Die sicherlich bekanntesten Wahrzeichen New York Citys finden sich nördlich der 14. und südlich der 59. Straße bzw. in Midtown Manhattan.

Central location in Midtown Manhattan (100 meter to next Subway station 34th Street), comfortable beds, clean and nice room without outside noise (14th floor). unfortunately windows can't be opened to get fresh air. Breakfast buffet is fine (the waffels are good) with eggs and ham, cereals, yoghurt, bagels, fruits etc. Free internet access (two computers at business centre). Fitness centre is also fine. No pool. We enjoyed the Live performance of Flamenco dance and singing (free of charge) on Thursday night at the Hotel restaurant. Together with my 3 children (10, 13 and 15) we had a great time spending 6 nights here.

Had a nice stay there, but there were a few issues that were bothersome. First, although the fitness room had a weight machine it was not working properly and I reported this as such and hopefully it has now been fixed. Secondly, if you plan on going to bed before midnight then be sure you are far away from the restaurant. We were on the 5th floor and could clearly hear the loud music from the restaurant until at least midnight every night (including weekdays). Luckily we are night owls and were up anyway. As mentioned in other posts there is poor cell phone service in the hotel, but they do give you free long distance from the hotel phone while you are there. The breakfast buffet was nice, but demand often exceeded supply and you had to move quickly to get yogurt or pastries. The belgian waffle machine is great though and I enjoyed waffles every day! Location is great, and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

First of all I would like to point out that this was our first time going to NYC, and finding a hotel can be very confusing. After reading the reviews on this hotel, we decided it had everything we were looking for. The hotel staff was super nice always greeted you with a smile. It had a free breakfast buffet also, which was a big plus (eggs, waffles, toast, sausage, bagels, cereal, fruit, danishes, & lots of different beverage choices). A Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are also nearby. We had a room with a king bed and although the rooms are small we never felt cramped or uncomfortable. The bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean and it had a small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. The hotel also has free internet access, and also has 2 computers with printers in their business center which both have free internet also, this was great as we didn't have to lug our laptop on the trip with us. The hotel is located 1 or 2 short blocks to Penn Station and MSG, we took the train into Penn Station so we just walked right to our hotel with our luggage. A subway stop is also the next block over which would take you right to Times Square which is about 7 blocks away. If you choose not to use the subway, it is about a 10min. walk to times square, but it is a nice walk with lots of shops and such along the way. The hotel is also located on a quiet side street, so it was not noisy whatsoever. All in all we were completely satisfied with our choice of hotel and location and will definitly be back in the future.

Hotel was conveniently located in the Garment District. One block from Macy's and one and half blocks from the Empire State Building. Subway was only half a block away, which we used to visit WTC memorial and Battery Park (Where you board a ferry for the Statue of Liberty). Only complaint was a toilet handle that was starting to fail that needed replacement. I had one room with our sons (Streetside) and my wife had another with our daughters (Back of hotel). Streetside room did experience street noise (including garbage trucks) and rear room experienced loud music on Thursday and Friday night coming from Hotel lounge. Other than that, hotel stay was very good.

I have been to NYC quite a few times now, and I have stayed at a different hotel everytime because I have never been quite satisfied. But now I have found a hotel I will use EVERYTIME I come back to visit. This hotel has much more room than most NYC hotels...it is very clean...has a free in room safe...an excellent "hot" free breakfast...discounted parking that is a good rate for the location...all subways are very close...and great hotel location...it is a great value!!!

This is probably the finest value for a dollar anywhere to be found. The hotel is virtually brand new in an area about 4 blocks from Times Square. The staff is thorough, fast and extremely polite. The quality of appointments in the rooms, bathrooms, all hallways and lobby was far beyond our expectations. The continental breakfast each morning was like a continental feast. On my vacation I stayed at 6 different hotels, and this one exceeded all other hands down.

The Wingate is a block from Macy's and Penn Station, and a short (5 block) walk to the Javits Center. The rooms are a nice size, phone calls are free, and there is a terrific sushi restaurant right around the corner on Eighth Avenue. Without having a lot of frills, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and fairly quiet, with just a handful of rooms on each floor. The continental breakfast is not great, but I don't go to New York to eat in the hotel anyway. The customer service staff was warm and welcomed me every time I went in or out. Overall, one of the most laid-back, enjoyable hotel experiences I've had in NYC. If you don't need the pool and sauna or all that jazz, I recommend the Wingate.

