Gute Lage des Hoters.Ca 5 min zum Empire State und Flatiron Building.Winzige Zimmer-aber in NY in der Preisklasse normal.Großes Manko-NUR ein Etagenbad pro Etage-Sehr wenig.

Absolut empfehlenswertes Hotel wenn man eine günstige, zentral gelegene Unterkunft in Manhattan sucht, und sich nur zum Schlafen im Hotelzimmer aufhalten will. Die Zimmer sind klein aber sehr sauber, mit täglich frischen Handtüchern und Bettlaken. Wir hatten ein Badezimmer mit Dusche und Klo auf dem selben Flur, das ebenfalls täglich gereinigt wurde. Einzige Nachteile:Die Zimmerfenster zum Innenhof konnte man leider nicht öffnen, dafür funktioniert die Klimaanlage. Das Doppelbett selbst und die Matratze haben schon bessere Zeiten erlebt- aber für 1 Woche durchaus o.k.

Das Latham-Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen. Das Empirestate-Building ist nur ca. 5 Gehminuten entfernt. Bis zur nächsten Subway-Station sind es ca. 100 m. Die Zimmer sind einfach eingerichtet, aber sauber. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich.

Das Hotel liegt sehr günstig. Man kann viel zu Fuß "abarbeiten" und hat mehrere Subway-Linien in der Nähe. Wir hatten ein ruhiges Zimmer mit (lauter) Klimaanlage. Einen Safe kann man an der Rezeption mieten. Internetnutzung und Telefonieren innerhalb der Stadt (z.B. für Reservierungen) waren inclusive. Täglich wurden die Handtücher gewechselt.

Durch die zentrale Lage konnte man überall zu Fuß hingehen. Das Hotelzimmer war ok ,sauber- für New York schon als groß zu bezeichnen. Das Bett war weich (wer's mag), nur die Tagesdecke war etwas dreckig. Das Bad war sehr schön und sauber - leider shared bathroom und des öfteren verstopfte (glücklicherweise nicht sichtbar) Toilette. Aber die Servicekräfte haben das schnell behoben. Saubere Dusche. Keine Nachbarn gehört - gute Wände. Waschbecken in Zimmer, ebenso Einbau-Kleiderschrank. Für den Preis sehr empfehlenswert !

Kleine, sehr einfache aber saubere Zimmer. Achtung, das Bett war mit ca 180cm ganz schön kurz. Die Lage ist sehr zentral in Manhattan. Gleich um die Ecke befinden sich ein chinesiches Schnellrestaurant, eine Frühstücksmöglichkeit, U-Bahn-Stationen und das Empire State Building.

Für Manhattan bietet das Hotel ein gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Die Zimmer sind in einem akzeptablen Zustand, wobei man hier nicht viel erwarten darf. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad. Das war ok, sauber und wurde jeden Tag geputzt. Das Personal war freundlich, unserer Bitte nach Late-Checkout wurde nachgekommen. Supermarkt/Cafe ist im selben Gebäude.

Die Rezeption ist 24 Stunden besetzt, was gut war, denn mein Flug aus Paris hatte ziemliche Verspaetung. Mein Zimmer war zwar sehr klein, aber es war sehr sauber und ich hatte ein Telefon, Fernseher, Klimaanlage und ein Waschbecken. Zwar hatte mein Zimmer keine Toilette und Dusche, aber das Badezimmer auf dem Flur, was ich mit anderen Gaesten teilte, war auch in sehr guter Verfassung.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Leider hatten wir wärend unserem 6-tägigen Aufenthalt und zu einer sehr kalten Jahreszeit an einem Tag weder warmes Wasser noch eine warme Heizung.

aber für mehr auch nicht. Für den Preis fand ich das Zimmer in Ordnung. Es war sauber und ordentlich, jedoch ist die Einrichtung und Ausstattung sehr alt. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit gewesen. Mein Zimmer hatte zwar ein Fenster, aber aufgrund des hohen Gebaeudes neben an und der ca. 2,5 Meter entfernten Wand kannte es weder Tag noch Nacht. Also immer dunkel. Das Bad ist sehr Antik, aber zum duschen absolut ausreichend und wie gesagt kann man wegen der Sauberkeit nichts sagen! Wenn man in New York ist, braucht man ja auch nur einen Platz zum schlafen und ist sonst eh unterwegs. Mein Fazit somit absolut ausreichend und für den Preis optimal. Sehr positiv ist auch die sehr zentrale Lage direkt in der Nähe vom Empire. Man kann alles bequem zu Fuß erreichen und die U-Bahn ist um die Ecke.

