construction just outside the hotal, so it should be very convenient to get into Vancouver in the future. For the kids, there's a nice smaller indoor pool, with a waterslide that entertains, if considerably smaller than commercial waterparks. There are towels and showers at poolside and a basic excercise room just overlooking the pool. Our 7 and 8 year olds loved everything. On balance, we recommend the River Rock: good value, decent location (relative to Vancouver) and decent amenities, in a clean hotel. (The hotel is undergoing construction in August 2009).

If you want to see Vancouver, then don't stay at the River Rock. It is pretty far from downtown and, when we stayed there, the Skytrain did not run to the River Rock. Once it does, it will make downtown Vancouver much more accessible. The rooms were great, the service was great, the casino was fun. But, the neighborhood where the River Rock is located is not any of these things. It is a toss up - if you want a get away at a hotel, stay there. If you want to spend time in Vancouver, stay closer to the city.

River Rock Casino was very convenient to the airport, freeway, and Vancouver. It took about 15 minutes to reach downtown. The one bedroom suite was very nice. The bed was the most comfortable one during our vacation. The hotel was clean, staff courteous, and very quiet. We enjoyed the breakfast in the Casino Food Court. Pool area and marina were both very nice.

Friendly and helpful staff

Everyone is very polite in the hotel. Room is very spacious and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to Vancouver. They will have a metro in Sept 2009 to connect hotel location to downtown Vancouver and also airport. I will give it a five star rating.

Staff was extraordinarily helpful during the check-in process, considering we were traveling in a group of 18 people. The swimming pool provided great joy for the kids, especially the slide. Fitness center was well kept with good view overlooking the pool and the marina.

I was so pleasantly surprised by our room. The king size bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The robes were so comfy. The bathroom was fully equipped with all we needed, even a "quality" hair dryer that could be taken out of the bathroom if necessary. The huge flat screen TV in the living room was great. The pool was so very nice. The water slide was a real treat. The continued construction of the hotel was a bit of a bother, but if the end product is like the rest of the hotel, it will be worth it.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The bed was huge and very comfortable. I really loved the pillows as well. Pillows are often my biggest complaint at hotels but not here. Also the towels in the bathroom were large and very nice. The bathroom was huge with a great tub. My only complaint was that the water in the tub didn't drain fast enough while I showered so I was often standing in a puddle of water. I figure if that's my biggest complaint then the stay was a complete success. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stay here over 8 or so times every year when visiting Vancouver. It's conveniently located in Richmond where all the great Chinese food is found, Richmond is much cleaner and safer than Downtown Chinatown.

AWESOME SERVICE FROM EACH AND EVERYONE IN THE HOTEL.FELT LIKE WE WERE ROYALTIES,GREAT,NEW,CLEAN,SPACIOUS ROOMS,GREAT DECOR,CLEAN,UPSCALE BATHROOMS,BEAUTIFUL POOL AND SLIDE,FUN.NICE BIG CASINO.FREE PARKING WAS A BONUS.ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT RIVERROCK IS LOCATED JUST OUTSIDE CITY,ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN AND THERE IS NOTHING WITHIN WALKING,HOWEVER THERE IS A MALL AND BUNCH OF CHINESE RESTAURANTS WITHIN 5 MINUTES.WE WENT WITH KIDS AND THEY LOVED THIS PLACE ALTHOUGH WE DON'T GAMBLE,IT IS FUN AND DELIGHT TO BE THERE.IF YOU DON'T NEED TO STAY IN DOWNTOWN,STAY HERE.

Would deffinitely stay again.

Beautiful rooms and amenities, the only thing was that it was being renovated which made it somewhat inconvenient, but overall a great place to stay.

The rooms in this hotel are all suites and are beautiful and very modern. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.

The staff was alway smore than helpful and always greeted my wife and I when we encountered them. Will stay here again when we visit Vancouver. We stayed for 3 nights before boarding our cruise ship to Alaska.

