The principal reason for staying at his hotel is its preeminent position next to the airport. It is convenient to nothing else. The high rates reflect this convenience of not having to pay taxi fares. It is only a short walk (1/2 block?) to the airport terminal from the entrance to the hotel. The decor is dated and needs a facelift--inside and out. The French restaurant on the top floor serves very good food at very high prices. The views are OK, not special.

The only reason to stay at this hotel is the convenience- right at the airport- and the fact that the beds are probably the best in Greece. The lobby and restaurant areas are beautiful; the hallways and rooms need updating, especially the carpets. This lack of attention tarnishes what is otherwise an outstanding hotel, and is unexpected at a five star facility.

The hotel is beautiful, clean and perfectly located for airport travelers. The rooms are excellent. The staff is professional and courteous. The hotel is way overpriced but if you have a 6 AM flight with your family - what else are you going to do? - and they know it.

The entire staff was wonderful! The location of the hotel is great for very early flights out of Athens. The room was good and very quiet. One small issue was we went into Athens City for day and had dinner and when we wanted to leave around 9:30pm had some trouble finding a cab to take us back to Sofitel Airport hotel. Make sure to get a business card from Sofitel Cab company to make arrangements when coming back.

Great room for the money...

Pricey, but if you have an early morning flight, it is worth it. Not only is it very nice and very close (2 minute walk) from the airport, but Athens is about an hour away, so staying there then going to the airport super early is a huge pain.

The hotel was exceptional in every way. They staff is extremely nice and the rooms are very well done. They are comfortable and modern and allow you to relax in a luxurious atmosphere.

We stayed here for one night en-route to a greek island. The hotel is of an excellent standard, rooms very clean and with all usual amenities, staff very efficient. Would recommend it to anyone.

The price is high but worth it for the convenience and comfort. I had an early morning flight and all I had to do was walk across the street. They have a lovely pool and spa on the 9th floor that gave me the chance to unwind before my long overseas flight the next day.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Sofitel. It was short, but a great place to sleep, and a good break from the typical size and comfort level of other European hotels. We loved the location--literally steps outside the airpot. We had a late flight arrival in Athens, and an early bus the next morning, so the Sofitel was the perfect place for us to sleep!

Lovely, lovely hotel. The rooms are clean and modern with a GREAT bathroom. The location is directly across from the airport, so no shuttle or taxi is needed. The food at the hotel is astronomically priced, however. However, the airport has a nice food court in it and one can simply go back across the street and find anything one wants to eat and dring. The hotel is also on the Metro line, so for 10 Euros per person, one can take a trip into Athens.

If you have to deal with an incredibly early flight in Athens, as we did, I cannot recommend this Sofitel highly enough. I've stayed at other Sofitels, and have had good experiences, but this one was outstanding. Front desk: We arrived at 9 a.m. after a brutally early flight from Tel Aviv, and the clerk never uttered the words "official check-in time." We were checked in immediately, efficiently, and cheerfully. The room: Big, lovely--separate toilet and bath. The bath is wonderful: huge shower stall with separate tub as well as rainhead shower in the ceiling, plus usual handhelds. Excellent products: shaving kit, toothbrush and toothpaste, L'Occitane bath products, sewing kit, etc. Robes and slippers. Mini-bar available, though we didn't use it. Great noise insulation. Never heard a neighbor or anyone in the hall, though the hotel was busy. A bar and two restaurants on the premises. We tried both restaurants, which are pricey, but good. Newspapers available in the lobby in multiple languages, and free to read. There is a small, nice pool and a sauna, free of charge. A spa, treatments, etc. available as well. We went up just to look at the pool when we arrived, and the women who work in the spa came out and brought us glasses of mineral water with fresh fruit--just because. I love this kind of service. The negatives: 1. the restaurants are very expensive, and border on snooty. Kind of out of sync with the tourist crowd that is there, maybe more suited to the business crowd. 2. Also, in keeping with the trend of expensive hotels charging the most for internet, internet connection is 18 euros a day (!). They do provide a terminal on the 9th floor where you can get 15 minutes for free, though. 3. The TVs needed updated. To be clear: the hotel is not near the city, so if you're just doing the tourist thing, save some euros and stay in town. But, if you need to stay at the hotel, nothing like being able to walk across the street or from the airport.

Sofitel was a nice, clean hotel near the airport which made it convenient for us as we were traveling in / out of Athens. Our rate was relatively fair for a Sofitel, but I have to say - the cost they charge for internet is outrageous! Of the four hotels we stayed at, Sofitel was the only one which didn't include internet in the room rate, and for a "luxury" property, I feel it should. Rate was 18 Euros a day on top of the room, and they tried to tell me I'd charged it twice in less than 24 hours! Other than that, it was fine.

We chose this hotel because we had an early flight and it's a brief walk from the airport. It was clean and comfortable and met our expectations. The only thing I would have liked was coffee in the lobby in the early am.

This hotel is very nice although it is fairly expensive. However, the location across the street (literally) from the airport makes it worthwhile for an early morning flight. We found the staff to be very nice and helpful. I would only recommend if you need to be close to the airport for late arrival, early departure situations.

Top quality Hotel. Would definitely stay here again. A breeze to walk to from the Airport.