Das Latham liegt direkt an der 5th Ave., 4 Blocks com Empire nach Norden und 2 Blocks vom "Bügeleisen" nach Süden. Die Lage ist ideal und die Zimmer sind auch vergleichsweise groß! Das Hotel ist eines der größeren mit 12 Etagen und der Service / Empfang ist rund um die Uhr besetzt und freundlich. Ich hatte schon mehrere wesentlich kleinere Hotels in New York, die für den gleichen Preis nicht so großzügig eingeräumt waren! Die Zimmer mit Bad haben auch eine Wanne, statt nur einer Dusche und man kann sich in beiden Räumen ohne Platzangst bewegen, was leider in den wenigsten "günstigen" Hotels in New York der Fall ist! Absolut zu empfehlen! (Einen Palast darf man zu dem Preis natürlich nicht erwarten!)

Alle Mitarbeiter waren überaus freundlich und zuvorkommend. Hotel super zentral.

wir waren mit dem zimmer mit bad zufrieden. bad und schlafraum waren sauber. das bad wurde jeden tag geputzt und die handtücher gewechselt. servicepersonal war bei organisation des flughafentransfers hilfreich. trotzdem sollte man nicht zuviel erwarten, es ist immernoch ein new yorker low budget hotel.

Dadurch das ich schoneinmal in NY war, war ich auf das schlimmste gefasst. Für ein doppelzimmer war das bett definitiv zu klein,(durch einen unfall konnte meine reisebegl.jedoch eh nicht mit) ausserdem bin ich von zwei getrennten betten ausgegangen. Was jedoch praktisch war, war eine recht grosse minibar, sowie auch recht gr.fernseher und eine klimaanlage. Die sauberkeit lässt zu wünschen übrig, aber man ist ja auch nicht den ganzen tag auf dem Zimmer. Würde es definitiv wieder buchen, da sehr Zentral gelegen! Empire St.Building und nächste Metro in fünf min. erreichbar.

Actually it depends on the price you pay. Location is perfect. Staff is quit friendly. Hotel itself not bad, except for elevator that is practically one and too slow. I was on business trip and I took chip room with shared bathroom. I will never do this. I had to wake up at 5.00 in the morning to be sure that I can take a shower. Shared bathroom means: “compartment with shower and toilet that you share with at least 4 rooms”. (I had an impression that with 8 rooms). If you come as a tourist and you do need to be at the meeting in the morning – it is okay. However, next time in business trip in New York I will prefer to pay twice higher in this hotel than to have “shared bathroom” .

This by far is the worst hotel I have been to in my 27 years of living and I have traveled all over the world. First problem was the fact that we had to use a community shower and we werent informed and we diddnt have shower shoes with us. That was very nasty and unsanitary. Next problem we faced was the fact that we found bugs in our bed. We diddnt recive money back that day all we got was a letter claiming that we will get a full refund for the room. The fact that there was bugs in the sheets shows that the sheets were proably not changed and that the hotel cleanliness was not up to standard. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone it is below a one star hotel. I cant believe for the price we paid we had to share a shower and bathroom with a whole floor of people. Its just disgusting to find bugs in a bed your suppose to sleep in and no accomdations where made until we got really upset and demanded a refund. I suggest as I told the person I talked to on the phone from hotels.com that this hotel should not be on the site. I know its a 1 1/2 star hotel but this was just disgusting.

This hotel is what it claims to be - a budget hotel. If you go expecting more, you will be disappointed. However if you expect basic comfort, cleanliness and what you paid for basically, you will be satisfied. The rooms are a little worn, the decor not great but the rooms are cleaned daily and the towels and sheets are changed daily. The bed is comfortable and the hotel is safe. The shower was a bit weak but we managed. The air conditioning is loud but such a relief after the heat of outside. We were so tired when we went to bed that the noise didnt affect us. The hotel staff were helpful and pleasant and happy to assist. The hotel does house single mums and their children. They were all polite and quiet. The children were well behaved and a pleasure to talk to. The elevator is a bit slow....but who wants to rush on holiday! The location is excellent. Turn left out of the hotel onto 5th Avenue and see the Empire State building. Times Square, with all its entertainment and shopping opportunities, is a 15 minute stroll away. Overall, a fantastic holiday!

