Wyndham Garden Hotel - Times Square South - New York

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Wyndham. Great location. A short 6 blocks (1/3 of a mile) to Times Square. 2 blocks from a subway stop. Very clean and orderly. I'm a stickler for details and cleanliness and I was very impressed. Room size was about what I expected for New York. Don't expect a lot of open space in the room but then again why are you staying in your room to notice this? Very competitive price. When I go back to New York City I will definitely be looking to stay at the Wyndham again.

I stayed in this hotel due to its proximity to Penn Station. While the lobby was a bit grim, the room was surprisingy spacious and comfortable. Very comfortable bedding. Excellent service at breakfast. Overall it was a very good value for the money.

The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The service is very good. The location is very close to time square

hotel in walking distance of times square, grey line bus tour from times square provided fantastic service/guided tour. Thai restaurant across street from hotel fantastic!

possibly the best shower i have ever seen in a hotel room. the maintenance/room service guy was helpful as was the front desk staff.

I travel frequently and the most important thing is a clean room with good water pressure and easy internet connection. This hotel worked perfectly. Very good price for the location. The bathroom and room were both very clean! I would go back.

Pros: - Looks like the hotel is newly renovated. The room was good and bath room was "exceptionaly" clean - Bed is very confortable and the room has all the things you woudl normally expect including bed and bath toiletries - Free internet access - Small restaurant/bar on the premises - It is closer to Penn Station but the street is pretty run down (though I never felt unsafe) - Great rate - Ask for higher floor to get a better view of the city. Cons: - The room is very small - just enough space for a bed and a table but you can't expect much for a hotel at this location for this price. - In my case, the A/C unit was leaking water which resulted in water on the carpet. I informed the concierge in the morning and they put in a request for the service engineer to check. (I checked out after that so I don't know if it was fixed) - This hotel is very popular with tour operators probably do to it's very reasonable rates. So be prepared to deal with tour crowd in morning and evenings. - Don't ask concierge for restaurant recommendations, they are clueless.

The room was in better condition than many of the pricier hotels I've stayed at previously in Manhattan. I'll definitely keep this one in mind for next time.

I was really surprised with the comfort and cleanliness of my room. Everything seemed to be new. Highly recommend.

Everything was fine with this hotel except that the temperature control on the AC was a bit tricky as it got way cold when on and too hot when it automatically turned off. This was a problem even when we played around with the different temp settings.

My daughter and I stayed here on a recent weekend and found the room to be clean and a good size by NY standards. The bathroom was nicer than I expected and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a bit out of the way, but overall we were very pleased with the quality of the hotel especially given the price we paid for our room. The only other downside was we did hear a fair amount of street noise at night, but once we turned on the air conditioner it pretty much drowned it out.

Felt like we were in the center of it all, without breaking the bank! Room was a little small, but being from Texas where everything is BIG, we adjusted quite well. Very "Zen", folks were really nice, even for New Yorkers. Pleasantly surprised. Would stay there again.

I was so nervous arriving due to the reasonable price. I had no reason to be! The staff was wonderful the hotel was gorgeous. My room was modern and immaculate. I never wanted or needed for anything. I will return time and time again.

Since October last year, I've had to constantly travel to NY for business (3-4 times a month for at least a couple of days at a time). It never fails that I always tense up when it comes to selecting a hotel. This time, I found the Promise Land! The hotel was incredible! I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff, A funky lobby with a cool bar and cafe, and a comfortably sized room that was perfect for my 6 foot 3 frame. The bathrooms were large and extremely modern - and don't get me started on the bed! It was amazing! the Location is perfect - blocks from Madison Square Garden, times square, and my office. The only issue i did have is that the place only has two elevators and they are really, really slow but a small price to pay for the other positives. It's the hotel of choice for me and for my staff while in New York.

Those of you who have stayed at NY Boutique hotels know what it's like to be crammed into a tiny room and tiny bathroom - no fun at all! The Wyndham Garden Hotel was a pleasant surprise. Nice sized rooms and baths, a block or two from Penn Station. Friendly helpful staff, Starbucks and a bar downstairs, nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Overall, it was clean, relatively quiet, and convenient place to stay. My only complaint, the elevators were a little slow, other than that, it was great. Will stay again.

I was very pleasantly pleased with the Wyndham. It was an easy walk to Madison Square Garden (3 blocks, 5 min) but yet just enough away to get out of some of the hustle and bustle of the MSG area. The beds/pillows were heaven! The in room flat screen HDTV's were wonderful and I didn't think the room was any smaller than any other NYC room. The staff was very hospitable, friendly, helpful and accomodating. I'd stay there again soon!

A new hotel European feel with respect to room size and style. Very clean, friendly staff. I will stay there again.

Hotel was clean, well maintained, room was nice - Recommend staying on the lower floors as there are only 2 elevators. Overall very happy with the hotel

Great location but the neighborhood needs a little upkeep. The rooms was very small but had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. Limited clothing storage such as drawers in the room, must hang all clothes. Nice restaurant and limited gym - No Sauna or Pool or Jacuzzi. Great value for the price..made for couples, would not stay there with family.