Wonderful airport hotel - if you need to be close to the airport, couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay.

We stayed at this hotel because of the location to the Athens airport. Could not be more convenient -- right out the front door. Made it very easy to check in for a 7am flight!!

This hotel was wonderful. We were staying overnight from a late flight and were taking a morning flight out the next day. The staff members were exceptional.

This is a very convenient hotel situated near the metro which only costs 3euros for 24hrs travel on any of the transport systems. There is also a bus stop outside the hotel. The breakfast had a good selection of continental and hot buffet. Hotel staff were helpful. There is a good selection of restaurants in the area.

Excellent location to airport. Noisy fan. Limited selection in resturant.

Location: Perfect for being 'right there' for a flight out of Athens; literally steps away from the airport. This is no the place to stay when touring Athens. Staff: Very nice and accommodating. I had a challenge with an order in the Mesoghaia (ground floor) that was cleared up by the waiter with no questions. Food: Our meal in Mesoghaia was very good, but pricy (but it is either here or airport food; we did not try Karavi (9th floor) because of the expense. Public areas: Granted, this is a travel hotel (i.e., next to the airport), but it is a Sofitel. It was built prior to the Athens Olympics and the public areas are in need of repairs and updating. Repairs: walls are beat-up, ceilings patched and poorly repaired, etc. Mesoghaia needs a complete re-do; the decor is kitschy and a mix of 'try this, it looks Greek...or Floridian.' Again, it's a Sofitel. The room: Very nice and very quiet considering your view is the airport. We never heard noise outside. Big bathroom facilities. The spa area: The massage rooms are right off the pool. When we were there three persons were post-massage on the pool chairs, and the area was completely silent. It was my choice, but I did not use the pool because of these persons in their Zen state; I did not even speak out loud. Again, my choice, but the post-massage space should be separate from the spa. Also I wish there has been an area of the pool with water-jets.

My family has stayed at this hotel several times. It is a bit pricey, but it is so convenient to the airport, right across the street. Are flight arrived Athens late and we just had to walk across the street and we where there. Better then having to jump into a cab at such a late hour. The next day we had a morning flight back to NY and we just walked across the street to check in our bags and walked back to the hotel and have breakfast. As a matter of fact, we even had time to go back to our room and have the kids relax before a long flight back to the States. Restuarant at the hotel is very, very expensive.

Lives up to its reputation. Restaurant severely overpriced.

All of the employees were very nice and spoke english well. The room was nice and quiet; loved the bathroom with the shower head on the ceiling. Average price for the food and drinks for the quality of the hotel. Over all my husband and i enjoyed the stay.

The smell of smoke in the lobby was bothersome. The restaurant on the main floor had excellent food. The room was fantastic! However, the couple traveling with us didn't have much luck with their room. The shower/bathroom overflowed and had to be moved to a different room.

The hotel is located outside the arrival area of the airport. You can walk to it easily. The rooms are very comfortable.

The hotel itself is fine: Very modern and extremely convenient if you have a very early flight out of Athens (As we did). The room rate was quite good given the quality of the accommodations, but the restaurants on site seemed priced a bit too high. With no other option for breakfast when we rose at 5am we went to the hotel's 24 restaurant for self serve coffee and a couple of croissants and found ourselves hit with a 24 euro charge ($36 after conversion).

So comfortable and so very convenient, especially when one must take an early morning flight. We got a great nights rest before our long flight home.

This hotel is excellent, although it will cost you a lot more than many hotels in Athens. It is comfortable, clean, and has good food. Most remarkable of all, it is very well sound proofed. You would never know that plane's are landing close by!

excellent location 50 meters from arrival

My reason for staying at this hotel was because I had a very early flight the next morning. The hotel was "right there". You walk out the hotel, walk across the street, walk into the terminal, up the elevator and right up to the ticket counter - two minutes tops. They had baggage carts available for a cost of one Euro at the hotel entrance that you leave in the terminal. I did not eat dinner in the hotel - I ate at the Sbaro's in the terminal - but they have two restaurants, one on the ground level, one up top with a view over the terminals at the planes landing and taking off. It also appeared this hotel had some conference facilities.

A very nice hotel, great ameneties and a perfect location for a stopover on the way through Athens. Easy access to the airport and the train station. Rooms are small (by US standards) but very nice and well appointed. Certainly worth the money for an early A.M. flight out of Athens.

This hotel offers great amenities and large clean rooms. Also, there's a restaurant with fine dinning. Its directly accross the street from the airport which make's it a great choice when having an early flight. Its accessable by just walking from the terminal. No transportation necesary.

We accidentally left a few items of clothing in the closet. These were not turned over to lost and found and we are upset at losing a dress not yet worn and other items of value to us. Otherwise, the hotel was nice, quiet and food in the rather pricey restaurant was good.

Beds are amazing, rooms soundproof with 100% blocking shade on window so you can sleep no matter what time of day or night. Staff superb. Bathrooms superior to most hotels in Greece. A wonderful oasis for connections. Extremely convenient to airport- minutes from terminal on foot. Train to Athens minutes from door and only 6EU. Only downside is lack of variety for meals - restaurant is extremely expensive.