For the price, it's a great deal. it all depends on what floor you get and the location of the room. I would stay there again for that price.

Great location. Otherwise, the worst travel experience of my life. Smelled strongly of armpits snd pine cleaner. Dark spooky hallways. No hot water in the mildewed shower. Air con made weird noises all night. Some sort of homeless shelter for women and children located inside the building. Next time I'll spend the extra money and stay somewhere else.

The hotel was old, and not charming, but clean and functional. Get a room with a private bath. I was glad I did. There is just one shared bath per floor. You don't come to NYC to wait for the bathroom. The room was not cramped, with plenty of drawer space. Don't expect a desk, a view (my view was a blank wall), more than one public elevator, or a new mattress. It was a good, quiet place to sleep and clean up on a budget. Close to subway lines N,W,R, and 6. Very close to Madison Square Park, which is beautiful and shady. The neighborhood felt safe late at night.

Had a great two night stay at this hotel. Fantastic location - a few blocks away from the subway and close to 5th Avenue and Broadway streets. Elevator in the hotel was very slow and hot and the hotel was also old but my room was clean and had everything I needed. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

If you are single and easy going, and wanted a cheap hotel and great location, here's the place. Hotel staffs are friendly. But the interior is old and bed is not very comfortable.

More a youth hostel than an hotel. I got a room with a private bath. Great place to stay for an overnight visit to NYC. Small room, no-frills. Both room and bath were clean. Very friendly staff.

Very close to wre i want to go. very cheap, hope the price wont change , if they change the price range they will lose clients. I can deal with shared bathroom for the money i paid thats okay. Room is okay BUT THEY NEED TO FIX The AIRCONDITION ITS MAKING A LOT of NOISE. Thats The room 1011. But over all is great , staff are friendly. SUGGESTION IS: if you wanna stay with latham you must bring a lysol disinfectant spray, for toilet seat use, for safety reason, spray the toliet seat first before you sit on it. Im sure will comeback with latham very safe and clean, friendly. I stay there for one week. thanks.

Old hotel with small room.

Bad sevice, too expensive. bad location.

When we were looking for places to stay in New York it was really hard to find anywhere that wasn't ultra expensive, so we were really pleased to find the Latham in such a brilliant location. It is round the corner from the Empire State Building and a really handy place to stay. The hotel is functional, but you do get what you pay for, so we were very realistic going. Our rooms were clean and basic. There was quite a lot of noise from a generator outside, but we soon got used to it. We were sharing a bathroom with the floor and often had to queue, particularly in the mornings between 8.30 and 11am, so as long as you weren't in a huge rush to get out it was ok. The bathrooms were very clean and the shower powerful! A couple of nights we were woken up to arguments in the corridors (from the house which is attached to the hotel, there appear to be a number of young families also living in the building). All in all, it is basic and functional but a brilliant location, and to find a hotel this price was a real find in central Manhattan.

The room was tiny, dirty and small, got to share bathroom with 4 other rooms, plus the shower smell like piss, instead of 2 twin size bed, they only have bunk bed for 2, i would not consider stay in this one again.

With the money I saved by staying at the Latham I was able to shop more! I don't think I would stay there with a significant other because of the shared bathroom. It was surprisingly quiet, the staff were great. A little odorous but not too bad.

If you're looking to experience the city, and won't be in your room very often, then this is the hotel for you. The room is small, the bed is uncomfortable, but the service is excellent! The location is brilliant, with a great view of the Empire State Building just around the corner, and the Madison Park about 2 blocks away. Located just between 23rd and 28th st metro stops you are a walk away from the 4, 5, and 6, and only a few stops from anywhere else you'd like to see.

