Beschreibung

Location. The Hotel Piazza Vecchia is located in the historic district of Bergamo, Italy within 50 metres of Piazza Vecchia and Colleoni Chapel, and three kilometres from the modern centre of town. Bergamo train station is three kilometres away and Orio al Serio Airport is eight kilometres.
Hotel Features. Situated in a three-storey property dating from the 14th century, the Hotel Piazza Vecchia combines original details with modern design and vibrant colours. Features of the decor include copies of Impressionist masterpieces. Amenities include wireless Internet access in public areas, a bar/lounge and parking. Safe-deposit boxes are available at the front desk and there is a television in the lobby where guests are welcome to relax.

Breakfast is available each morning (surcharge) and numerous restaurants in the area of Piazza Vecchia offer Italian and international dining. Room service is provided throughout the day.

Recreational activities on offer in the vicinity include golf, tennis and ice skating. Aerial sightseeing excursions can also be arranged.

Guestrooms. The 13 air-conditioned guestrooms have distinctive decor with parquet flooring, high-beamed ceilings and a rich colour scheme. Rooms are equipped with LCD satellite television, telephones, high-speed Internet and writing desks. Private bathrooms have bidets, stone baths, hair dryers and designer toiletries. Some rooms have a balcony.

Expert Tip. For spectacular views, ride the funicolare from the Città Bassa up to the Città Alta. A second funicolare climbs to the hilltop village of San Vigilio and a ruined castle.

From Orio al Serio International Airport (BGY):
Distance to Hotel Piazza Vecchia is seven kilometres, approximately 15 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A regular bus service runs between the airport and Bergamo. Fares cost about 1.55 EUR to the old city centre. Taxis are available outside the Arrivals hall and cost about 15 EUR.

Getting around. There are good bus and rail connections from Bergamo to Milan, Lecco and other neighbouring cities. The historic centre of Bergamo is compact and most sights can easily be reached on foot. The climb from the Città Bassa to the Città Alta can be quite strenuous, due to the steep and winding streets, but the funicolare (a kind of tram) linking the two parts of the town, offers an alternative.

Driving directions. From the airport, follow signs to Bergamo in the direction of Citta Alta.
At the entrance gate of the Venetian walls, turn right.
Continue straight on. At the cross road, keep left and climb up San Lorenzo Road.
At the top of the road, park in the Piazza Mercato del Fieno car park, 100 metres from the hotel.
