The Hotel Fontebella is a seven-storey, renaissance-style building situated in the beautiful Umbrian valley, just 300 metres from the Upper and Lower Basilicas of St. Francis and one kilometre from Rocca Maggiore Castle. It features 43 guestrooms with 18th- and 19th-century style furnishings and decor. All offer air conditioning, satellite television, direct-dial phones, and safes. Bathrooms have hair dryers.
The hotel's Il Frantoio restaurant serves traditional Umbrian specialities and an impressive selection of wines in typical Umbrian-style surroundings. It features a terrace with stunning views of the valley. Guests can enjoy a drink in the bar, put their feet up in the intimate surroundings of the lounge and view original paintings, and order snacks and drinks from the room service menu at any hour. The hotel also has a library, while practical amenities include multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk, a dry cleaning service, and nearby parking. Assisi is the birthplace and was the home of St Francis and St. Clare in the 13th century. The town is filled with Franciscan sites, including the world heritage site of the Basilica of St. Francis, 300 metres from the hotel, and the Basilica of Saint-Clare, 700 metres away. Two medieval castles are prominent in the town, the largest of which is Rocca Maggiore, one kilometre away. Perugia Sant Egidio Airport is approximately 30 minutes from the hotel, 20 kilometres distance.

Car rentals or taxis are available from the airport. An airport shuttle bus runs from the Arrivals terminal to the train station in Perugia. The central train station is Perugia Fontivegge. The immediate area is best navigated on foot, while a car or bicycle is useful for travel further afield.
Driving directions: From the airport take SS75 for South Foligno/Spoleto. Exit for Santa Maria Degli Angeli Nord - Assisi. Drive through Santa Maria Degli Angeli for Assisi to San Pietro Car Parking. From here drive up the hill through San Francesco medieval gate to Assisi.