Latham is okay for a very very very last minute hotel booking. Quad rooms are a little weird there but I didn't know what to expect coming into a room like so. It was just 2 cheap metal bunk beds shoved into a small room but then again it is new york. For the same amount of money spent at Latham, after review and other experiences of hotels you can find a better place for the buck. Its also weird because it seems as though Latham serves as an operating apartment complex as well. I only recommend this hotel if its a last minute situation.

I'd read a mixture of reviews of this hotel but went with an open mind. The location is good, close to Subway lines 4, 5, 6 for travelling north and south, and the neighbourhood is safe. If anything, this hotel brings down the whole area. The rooms are small, badly kept, with threadbare carpet, a cheap bed, thin blanket and single pillow, making me feel like I was in a prison cell rather than hotel. On the plus side the air conditioning and TV worked and there was very little noise from neighbouring rooms, but the noise from next doors air-conditioning system was deafening. The mothers with children kept to themselves, but there were so many waiting in the lobby every eveneing, it was depressing whenever I returned from a great day in the city. I ended up dreading the return and counted down the nights I was there. I didn't let it spoil the NY experience but would definitely pay more money for a better hotel.

I stayed here overnight for a concert, and I have to say, The Latham Hotel is the perfect spot for overnight stays! It's in a safe, quiet neighborhood near Gramercy, close to food, shopping, entertainment etc.! The room and bathroom were SPOTLESS! And there is a nice, deep clawfoot tub! The front desk staff was courteous and friendly! The room may be small, but if all you're looking for is a comfy place to sleep and maybe a relaxing bath, I would HIGHLY recomment this place! And there's a little Chinese food spot right next door too! Next time I visit the city, I will definately look into staying here again!

Arrived at 1.00 am as we were 5 hours late. Staff was friendly and we were checked in with no fuss. The room was pretty small, clean and comfortable. It was cleaned every day and we had clean towels every day as well. The location is great - so close to the Empire State building, it is the first thing you see when you exit the hotel and go left. The neighborhood seemed fine. There is a very nice cafe on the corner of the street the hotel is on that does amazing breakfast. We went there every morning. Close, cheap and very nice. I did get bitten by something three times. Not sure what it was, and one night the heat came on at 4.00 am and work us up as the pipes made so much noise. A good pair of ear plugs will do you wonders. I would definitely stay here again. A great location and very cheap. If you are looking for places to eat around Latham, walk straight down to Lexington Avenue, there are lots of restaurants there. (Look out for wine prices though...)

This was my first time staying in a hotel with a shared bathroom. I found this hotel to be comfortable and a nice stay. The staff was helpful and nice. The bathroom was very nice and clean. I would stay again on my next trip to the city.

the "windows" of my room were facing immediately the backside of the neighbouring building, it was so dark that i even couldnt see what the things were. in the early morning i could clearly hear the yell of pigeons resting on the window corners... the bed was neither comfortable. the condition of the hotel was worse than all the HOSTELS that I stayed before. Wouldn't recommend people who come for LEISURE...

Great price for a midtown hotel. If you are planning on bringing the wife or a lady significant other, maybe is not the best place to stay. This hotel is really what New York is! I would guess that the building is at least 100 years old, and that has its appeal. It felt as if you stepped in back in time. Not bad at all, clean and lovely.

Great central location. Close to everything. The subway is really close and you can take this everywhere. The staff were very helpful. The room was very clean. It was cleaned every day. The shared bathroom was spotless, and the shower was great. Hot water all the time. We never had to wait once for the bathroom which was nice. The elevators were a bit slow, but nothing too annoying. Its an old building. We were out most of the days, but the hotel was a great base. I have no complaints about the latham hotel. If you are on a budget, this is the place for you. Great location, great price, and very clean.

I had been stuck without a hotel, in the freezing cold, in a business suit, high heels, and my suitcase. This place had a great rate, was clean, and the people were very friendly. If you're looking for the Ritz, this isn't it. But considering many of the lower priced hotels I've stayed in in Manhatten, the Latham was a gem. It's not going to look like a standard hotel. It's an old building and there's no hiding it, but overall, I really enjoyed my stay there. Plus, it was next to the subway station, near great food, and it was warm and clean.

This hotel was very affordable and actually pretty clean. The neighboring guests weren't so pleasant but the hotel itself was pretty great for the price. I would definitely stay there again.
