Hotel Islane - Marrakech

gute Lage, gleich an der Medina, günstige Raten, nicht viel zu erwarten, kein schönes Hotel, nur zum sclafen gedacht und mit geschlossenen Augen betreten

Die Angestellten sind höflich und bemüht, aber den Gulligestank im Bad und den Schimmel an der Badezimmerwand können sie auch nicht verhindern. Auch einen Fön haben sie nicht verfügbar, die Zimmerpreise aber sind im Vergleich zu den anderen Hotels angemessen.

Bit jaded round the edges but great place to stay for the money,great food selection,nice restaurants(3) friendly and helpful staff.Perfect for walking tour of Old Marrakech.Will definitely return here

The hotel is opposite Koutoubia Mosque and two minutes walk from Jemma el Fnaa, so can't be beaten for location. The staff are friendly and helpful, the bedroom was comfortable enough, however the bathroom was in very poor condition and standards of cleanliness were not up to scratch. It was not an expensive hotel and on the whole given its location was probably not bad value, so for someone who is on a budget and isn't expecting much from the room, I would recommend it.

We are seasoned travelers and had a horrible experience at this hotel. We arrived early and were told that our room wasn't ready but that we could leave our bags in the dirty room while we explored. We were escourted to the room and the room smelled. I looked in the restroom and the ceiling was covered in mold and mildew. We told the desk clerk that we couln't stay in a room with mold and his response was "I told you that the maid hasn't cleaned the room"..as if the maid were going to clean the ceiling. We were given another room. The same clerk gave us information on a day trip to the Atlas Mts. When we booked the trip he failed to meantion that we would be hiking up a mt and should wear comfortable walking shoes. We paid him for the trip and he "accidentally" gave back the wrong change. We returned to our room in the afternoon and asked to turn on the air conditioning. It didn't seem to be working and the maintainance man came to the room and told us "no problem, its alright"...we left the unit on hoping that it would cool the room while we were out for dinner. We asked for directions to a supermarket at the front desk and were told it was a 10 minute walk....after 40 minutes of walking we gave up...when we got back to our room after dinner it was 95 degrees. The man had turned on the heat....so once again we were given another room. The next morning my boyfriend asked to use a phone to call our car rental. He was led to a phone across the lobby. The rental agent didn't speak English so he hung up and asked the clerk at the desk to call back and translate. The clerk dialed the phone and told him sorry the line was busy and wasn't going to try the call again...then wanted to charge him for the call. We were also given poor directions to the airport that sent us 20 minutes in the wron g direction. The only good thing about this hotel is the location but there are many others in the area to choose from.

clean hotel with comfortable beds , cleaned daily however towels somtimes do not arrive back until 18:30 after being cleaned. good resturant on site reasonably priced. you will be woken up at 5am every morning by the mosque . this would be the same whever you stay though. front desk helpfull and speak English over all I would recomend it if you want a central location with a 5 min walk to the square and souks .

The location of this hotel is great, just round the corner from the square where it all happens!!and opposite the koutoubia, but the rooms are abit dark and dingy,(couldn't read anything at night),but the breakfast on the roof terrace in the morning is very pleasant.

The one great thing about Hotel Islane is the prime location next to the big square, and its proximity to the airport (which makes taxi rides cheaper of course). However, when we first arrived there was no toilet paper nor towels in our room, and we had to wait a little bit before we got it. The bathroom smelled like mold immediately after a shower (it must have been the heat, but we couldn't open the windows because it was so hot outside), and the air conditioning worked well for the first day, but barely worked the second night. I didn't expect much out of the room and was surprised to find a good bed and a good size chest/wardrobe.

Booked cheap as only staying one night. We waited 5 minutes for the man on reception to acknowlege that we were stood in front of him Room was sufficient although porter put aircon on and then took the remote control so was unable to change this so had a cold night! Rude porter also demanded money for bringing bags up even though we insisted on taking them ourselves. Impressed by breakfast though...lots of choice and public areas very pleasant. Average hotel but good value for money if you are not looking for luxury!