The room was small but nice, with a great view. I did not know in advance that they had a bar and restaurant in the lobby. That was very convenient and the food was excellent. I had a light dinner and breakfast there. I also like that some of the tables had computers/TVs that you can use/watch. This was especially helpful since I did not bring my laptop for this overnight trip.

Our stay at the Wyndam was great.

Excellent location. Walking distance to the convention center (12 minute walk). Rooms are small but afford a good view on the upper floors. (I could see the Hudson River and other sky scrapers... and the sky!) The hotel offered a turn down service as well. Snacks and beverages were free (chocolates, nuts, water, etc.) Starbucks in the lobby as well as a cafe which I didn't use. There was a lot of Asian Food restaurants outside of the hotel, but I'm spoiled with west coast Asian food. Stick with the local delicatessens. Shower is clean, spigot is nice and high for tall people.

Although on a dingy street (most streets are in Manhattan), the hotel is an oasis of fresh, new and clean. The room was relatively small, but unless one pays top dollar in Manhattan, one can expect this. So if one "lowers the bar" to accept a small room and 100+ year old industrial surroundings, this hotel is top value for the money paid. I would go there again and would recommend it. The dining room is nice as well, but we did not eat there. We found a real NY diner a few blocks away on 34th St. that had a great breakfast at reasonable cost. PS: A few doors down is an improve Comedy Theater. They typically have 2 shows per night and the cost is only slightly more then a movie. Be sure to attend one of their shows if you can. Its not R-rated so you can bring your kids. I intend to go again

Convenient to restaurants, other NYC attractions; great room with comfortable bed.

The location is great (close to Penn Station), but the actual neighborhood is not so great. I think I would have felt safer if the hotel had more of a sidewalk presence - doormen or something. However, I get the feeling that the area is on its way up, so in a year or two it might be different. The staff was lovely and very eager to help

We woke up at 4am with guests of the hotel screaming in the hallway in a fight. I called the reception to ask what was happening and they said they were taking care of it and hang up on my face. The police came and the noise went on until 5.30am. The next day we (and many other guests at the hotel) tried to change rooms but were told the hotel was fully booked. That same night we woke up again at 3am with the same noisy guests partying. Called the reception and was told the police was coming. The hotel location is very convenient if you want to stay close to javits center and the hotel was new, so the amenities are still in very good shape. The service wasn't very good though. Each time we asked a question about check out, taxis to the airport, etc we were told to speak with the manager (who was never there...)

This hotel will be my new "headquarters" whenever I am attending a tradeshow or similar event at the Javits Convention Center. The hotel is clean, quiet and just a short walk (even in the cold winter conditions I just experienced) from the convention center.

The hotel was new, everything was clean. The staff were great, was surprised at how big the room was for NYC. Will recommend the hotel to anyone who asks.

Hotel was very clean and comparable to most hotels arround times square it was comfortable and the price was about right. the valet was very rude as well as several other members of the hotel staff. they seem to think it is ok to crack on a customers car just because it is not a bentley. the food at the hotel was over-priced and did not taste very good. service at the hotel resteraunt was ok to start with then degraded into very bad. the tables in the hotel restraunt were all dirty when we went to get breakfast at about 9 and no one thought they should be cleaned i guess. the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. the simple updated bathroom was very nice and the HD tv was also a very good touch to the room. overall the room was good and everything else was not.

The hotel has only been open for a few months. The positive aspect of this is that everything is new and in great condition. The down side of this is that not all amenities were present. The cardio equipment in the fitness center was good stuff but incorrectly installed, or not hooked up at all. There were no ice machines or vending machines installed at the time of my stay. Very friendly staff.

Great price for the location. 5-8 minute walk into the heart of Time Square. The Room was perfect. Could not have been cleaner in our room which was important to us. No dirt, pubic hairs, trash, stains on the bed spread, nothing....looked almost brand new in the room. Very friendly staff. Professional. Helped check our bags and give us directions around the city.....A little noisy (but hey it is NYC)...and the elevators ran a little slow. We will definitely stay here again as long as they don't jack up the rates too much.

The staff at teh Wyndham was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay especially Mark at the front desk. The hotel within walking distance of Broadway and Rockfeller Center. The rooms are a bit small but comfortable and well kept up.

This is a very friendly place to stay in Midtown. Metro's 34th St/Penn Station is just over a block away. The hotel has just openned a few weeks ago and they are still trying to get things just right, but the rooms, while small, are very nice. The beds are wonderful! Not often you find a King bed in NYC. The bath sparkled. The hotel staff and concierge were all extremely nice and helpful and were anxious to please. I will tell all my friends that this is a great place to stay.

We did not get the size of room or beds we had requested and paid for in advance. Rooms with queen size and king size beds are extremely small and tight. The room was not ready at the check in time. We left and came back four hours later, and it was still not ready. They provided a continental breakfast ticket worth $12.50. They did not offer a price reduction. The bell person provided excellent service. The other staff was not very customer oriented. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is in a refurbished part of the city that needs a lot of work. Greatly disappointed with room and hotel.

This hotel is brand new and although the rooms are small everything was great! The people were all very friendly, the room clean and comfortable, and a good location. Would recommend this hotel!
