Expert Tip. Dhaka has a population of roughly 12 million, and city traffic is extremely congested. Alternatives to driving include taxis and rickshaws. Cycle rickshaws are good for short trips, inexpensive (roughly seven cents per kilometer) and typically travel on side streets. Auto rickshaws, essentially three-wheeled motor scooters with seats for passengers, are an option for longer trips.