If you want cheapness and no frills, this is hotel for you. Checking in, I noticed the hotel manager having a very loud argument with a guest... and then I experienced exactly the same treatment. He was by far (the manager), the rudest, vilest, aggressive manager on the planet... he only 'calmed' down when I threatened to go to the tourist police a 5min walk away! This was my 9th visit to Morocco and I am well travelled but this character took the biscuit. His appearance too was very much in line with that of the hotel - shabby/run down/unkempt and like the hotel, very much in need of a makeover! One of the female members of staff accompanied me to my room and apologised profusely (I think this is his normal behaviour) - I said I should be the one apologising to her poor thing, having to work alongside that hideous man day in, day out. This was a great hotel especially for foreigners. The staff was happy to help at any time of the day and answered all of our questions. Their service was invaluable expecially regarding how much we should pay for things - like taxis! However, there was no hot water in my room and it still did not get fixed even though I told them about the problem. I also had to change rooms because my first room smelled bad. I think it came from outside though and the staff was very helpful and quickly switched my room. Overall a good hotel, exceptional customer service from the staff!

Great location & good food but average rooms A bit cramped, and some staff not particularly friendly (although others were great) but worth it for the location and spectacular view of the Koutobia from the terrace restaurant.

For a budget priced hotel it had everything we were hoping for - spotless room & bedding, friendly & helpful staff, good restaurant with great view. Décor a bit tired but perfectly adequate.

La climatisation ne fonctionnée pas temperature ext 54° odeur noséabonde dans l'hotel petit dejeuné laisse à desirer" pains dur" salle de bain délabrée personnel désagréable. Ne pas prendre de chambre a cet hotel vous serez vite déçus

le seul reproche c'est le lavabo

Un bon hotel sans prétention. Idéalement situé en face de la koutouba. Bon rapport qualité/prix

l'hotel se situe à 500 m de la place ce qui est très pratique. Pas besoin de taxi. L'hotel par lui-même est sommaire. Les lits sont très confortables (2lits collés de 90) et les matelas en bon état. Le ménage laisse un peu à désirer. Beaucoup de poussière. La télé ne comporte que quelques chaines en français TV5 mais le son ne marchait pas. Sinon, les employés sont très agréables et serviables. Le petit déjeuner, rien à dire. L'hotel est un peu bruyant mais étant situé ainsi on sait à quoi s'en tenir. Pour moi, dans l'ensemble c'est un bon séjour.

Buona localizazione, pero la camera è sporca e il letto è terribile.

We spent our first night in Morocco in this hotel, which has a brilliant location, just by the main square, the Djemma el Fna. The standard is basic, and rooms were cold in January (because we didn't understand the radiator, but when we asked for help, staff was very friendly adn helpful. Nice breakfast, on the terrace overlooking the great mosque. The hotel also helped us organise a trip into the desert through Zagora which is HIGHLY recommended!! We paid Dh750 which is a good, competitive price for transport, stops in places like Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate and a camel ride into the desert to a berber camp - good value for the money!

Stort pluss for beliggenheit, god service og alt i alt eit godt val. Kun ein liten spasertur frå Jamaa el Fna, ein plass du kan bruke mange dagar på. Pluss for triveleg frokost på ballkongen i solskinnet!

Hormis son emplacement idéal et sat terrasse,je n'ai trouvé que des défauts à cet hotel: - chambres sombres et très bruyantes mal insonorisées: bruits de canalisation,de l'activité du restaurant, du passage dans les couloirs ... bouchons antibruits conseillés -téléphone HS -salle de bain à refaire complétement : traces d'humidité ,carrelages et peintures sales , éclairage déafaillant... -peit déjeuner honteux : pains et gateaux durs et défraichis

hotel sans aucun con fort sanitaire en dessous de tout pas de fenetre dans la chambre minable bien que vous ayant payé la nuit je suis parti à un autre hotel

Redelijk goed hotel , zeer gunstig gelegen, lopend naar nieuwe stad, zeer dichtbij het drukke plein. Af en toe in de vroeg eochtend lawaaierig door veel geschuif met de meubelen in het restaurant die er boven gelegen is door de schoonmaaksters.

het hotel zat op een goede plek en had een goed restaurant met een mooi uitzicht. Personeel was erg onvriendelijk. Het bed liep in een kuil, er was geen douchegordijn en ze waren verbaasd dat wij gingen zeuren over het ontbreken van handdoeken op de kamer.

alle reseptionisten en kamermeisje waqren heel vriendelijk en duidelijk met gevraagde en ongevraagde info, prima bedden en een krachtige douche, schoon, en uitzicht op de verlichte koutoubia moskee. even de hoek om en je staat op het grote plein waar alles gebeurt. Een prima prijs kwal. verhouding.

The location of this Hotel was excellent. Hotel Islane was one of the few hotels in de Medina. Less than 2 minutes from the main square! The good thing is that it was accesible by Taxi, which is rare for the Medina. The rooms were refurbished and very clean. They were also quite big. Our room had an excellent view too.