Stayed Memorial weekend 2009. I've used a number of hotels in the area over the last few years and this is undoubtedly the best. Comfortable, clean and good sized rooms at an excellent rate ($160 per night). Great location (2 minutes from Macy's, 5 minutes from Empire State and 10 minutes from Times Square). Dining area was being redecorated at the time of the visit, but the hot complimentary breakfast was an added bonus and was fine. Hotel is 5 minutes from Penn Station, very useful if you're coming in from one of the airports. Will definitely stay here again when visiting.

I would reccomend this hotel to others the bed was great, as was the free internet and breakfast. There was some noise from a garbage truck around 1130 pm but being that I was on the 17th floor it did not bother me too much. But don't waste your money on a loft style room it's a big ripoff the ceiling is only one foot taller than the standard rooms.

With the exception of the friendly front desk personnel (Thanks to Kristina for all her help!), this hotel is not worth the cost. It is not until you check in that you find out there is NO CELL SIGNAL in the rooms - NONE - so you cannot get/receive cell calls unless you EXIT the building and the "free" wireless internet is probably "free" because it is WOEFULLY UNRELIABLE and will disconnect you randomly and OFTEN, making internet use impossible within the room. OH - and there is no room service as well. I suppose if you are just looking for a place to sleep - this will do. Otherwise, save your money and check in at the Comfort Inn on 25th Street between Broadway and 6th Avenue instead.

We spent 3 nights here in March and have no complaints of any sort. The room was spacious and clean, the breakfast good(get there early as it fills up quickly), the staff polite and the location fine. There was a gym, a business center and wi-fi which were all free to guests. Times Square and all theatres were within walking distance and we actually walked to both Central Park and Battery Park but there are tubes and buses that run regularly and are clean and tidy. NY has improved so much in recent years that visitors feel much safer and there are so many police on the streets it is very reassuring for the more nervous traveller. We have visited NY many times and have to say that the Wingate was one of our favourites so far.

I found the Wingate by Wyndham Manhatten Midtown to be a wonderful, calm place in the midst of frantic life. Located a short walk from both Times Square and Broadway it sits back from the street and allows you a respite from the busy Manhatten streets. I loved being able to park my car, and then walk when and where I wanted to nearby places, but then return to the hotel whenever I wanted to catch my breath. The front desk personnel were courteous, friendly, answered all my questions, and were very patient, considering my daughter de-magnetized her room key twice during our two night stay!! I plan to stay here whenever I can get to NYC again. And I've told my wife we can go more often now!! By the way, the continental breakfast was delicious and really ample!!! It really got me ready to face the snow as the 7 inches fell.

We stayed at the Wingate for about a week in late January 2009. For NYC the cost of the room was a pretty good deal, although the hotel is in need of some love. It is a small hotel located on 35th street which is a tiny one-way street in Mid-Town. You can't find cabs here (also there is no concierge/door-person), and in the morning when it is 15 degrees, it stinks to have to walk a couple blocks to find a cab. Also the staff is a bit unprofessional. They play loud techno/dance music in the lobby all the time, it is not very soothing. And in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the big city, returning to a comfortable and soothing hotel is a necessity. Our rooms were ok, the size was reasonable, but the rooms were a little dirty, the shower had a ton of mold/mildew that was never properly cleaned and the carpets were kinda gross. Also, the biggest annoyance was the fact that we did not have a cell signal in our room at all. Absolutely no cell phone connection or continuous dropped calls... so annoying. Overall, I'd say this little hotel is not bad for the price, but not that great either.

First visit to NYC in a long time. Not wanting to spend a king's ranson found this hotel and chose this hotel due to proximity to MSG and other landmarks. Staff was friendly and room was better than advertised. Elevator could have used a cleaning, but I wasn't staying in the elevator. My wife and I was shocked at breakfast to see the number of teenage girls at breakfast. I mentioned this because we never heard them at all. In fact we heard no one during our stay and our room was right outside the elevator. More wait staff should be scheduled on the weekend during breakfast. Having one person bus tables and keep the food replenished is a little much. Next trip to NYC will probably included this hotel on my agenda.

This is the first time we have used this hotel and would certainly use it again. The hotel could not have been handier for accessing New York. There was a Metro station approx 300yards from the hotel which had a direct link to and from JFK airport and the same distance at the opposite end of the road was Macy's. Apart from these bonus points the hotel was central for accessing all other sites in New York. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful, breakfast was also supplied which was a bonus as it gave you a good start for the days sightseeing ahead.

They went out of their way to store our luggage while we toured and were very informative on subway routes, restaurants. The room was clean and newly decorated. The beds were very comfortable. Although we had no view - we were so exhausted at night - we didn't even care. Very quiet hotel. I would definitely stay here again - and I am very, very picky where I stay.
