The Swallow Roman Way Hotel was built in 1980 with an impressive Roman-style portico and lobby, and is two miles from the centre of the Midlands town of Cannock Chase. The 56 guestrooms feature neutral tones and modern furnishings. All include satellite television with pay movies, direct-dial phones, dial-up Internet access, desks, trouser presses, extra towels, linens, bedding, and welcome tea and coffee trays. Bathrooms have complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Irons, ironing boards and wake-up calls are available on request.
Nero's Restaurant serves traditional English food in a themed Roman setting, and Gilpin's Lounge is a traditional lounge bar serving light meals, snacks and a wide range of drinks. Guests can benefit from all-hours room service, and discounted use of a nearby fitness centre, and staff at the 24-hour front desk can offer advice on tours and excursions. The hotel also offers five meeting rooms, with audio-visual equipment, for up to 150 people theatre-style, while other practical amenities include a safe-deposit box for valuables and free onsite parking. The hotel is in an ideal position for exploring the surrounding area; the Shugborough Estate, featuring a 17th-century mansion, is 12 miles from the hotel, while the WaterWorld indoor aqua park is 30 miles away. Birmingham International Airport is 25 miles away.