Hotel upgraded me to a two bedroom when they saw I was traveling with my kids. Very nice rooms and the beds were so comfortable, the first time I didn't wake up with a backache while in a hotel. Even won some money in the casino !!

Friendly, helpful staff

The hotel is under renovation, which we knew prior to booking. It was VERY quiet and we did not hear any construction noise or airplane noise, considering that it is by the airport. It is a little hard to find given some of the road construction around the hotel. They do charge for valet service which has been a recent change of policy. Free self parking is available in a parking garage across the street. We had paid for a City View Suite and were ungraded to a Marina view which was very nice. Over all, we were very pleased with our stay.

Non-smoking casino was wonderful. However, being far from downtown Vancouver was a bit problematic. There was a lot of construction going on around the hotel which caused some inconvenient. My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights but we could not switch the room for a better view and the receptionist was not helpful. But overall it was a good experience for us. If we stay there again we would ask for room with a view.

The casino area was very attractive. The pool and slide was very enjoyable especially for little ones. There was a lack of reasonable eating choices in the hotel. The check in process and parking was chaotic. We completed the check in process and then were told the room wasn't ready. The concierge is set up for international guests. English wasn't the easiest way to communicate.

We stayed at River Rock for the night and saw a show at their theater. Everything was great from the comfy bed to the fantastic food at the restaurant. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only complaint was that the TV's were old. This wasn't a very big deal since we didn't spend much time watching TV.

I was quite impress with the hotel cleanliness the room is great

The 1 bed room suite is spacious. However, it seems that the one bedroom suites with walk-in shower is bigger than those with tub. We needed a tub to bathe our kids so we had to change room, and that's how we found out. We had been to the hotel a few times before and stayed in their 2 room suites. They were all nice, clean and comfortable. If I had to complain, then the distance between the parking garage and hotel rooms was some distance and without cover during expansion. It's particularly not fun when it was raining. Valet parking used to be free for hotel guests, this time we learned that it would $12 a day; that's too high in my opinion. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay.

We choose this hotel to be in the area near the airport. This hotel is not the closest to the airport but of the choices it appeared to be the best. We were not disappointed in the hotel. The greeting at the reception desk was friendly and helpful. The room, a suite, booked at the lowest rate was very nice. We especially liked the space since we had been on a cruise ship for five days. The casino, which is part of the building was nice and smoke free. The location is not the most desirable even though there was a nice view of boats at dock out our windows. The taxi cost($13)is high for the short (4km) ride to the airport. Also, the distance to a bus stop is 2-3 blocks away. We would suggest using the bus to travel in the area if you want to avoid the high cost of taxis in the Vancouver area. The taxi cost from the cruise terminal to this hotel is approximately $50. The hotel does not have a shuttle to the airport or cruise terminal, but it does have a shuttle to a shopping area.

Sheets on sofa bed had a couple of blood spots. The toilet wasn't flushing, had to take the lid out and needed to pull something in order to refill the water.

The elevators and parking were a pain due to the renovations. Quite a bit walking to the new parking lot without cover (rain seasons). Receptions moved to the 3rd floor, which created more busy traffic for the elevators, the elevators waiting time needed improvement. The room we checked in, found no water in the toilet tank, have to call for maintenance. Didn't take him long to fix it, however, this should be discovered when the housekeeping is done cleaning, not until the guests checked in and found the problems.

The staff was very friendly. We stayed in the executive suit. The elevators were a pain because we went on a show night but other than that everything was great. My husband and I played blackjack for the first time and the Dealer was so friendly and great to explain the rules to us. The pool as also beautiful. If you have kids they will love it. If you are staying in the hotel the valet parking is free. It is exactly 100 miles from Oak Harbor WA so it is closer to go there than it is to go to Seattle. The NON Smoking casino is WAY better than WA casinos. FANTANSIC HOTEL will definatley go again.
