The Hotel Syrene is a small, whitewashed property with sea and mountain views set in Capri centre, 11 kilometres from the Sorrento Peninsula. The 32 guestrooms have modern, light decor with traditional majolica tiles and antique-style furnishings. Modern amenities include air conditioning, satellite television, coffee/tea makers, safes, hairdryers, Internet connections, and minibars. Some rooms come with balconies with sea views.
Guests can sunbathe on the bright poolside terrace, scented and shaded by a border of lemon trees and flowering shrubs. The hotel's unusual turquoise swimming pool can be admired through the glass window which makes up its one side, and guests can relax in jetted tubs and in the massage area beside the pool terrace. The hotel offers a baggage service from the port, allowing guests to reach the hotel at their own pace on their arrival. Travellers can use wireless Internet to plan sightseeing or access their e-mail, and the concierge can arrange tour bookings. Those feeling energetic can use the Capri Sporting Club at the sister hotel, Hotel Bellavista. Naples Airport is 35 kilometres from the hotel and an approximate driving time of 40 minutes.

From the port, hydrofoils and ferries connect to the island of Capri. The best way around the island is on foot, by scooter or by boat. Car hire is recommended for exploring the Sorrento Peninsula and Amalfi coastline.
