Hotel Friedenshoehe - Oberammergau

This hotel was just wonderful in every way. We arrived after a rainy, lousy day at the King's Castles, and from the moment we arrived, Eric was wonderful to my wife and I. They had a table reserved for us for dinner (we didn't plan that in advance) and served us a wonderful Bavarian meal for much less than we would have been willing to pay. The room was wonderful with a breathtaking view of the mountain from the porch. If you're anywhere near Oberamergau, stay at this hotel. You will be very glad you did.

The family that runs the hotel were extremely helpful in helping us with our stay. Service was simply impeccable. The food was also excellent. It was about a 20 minute drive to the Garmisch ski area but the low price made it worth it. Only complaints are that the rooms are a bit dated and the noise from the restaurant downstairs was a bit annoying. Overall a great hotel though.

A very friendly family hotel, near a beautiful landscape and an absolutely marvelous city. Everyone was very friendly, fluent in english and knowledgeable of the surroundings. A must!

We spent 4 days in this hotel and it was a significant bargain. Hotels in this area can be very expensive. At Hotel Friedenhoehe we had a nice room with a terrific view of the Kofel mountain peak that dominates Oberammergau. It was an easy walk to town. We used the dining room often and the service and food was very good. The owner and his wife were very friendly and helpful.

Service was the best. Since we were travelling w/ 3 small children, they upgraded us to a bigger room, free of charge. Everyone spoke English and the town was perfect Bavarian Germany with 2 castles within 30 minutes.

Large room with view of the mountains. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was great. If we are ever staying in the area again would definitely stay here

The location is outstanding, overlooking an alpine pasture, away from town but close ennough to walk (5 minutes). The staff really make the difference here. They truly made us feel like family. The food was the best we had in Germany. We will be back!

This was the best place we spent time at during our six week summer driving vacation. The rooms were large (used two) and comfortable, furniture was from the 1970s, but sturdy and functional. Outstanding location and service. We toured all the local castles, and the owner and his family spoke excellent English and went out of their way to help uss with maps, directions, food, etc. I LOVED this place and will be back!!!

The Family Schmidt operate their hotel with tremendous care and attention to detail. Everyone at the hotel were gracious and helpful. As we are new to Germany, the Schmidts mapped out a driving tour that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. On top of all this, the food served in the hotel restaurant is DELICIOUS. Finally, the room was cozy and was just perfect for a couple needing a getaway weekend. Thank you Family Schmidt!

Albergo un po' decentrato, molto tranquillo, con atmosfera accogliente ed ambienti spaziosi, ma bisognosi di una energica rinfrescata, sia esterna che interna. La nostra stanza era molto grande, con sufficienti facilities ed un bagno pulito ma non proprio all'altezza per dotazione, compensato comunque da una comoda postazione con lavabo in camera. Bella la vista dal simpatico balconcino, che invitava a lunghe sedute meditative. Personale decisamente disponibile e premuroso, con un ventaglio poliglotta di consigli su come impiegare le giornate di soggiorno. L'albergo si trova infatti in una posizione ideale per chi vuole alternare lunghe passeggiate ad escursioni verso interessanti luoghi d'arte. Gradevole ristorante verandato, con bella vista sui prati e sulle montagne. Menù limitato nella varietà di scelta, con specialità semplici ma decisamente curate nella fattura e nella presentazione, cosa decisamente insolita nel panorama della ristorazione locale. Abbondante e sufficientemente varia la prima colazione a buffet.

It is a very traditional, friendly, sweet, worm hotel! The people are very friendly and helpful! Good, cheap food with nice vew, big and clean rooms. Free hotel-parking.
